Chapter 2. Receiving Grimoire.
A week passed by greatly for merchants. They acquired a lot of money and got rid of the almost outdated products. Alfons was eager to ride into town as fast as he could so that they packed their things in a hurry. They were a part of a merchant guild called "Hawk's eye", so they were looking forward to taking new supplies from the guilds' branch. When they were leaving the village, Derek looked into the crowd and didn't see Tom.
"I don't see Tom. Do you guys see him?" - said, Derek.
"Neither do I. Probably took it personally. Well, he is a smart guy. He'll figure it out", - Lee responded.
"I hope so.", - mumbled Derek.
The party were heading to the city called Nanto. It was located to the west of Kikka. After a day of going East, the party decided to take a little rest.
"Oi. Lee! Check the wood! I won't get into trouble again because of you!", - shouted Alfons.
"Lee fall asleep. He was busy drinking in the Laisvall, so he should rest a bit.", - said one of the traders.
"Damn Lee. I have told him that drinking too much will put him into the grave... Okay. Derek! Go check the wood!", asked the chief.
"On my way.", said Derek.
When he was lifting one of the logs, Derek saw a surprising image. Boy was laying down on the log below with two bags by his sides. One of the bags was clearly for trash since an apple core dropped from it, when the boy, shocked to see a trader, was a bit scared to see the trader.
"Tom?!", asked Derek while being surprised at the sight he saw.
"What?", said Alfons.
On the sound, all party has gathered around the wagon. Tom, desperate to go with sellers, sneaked into the wagon at night.
"You are going back. Immediately.", said Alfons.
"Please! Allow me to come with you!", Tom begged.
"Why should I?", responded chief.
"I have food for two days. This is enough to reach the destination point, right?", answered Tom. Boy, who the all his life in the village clearly didn't know the extension of the world.
" You are a fool and yet you are lucky. We have to meet a space mage just in the few hours of a ride. If it weren't for him, I would send you back to the village. If you want to come with us so badly, you should stick with us until we reach the meeting point.", said Alfons. He was annoyed by the Toms childish behaviour, but he couldn't leave a kid alone.
"Thanks, chief", responded Tom with a huge grin.
" What's so funny?", countered Alfons but Tom wasn't listening. He was happy and the parents' advice served him well.
As time went on, Tom and the merchants reached the city. Tom, as an orphan, was taken to the church and adopted by local townsmen called Henry. He saw Tom as a servant since he was very old but the two got along just too well. By the time he was adopted, he was twelve years old. Henry's granddaughter Yuki was only 5 years old.
Henry was a great carpenter once. He had his own brigade and was a figure to reckon with. He was on the top but in one moment he took a little loan. It wasn't serious at the time since he had the money to pay back, but he took more and more debts, eventually losing his brigade and status. All that's left is a small flat where he and his granddaughter left and two wagons which he rented to the "Hawk's eye" in an attempt to make some money.
Tom faced the dark side of life once more and this time he faced poverty. Tom saw poverty as a call to action. The constant vigilance and preparedness to work are the traits he had to learn. Work is a must, the idleness is a luxury they couldn't afford. He worked on various jobs to secure the bright future, not for Henry but rather for little Yuki, who Tom saw as a little sister. It is at that time when he decided to become a Magic Knight to pay off the debts.
A few years passed by marked for hard work. Tom was preparing to get his grimoire which must reveal some of his strange abilities.
At home
"To-om. I will go with you.", said Yuki.
"Come on, boy. Don't make me do this farewell thing.", muttered Henry.
"Shi-shi-shi. Yuki, come with me. You will wait for me outside", said Tom to Yuki with a huge grin.
"Yay.", responded Yuki delightfully.
"Well. Here I go!", said Tom with an optimistic tone.
Tower of the mage
Place where grimoires are handed over. Many children are waiting for the day to receive their grimoire. Their books will stay with them for the life and will directly influence their future. An old mage – the head of the ceremony was announcing the start of the tradition.
