ARC ONE: WHO ARE WE?

CHAPTER TWO: SWEET DREAMS ARE MADE OF THESE...

Tom was awake, lying in his and Kaz's bed.

He was having strange dreams.

Dreams of him and Nagisa Misumi going on adventures, like some sort of protagonists, or something.

He shook his head, and frowned.

Was there even such a thing as the Deralic tribe? And why were they a fusion of ectoplasmic ghosts, and the things Nagisa fought as a teenager?

And why did they make their way to Perim, exactly?

Tom yawned, and climbed out of bed.

He continued thinking about his dream...

Ron was with a guy named Rookie, which Ron went to school with in this realm.

There was also this one guy running around like some kind of antagonist...

Bakura, or something like that.

Egon also saved Rookie from the Danians, and trained him up.

Passed his test, too, and rejoined Ron in Chicago.

Ronalso survived an incident that made him seem dead, but he was actually now 1% ectoplasm in the dream.

Tom paused, as he poured a glass of water and drank from it.

"Strange dream..." He thought to himself.

He hated when he saw into other realities of himself, especially when it was with others that he recognized in those realities.

Appearances

Misumi Nagisa (美墨 なぎさ Misumi Nagisa?) (Natalie Blackstone in the English dub) is one of the main Cures in Futari wa Pretty Cure and Futari wa Pretty Cure Max Heart.

Nagisa's alter ego is Cure Black (キュアブラック Kyua Burakku?). She has a habit of saying "Unbelievable!" (ありえな~い!! Ariena~i!?) when she is upset, and also "Lucky!" (ラッキー! Rakkī!?) whenever things go her way; otherwise, she might say "Unlucky!" (アンラッキー! Anrakkī!?). Her other catchphrase (especially in the English dub) is "Give me a break!" (勘弁して! Kanben shite!?)

Bio
Appearance

Nagisa has short, ginger hair and light brown eyes with slightly tanned skin. When playing lacrosse she wears some hair up with a pink heart clip. Her casual outfit consists of a white shirt with long black sleeves worn over a short-sleeved pink jacket, a red skirt, and black and white sneakers with light pink socks.

In the Futari wa Pretty Cure Max Heart movie, Nagisa wore a white and orange shirt with a pink vest, khaki skirt, a black wristband, and a pair of white socks with navy and white sneakers. During the party, she wears a reddish-pink dress with black trim and hearts on the skirt, along with black shoes that have pink bows on them and pale pink gloves.

In the Futari wa Pretty Cure Max Heart Movie 2, she wore a thick pink coat with navy blue gloves, loose-fit dark gray pants, and red boots. On her head was pink snow goggles and a pale pink hat. She also wears a pale pink yukata at a different point.

In the HUGtto! movie, she wears a white top with a red heart and the letter N on it beneath a pink-black jacket along with light brown shorts with a belt, black stockings and pink sneakers.

As Cure Black, Nagisa's hair grows out and her bangs are slicked aside. Her eyes sharpen and she gains silver heart earrings. Her outfit is black, composed of a cropped top and a skirt with corner slit to reveal a pair of shorts. Pale pink ruffles line her sleeves and skirt, and mauve fabric covers the collarbone. On her chest is a pale pink ribbon, and she wears a pink belt with a heart buckle. Her boots are dark magenta, worn with black leg warmers lined in white with a pink heart on top, matching her gloves.

In Futari wa Pretty Cure Max Heart, Cure Black's outfit becomes a one piece and she gains a dark magenta vest. The ribbon on her chest gains a pink heart, and her skirt gains pink lining and an additional ruffle layer, the frame of the heart on her belt now gold to match her earrings. Her gloves and leg warmers gain additional pink lining and ruffled trim.

When she gains the Golden Powers in the first Max Heart movie, her outfit turns gold with diamonds replacing the hearts.

As Super Cure Black in the second Max Heart movie, her hair is more vibrant and grows thicker. Her outfit gains additional magenta and gold lining and the ruffles become wing-like. Her ribbon turns yellow and on the collarbone are two hearts. Her leg warmers gain additional hearts and change slightly in shape to match her gloves. Rainbow Cure Black resembles this form, but her outfit loses some of its wing detail in place of fabric, and she gains a small pair of gold wings.
Personality

Nagisa is a star lacrosse player at Verone Academy. She is very energetic and popular among other girls for her passionate nature, much to her dismay. She is weak with academics but her pure spirit makes up for it. She also has a large appetite and loves to eat chocolate, Fujita Akane's takoyaki, and according to Honoka- food with the word "yaki" in it. She can be childish and easily angered and loves to go out and play when it's nice and sunny.

Despite her sporty nature, Nagisa is actually very girly and self-conscious. She has a large collection of stuffed animals and loves to shop, although she tends to squander her money and usually doesn't have any when she really needs it. Nagisa also has a crush on Honoka's childhood friend, Fujimura Shougo, and gets flustered whenever he is around. At times she is shown to be envious of Honoka since she gets confessions and love letters from boys more than twice a month.

Deep down she can be sensitive, and she hates arguing with friends or seeing someone in pain above all else. Nagisa also has a great sense of justice, but it is hidden inside of her and only comes out when someone is in danger. She hates that innocent people get hurt for things they had nothing to do with.
Relationships

Yukishiro Honoka - Although they did not know each other previously, Honoka soon became a good friend of Nagisa after the two of them became Pretty Cure together. At the end of the series, they remained best friends, and Nagisa cannot forgive anyone who hurts Honoka; this is sometimes seen when they are in their Cure forms, as Cure Black gains enormous powers whenever she sees or gets a hint that Cure White is hurt.

