Jennie
The following week passed in a blur, Lisa and I were completely back to normal, no awkwardness at all now which was great. I was loving my new school, Rosé and I had become great friends and I started hanging around with her group of friends too, they were all really nice. Everyone was nice to me at school since I was friends with Ms Popular. Lisa was her usual charming protective self around me I had a feeling she was warning the guys away, but I was still getting hit on a lot! I turned them all down nicely. Today was Friday again. I was perched on the bleachers with Rosé and Jisoo, wearing Lisa's shirt again, we were happily tucking into hotdogs. I was really trying to watch the game this time, Lisa had been trying to teach me some of the rules ready to watch but everything was going so fast I couldn't keep up.
"Hey, you never called." A sexy voice said as someone sat next to me, I recognised his voice immediately, GD. I tried not to look at him I didn't want to have to look at his hotness again, he was too old for me. I smiled to myself, well that doesn't mean I can't do a little flirting.
"Hmm, I had better things to do." I said waving a hand dismissively.
"Better things? What can be better than going out on a date with me?" he asked a little shocked, wow he really wasn't used to rejection. Not that I'm surprised with the way he looks I bet he has girls falling at his feet everyday.
"Washing my hair, walking the dog, cleaning the house, you know that kind of thing." I said turning to him for the first time. Oh dear God he is even hotter than I remembered. His blue eyes were shining with amusement.
"Well you don't know what your missing out on." He said with a cocky smile.
"Hmm, I could probably guess actually, some crappy food, maybe a crappy movie where you would insist on sitting in the back so we could make out, and then depending on how well the date went there may be a little action in the car as you dropped me off, am I close?" I asked raising an eyebrow.
He laughed, "Pretty close." He said shaking his head amused.
He lent in close. "You know I really like a challenge." He whispered in my ear sending shivers down my spine again.
"Well then your definitely in the right place, I can be quite challenging." I whispered back with a seductive wink.
"I can see that." He said slinging an arm around my shoulder, I elbowed him in the side quickly and stood up,
"Come on Yoon move your skinny ass! That ball's not gonna catch itself!" I shouted, giggling as he waved and shook his head at me, I really liked Yoon we teased each other constantly, he was a really nice guy.
As I sat back down I was careful to put a little space between GD and I, but it didn't matter, he moved up next to me again as soon as I was on the bench. "You busy tonight?" he asked with a smile, I nodded slowly fighting a smile. "And tomorrow?" he asked I nodded again, "And I suppose the day after that?" he said with a sigh. I nodded again and hid a smile at his playful annoyance, I could tell that he was actually quite enjoying the chase, especially if this was his first one.
"I'm not giving up, I'll come here every week and ask you out until you say yes," he said running a finger up my leg slowly.
"GD honestly, you're wasting your time, I mean do you even remember my name?" I asked looking at him, he nodded his head and looked a little hurt.
"Of course I do Jennie, I haven't been able to stop thinking about you since last Friday." He said frowning as if he was admitting a weakness.
I smiled a little inside, Oh my God that's so sweet. No Jennie, he's a player he's trying to get into your pants that's all. "Look GD, I don't know how old you think I am, but I'm only sixteen." I said shaking my head, he gasped a little taken aback.
"Oh Shit! Really?" he asked shocked looking at me with wide eyes, "I thought you were eighteen, you're so close with Manoban, she's a senior so I thought you were too." hYe said shaking his head slowly looking at the floor.
"So like I said, you're wasting your time." I said shrugging and turning back to the game expecting that to be the end of the conversation, it wasn't.
"So you just turned sixteen or..." he asked trailing off looking at me hopefully.
"No I'll be seventeen next month, on the 25th." I said confused, he looked a little more pleased.
"Ok well then you're only a year off." he said with a wink. What the hell did he mean by that? A year off of what? I gave him my best 'what the fuck' face and he laughed,
"A year off what?" I asked raising my eyebrows.
