Chapter three
History of Hogwarts
Harry has finished the renovation and even already finished the common rooms and dorm room for the other founders as he thought they might be best and is preparing a secret area to hide in at some point while the rest of the castle is a school when his elf Toffy shows up. Toffy being a great great great grandchild of Dilly. "Salazar sir?"
Harry smiles. He never managed to get rid of the sir but not one of his elves still address him with master or Lord. "What can I do for you Toffy?"
"Toffy is bringing a message from old Healer Severus' son Shane, Salazar sir." Toffy replies.
"Why not from Severus?" Harry asks fearing that he might be getting too old. It's the third one with that name since the one that had taught Harry. His son Shane already had five children and if Harry remembers correctly the oldest is married by now. He tries not to remember and never looks at the ever growing family tree anymore.
"Potions Master Severus was there and told Toffy to bring the message but insists he's getting too old. Said Toffy should listen to innkeeper Shane now." Toffy replies.
"Is there still a healer there?" Harry asks worriedly, he has no idea what professions the others choose but appart from Shane they all had moved away and the only other boy didn't even have magic. Their mother didn't either, this Severus had married a non magical woman, not that Harry would care about it, but not having a new healer could become a problem.
"Just master Severus, Salazar sir." Toffy says "But a healer is visiting at the moment and might stay, it's part of Toffy's message for Salazar sir from innkeeper Shane."
"What is the message?" Harry asks thinking how he can ensure the villagers will stay safe and healthy now. But maybe the new healer just wants to find out if the Snape family is the only one he corresponds because it always was the closest healer to his home. Because if that were the case the visiting one could try get thr correspondence now and get cheep and still high quality potions that way if that one stays there and becomes the new healer at Hogsmead. Harry still prefers the correnspond with the Snape family but not really knowing them personally anymore a switch to a different healer might ensure they at least still have proper health care and Harry has his elves to keep an eye on them like he does with all of those that moved away allready. They are too wide spread to know about all from talking to one member of the family alone.
The message is different from what he had presumed though "Innkeeper Shane has three guests at the Inn. They wish to speak to Salazar sir about castle. They be Defence and warding Master Godric Gryffindor who is also expert in spell creation, Rune and Arythmency Mistress Rowena Ravenclaw who is also expert at Transfiguration, and Herbology and healing Mistress Helga Hufflepuff who also is very good at household spells. They wish to request usage of castle for school and help of Potions Master Lord Salazar Slytherin sir to teach potions and more if Toffy's master knows more."
Harry groans "Why did you call me by such a long monstrosity? It took me ages to get rid of it and now you torture me with it again?"
"Defence and warding Master Godric Gryffindor called Salazar sir the current Potions master Lord Salazar Slytherin." Harry groans they probably think he is the son of the son of another or whatever many generations lived mostly secluded here. Maybe they even presume that there also always was a girl born and lots of inbreeding since how else would a guy as secluded as he lived be able to father a child. Or multiple ones considering how many generations they must presume to have the same name.
"Just those three?" Harry asks to make sure.
"Yes Salazar sir." Toffy replies.
"Ask them to come up tomorrow, please. I'll change the wards to let them in before that." Harry sighs wondering if he should tell them the truth. It might be needed if he lives with them and starts a school for who knows how long. "And thank you for bringing me their message."
"Yes Salazar sir. Toffy will tell them." The elf bows and goes.
"Huntress." Harry calls out towards the already bigger snake. She's twice the size by now. "We'll have visitors tomorrow. They should be safe, you don't have to stick around and can hunt any time but please try not to harm or attack them when you see them."
"I want to see them before I'll leave my speaker alone with them." Huntress states.
"Thank you for always taking such good care of me. I might ask you for venom than. Maybe letting them see me brew before they can see how young I look isn't a bad idea. Or I have to make myself look older?" Harry replies thoughtfully and holds out a hand and spends the next hour petting over her scales the way she likes most. For who knows how many years now has she been his only companion. Hermione certainly would be proud of how much Harry had learned in that time though. He even can apparate despite the fact that it isn't widely known or rather not at all by other wizards and witches of this time and Harry learned enough that he could claim several masteries not just potion. Though that shouldn't be a surprise, Harry has lived more than one lifetime at least. He's not even sure how many, not daring to count the years he's been alone and worrying how many more of those he'll face if he truly has to wait until he reaches his own time simply by waiting for it. Always forced to either stay alone or lose a countless amount of friends to time. He sighs guessing that whatever he chooses. It will happen as it must. After all, it seems he was supposed to impersonate Salazar Slytherin of all people.
The next day Harry is nervous and worried how they'll react to him. He still appears to be sixteen despite all the years he has seen since his sixteens birthday. Deciding that it might be best to prove himself and tell them the truth instead of starting with a lie, he starts to brew a complicated potion he had decided to test. It will need fresh Basilisk Venom and such should also provide him with a good introduction to Huntress as he had planed the day before. He just hopes it's the right decision.
Before he starts the rather quick but tricky potion he watches the gates to see them arrive. Once they are close he apparets to his laboratory and calls Toffy to ask her to lead his guests to him.