Fujimura Shougo - She also has a long-time crush on Fujimura Shougo, who coincidentally is Honoka's childhood friend. She is very shy around him but through Honoka, Nagisa is able to become closer to him.

Family - Her relationship with her family is good. Both of her parents care and worry for both her and her brother Ryouta. Nagisa herself always gets irritated at Ryouta and often uses her "Cobra Twist" to get him to shut up. Despite this, she loves him and will do anything to protect him from danger.

Kujou Hikari - In Max Heart, Nagisa views Hikari as a mysterious girl when she first sees her. However, the two become good friends and their friendship grows to the point where Cure Black refuses the idea of protecting Hikari to ensure the Queen is resurrected. Along with Cure White, she declares their friendship is the only reason they protect Hikari.

Mepple - Mepple is Nagisa's Fairy, kept in a pink cellphone-like device. They often argue and bicker to the point of feuding some times, but like her brother, Nagisa deeply cares about Mepple. When forced to separate from him, she is shown to miss him.

Hino Akane - Towards the end of Pretty Cure All Stars New Stage: Mirai no Tomodachi, all of the Cures are seen interacting with one another. In the pre-credits image, Akane can be seen chatting with Nagisa.
Etymology

Misumi (美墨?): The mi (美?) translates to beauty, and the sumi (墨?) translates to ink, which may be referring to her alter ego as Cure Black in that ink is most commonly black in color.

Nagisa (なぎさ?): A common girl's name in Japanese. While it can be partially translated into many different kanjis, the most common translation as a single kanji is "渚," which means water's edges; beach; shore.

Her name means "beautiful ink shore."

Her name was changed to Natalie Blackstone, also called Nat by her friends, for the English dub.

Natalie means "Christmas Day" in Latin "natale domini[1]". It may also come from the French given name, which is derived from the Latin "Dies Natalis," meaning "Natal Day" or "birthday" in reference to the birth of Christ, and was traditionally given to girls born around Christmas[2]. Nat is the nickname her friends use, and upon becoming friends with Hannah Whitehouse, she lets her call her that instead of her full name. This nickname was created in order to properly edit off the fact that in the original, they began calling each other by their first names rather than by their surnames, which is a special honor in Japanese culture.

Blackstone is a pun about her alter ego as Cure Black.

Cure Black Nagisa's Cure name may be from the symbol "Yin" from the symbol Yin & Yang, in which "Yang" is white, just like Black's partner, Cure White who she is almost exactly opposite from.
History
Futari wa Pretty Cure

Nagisa playing lacrosse.

Nagisa starts her adventure when she finishes a training session for lacrosse. While she is getting her shoes after school at Verone Academy, she and her friends talk about an upcoming meteor shower, which is when Honoka comes and explains that meteors are not dangerous. This is when Nagisa gets to know a little more about her, and expresses jealousy because Honoka is popular with a boy and is really smart. Nagisa is depressed to find out she only receives fan letters from other girls.

Frustrated by this Nagisa complains over her lack of popularity with males when she sees the meteor shower and hurries to make several wishes. Just then, one of the meteors come shooting toward her, hitting her in the forehead. Eventually, the "meteor" was revealed to be Mepple, a strange creature from the Garden of Light. He stays inside what looks like a cell phone since he is from another world and does not have much energy to stay in his true form on Earth. In the meteor, from which he came from, also came a few cards, revealed to be for transformation (for Nagisa), and taking care of him. Although Nagisa finds Mepple scary at first, she agrees to help when Mepple asks her to go to the amusement park to meet his friend Mipple. As soon as they reunite they get attacked by a creature of the Dotsuku Zone and suddenly transform into the legendary warriors, Pretty Cure. They manage to defeat the creature, but Nagisa is against the whole thing about being Pretty Cure.

Nagisa was originally not keen about becoming a Pretty Cure.

As the story progresses, Nagisa comes to accept her role as Cure Black and becomes good friends with Honoka. Throughout the season, they defeat enemy after enemy, and Nagisa also begins to realize what is important to her, and her view of life and justice changes. It is thanks to this that she manages, together with Honoka, to defeat Pisard and Gekidrago. The battles become tougher when the vampire-like creature Poisony appears, as she easily manages to trick the girls. However, they manage to defeat her as well. They never realized, however, that they had killed the older sister of Kiriya, who has been their friend up until now to spy on them. When Kiriya tells this to Honoka, Nagisa is informed the next day, and they are soon forced to fight their former friend. This does not stop Black from trying to reason with Kiriya, and stop him from hurting Honoka's feelings in the fight. In the end, Kiriya finally understands and willingly gives Cure White his Prism Stone before he is taken away by Ilkubo. Cure Black tries to stop Cure White, who tries to follow him in order to stop him. The following day, Nagisa worries over her friend, who is crying by herself every night.

After finally defeating the last servant from the Dotsuku Zone, Nagisa and Honoka are overpowered by the Evil King. However, their courage and hope make them want to fight, and in the end, the Queen comes to the rescue, helping them defeat the Evil King. The battle is now over, however, they soon get a visit from Pollun, the Prince of Light, who is going to stay with Nagisa in order to help the duo fight against the Seed of Darkness, which are creatures that the Evil King managed to make right before he got destroyed. When they awaken, they begin working together in order to revive the Evil King. They eventually kidnap Wisdom, who is able to give the Rainbow Stones to Pollun right before he is taken away, which, in turn, allows him to power up Cure Black and Cure White with the Rainbow Bracelets.

