Chapter 3: Adventure Awaits

"So a giant Dragon will appear if you gather all seven?!" Kakarot asked.

"And he'll grant you any wish you want?!" Kale added.

Bulma nodded proudly. "Yup! That's right!"

The Saiyan twins were shocked and excited about the idea. Who knew that such an astonishing thing existed?!

Grandpa Gohan, however, didn't have the shocked reaction that his two children had. He took a sip from his tea and looked Bulma straight in the eyes. "What exactly are you planning on wishing for?" he asked with a raised eyebrow.

Bulma grinned as she played around with the two Dragon Balls on the table. "I don't know…Maybe a lifetime supply of strawberries…Or maybe the perfect boyfriend…"

Grandpa Gohan sighed and shook his head with a small smile on his face. "Well at least she doesn't want to use them for any selfish reasons…" he muttered.

"So anyway, do you know where I can find the Dragon Ball I detected?" Bulma asked hopefully.

Grandpa Gohan took another sip from his tea and stood up. He placed the cup onto the table and went to a nearby drawer. After rummaging through it for a few moments, he took out an orange ball with four red stars on it.

"I take it this is what you were looking for?" Grandpa Gohan asked, setting the ball onto the table.

Bulma grinned and immediately grabbed it. "Yeah! This is what the Dragon Radar was detecting!"

After she put all three of the Dragon Balls into her bag, she got up and waved to the three of them. "Thanks for the help everyone. See you later!"

However, before she could leave, she was stopped by Grandpa Gohan. "Now wait just a moment!" he called out.

She turned around and looked at the old Martial Artist.

"I'll allow you to keep that 'Dragon Ball' on one condition…" Grandpa Gohan stated.

"Aw damn it!" Bulma thought to herself. "Now I have to do something for this old man! I swear if he wants a peek down under I'm going to- "

"Take Kale and Kakarot with you on your journey," he finished.

This was met with silence from both Bulma, Kale, and Kakarot, who all just stared at the old Martial Artist.

"Wait! Why do you want us to go with the weird girl?!" Kakarot immediately asked. He didn't like the idea of traveling away from home with a girl he had just met.

"HEY! I'M NOT WEIRD!" Bulma yelled.

Grandpa Gohan raised his hand and explained. "The truth is, I have nothing left to teach your or your sister, Kakarot. Since you've never actually seen the outside world, I think this is a wonderful opportunity to go and explore! Furthermore, you might learn new things and techniques that you never knew before!"

Kakarot, who was an easily swayed person, thought about this for a moment. Unlike his sister who had hit her head and lost her thirst for violence, Kakarot still had it within him. This was the perfect opportunity for him to test out his Martial Arts skills!

He immediately got up to his feet and tightened his obi. He grinned and said "Alright! Those are great reasons! Come on Kale, let's go!"

However, Kale wasn't really too sure. She had grown attached to her grandfather, and Mount Paozu as a whole. She didn't really want to leave all she had ever known to go on some sort of mystical adventure.

"I don't know…It could be kind of dangerous…" Kale muttered, trying to make up an excuse.

Grandpa Gohan shook his head dismissively. "Don't worry about that! As long as you stick with your brother you should be fine."

Kale thought for a few more moments and then sighed. "Okay…I suppose I'll go…"

Bulma, however, quickly interjected. "Hey, wait a minute! You haven't even asked my opinion on the matter!" she yelled.

Grandpa Gohan simply smiled and replied "Oh? I thought you'd be happy to have two very powerful warriors accompanying you on your journey. Collecting all of the Dragon Balls could be pretty dangerous…"

Bulma immediately stopped and thought about it. She grinned at the idea. "Two bodyguards! They seem pretty tough, so I suppose I could bring them along…" she thought to herself.

"Alright then, fine. I'll bring them along," Bulma said. "But the wish is MINE, got it?!"

Kale and Kakarot nodded. They didn't really care for the wish. Kakarot just wanted to see the dragon, and Kale was really only going because Grandpa Gohan told her to.

"Alright, let's go!" Bulma said as she left, with Kale and Kakarot in tow.