"You know what I'm gonna call you from now on?" he asked ignoring my question, I smiled great what the hell is this gonna be about? "Jailbait." He said with a smirk.
I laughed "Jailbait?" I asked shaking my head,
"Yep, because if you keep looking so damn hot your probably gonna get me thrown in there." he said not smiling anymore, was it just me or did he look sad when he said that?
I frowned. "You'd better stop talking to me then." I said watching the game again but I couldn't get my mind off of his sad expression.
"Yeah maybe I should." I thought I heard him mumble as he stood up and walked away, again I watched his ass as he walked away biting my lip.
A month later it was my birthday, I really hated birthdays. Not getting older or anything but I didn't really like the whole fuss that came with it, the singing, the cake everyone knowing. Ugh, today was gonna be a bad day. I rolled over about to get out of the bed but Lisa wrapped her arms tighter round me pulling me back to her. "Happy Birthday Jennie Bear." she chirped in my ear, I smiled and she reached over the side of the bed and came out with a small rectangular present.
She had a huge grin so I lent over and kissed her on the cheek, "Thank you Lisa but you shouldn't have bought me anything." I said taking the present.
She rolled her eyes. "I know, I know, you don't like birthdays, but I like buying for your birthday so suck it up," she said laughing. I laughed too and tore off the wrapping paper to reveal a rectangular red velvet jewellery box.
I looked at Lisa, "Tell me you didn't spend a lot of money," I said pleadingly,
"I didn't spend a lot of money Jennie just open it," she said sighing.
I took a deep breath and opened the box, inside was a beautiful gold bracelet it had a small gold heart that hung at the clasp with what looked like a little diamond set in it. I couldn't talk, it was so beautiful it was perfect. I felt my eyes filling with tears, "Oh Shit! You don't like it? I can change it. Don't cry Jennie bear." she said pulling me to her and rubbing my back.
I pulled back and looked at her, "Of course I like it. I love it! Thank you Lisa its beautiful, it's just so perfect, so me, thank you." I said kissing her on the cheek, she chuckled and rubbed the back of her neck.
"I thought you'd like it, I saw it and I just had to get it for you, I actually bought it about three months ago, I wanted to give it to you then," she said blushing a little.
I smiled and pulled the bracelet out of the box holding it out to her, "Will you put it on for me?" I asked giving her a smile, she put the bracelet on me, her fingers lingering around my wrists. I could feel heat coursing up my arm as my breathing sped up I looked at her, she had her jaw clenched tight in concentration. I held my breath and looked away from her beautiful face to try and stop my hormones from going crazy. Why the hell can't I stop lusting after my best friend?
She clipped it on and then moved away from me quickly as if I burnt her. "I'm gonna go make you some breakfast ok?" She said getting out of the bed not looking at me.
"Why don't we go out for breakfast? I'm in the mood for a chocolate doughnut." I said smiling as she turned her nose up in disgust,
"Jam doughnut?" She said looking at me with a smile. This was an old argument no one ever won, so I just laughed, "And seen as it's your birthday I'm buying." she said as I got up to shower.
I walked out of the school to see a huge group of girls all standing around gossiping near the door.
"I can't believe it! He is sooooo hot!"
"I think I've died and gone to heaven."
"Mmm he is yummy." They were all staring in the same direction.
I assumed Lisa's friends was standing there but instead I saw GD, he was leaning against his car. He was wearing a white t-shirt, black leather jacket, low slung jeans and his black boots again, and he looked so hot my mouth started to water. I shook my head and walked out to go find Lisa, she was at a long football practice tonight so I had over an hour to wait for her.
As I crossed the car park headed towards the field GD shouted me. "Hey Jailbait." he said jogging to catch up with me.
I turned and smiled "Hey, what are you doing here?" I asked politely whist trying to discretely check him out again, my God he is hot! I could see the planes of his chest and abs through his t-shirt, my mouth was watering again.
"I wanted to wish you happy birthday." He said simply smiling his sexy smile.