After fighting with Pretty Cure for a long time, the Seeds of Darkness eventually realize that Pretty Cure cannot fight at their strongest without each other, and thus manage to kidnap Cure White and put her in a pit made of darkness. While looking for Cure White, Cure Black realizes that, although she always seems to be the strongest and best, she cannot do anything without Cure White's support and presence. She then calls out Honoka's name and is met by Juna. He tells her that her partner soon will disappear in the darkness, which makes Cure Black's power to go out of control. When she finds the direction toward the core of darkness that surrounds Cure White, she is met by numerous Zakenna. However, her will to rescue Honoka drives her to defeat them all alone, and she eventually manages to save Cure White. Calling Honoka's name, and not Cure White's, she runs over to her and cries, telling her how worried she was.

At the end of the series, when Mepple and Mipple say goodbye to them, Nagisa has become such good friends with them that she cries when they go into their eternal sleep. Although they no longer are Pretty Cure, she and Honoka continue being best friends, and still keeps the Card Commune that Mepple now sleeps in.
Futari wa Pretty Cure Max Heart

At the beginning of their third year of middle school, Nagisa and Honoka start out a little awkward. However, a new Zakenna suddenly comes forth, and they have to run away from it. While they seem to be trapped, a light suddenly shines from their cell phones, and Mepple and Mipple appear. They transform into the Card Communes again, though they look different; they are now Heartful Communes, and the cards have become heart-shaped. Upon transforming, they notice that they look different from the last time, but have to fight before figuring it out properly. During the fight, they realize that they have gotten an amazing power-up in strength, and when they try to do their attack Marble Screw, they add in a "Max" so it becomes even more powerful.

Sometime later, they meet a mysterious first-year middle school student named Kujou Hikari, who tells about the place Nagisa has drawn on a paper for the class. Eventually, it is revealed that she can transform into Shiny Luminous and that she has her own amazing powers. The Elder and Wisdom later return in order to explain these events to the girls and to also tell them the sad news: the Queen has disappeared and is now separated in three representatives of her will, heart, and life. They soon figure out that Hikari is the representative of the Queen's life, and that is why she seems to be so confused in the Garden of Rainbows.

Nagisa with Honoka and Hikari.

Throughout the season, the duo goes through hard times against the new evils, who are guarding the representative of the Evil King's life, who looks and acts like a little boy. Eventually, the Evil King is resurrected, despite Hikari's efforts to not sacrifice the little innocent boy. Pretty Cure tries to defend the Earth while Hikari goes into another dimension in order to try and become the Queen again to help the girls. During the fight, however, Baldez actually absorbs the Evil King into himself, and in doing this, becomes the new Evil King. The Pretty Cures are utterly defeated, but then Cure Black remembers how she once hurt herself pretty badly in a race when she was young, and how her parents told her not to lose courage just because something went wrong. Together with Cure White remembering Honoka's grandmother's words about hope, they stand up and continue fighting.

Using Marble Screw Max Sparkle, they think they have won, but it is in vain when Baldez tells them that he is impossible to destroy, and destroys the whole city. In depression, Pretty Cure stand beside the tree Honoka's grandmother loves, and begin remembering things they have forgotten to do that day; Nagisa has yet to finish her homework and has not done all the preparations for the graduation yet. In the end, when Cure Black tells Mepple that they must be allowed to talk about it even in a situation like this, Cure White realizes that every heart has the right to live and live it as they want. With new power, Pretty Cure tries to fight against Baldez once again. Just as they are about to be crushed by the now giant Baldez, the Queen is regenerated and saves them. An illusion of Shiny Luminous tells them that this is their final moment, and they combine all of their powers to use the ultimate attack: Extreme Luminario Max.

After Baldez is defeated, the Pretty Cure realize that they will never see those from the Garden of Light again and that they will never become Pretty Cure again, either. They then de-transform back to Honoka and Nagisa and are sent to the graduation ceremony. Although they wonder how they got there, they remember their little mascots and become depressed. They still feel down at Akane's shop, where they suddenly meet Hikari again, telling them how incredible the graduation was. Mepple and Mipple also show up, and Hikari also has with her the boy who represents the Evil King's life, now named Hikaru. It is revealed that Hikari and the Queen managed to separate and that Mepple and Mipple are now able to fully live in the Garden of Rainbows. Happy that she and Mepple will always be together, Nagisa cries in joy and ends the series by saying "I can't believe this!" when Mepple mentions that he is still hungry.

Cure Black's intro in the first season

Cure Black (キュアブラック Kyua Burakku?) is Nagisa's alter ego, and she addresses herself as the emissary of light, like Cure White. Being the strongest in the duo, she is usually the one laying the most attacks, though she is not as agile as Cure White. She uses her fists more than Cure White while Cure White uses her legs more when attacking. As a Cure, she becomes much more serious and reveals more of her views on justice. Together with Cure White, she can perform the Marble Screw and Rainbow Therapy attacks. Later, when the duo is powered up by the Rainbow Bracelets from Pollun, they can do a new attack called Rainbow Storm.

Cure Black's intro in the second season

In Futari wa Pretty Cure Max Heart, the Pretty Cure's power has increased in speed and strength from their original power, and their special attack is powered-up to Marble Screw Max, and later to Marble Screw Max Spark with the Sparkle Bracelets. Together with Shiny Luminous, they can also do the Extreme Luminario attack, which in the final episode is upgraded to Extreme Luminario Max.

It is also revealed that even though Cure White is not around, Cure Black can use incredible powers by herself, but this depends largely on her emotions and will. The most significant time this is shown is when the Seeds of Darkness kidnap White and tell Black that she (Cure White) will soon die. They recall this event often in the later season, and Cure Black's power will often spike when she is in great indignation. Additionally, while Cure White and Cure Black have both shown to have fairly impressive physical feats while de-transformed, Cure Black has actually been able to defend direct attacks from one of the Seeds of Darkness, Regine, without getting hurt.

