Chapter 3
Arrivals
After another hour on the run, Ruby and Jed came to a hill. This hill was overlooking a valley containing a large lake and a small town.
"That there's Serene Village! Home sweet home!" Jed exclaimed.
Ruby looked around happily and said, "it looks like a cool place."
Jed nodded and said, "it's a quiet, peaceful place, welp, see ya around, missy."
"But WAIT!" Ruby called as Jed had already walked a few feet down the path.
The Nuzleaf turned around to see the young fire type's eyes filled with desperation.
"But then again, you said you ain't got no memories….and that means you got nowhere to go," Jed realized; he was so caught up in the running from the Beheeyem that he forgot Ruby's condition.
Ruby's silver eyes showed nothing but nervousness and fear as she said, "I have nowhere to go..what should I do?"
Jed sighed and said, "I...I can't abide by leaving a youngen alone out here; I've got a spare room at my place; you can live with me, at least until we find where you are from."
Ruby bursted into rose petals as she rushed forward and tackled Jed, saying, "thank you so much!"
Jed gave a confused look and said, "How in the world did you do that? You dissolved into flowers and tackled me!"
Ruby noticed his surprise and jumped off him, saying, "sorry, just instinct, I guess! can fire types normally do that?"
Jed brushed himself off and answered, "no, heck, I don't think any grass types can do that either...just be careful. Speaking of normal pokemon, you look to be around schooling age, so let's get settled in today, and then I get ya enrolled. Since ya got no memories, learning things at school is important so you'll fit in."
Ruby nodded and followed Jed as they walked down the path. The young fire type didn't know what awaited her, but she would face it head-on!
As Blake followed Carver to the guild, she immediately froze at the sight of the grate in front of the door.
Carver noticed her timidness and said, "it's not dangerous; there's a pokemon under there that identifies footprints. Considering he won't know yours, just follow me."
Blake nodded but said nothing.
"Not much of a talker, huh? You and Ned would get along well," Carver joked before standing on the grate.
"Pokemon detected; the footprint is Carver's!" the sentry said.
Carver looked down the hole and said, "Viel, I got a newcomer who you won't recognize, disregard her."
"Roger," the sentry, identified as Viel, said.
Blake followed Carver inside the Wigglytuff shaped building and down a ladder. They skipped the first floor and came to the newest floor, the nexus room.
Blake went wide-eyed as she saw the massive holographic orb containing pictures of locations and pokemon from all over the continent.
"Quite a sight, eh? Requests and missions from all over the continent come through here. Then we decide which ones go on the bulletin boards upstairs, locals can fill out paper forms, but otherwise, this is the best method," Carver explained.
Blake then noticed the pokemon running the Nexus control panel; it was a dark blue and teal, bipedal Pokémon resembling a poison dart frog. Its head bore a gently upward curling spike which seemed to be a part of the skull. Its eyes were bright yellow, sinister, and intimidating, with a small snake-like pupil. Its mouth gave the appearance of a mouthguard, with its red upper lip curling upward at the ends in a very intimidating manner. Underneath its chin was a bulbous red vocal sac. It had three fingers and one large red claw on the back of each hand. Its legs were muscular and seemed to be adapted for speedy attacks and had three toes on its feet, with a red middle toe on each foot and a sharp spike that jutted out of its heels.
"Hey Ned, this is Blake. Could you put out a notice on the Nexus for her? She has some amnesia, and we need to see if anyone knows her." Carver requested.
The Toxicroak nodded and pressed a few buttons on his console, which looked like it was made entirely of blue crystals.
There was a flash of light, then an image of Blake appeared.
"Any info?" Ned questioned in a low gravelly voice.
Blake shook her head; the only thing she knew about herself was something she planned to keep close to her chest indefinitely.
The Toxicroak nodded and continued typing; Carver smiled and said, "let's have Bell give you a once over."
Ned stared at Blake for a moment before the sac on his throat bulged, then he looked away.
Blake shivered and walked away, Carver following close behind as he said, "don't worry, Ned has a habit of that. He's a Pokemon of few words, just likes to watch everything rather than speak, so don't fret about his opinions on ya."
The Meowstic nodded and followed Carver down the ladder again, then the two went to the left, passing a few pokemon and through a mess hall before arriving in an infirmary.
A small floating pokemon was hovering over a few empty beds; she saw Blake and smiled, saying, "who's your new friend Carver?"
Carver chuckled and replied, "this here is Blake; Oleanna found her offshore with amnesia, wondering if you could sense anything in her head to help that? I'll go put your things in your room."
As the Bibarel took her black cleaver and walked out, Belle smiled and said, "Just relax, let's see what's in there," Belle answered before the orb on her head glowed.
Blake's yellow eyes filled with nervousness as the Chimecho scanned her brain; her secret was surely out.
After a minute or two of staring, Belle sighed and said, "nope, nothing I can do."
"Why?" Blake questioned.
Belle shook her body back and forth, saying, "your memories are there; you are just locked out of them. It will probably take a reminder of the past or something traumatic to bring it out, so there's nothing I can do but tell you to be patient. Some kind of energy is interfering with your brain, causing amnesia; there's nothing physical about it."
"Oh, ok.." Blake conceded in a defeated voice.
Belle noticed her sadness and said, "don't worry; you can stay here for now."
Blake nodded and said "thanks" before leaving.
A few minutes later, Carver entered and said, "raw deal, I put her up in Team Outriders room."
"Good, but I think there's more to her than meets the eye.." Belle stated vaguely.
Carver gave a perplexed look and asked, "what makes you say that?
"There's a type of energy within her body I've never seen before, and her brain waves are very abnormal, especially for a psychic type. In fact, I've only met one pokemon with brainwaves like that," Belle explained.
"Who?" Carver pressed.
"Alex...and her arrival here is awfully similar," Belle mentioned.
Carver looked around quickly before whispering, "you don't think she's a...ya know?"
Belle gave a cautious look and said, "I wouldn't say I'm 100 percent sure, but the coincidences line up so far; let's keep an eye on her for now, then the next time Alex comes by, make sure he talks to me…."
Author's Note- Getting more of the prologue type stuff out of the way, then some action and fun moments can happen!
1. Everyone in the Wigglytuff Guild knows about Alex and a certain other pokemon being former humans. The existence of former humans is still a secret to all but them, the other guildmasters, and a select few members of those other guilds.
2. Since everywhere has a guild, the introduction of the Pokemon Nexus worldwide makes sense.
3. As shown in this chapter and the last, Blake and Ruby still have their semblances and have their aura shields; they just don't know how to use either right now. Since RWBY can't make up its mind on the subject, I am stating the rules of aura in this and RWBY Distortion now. I have decided aura isn't up unless you activate it; it subconsciously activates once a fight starts, but you need to activate it by either getting a combat mindset or activating it manually.
4. Ruby and Blake have these powers even after transforming since it's liked to the soul rather than a body.