"You what? How did you know it was my birthday? We've only met twice." I said confused and looking around quickly to make sure no one heard that it was my birthday today, no one was close enough so I breathed a sigh of relief.
"You told me last time I saw you." he said reaching into his pocket and pulling out a small material bag.
"You remembered that? From a month ago?" I asked my mouth hanging open in shock.
He chuckled, "I can remember things you know, I'm not just a pretty face." he said with a wink. Oh God he's so freakin cocky.
"And who said you had a pretty face?" I asked narrowing my eyes trying to hide my smile, he laughed again.
"Here I got you this," he said holding out the little bag. I gasped again,
"You got me a present?" I asked stepping closer to him to take it, he nodded and watched me as I opened the string and tipped it into my hand. A little red metal rose fell out onto my hand, It was really pretty, it had a string on one end I turned it over to look at the back, it was so cute.
"It's a charm for your cell, I know it's a bit lame but girls like that kind of thing right? And I knew you didn't have one so," he said trailing off looking uncomfortable. I smiled God he is so sweet.
"It's great, thank you GD." I said giving him a grateful smile.
"Here hand me your phone," he said holding out his hand, I gave it to him and he took the little charm, threading the string through and looping it and handing my phone back to me.
It looked really cute on my red phone, "Maybe now when you use your phone it'll remind you of me and maybe you'll call me," he said tipping his head to the side. I smiled again and stepped closer to give him a hug, I wrapped my arms around him a little awkwardly and he did the same.
"Thanks." I whispered and felt him shudder against me.
"Careful there Jailbait," he joked pulling away a bit sheepishly. I laughed, "So what are you doing for your birthday tonight?" he asked looking at his feet,
"Not much really Lisa's coming over and I think my Mom and stepdad will probably bring out a cake or something." I said scrunching my nose up in disgust.
"You don't want Lisa coming over or you don't like cake?" he asked chuckling.
"Oh come on who doesn't like cake?" I asked smiling.
"Oh so you don't want Lisa over." he said waggling his eyebrows.
I slapped him on his arm, "Shut up. I just don't like the whole birthday, cake, singing thing." I said scrunching my nose up.
"Why not?" he asked looking genuinely curious, I sighed I really didn't want to talk about the whole dad leaving on my birthday thing so I just shrugged instead.
"Thanks for the charm GD that was really nice of you, but I should go." I said turning to walk to the field again. He grabbed my hand to stop me walking.
"You need a ride home?" he asked smiling.
"No thanks, Lisa's driving me, I just need to wait for her practice to finish." I said shrugging turning to go again.
"What you have to wait until four thirty?" he asked with wide eyes whilst looking at his watch.
"Actually five, they're going over some new plays or something for some big quarterfinal or something or other." I said putting my hands up in a I haven't got a clue gesture.
He laughed. "You really don't know anything about football, do you?" he said grabbing my hand and pulling me towards his car. What the hell is he doing now? Is this boy crazy?
"What are you doing GD? I said I don't need a ride home." I said confused as he opened his passenger door for me.
"Ok that's fine, but I can take you out for an hour and a half then drop you back at school before practice finishes." he said with a smirk as he took my bag out of my hand and threw it on the backseat. Ok I really shouldn't go with him, I hardly know him and he has a bad reputation. But he honestly seems so sweet.
He could obviously sense my indecision, "I promise I won't try anything on you jailbait. Scouts honour, I just want to buy you a milkshake for your birthday." He said pointing into the car and smiling a dazzling smile. I took a deep breath and got into the car, he shut the door with a chuckle. He obviously liked getting his own way.
He drove us in silence, his car was nice, I have no idea about cars so I didn't know what sort it was but it was clean and smelled like leather and his aftershave. I actually felt quite relaxed considering that I was alone in a car with an older guy I knew hardly anything about and no one knew where I was. Oh crap this is a really bad idea, where the hell is he taking me? Just then he pulled into this little diner and stopped the car.
We got out and he held the door to the diner open for me, "Wow very gentlemanly." I said with a smile.
