Dreams and Deceit
Chapter 3
The next couple of days Kagome's physical injuries were almost healed, except her head continued to pain her and she kept having nightmares. Each time she awoke from her nightmares, her husband was there comforting her.
The kindness of this man made her start warming up to him. He brought her fresh cut flowers every day and had their meals together. They talked about poetry. All the things she liked.
One day, Kagome was sitting in the garden looking at the birds flying around building nests in a nearby tree. Kagewaki came walking towards her deep in thought. He sat next to her on the bench "Kagome, I would like for us to finally consummate our marriage. It is time we move forward and build our lives together"
Taken back by his words, she knew the subject would come up "if you think it is time, then we should."
He smiled and took her hand into his "I promise you won't regret this." placing a kiss on her hand and left.
Kagome was confused with his last words but didn't think much of it when Kagura came into the garden with Kanna following behind.
"How are you feeling sister?" as both females sat on each side of her. The both resembled their brother with pale skin, wavy black hair and brown eyes with red specs. They were constantly around her when he wasn't, rarely was she left alone except when he planted thoughts in her mind to manifest.
"Much better but...Kagewaki-sama wants us to finally consummate but I am nervous because I still don't remember anything." looking at the birds.
Feeling her indecisiveness "how about you ask us anything and we would try to help you." Kagura offered. "Right Kanna?"
Kanna nodded her head in agreement.
"I don't know. I do not wish to get him mad for discussing such things without him." Kagome worried.
"It is fine Kagome. Let us go have tea while we talk. Besides it's been a long time since we had time for ourselves." as Kagura looked sad.
"Yes please big sister. I've missed having tea together." Kanna pleaded.
Looking at both females with pleading sadness for the closeness they claimed that they all once shared "alright let's do that but Kanna can you please tell him that we wish to spend time together and will be having this talk. I don't want him to be angry."
"It's settled! Let's go!" as Kagura pulled Kagome to her feet and they linked arms going into the mansion.
The evil spider hanyou heard everything and telepathically told Kanna "remember do as I say and give her the tea to drink."
"Yes master" as she finally followed the women.
The evil hanyou laughed mechanically 'it's all coming together. Inuyasha should be here by the time I've bedded Kagome with the clues I've left for him. He will be disgusted with the no longer pure miko."
"It looks like we are getting closer to finding Kagome." as Kirara found a piece of her torn school uniform and took it to Sango.
"Damn it! That bastard will pay with his life! " Inuyasha stood angry above in the tree looking to see which direction to follow.
'He stole Kikyo from me and now he's trying to do it with Kagome!'
"Miroku, are we any closer to finding her?" as the sad kitsune perched on the monk's shoulder.
Patting his head "I do hope so, Shippo." looking towards the north as he had a feeling she was in that direction.
Kagome, Kagura and Kanna sat in the sitting room with tea and biscuits as they chatted. Kagura told Kagome of how they were both best friends and did everything together, even taking baths in the hot spring together. Kanna sat silently listening to the conversation knowing her master was using her as a sort of radio to listen in.
"Can you tell me about Kagewaki-sama? What does he like to eat and do?"
"He's not a picky eater but he does love it when you make ramen for him. Besides doing his damiyo duties, he loves to do swordsmanship. You know, he is the best in his lands and beyond with his fighting skills. Every girl swoons over him because he's smart, strong and handsome."
Feeling a bit jealous "I'm sure he is. I notice the looks from the maids whenever he comes around. I mean he is quite handsome." as she blushed.
"Don't tell me you are jealous?!" Kagura giggled.
'Umm...n-n-no. I'm not!" drinking her tea.
"You do know he has always been in love with you from the time he met you. Just look at how he brings you flowers every day. Men don't do that especially with duties and titles such as his. You're quite special to him...even when he had to fight for you."
"What do you mean fight for me?" curiosity got her attention.
Kanna and Kagura shared concerned looks.
"I don't know if I should tell you this but might as well hear it from me instead of those busybody maids." sounding annoyed and taking a drink of her tea.
"Before your father died, he hired a bodyguard to guard you when he was away on business with my father and my brother. His name was Inuyasha. You and he became friends but he had a strange obsession with you. The day our fathers announced your betrothal to my brother, Inuyasha went crazy. We found out he was a hanyou dog demon. He kidnapped you and tried to mate you but my brother found you in time. Inuyasha got away pretty much damaged but he lived. Since then, you and Kagewaki became closer and you in turn fell in love with him. Inuyasha has tried to take you away but his attempts failed. We didn't see or hear about him in a long time so we assumed he gave up or died. On the day of your wedding, he showed up as a transformed dog demon and took you away. He said something about you being the reincarnation and looked exactly like his dead lover, a miko, who left him for a damiyou that resembles Kagewaki. He claimed that he will never give up coming for you. My brother has sent scouts searching for him but each time they get close, he disappears."