"Well, well. The time for the receiving your grimoires are finally here.", said the old mage, "Choose your masters, serve them well."
Grimoires flew from the shelves to the hands of their new owners. Tom wasn't aware of the past of his soul. He didn't know that he once was the powerful mage, so when the four-leaf clover flew to Tom, everyone including Tom was shocked.
"Four-leaf? He is so lucky!", said the guy is in jealousy.
"He must be cool", said some random girl.
"Why? Why me?", Tom thought.
Tom wasn't confused without a reason. It is time to reveal Tom's abilities. So:
Tom's grimoire: 4-leaf grimoire .
Magic: Random
Random magic means that he is given the random power of one of Dima's friends.
For example: On Monday he can have Roger's powers of will, but on Tuesday Tom can have Erza's or Lightning Logia powers.
The power level of the magic that he is randomly getting access to is limited by his own strength, that's why he can't use an Ultra Instinct or Gear Fourth without any experience or training.
Tom's grimoire pages are changing in size and amount every day with the change of his powers
(For instance: Fire magic is much easier to understand and use than Luffy's techniques with rubber body.)
If Dima's friend had several types of powers, Tom is available to use them all.
( Luffy has Haki powers and devil fruit powers, so when Tom gets to use Luffy's powers he is able to use them both).
If Dima's friend weakness connected to his magic, Tom will gain that weakness too.
(Drowning in the water if devil fruit powers were picked, or motion sickness in the transport if dragon slayer powers were chosen, etc.).
If Dima's friend power is linked to the weapon, Tom gets this weapon too.
( Zoro's swords or Nami's Clima-tact)
Tom's grimoire is written in understandable language so that Tom can read him.
(It is useful when you are able, for example, to use Erza's magic but you don't know all available costumes you can change into.)
With that being said.
Tom was confused. 4-leaf?. To him? He didn't understand his magic properly before, since in the one day he could use fire magic and the day after he was only able to create mochi and now when he gained his book, he had a lot of questions. He checked his magic today, he managed to make his hand bigger. Tom opened the book, on the first page was written :

Gigantism
And there was a description that he could read. On the next pages were described new things. He knew the gigantism thing, but light magic? Telepathy? He hadn't got even a clue he possessed that abilities.
"May the grimoire guide you on the path of righteousness and good deeds. You are all the mages now. Use your powers wisely and I wish good fortune to you", pronounced Mage closing a ceremony.
Tom found the Yuki while leaving a ceremony:
"Tom! Tom! Tom!", said Yuki grabbing the boy by his doublet, "So what is your grimoire? Show it! Show it! Show it!"
"There", said Tom giving his book to Yuki.
"Wow, it's a 4-leaf grimoire! I knew you are the best, Aniki (Japanese Word for big brother)!", told Yuki with a big smile.
"Let's head back home, shall we?", said Tom wanting to get off the streets, to his safe place, to the home.
"Yes, yes. Let's celebrate!", said Yuki loudly.
"No, I didn't mean...", Tom sighed, "Fine, come on", responded Tom.
"Yes!", said Yuki being delighted by her brother's big win.
At home
"Henry, we are home!", pronounced Tom.
"Finally. How did it go?", asked the old man.
"Fantastic! Aniki has a four-leaf grimoire!" , interrupted Yuki.
"Is that true?", asked old man Tom.
"Yes! Shi-shi-shi!", responded Tom with a huge grin.
"Congrats! What are you planning to do?", said Henry.
"I will probably try to pass an exam to become the Magic Knight.", responded Tom calmly.
"That's cool. I think you will do it, Aniki.", said Yuki rather sadly. Tom sensed it.
"What's wrong? I can feel your sadness.", asked Tom Yuki.
"Well, if you become the knight, I will rarely see you", muttered Yuki.
"Shi-shi-shi. Don't worry, I will write letters to you. Also, knights have vacations, I can see you there.", said Tom trying to cheer her up.
"You will?", asked Yuki.
"Course I do.", said Tom in a kind voice.
From that day, Tom started to train in order to pass an entry exam.