Kale and Kakarot waved goodbye to their grandfather. "Have fun!" he called out to them.

Kale and Kakarot waved back as they proceeded to get farther and farther away from Grandpa Gohan's house. "So are we just going to walk to every Dragon Ball?" Kale asked. Bulma smirked at Kale's question.

"Of course not!" Bulma replied, taking a small box out of her bag. She opened it up, revealing different, multi-colored pill-sized objects, numbered from one to seventeen. "Which one was it?..." Bulma thought.

She then grinned and picked one out of the box. "Number nine!" she said proudly. She closed the box and put it back into her bag. "Stand back," she commanded. The two Saiyans did as told. Bulma then threw the pill-like object towards the ground, and a motorcycle suddenly appeared out of thin air!

Bulma hopped onto the vehicle and said "Come on, you two! There's enough space for all three of us!"

The two twin-Saiyans, however, were hesitant. "What's wrong?" Bulma asked. "Don't tell me you've never seen a Capsule before!"

"I knew it! Not only is she weird, but she's a witch as well!" Kakarot yelled.

Bulma sighed. "I'm not a witch. This is a Capsule. They're handy little things which can be used to store larger objects," she explained. "Literally everybody knows about them! They're extremely important to our modern world!"

Kale and Kakarot looked at each other and then at Bulma. This was the first time that they were hearing about one of these 'Capsules'. They assumed that their Grandpa would have told them about something so important. Then again, Grandpa Gohan wasn't really the best person to rely on for information about the world, considering how he spent his days alone on a mountain.

Hesitantly, the two Saiyans hopped onto the motorcycle, and the trio zoomed off in search of the other four Dragon Balls.

"The next Dragon Ball is approximately 1200 kilometers to the west!" Bulma declared as she revved up the motorcycle.

After a couple hours of riding, it was starting to get late. Bulma noticed this and decided to call it a night. The trio got off their bike and Bulma found a decently large field. "I suppose we'll be staying out here," Bulma said as she took out her Capsule Box.

"Are we camping?" Kale asked.

"Heck no! I don't know how YOU were raised, but I'm way too delicate to be outside camping!"

Kakarot looked around. "But there are no houses around here. Where will we be staying?"

Bulma grinned and took out a Capsule that was larger compared to the last one. Again, she commanded the two to step back, which they did, and she threw the Capsule in front of her. A large puff of smoke followed and, when it dissipated, there was an enormous, futuristic-looking house.

"Woah…" was all Kale and Kakarot could say. Bulma chuckled proudly.

The two Saiyans immediately rushed inside to explore the inside of the house. It had everything that they could have ever imagined and so much more. There was a kitchen, a bathroom, a living room, and plenty of devices that they had never seen before.

Bulma walked over to a nearby table and place the Capsule Box down. "I'm going to take a bath. After that, we'll eat dinner."

The Saiyan siblings nodded as they tested out some of the gadgets that were present in the house.

Kakarot slowly took a bite out of the food that Bulma had placed on the table. He immediately spit it out and said "Gross! This stuff's yucky!"

Kale had a similar opinion, but trying to be nice, she simply stated "Uh, this food isn't the worst thing I've ever tasted…"

"You two are way too picky about your food! That's probably why you're so short," Bulma stated, taking a sip from her cup of coffee.

Kakarot got up from his chair. "I'm going to go and get some REAL food! Come on Kale!" he said to his sister as he ran to the door. Kale grinned and followed her brother. "Coming!" she yelled happily. Before Bulma could even ask the two what they were up to, they were already out the door.

Pilaf sat atop his throne, his two loyal servants, Shuu and Mai, stood before him. They remained silent and watched as their leader ate the enormous spread of food that they had prepared for him. After the longest few minutes of their lives, which were spent just watching the rude blue emperor eat, Pilaf had finally finished his dinner and looked at his servants.

"So you think you know where the next Dragon Ball is?" the evil emperor asked.

Mai nodded. "Y-Yes, sir! Apparently, there's a strange, faint glow in an area known as Skull Valley! It could be a Dragon Ball!"