As she and Cure White have grown stronger, they have learned certain auxiliary abilities as well. Near the Max Heart finale, Black and White learn to use wind blasts through their palms just like the enemies. They used this technique to blast Uraganos away and to attack and even destroy weaker enemies in movies after. Cure Black has also shown to execute energy punches glowing with golden energy. She used this move to destroy a massive energy ball of fired by Baldez. She also used this move again in episode 37 in HUGtto! Pretty Cure.
The Ultimate Power of the Queen

While this power was never given a clear name, the Evil King identified this power as 'The ultimate power inherited from the Queen'. This power only appears in the finales of Futari wa Pretty Cure and Futari wa Pretty Cure Max Heart. When Black and White's powers are maxed out well beyond their prior limits due to their resolve, for a brief period of time a gold aura will appear and their power will increase even further by an enormous degree.

The first time it was used by themselves on the Evil King, their already enhanced Rainbow Storm nearly quadrupled in size and overwhelmed the Evil King despite absorbing the power of creation.

The second time is it was used was fighting Evil King Baldez in the finale of Max Heart. Their Sparkle Bracelets suddenly glows gold, and despite the Evil King maxing his fighting form to its limit, Black and White completely overpowered him and then deliver a double kick with a red meteor-like aura that nearly kills him.
Golden Powers

Cure Black's Golden Powers.

In the first movie of Futari wa Pretty Cure Max Heart, Cure Black, along with Cure White and Shiny Luminous, gains an upgraded version of her outfit thanks to the power of the Diamond Line, accessories of the queen in the Garden of Hope. This form is not seen again after the movie, most likely because it needs the power of the accessories to be activated, and it is no longer possible for the girls to visit the Garden of Hope again.
Power of the Phoenix

Super Cure Black

In Futari wa Pretty Cure Max Heart 2: Yukizora no Tomodachi, when Cure Black and Cure White give all of their strength to protect Hinata from Frozen and Freezen, they do not have enough energy left to fight, and in their last try to keep the two villains away from their friends, they freeze the girls. Hinata is touched that it is possible to care so much for a friend, awakens from her icicle, and sends her warmth to Pretty Cure, melting the ice and giving them a new power.

She gets boosted powers, as she easily manages to fight Frozen with closed eyes without getting hit once. It also seems like their minds are much calmer in this form, as neither of the girls does anything rash or fast; they just dodge and wait for the final strike.

In this form, they use an even stronger version of Marble Screw Max Sparkle, demonstrating their great friendship against Frozen and Freezen's friendship. After defeating the ice duo, this upgraded version of Black and White disappears and has never been seen again. This may be because it was summoned by Hinata, who now is in the Garden of Clouds as a fully realized Phoenix. However, in Pretty Cure All Stars DX 2: Kibou no Hikari - Rainbow Jewel o Mamore!, Cure Black's Cure Rainbow form resembles this upgrade.
Cure Rainbow Black

Cure Rainbow Black

Cure Rainbow Black (キュアレインボーブラック Kyua Reinbō Burakku?) is an upgrade Cure Black gains in Pretty Cure All Stars DX 2: Kibou no Hikari - Rainbow Jewel o Mamore!. Together with the others' upgrades, the group of seventeen girls form the group Cure Rainbow. This upgraded outfit resembles that of Cure Black's upgrade in Futari wa Pretty Cure Max Heart 2: Yukizora no Tomodachi, except not using feathers on her clothes, but rather extra cloth, and now has a pair of small, golden wings.
Transformations

Dual Aurora Wave! - Misumi Nagisa's transformation with Yukishiro Honoka. She can only transform when she is with Honoka.

Attacks

Marble Screw - Cure Black holds hands with Cure White, and she initiates the attack by summoning crackling black lightning from her hands, and in turn, Cure White does the same with her respective color. They declare the attack's accompanying catchphrase and name and together, they fire the lightning blast at the enemy.

Rainbow Storm - With the power of the Rainbow Bracelets, Cure Black and Cure White hold hands and shoot a beam of rainbow-colored energy in a similar manner as Marble Screw.

Marble Screw Max - A powered-up version of Marble Screw, with Cure Black and Cure White charging their lightning energy and then shouting out "Max!," before bringing forth a powerful beam of black and white lightning.

Marble Screw Max Spark - An even more powerful version of Marble Screw Max, greatly enhanced by the Sparkle Bracelets. The lightning beam in Marble Screw Max grows into an even larger blast of rainbow energy with black and white lightning being emitted in the attack.

Extreme Luminario - A group finishing move that was done by Cure Black, Cure White and Shiny Luminous. Shiny Luminous summons the Heartiel Baton, in order for Cure Black and Cure White to start the attack incantations after their individual poses. Cure Black and Cure White hold hands, then draw back their hands until a giant rainbow heart appears before them. A shining explosion of light is shot out from the heart.

Extreme Luminario Max - The ultimate version of Extreme Luminario. When Cure Black and White thrust their hands forward, this time, they shout out "Max!" before a surge of bright, shining light fused with black and white lightning bursts out and continually grows larger and larger.

Kaz got up, mumbling.

He hugged Tom's soft back (as Tom had gained quite a bit of weight since he was at his prime as a teenager), and smiled.

"Honey... why are you up?"

Tom paused.

"...I got business to attend to."

Kaz raised an eyebrow.

"You've been having strange dreams, too?"

"Y-yeah... I have." Tom stuttered, smiling sheepishly. "I guess it's nothing too concerning."

Kaz smiled, and hugged Tom.

"Well, you wanna hear my strange dream?"