"I can be a gentleman when I want to be, I just don't want to be that often." He said with a cheeky grin, I rolled my eyes at him and sat in one of the booths.
He sat opposite me as the waitress came over and gave him a very seductive smile, "Well hello, what can I do for you?" she asked looking at him.
"I'll have a chocolate shake with extra ice-cream and, jailbait?" he said looking at me and raising his eyebrows.
The waitress dragged her eyes away from GD to look me over and give me a sneer, "I'll have a strawberry shake please." I said shrugging, jeez I felt uncomfortable the woman looked like she wanted to stab me or something.
"Put extra ice-cream in hers too would you?" He said turning back to me, "Trust me on this one." he said with a wink laughing. The woman smiled at him again but he was too busy reaching across the table to notice.
He took my hand and I just sat there in shock, I mean jeez this guy is too old for me, and he's incredibly hot. What the hell is he holding my hand for? I pulled my hand back putting it in my lap, he looked a little hurt but smiled to cover it up. "So what did you get for your birthday?" he asked with a grin.
"Well, aside from a new charm for my cell, my Mom and Brian got me a new ipad, and Lisa got me this bracelet." I said jiggling my wrist to make it shine when I caught the sun. He reached out and took hold of my wrist gently bringing it to him so he could look at it.
"It's pretty." He said taking hold of my hand again.
I tried to pull away again but he frowned slightly and gripped my hand a little tighter "Please?" He said quietly, I looked into his eyes and could feel myself being drawn in. I stopped struggling and let him hold my hand. It actually felt nice, different from when Lisa held my hand, when Lisa and I held hands it was just natural, normal like breathing but this felt nice in a different way, his hand was warm and slightly rough to the touch.
The waitress came over and placed our drinks down giving me another dirty look as she walked away. I took a big swig of my milkshake and oh my God it was good!
"Wow I think that's the best milkshake I've ever had." I said taking another mouthful.
He nodded "Yeah I thought you'd like it," he said with a wink.
"So how old are you exactly GD?" I asked grabbing a spoon so I could eat the ice-cream that was floating at the top of my milkshake.
"I turned twenty-one two months ago," he said frowning looking a little upset about something.
"So what's with the face? You don't like being twenty-one?" I asked giggling,
"I don't mind the age, it's just that I waited a long time to find someone that I liked and when I finally do she's so much friggin younger than me it's not even legal." he said huffing and stabbing his straw into his milkshake forcefully. I smiled but quickly pushed it away, he liked me? Oh my God! But there's nothing we can do about it, if I had sex with him he could be charged with statutory rape due to my age.
"Oh you like someone? Do I know her?" I asked with a smirk.
"It's not a joke Jennie!" he snapped shaking his head. Oops ok temper. "Sorry I didn't mean to snap at you like that, it's just so frustrating." He said squeezing my hand slightly.
It was quiet for a minute I didn't know what to say so we both just stared at the table. "So tell me some more about you," he said looking up with an easy smile.
"What do you want to know?" I said sipping my milkshake again grateful for the conversation, I hated uneasy silences.
"Hmm what kind of music do you like? What do you like to do in your spare time? What's your favourite colour? That kind of thing." he said waving his free hand around.
"Well I like RB stuff mostly, Anything by 'Ne-yo' is my favourite, I like to dance and go to the movies and I know it sounds boring but I love to read and my favourite colour is pink," I said smiling. "What about you? Are you in college or something or do you work?" I asked,
"At the moment I'm working at Old Joes over on east street, it's a scrap yard but I don't really want to be doing that so I'm always looking for something else." He said with a shrug.
We chatted for about an hour and then he paid for our drinks, taking my hand to help me out of the booth, which gained me another glare from the waitress. She stepped in front of him and put her hand on his chest, "Can I get your number?" she asked sexily, trailing her finger down his abs.
He chuckled and raised our intertwined hands, "Seriously? You think you have a chance when I'm holding her hand?" he asked shaking his head and pulling me to the exit.