Pilaf nodded. "I see…I see…" he muttered to himself.

An awkward silence followed, which was eventually broken by Pilaf who yelled "Well?! Go and get it!"

"Y-Yes, sir!" Shuu and Mai yelled in unison as they saluted and ran out of the room.

Kale and Kakarot just so happened to be in Skull Valley, looking for food. "That stuff was pretty gross. I'm sure we'll find something yummier out here!" Kakarot declared. Kale nodded in agreement.

As the two ventured through the valley, they soon found something. "Look, Kale! A centipede!" Kakarot whispered. Kale looked at her brother. "Come on Kakarot…You don't actually want to eat that…do you?" she asked.

Kakarot simply smirked and picked up a small rock that was nearby. After aiming, Kakarot threw the rock at the centipede, crushing it. He then picked up a small stick and stabbed the centipede's corpse with it.

"Hm, this won't be enough. We need more…" Kakarot muttered, looking around.

Kale shuddered in disgust. She then looked up and her eyes widened. "Kakarot, look!" Kale said to her brother as she pointed to the sky. He looked up and grinned. "BIRD!" they yelled in unison. Of course, this wasn't actually a bird, but rather a plane whose occupants just so happened to be Shuu and Mai.

They chased after the 'bird' for a while. However, they eventually lost it and had to manually search the area for it. After quite a bit of searching, Kale eventually found it. "Hey, Kakarot! Over here!"

Kakarot peeped his head from a nearby bush that he was searching in and grinned. He jumped out of the bush and stood next to his sister. "Wow, Kale! You don't hunt that much, but you sure do have the talent for it!" he said as he inspected their soon-to-be meal, which was placed atop of a large, flat rock.

Kale nodded happily and said "Thanks Kakarot! I try my best…"

"What do we have here?" a voice asked. The two turned to see Pilaf's two henchmen, Shuu and Mai! Of course, they didn't know who these guys were. "And what's up with the outfits? These guys must be from the sticks…"

"Hey! You get lost! This is our bird! We found it first!" Kakarot angrily shouted.

Kale nodded. "Yeah! We worked hard to find it!"

Shuu looked at Mai with a confused expression, who simply shrugged in response.

"Listen, you two. Just go home. Us adults are busy here!" Mai said.

Shuu was going to say something, but suddenly, little red lights began to surround them from the dark walls of the valley, followed by low growls. Sweat began to drip from Shuu and Mai's foreheads, while Kale and Kakarot simply just got into fighting stances and smirked. Suddenly, a pack of hungry wolves appeared and jumped towards the two duos!

Shuu and Mai immediately ran away, fearing for their lives. Meanwhile, Kale and Kakarot began to battle with the animals. The wolves were no match for the Martial Artists, as they used a masterful combination of many punches and kicks. Furthermore, Kakarot used his Power Pole to easily dispose of some of the bigger ones.

While the two children were having fun attacking the wolves, Shuu and Mai immediately used the opportunity to get into their plane and fly off. It was pretty obvious to them that the glow that they came for wasn't the glow of a Dragon Ball, but rather the glow of the wolves' eyes.

The young Saiyan warriors didn't notice this because they were too busy competing with each other, trying to see who could kill more wolves. After a few minutes, they had killed all of the wolves present in Skull Valley. Kakarot turned to check the 'bird' but quickly realized that it had flown away.

"Aw, man! It got away!" Kakarot exclaimed.

Kale was also pretty disappointed, but then the two of them realized that they had just killed a pack of large wolves, and they could just eat them instead.

"Wow, Kakarot! We've killed so many wolves!" Kale said licking her lips.

"And a centipede!" Kakarot added.

"And a centipede…"

Q: interesting. will kale be a legendary super Saiyan like her canon counterpart or has she been relegated to regular low class like Goku?

A: Yeah, Kale's the Legendary Super Saiyan in this story just like in canon. As for when and how she'll unlock the form, that's a secret for now.

And that's another chapter finished. I hope you enjoyed it. I decided to cut out the part with the pterodactyl, because it was pretty awkward to write, and because I like Bulma's pink outfit. Anyways, see you all next week!