Tom, being his lawfully-wedded husband, had no choice but to listen.

"So, the Adventurer's Club were my bodyguards, and were the princes and princesses of the Sirius System. I was in a relationship with this guy with weird hair... I believe his name was Yugi Muto. I got some weird golden sword thing because I was still king of the Tuihan Empire, but also of Egypt for some reason? I got some weird card from a man who called himself Bakura, when I won the card from him after I won a tournament. Also, did I mention that the golden sword had the spirit of a past life I apparentally lived, that being of Emperor Imperia?"

Kaz rubbed the back of his neck.

"I swear, this is probably harmless, but... it's not too concerning."

Tom nodded and smiled, looking outside, wondering if that's all true in some other universe...

Socks watched the two from his part of the polycule bed.

"...You two coming back to bed, or what?"

Tom and Kaz yelped as Socks spoke up.

"...Maybe after Tom eats." Kaz responded.

Socks grumbled, and then rolled on his right side, spooning Antonia while Bolo sleepily hugged Socks.

"Whatever. Just come back to bed once you're done."

Personality
SRR sprite - redbook There happens to be a Library article on this topic: Bolo at the Shantae Wiki Library

Bolo is described as a "block-head hero for hire". Supposedly, he springs to life when he has a chance to fight, but he's often left behind during Shantae's adventures and has yet to show off these skills.

Bolo is frequently trying to seduce girls or spy on them, including Risky Boots in the first game, but fails every time. He's shown to be jealous of Bran-Son's popularity. However, he has a more argumentative brother-sister relationship with Shantae. Bolo serves as a sparring-partner and punching bag for Shantae, and as an assistant for Mimic. Bolo is the one who taught Shantae her Fighter Moves.

It is revealed in the third game that Bolo is nearsighted, although this may be just him being too literal.

He first appears when Shantae visits his gazebo in Water Town to ask about Risky Boots and the Dribble Fountain. Bolo tells her that Risky indeed came, and as he is completely submissive because of her charms, he indicated her the way to the Fountain. Shantae berates him and tells him to meet her there. He later meets Shantae at the Dribble Fountain to open it as promised, and stays outside, in case Risky would try to flee. However, when Shantae reunites with him after exploring the labyrinth, she finds him knocked out by Risky (and visibly delighted for that). Therefore, she scolds him once again and then heads to Oasis Town to meet Sky (which, coincidentally, is near where his Granny claimed the Golem Stone was hidden). From then on, he remains in his gazebo and gives advice to Shantae on her destination whenever she comes to visit.
Risky's Revenge

He is first seen greeting Shantae after she defeated some monsters and telling her that he was going to the Relic Hunter Expo, asking her if she wants to come with him. He also informs her that Sky and Wrench also flew in that morning to see it; this reminds Shantae of the egg she was taking care of for Sky. When Shantae returns with the egg Bolo notes that it smells like his Grandma. He then berates her, calling her the worst egg-sitter ever and not to blame him if Sky finds out.

Later at the Expo, after Mimic opens up his discovery Bolo and Sky note that it looks like an oil lamp. Risky then appears and takes the lamp, and Mimic tells that either him or Sky to go after it but Shantae goes ahead of them. He can later be met alongside Mimic in the Relic Hunter Hall and provides tips if talked to. After Shantae is done with the Hypno Tower, Sky and Bolo move to Shantae's lighthouse, and inform her there that Mimic is missing. The Squid Baron then arrives to tell Shantae he's been abducted by Rottytops (who betrayed Shantae), Abner Cadaver and Poe, and from then on, Sky and Bolo simply encourage Shantae to get him back and stay behind until the end. During the ending in front of the lighthouse, after Shantae has lost her genie powers, Sky, Bolo and Mimic promise they will help her protect Scuttle Town from Risky and even Rotty from then on.
The Pirate's Curse

Bolo appears near the beginning of the game, as he is shown defending Scuttle Town against an attack by the Ammo Baron, alongside Sky and Wrench. He later appears on the other side of town with Sky, warning Shantae that the Baron is waiting ahead. Later Shantae finds him outside Sequin Land Palace just after installing the new lock on the door wrong, he is surrounded by Zombie Children and Shantae must find Flesh Pops to give to the children to save him and Bolo gives her the key to the door which was in his mouth. Later on, he helps Shantae get the Death Mask and reveals that he is nearsighted. Later on, he joins the Techno Baron because the X-ray Specs supposedly made him look smart, which results in him -indirectly- saving the day by failing to assemble the weapon correctly.
Watch Quest!

Bolo appears alongside Shantae as a playable character in Apple Watch game: Watch Quest!. However, he is not the same Bolo from the Series making him an "alternate universe" counterpart to regular Bolo. While his appearance is mostly the same, he wears a red cloak and wields a greatsword as opposed to his normal ball and chain.
Half-Genie Hero

During Shantae's story mode, he attempts to help her rescue the maidens that the Techno Baron has kidnapped, but ends up stuck in the factory himself, eventually getting freed by Shantae. After the Techno Baron is foiled, Bolo spends the remainder of the game in Mimic's workshop, and later shows up in the good ending.

In Friends To The End, Bolo, Rottytops, and Sky enter Shantae's mind in order to reverse the effects of the dark magic. While trying to help Shantae, Bolo often gets insulted and ridiculed by his companions, who often argue with each other instead of helping. However, he's surprisingly level headed and does well at keeping the team together. Towards the end of game, Sky admits that he's one of the most determined people she's ever known.
Abilities

As Shantae's sparring partner, punching bag and partly combat teacher, he possesses huge strength lying within him. During combat, Bolo relies mostly on martial arts, brute strength and his own equipment, however he's capable of using magic to summon some items to help him out in dire situations.