I was stunned, I almost choked on my laughter, quickly putting my hand over my mouth and turning it into a cough, but it was too late she gave me a death glare and stormed off. He didn't seem phased in the slightest just pulled me out the door and opened the passenger side for me. "Jeez did you have to be so rude? I thought she was gonna stab me or something" I said laughing and shaking my head.
He chuckled, "I wasn't rude. What the hell was I supposed to say? You would rather I gave her my number to be polite?" he asked smiling.
"No, but you could have just said no thanks or something, you didn't need to bring me into it." I said slapping him playfully on the arm.
We arrived at school with five minutes to spare, he pulled into the now almost empty car park. "So you think I could get your number?" he asked nervously, he looked so sweet and vulnerable, not like what I had been told about him at all. He hadn't even tried to kiss me and he turned the waitress down and didn't even pay any attention to her.
"Um.. GD, what's the point? This can't go anywhere." I said with a shrug. He sighed.
"Please can I have your number? Lets just see, please, a date that's all, I really like you," he said scratching absentmindedly at his jaw. Ok what harm could it do? A date that's all, it doesn't mean I have to sleep with him, but oh jeez Lisa will go crazy. Why the hell am I thinking about Lisa?
"Jailbait?" he said snapping me out of my mental debate.
"Um, yeah ok, I guess." I said taking the phone that he was now holing out to me and punching in my number. He had a huge smile showing all of his perfect teeth and I couldn't help but smile back. "I better go, Lisa will be out soon." I said climbing out of the car.
"Ok, well I'll call you," he said as I shut the door. It had turned cold so I pulled my jacket tighter around me as I walked to the field. Suddenly my phone started ringing, I looked at the screen, it said GD, I frowned, how the hell did I get his number? Oh yeah he stored it in my phone that first night at the game!
"Hello?" I answered,
"Just checking you gave me the right number." He said and laughed before hanging up, I laughed too as I snapped the phone shut, I looked at the little rose charm and smiled as I put it back in my pocket.
"Hey Jennie bear." Lisa called as I reached the field, she jogged over to me and went to throw an arm around my shoulder but I quickly jumped away.
"No way, look at the state of you." I said horrified looking at her, she was covered in mud and sweat and grass. She looked down at herself and laughed then her head snapped up to look at me with an evil glint in her eye, oh shit! I turned and ran, I could hear her chasing behind me laughing. She grabbed me from behind and rubbed her face in my hair, "Ew! Lisa!" I whined giggling, she just laughed and threw her arm over my shoulder leading us off of the field.
"Sorry you had to wait for me, lucky you waited inside though it's getting cold out here," she said pulling me closer to her side. I opened my mouth to tell her I'd been with GD but nothing came out, oh just man up and tell her Jennie! I took a deep breath, "So what movie you wanna watch tonight?" She asked just as I was about to speak.
"Um, I don't mind, how about Teen Wolf?" I said and she groaned.
"Jeez the shifter again? Haven't you seen enough of him already?" She whined making me laugh.
"No way, you can never get enough Tyler Posey in your life." I said with a smile as I pushed her towards the locker rooms to shower.
Just as I thought they would, my Mom and Brian pulled out a cake after dinner and they sang happy birthday to me. I looked over at Lisa she wasn't singing, she knew I hated it. She never sang happy birthday to me, but she sat there with a huge smirk on her face while I grimaced and wriggled uncomfortable. They even made me blow out the candles like a five year old.
We watched Teen Wolf again and Lisa bless her didn't complain once. Just as we settled into bed to go to sleep my phone beeped, I looked at the screen 1 new message from GD. I pressed read, 'Hey just wanted to say goodnight, maybe I could take you for a crappy dinner and a crappy movie tomorrow?' I laughed.
"What's so funny?" Lisa asked putting her arms behind her head,
"Nothing, just Rosé that's all." I answered unsure why I was lying to her. I snapped my phone shut and laid next to her as usual.
