State of the fic, 2021/04/23

I took a break from writing a couple of months ago to recharge my brain. I felt it was needed to help focus on other projects I wanted to work on. But now that that's out of the way, working on editing Ascension Part 1 is my primary objective.

It's taking quite a while since there's a lot of scenes that needed to be re-written to make it more "readable." It also affords me the opportunity to re-write scenes with a better narrative flow to it rather than just technical clunkiness. Re-reading old chapters, pointing out a lot of glaring mistakes in writing means that I've got a lot of work cut out for me. But the end result looks so much better.

There was also the issue of grammatical and sentence structure, which I have a bad habit of doing (I know there's syntax errors in this note alone, lol).

So far, I've re-written the prologue and chapters 1-8, currently working on chapter 9. By the end of the month I should have up to chapter 11 completed.

I'm working towards setting up an A03 account (archive of your own) where I will be uploading Ascension plus a few other fanfics (some of which will need to be reworked, obviously). Fanfiction dot net is still going to be there, of course. I should have the A03 account set up at the end of the month.

Starting in May, I will delete my Ascension fics and begin re-uploading a chapter each week, using the weekdays to put the final touches on the chapter before I upload it on the weekend. So you'll have something to look forward to each week. The chapters I've re-done built up a good enough buffer where I can do this without any issues. I'll have enough time to finish re-editing Part 1 before I look back into the first couple chapters of Part 2. Once that's all set and done, Part 2 will resume the story as usual.

Apologies for keeping you all waiting, but the wait will be worth it.

Cheers,