In the game Bolo's abilities and weapons which he can use are:

Bolo's Flail - Bolo's main and strongest weapon. It possesses a decent range and deals six damage points at maximum level. He's capable of destroying large stone blocks with it and pushing boxes.
Spring Claw - Bolo uses his grappling hook to grab onto pegs, rings and attack flying enemies.

Spike Balls - By using Special Move that consumes his Dream Magic, Bolo can create spike balls that bounce and attack enemies. He can create up to two balls that deal five damage points at maximum level.
Determination - It's revealed by Sky in the battle against Nega-Shantae that while not being the smartest, Bolo possess incredible will to fight that allows him to see through any obstacles.

Seven Sirens

Bolo helps carry luggage off the airship when he arrives on Siren Island with Shantae, Mimic and Sky. His hotel room is on the Far West side of the island, and while he can initially be found there, he later moves to Tree Town looking for something to eat. Unlike Sky and Mimic, Bolo doesn't warn Shantae not to go out by herself, though Shantae takes his silence as a sign that he agrees with Sky and Mimic ("Even Bolo's on their side!"). He inadvertently helps Shantae with her quest by directing her to the barnacle in his trashcan in his hotel room, and later by trading some metal nuts and bolts he was chewing on for some melba toast. Later, he travels down to the Squid Pit along with Sky to keep the island from exploding while Shantae works to rescue Rottytops.

Risky Revolution

He appears in the demo and Shantae complains to him about the music. He would have been a playable character in multiplayer battle mode, but the game got cancelled.

Trivia

According to most of the games' spritework, Bolo is usually the tallest character between himself, Sky, and Shantae. However, Sky is taller than Bolo in Half-Genie Hero.
Watch Quest! Bolo is strikingly similar to Ike from the Fire Emblem series.
Bolo is always going on about how cute various girls in the franchise are (including zombies, mermaids and even Risky), yet even though girls have flirted with him, Bolo has been unsuccessful in landing a date for the entire franchise.
In the first game, Bolo asks Shantae to tell him if she sees any cute zombies. Yet in Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, Bolo gets nervous when Rottytops flirts with him.
Bolo's theme[3] belonged to Scuttle Town in the orginal GBC Shantae game.

In Crossover Chaos, Bolo is bisexual (leaning heavily towards women, though he doesn't mind a man or two once in a while) and is in Socks' polycule.

He is still a fighter, but rarely fights nowadays, as Socks is usually the one to rush out into battle first, leading Bolo to pick up the slack in the back.

He has the same general personality as he does in the Shantae franchise.

Honey Comb stared out of the window of the Toppat Clan space station, staring at the planet of Arda, deep in her thoughts.

It's been months since she has done a mission and she felt like she was out of it, but she needed to get back on her feet somehow.

She huffed and went off to the library to overlook some missions she could find.

Her fellow comrades were reading some books quietly and she overhears them talking about dealing with ninjas.

"Ninjas? really?" One of them asked.

"Yeah, I was with few of my friends until we encountered ninjas. One of them a very skilled one that I narrowly escaped!" one of her team members said to the other.

Honey Comb huffed and rolled her eyes, doubting it.

"Not sure if he followed me here or not..." One of the men said.

"Ninjas are mysterious..."

HONEY COMB

Original Series: Crossover Chaos (Henry Stickmin-based original character)

Honey Comb is an original character by Jessica McKinney, a young girl who appears to be an anthropomorphic bee.

She is a member of the Crossover Chaos universe's Toppat Clan, and used to work for Lord Umber of the Umberian Empire (Peter Griffin).

She seems to hate the man, and often calls him insulting names now that she's away from his military forces.

She claims to be from another planet, but it is unknown which planet it is.

A man walked into the library.

He had a very large nose, and a mustache...

He seemed to be finishing a conversation on his holophone with a woman named "Sapphire", and was telling her that he loved her.

He smiled, and then hung up, and then sat down near a bookcase.

He adjusted his hat, and started reading a book...

He seemed to be interested in the ninjas, too, it seemed like...

Honey Comb stared at him and raised an eyebrow.

She had never seen him before, so she walked over and cleared her throat.

"Hi..." she muttered, not really being very friendly with her greeting.

Nario, the man, raised his eyebrow, and cleared his throat.

"Hello..."

He paused, and then looked at Honey Comb, not sure how to talk to her, as he was cautious about talking to strangers.

"...How are you?"

He smiled, probably confusing the living crap out of her at that moment.

Not that Honey Comb knew that Nario had other plans...

NARIO OF THE SILVER CASTLE

Original Series: GEOWeasel (2000s) (Nar)

Weas' sidekick in GEOWeasel, a Pinky-like figure to Weas' Brain. He is the goofy comic relief (alongside Jimbob), and loves video games, and dancing goofily to Muzak, so much so that he has an album in his album collection called "That's What I Call Muzak!". He seems to be a self-insert in the original show for the show's creator, Niko Anesti.

In Crossover Chaos, Nar, referred to by his original name of Nario, is a darker and edgier figure then the original versions.

Nario has suffered from some traumatic incident (the details are shrouded in secret in Crossover Chaos, but it also involved Sapphire, and both survived), and is not his old, happier, goofier self.

He, instead, fulfills a more Lancer-like role, and is an assassin for GEOWeasel, and is very protective over Mitri, his younger brother.

He is rivals with the Crossover Chaos version of Matt Ishida, and there are often comparisons made between the two in the original saga's text.

In the Paragons Discord, however, other things were going on...