Sitting stunned in silence "that is so sad. I feel bad for Inuyasha but Kagewaki is my husband and from what you've told me, we love each other...right?"
Just then Kagome felt a sudden pain in her head and fell over curled up. Kagewaki came in on cue and picked her gently. He took her to her room and placed her on the bed. Her pain subsided and he handed her a tea cup "drink some of this. It will help with the pain. As he got up to leave, Kagome held on to his hand and they made eye contact "can you stay with me...please"
He watched her with softness in his dark eyes "yes I will stay with you...always."
Kagome blushed red and scooted over making space in her bed for him to lay next to her. She laid in his arms until she drifted fast asleep. Leaving her in the bed, he quietly closed the door behind him
"Kagura, Kanna time for the next phase of my plan."
Kagome fell into a deep slumber. She dreamt of images that looked like still pictures flashing thru her mind. It started as a happy little girl in a field of flowers. Her faceless father patting her head with smiles. Then as a young teen with Kagura in the hot springs laughing. Pushing Kanna happily on a swing. Bringing Kagewaki a bowl of hot ramen to his study with papers and scrolls scattered. Him eating it happily with her sitting next to him. They smiled at each other while holding hands in front of the fireplace. It switched to her sitting under a tree with a book and a man dressed in red watching protectively over her on top of the tree. He had white hair and golden eyes. He looked rough but felt warm and had the sweetest smile. That same man placed a flower in her hair as they looked at the setting sun and then shared a kiss. Her first kiss! Suddenly it all changed again. Kagewaki is unconscious and Kagome is taken away to a cave by a dog demon over his shoulder. Inuyasha's eyes glowed red and fangs elongated coming towards her as she screamed. A sword fight between Kagewaki and Inuyasha broke out. Inuyasha was injured and bloody as he watched her with sadness before he fled leaving her behind.
Awakened in a sweat filled terror, Kagome felt she remembered everything. She cried and cried until Kagewaki came to her room and took her into his arms.
"I am so sorry! I didn't mean for you to go thru all that sacrifice and trouble for me!"
"Don't cry. It is not your fault. That hanyou tricked you but I will always protect you because I love you. I always have." wiping away her tears.
They looked at each other and shared their first kiss. "I love you very much Kagewaki." as they hugged.
The evil hanyou smirked 'my plan is falling into place.'
Inuyasha and his pack sat around a fire.
"Why can't we find her! We are going in circles" Inuyasha growled.
"It's been 3 months since he kidnapped her. Maybe we should ask Kouga for help." Sango suggested with Kirara fast asleep in her arms.
"For right now, it should be kept only between us. I think it's best." Miroku thought out loud.
"But we haven't gotten any closer to finding Kagome. We should ask for help." Sniffled Shippo.
Just then soul collectors flew above the pack's camp.
Inuyasha jumped to his feet "I'll go talk to Kikyo. She might know where Naraku is hiding her."
"No! Don't do that! What if it's a trap!" Sango shouted.
"Yeah! Think about it!" Shippo added.
"Maybe if you ask Kikyo to come here so we can all speak with her, then we can all be reassured of her intentions." Miroku suggested.
"Hell no! She won't come here." as the stubborn hanyou started walking away.
"That's why you shouldn't go to her Inuyasha." Sango spoke lowly. "She won't be willing to help Kagome."
"Meh! I'm going! Y'all can't stop me!" as he took off running.
Sango and Shippo began to cry.
"He doesn't understand that Kikyo will betray him. She wants Kagome gone so she can take him to hell."
Miroku sat next to the crying pair "let's give it a try. If it doesn't work out, then we will know for sure her true intentions." hugging them.
"I hope so." Shippo wiping away his tears.
Kikyo sat below the shaded oak tree with her eyes half closed. She patiently waits for the soul collectors to bring the souls needed to once again move about.
Hearing rustling coming towards her "I knew you would come." without moving she said.
Running his clawed fingers thru his hair "hey Kikyo. Are you alright? You look weak?"
"I just need to be replenished with souls. Come sit by me." She patted the ground.
He hesitantly moved over and sat close by.
"What ails you, Inuyasha?" As she covered his hand with hers.
"Well...Kagome is missing. We believe Naraku kidnapped her. We searched all over and couldn't find her. Do you have any idea where she could be?"
"What will I get in return for sharing information to locate my reincarnation?" she seethed.
"What do you want Kikyo? I'm not sure I can give you what you want but please help us. Everyone misses her."
Arching an eyebrow "even you?"
"Ummm yeah even me. She's just my friend and we made the promise to find the jewel shards."
"I can only tell you that Naraku has an empty mansion in the northeast. Remember, he is a master of mind illusions and dark magic. Thread carefully."
"Thank you Kikyo! as he kissed her hand and took off to his friends.
'Inuyasha you think I do not know your real feelings for my reincarnation. Once I am fully replenished, I will eliminate her and you will come back to me.'
