The Eagle Union were no strangers to surprise attacks. Indeed back during the 2nd great war, the Sakura Empire to try and hinder the great power struck first at the infamous attack on Pearl Harbor. However, to compare this attack to Pearl Harbor would be like comparing a campfire to a forest fire. Many were injured in the first stages of the attack and Vestal was working overtime to keep kansen in the fight but one thing is for certain if the kansen cant push the Sirens back the Azur lane and the world is finished.
Cleveland was exhausted, the SIrens were throwing up waves after waves of Jet planes at the Eagle Union pretty Ironic that the Eagle union was succumbing to Carrier-born aircraft seeing as the Eagle Union were the masters of the Aircraft carrier. Unfortunately for the mighty US Carriers many of the Eagle Union carriers were battle-ready only Essex and Enterprise's fighters flew the skies above trying their hardest to support their comrades.
Along with Cleveland was the tsundere/Sis con Montiplier (Don't tell her I said that) Montpelier always stuck around Cleve supporting her whatever way she could, god forbid you did anything to hurt cleve because she would find you and kill you in the most gruesome way possible. Although no matter how strong she was she and Cleve alone could not sustain their AA fire for too much longer they would once again have to abandon their positions and retreat further back into the Eagle Union dorms. Honestly, the two Cleveland class could probably hold the flank themselves but multiple Sirens kept harassing them causing them to have to take their attention away from the battle going on in the Air
"Monty!"
"I'm going to have to fall back in a bit I'm running low on ammo how about you?"
"I'm starting to run low on ammo as well we might wanna start heading back now"
As they finished saying that more Sirens begin to appear and start to close in on their position and these Sirens weren't any joke either they were copies of Purifier and Smasher through Azur Lane didn't know for sure when high ranking sirens weren't able to be present they sent their copies to handle their dirty work and it was the same here. Save for one key detail you wouldn't be able to tell the difference their fighting styles were the same looks, weapons you name it however, for some reason the copies didn't talk which in some cases could be scary enough especially for someone like purifier who always enjoyed talking to her foes.
For the two Cruisers, this was a bad match up Purifier and Smasher were Battleship Sirens Ships like Washington and South Dakato maybe Essex and Enterprise should be the ones handling them.
"We need to run now!"
Cleveland wasn't scared of the sirens but she was scared of losing Monty so she decided the best thing to do was retreat with her
While running Cleve and Monty shot at the two sirens however their puny 6-inch guns though numerous only served to leave scratch marks on the two high-ranking sirens as they continued pushing forward the two. The copies showing a bit of "humanity" Seemed to get tired of the two cruisers annoying little show of defiance and finally fired their fist salvo
The red hot Plasma fired toward Cleveland before Cleveland could even blink it was almost upon her no time to dodge or fire back she slowly acknowledged that this could be the end however she didn't account for one thing her sister ship
Monty pushed Cleve out of the way the beams fired from Smasher Melting her Iron like skin as the two beams exited out her back. Monty's whole body felt like it was on fire her nerves sending bouts of pain everywhere as she fell to the floor Cleveland looked in shock and ran towards the slowly Dying cruiser.
"Monty" she screamed
Cleveland regained her bearings and ran towards her sister ship she held Monty in her arms but she could already see her little sister had already passed her eyes staring blankly into the sky her head lolling from side to side as Cleveland shook her.
Cleveland then heard the footsteps of the Sirens behind her
"Shit" she inwardly screamed though it pained to do so she dropped Monty on the floor leaving her behind as she fell back to the Eagle Union dorm suddenly she felt a huge pain in her leg as she suddenly collapsed to the ground she looked down to see that her left foot was blown off by the Siren laser
She Screamed in Pain tears welling in her eyes the copies of the Siren slowly stalked towards her
"Columbia, Birmingham, Dever, Biloxi, and Monty I'm sorry for being a failure of a sister if we ever meet again I promise to be the best sister ever"
The copy of Purifier grabbed Cleveland by the throat and began to choke her
The cruiser tried to kick and punch with the remaining limbs she gasped for air. Purifier's grip got tighter and stronger
Slowly the fighting from the Cruiser began to cease as she began to lose conscious Purifiertighten her grip one more time before she heard a snap and Cleveland went limp
The Purifier clone threw the dead cruiser to the floor and continued to walk towards the Eagle Union dorm eager to kill more Kansen

Enterprise and Essex stuck together the two carriers launching plane after into the sky though slow the two Carriers were slowly winning the air battle If they could keep it up they could push the siren back and rally with the other nations all they needed was a little bit more time
Essex was really tired being one of the only two carriers fighting was exhausting but thinking back during the war her Senpai i mean Enterprise was the only Fleet Carrier in the pacific for a time Essex was dumbfounded on how Enterprise remained sane during the ordeal but exhausting as it may be she had a job to do and people to protect so she continued to fight without complaints….