(Author's Note: FFnet seems to hate the duck and hippo emojis and the at symbol, so imagine there's some at symbols before the "everyone" and the character's names in conversation, a duck emoji after Duckie's name, and the hippo emoji after Harvey's name)

Socks🐶: yo everyone
Socks🐶: guess where me, Duckie and Elaine🌊 have been
Izzy🐞: Socks, Elaine's been gone for three weeks...?
Izzy🐞: Where have you been hiding her?
Socks🐶: lemme just

Socks sent a few images of Elaine, but some things were different about her.

She has some extra tattoos on her body, in grey, like her Crest of Reliability, including some grey markings underneath her eyes, hidden behind her glasses, but slightly visible. They were also glowing that same grey as her crest did back when she was a child, making them wonder if the glow in her tattoos was related.

Another thing that was different about her was that her hair was starting to get long again, and was now almost past her shoulders.

The last thing that Izzy noticed, was...

How beautiful she looked, and how her look seemed to balance out both masculine and feminine energies.

The hypermasculinity of her jawline (as it was still very much the Kido jawline, and didn't really want to shave that down for personal reasons, as she didn't care too much to pass, as much as she wanted to), and strong muscles (by god, Izzy hadn't seen muscles that large on anything except for an animated character before!), and the hyperfemininity of her long eyelashes, her soft lips, and her estrogen-given curves, given to her because of her E shots.

Izzy🐞: a

Izzy went offline for 3 minutes, and then reacted with the swirling heart emoji on each image that Socks had sent of Elaine.

Izzy🐞: What have you done with her, Socks?

Izzy🐞: She's beautiful!

Socks🐶: i'm training her to be a Zephyrian Spellsword, and she's taking it quite well.

Socks🐶: i'm surprised how well the estrogen shots have been doing on her as well

Socks🐶: i thought her grendel hormones wouldn't react that well to her taking E shots y'know

Harvey: socks? responsible?

Harvey: what has she done to you?

Socks🐶: hehe

Socks🐶: i have my ways, bro~

Mae🚫: Jelly! Eh...I love my hubby anyway~

Mae🚫: He's very toxic, if ya know what I mean~

Tom🔷: you mean it's because he wears a gas mask to breathe some days?

Tom🔷: you know, void touched and all?

Mae🚫: Maybe? :3

Tom🔷: omg you have to stop being so thirsty for that man, Mae🚫

Tom🔷: I know he's got the gas breath due to the void and all, but he's also literally dying because of it

Honey Comb stared at Nario, and was just a little bit skeptical of him.

Mostly because...

She had never seen him around, and Reginald would've probably announced new members of the clan, too...

Nar raised a hand.

"I'm part of GEOWeasel. I'm pretty sure we do the same thing as... whatever you do."

He paused, and then said...

"...Also, I have no idea how I ended up here."

(Author's Note: FFNet doesn't seem to like the sun or lightning bolt emojis, so imagine that next to Tai's name, and the lightning bolt emoji next to Kaz's name.)

Tai sent the "go to horny jail" meme to the chat, and at'd everyone, before sending a few messages.

Tai: it's nice you guys are out in the ichavian-zephyrian mountains

Tai: because me and matt are right on the other side of the mountains from you xD

Socks🐶: oh?

Socks🐶: u guys doin' ichavian giantslayer training?

Tai sent an image of Matt training hard, with tats on his body that were glowing blue.

They could barely see it because the blue glow was so bright, but he was holding an axe, similar to Elaine's weapon, Dawne.

Tai: u could say that, yes!

Tai: also i'm training myself in the styles of ichavian giantslayer,,, and,,, uh,,,

Tai showed an image of himself holding a *gigantic* sword, his goggles over his eyes, and everyone could see the tattoos glowing orange in the image.

Tai: i'm uh... training myself in the forgotten ways of the nyagatongan sunsword

Tai: i mean,,, leon didn't do it

Socks🐶: oh, leon didn't do that?

Tai: yeah, he didn't

Tai: so i gotta pick up the slack

Tai: because leon wanted to be a "non-traditional prunelle", whatever that means

Tai: if u want to look at a non-traditional prunelle, just look at your own dang half-brother and half-sister, taichi and hikari? O?

Kaz: ok no need to get edgy, tai

Tai: and besides, I could be better than Elaine ;3

Izzy🐞: oh hardy har hard...

Jess👿: ..uhh...guys, I think I may have to go to Horny Jail anyway ^^;

Tai: why?

Jess showed everyone a picture of Christian Brutal Sniper as a fluffy dragon snake, holding Jess up, smirking.

Tai: Dangit, Jess!

Tai: Well, if he eats you, don't come crying to me!

Izzy🐞: xD

Elaine got online, and then saw the image of Christian Brutal Sniper being a fluffy dragon snake.

Elaine🌊: OMG SO FLUFFEH! OwO

Izzy🐞: h

Izzy🐞: hi elaine,,, 3

Elaine🌊: hey, baby~

Elaine🌊: when i finish this training...?

Izzy🐞: YES I WOULD LOVE TO CUDDLE

Elaine🌊: ...

Elaine🌊: 😳

Elaine🌊: oh

Elaine🌊: you're missing me a lot, huh? :3c

Izzy🐞: Yeah, because you've been gone for three weeks... and then you became way more pretty, and I was so worried about you...

Elaine🌊: i will be back, babe, no worries

Elaine🌊: it could be anywhere between three to six months for my whole training...

Elaine🌊: u know how it is...

Izzy🐞: m

Izzy went offline.

Tai: ...

Tai: Can't believe you guys are being thirsty around me

Tai: 😤

Socks🐶: Looks like ur salty, m'dude

Socks🐶: like all the salt water u drink at the islands

Tai: oh ok

Tai: i walked right into that one didn't i

Nario raised an eyebrow in response to Honey Comb's question.

"I'm not a thief... I'm an assassin, yes, but I'm not a thief. I tried to attack one of the ice cream restaurants in Reddington a while back... Whit's End, I believe it was..."

He paused, and then looked down.

"Y'know, in the middle of the second war...? Dressed up as a little schoolgirl, teleported away, didn't even get a prison sentence or nothin'?"

Nario paused.

"Whittaker had the Sorrow Watch, and I wanted to steal it."

"...Wow..." Honey Comb responded in slight horror.

"So... you live to tell a tale, huh? Bold of you to avoid the fate of prison time." Honey Comb said.

"Everyone here also has their stories, hell I used to work with a really fat guy called Lord Umber, until I gave up being a soldier and joined the Toppat Clan. Now I feel like a family around here and the hats are our badges around here..."

Tai: Well, in any case... I'm hoping to get strong enough soon, I'm so excited with this training, not gonna lie! ^^

Nario raised his eyebrows, looking like he (probably) knew what guy she (probably) worked for.

"...Did you really work for a certain Lord Umber of the House of Griffin?"

Nario looked at his fingers, fiddling with the knives strapped to them.

"Or some other really fat evil guy, and you're bluffing that it was Lord Umber because you can't remember his name? They're a dime a dozen in the Exoverse... that and rich evil guys. Sometimes they're both really fat and really rich."

Elaine🌊: You know, Tai...

Elaine🌊: I bet I can be better then you at my training...?

Elaine paused for a second before she continued replying.

Elaine🌊: I knew we never used to try and compete as kids, but...?

Elaine: Let's see who's the strongest one at the end, huh? :3

Socks🐶: oh no i can just feel her tail wagging from that comment

Elaine🌊: Hey, I'm a killer and a healer, I gotta at least train up my killing part of my skills with you, don't I?

Socks🐶: oh

Socks🐶: yeah that's tru

Tai: She ain't lying, and truthfully Elaine has changed a lot since we were kids.

Tai: I guess we get to see who's best at being strong then, huh?

Tai: (studying to be a doctor my furry nekonian tail...)

Jess👿: Oh lord... is there gonna be a bet?

Tai: Oh good idea, Jess.

Jess👿: ...hecc.

"Lord Umber, yes." Honey Comb responded. "I remember he had that stupid laugh."

Nario chuckled.

"Ah, yes, that laugh."

Elaine🌊: Hah, yes.
Elaine🌊: A bet.
Elaine🌊: I mean, if I remained a doctor at the hospital, I wouldn't be able to do this...
Elaine🌊: So I gladly accept the idea of a bet.
Vinnie👽: oh no, i don't like the idea of that elaine
Elaine🌊: Well I still have my doctor's training
Elaine🌊: So if either of us get hurt during this I can use the good ol' fashioned medical arts
Elaine🌊: But yeah
Elaine🌊: I gladly accept the idea of a bet and I'm glad I get to do this stuff with you, Tai. :3

Nario chuckled.

"Ah, got that right, then..."

He snapped his fingers, and then looked at Honey Comb.

"Bastard's been trying to screw up my life too, for the past few years..."

He paused.

"And then the Paragons died...? Ascended? The whole thing with the Mo'heads seems to be screwed up, y'know?"

Prince Haiku and Princess Mitzuki could sense something bad about to happen with the Paragons.

They knew they weren't allowed to have Discords (Magical Realms royal rules, after all), so Haiku looked at Mitzuki instead, as Mitzuki raised an eyebrow, knowing exactly what Haiku meant by that look.

"If anything goes wrong..." Mitzuki started, nodding.

"We'd better keep watch."

Haiku snapped his fingers, smiling.

"How do you know I was about to say that?"

Mitzuki laughed.

"C'mon, Haiku, we're twins! Twins seem to have a psychic connection, especially us!"

Haiku laughed.

"Okay, okay. True."

The two transformed into their golden dragon forms, and then set their sights for the skies.

In a crumpled little heap of blankets near where the twins had been standing, lay a Wes'vit, unconscious still, his orange hair messy and dark with blood.

He stirred when they got up, and flew away, and mumbled to himself.

He was not well enough to be conscious yet.

Tai: ...well honestly I have thought of this for a while now...

Tai: If I lose, I'll give you my goggles Elaine.

Elaine🌊: 0_0 your...your goggles?! B-But Tai, your goggles are your everything! You had it from when we met to... like now! Why would you give me your goggles?!

Tai: Listen Elaine, you have went through alot and even I had my ups and downs! Hell, I feel like you're more of a hero than I at this point, and this is the crest of courage speaking this out!

Elaine🌊: ...dude...

Elaine🌊: ...

Elaine🌊: Okay, I'll do it.

Elaine🌊: I know you're down on your luck, Tai, but we'll see what I can do.

Tai: You will?

Tai: ...Are you okay?

Elaine🌊: Yeah, but are *you* okay, Tai?

Tai: 😬

Tai: Let's talk about that in our DMs

Elaine🌊: Yeah, I know you've been feeling rather inadequate...

Elaine🌊: But I gladly will take the bet.

Tai: And the goggles?

Elaine🌊: ...I guess the goggles too.

Tai: Ok, it's a deal then.

Elaine🌊: Absolutely.

Tai: ✌️

Tai then logged out for a little bit.

END CHAPTER TWO

Socks' Polycule:

Kaz

Tom

Bolo

Antonia (Peyton)

With more coming soon...

Author's Notes:

Also, yes, Tai is depressed, and that's why he wants to give up the goggles of leadership to Elaine.