He has the base ready and is cutting and adding ingredients with one hand while the other stirs constantly in different directions or even pattern. "Welcome. You must be the people Toffy mentioned yesterday." The hood of his robe hides even his hair while the rest of the robes hide most of his figure. They can see his small stature and that he certainly isn't bulky. But they certainly don't see enough to guess his age. "My name is Salazar, excuse me for not looking at you or such but I'm in the middle of an experimental potion designed to fix my far less than perfect eyesight."
"How wonderful." A female voice says "If it works you must tell me with which problems in the area of eyesight problems it will work. I might know some more that could use it."
"Gladly but it has a few rare ingredients like unicorn hair and worst of all Basilisk Venom no older than an hour. The fresher the better." Harry explains.
"And you have that? I always wanted to try fighting a Basilisk but they are hard to find and breeding it without cause other than a challenge seemed a little silly. To get it that freshly you must have found one around or are you brave enough to breed one just to kill it for its venom?" Godric asks. "Because I'd certainly be willing to assist with that. As I said, I'd love the challenge."
"If you attempt to harm a Basilisk within these halls, I'm afraid I'll have to kick you out." Harry warns and places a wandless and silent but visible shield between himself and them. He holds out an empty phial with one hand and hisses "Huntress my dearest, would you mind giving me your venom now, five drops if you please."
The snake comes closer and lets five drops of her venom fall into the phial before she says "That should do."
"Thank you my dear." Harry replies and adds the venom to his potion while Huntress slithers up around him and eyes the newcomers.
"They smell scared. And they have their eyes closed." Huntress informs Harry.
"I'll let them know that you keep your inner lids close, which I'm sure you will, though do watch the male screamer, he wishes to fight a Basilisk and I'm not yet sure he won't try to harm you though I warned him that I'd be far less than amused and that he'd regret it. It's why I'm holding the shield up until I trust him not to try right now." Harry warns his friend before saying "No worries my friend Huntress will keep her inner lids closed as long as she won't feel threatened by any of you. She doesn't tent to kill humans unless they threaten her or those she sees as hers."
"And you belong to her?" A female asks, another than the last so Harry presumes it's Rowena. He only can focus on them half way though since he still has to constantly add ingredients and stir in the right way.
"I'm her speaker and my elves her fire maker. She likes it warm." Harry says warmly with obvious care. "She also likes to be cuddled by me very much. You'll probably see her get petted at all hours of the day. She's very demanding, but also kind enough to give me space while brewing and does not demand attention during it. She might still cuddle close but leaves my hands in peace."
"That potion looks very complicated." Helga points out. "You must be a gifted and experienced master to do all what I see with her around and while talking to us."
Harry grins glad that it worked and says "If you say so. I find it simple enough. It's calming really. But then again, I haven't had any troubles with potions in a long while."
"We'd be glad if you'd join us in creating a school for magical children." Godric says. They had agreed to let Helga estimate his abilities. As a healer she has basic training in simple healing potions. Some healers know more than others, some of those close to a potions master usually know far less. But from all of them she knows most of it and is also capable to make most of the basic healing potions. "We also might need a place to teach and from what we saw here so far we thought we might ask if you mind to house the students here too."
"Tell me more about the school." Harry requests still with his back to them and they stay by the door to ensure they don't cause trouble while he's clearly very busy brewing. Both hands still constantly moving and occasionally summoning or banishing ingredients from more distant places in the room and the leftovers back to where they came. Both only within a container of sorts like a glass jar to ensure his magic won't contaminate the ingreadients. It is making it obvious that wandering around isn't the best idea and keeps them from walking before him and seeing his face before he wants them to. During that he even hisses to ask Huntress for two more drops that he wants to ad in after the first have settled and the volatile reaction to other ingredients is prevented so he can add those last two.
Godric starts saying "We aren't sure how to best organise it so far. But between us four we have seven masteries now."
"Ten." Harry replies glad he had studied enough to claim more. He might not have any prove but in this time one proves it by showing what one can do and he certainly can do that. And he might not feel he has to be better in general but certainly doesn't want to be the only one with just one mastery. Especially not while still planning to tell them that he is a good bit more experienced than any of them no matter how old they might be or how young he looks.
"Ten? That means you have three more?"
"More than that but the others are covert by some of you." Harry replies cutting a few leaves into runes with one hand. A method he used a few times after learning those, to improve his potions. The result made him more famous on the entire island. Many healer now order from him by going to Hogsmead to order from the Snape family, only they could contact him directly which is why some of them might be travelling away. They probably sell his potions all over the place to earn more money.
"What are your masteries?" Godric asks.
"Those that you don't have are Transfiguration, Creature studies, spell crafting and of course potions." Harry sighs. He's almost done with the potion and the end is easier and almost boring.
"And the others?" Rowena asks having noticed the runes he used that actually are connected to hunting and supposed to give good aim among others. And it is also used in some magical glasses to help with eyesight if one can't see distances, which might match what this potion supposedly does.
Harry confirms that assumption starting with "Runes, Herbology, Defence and Warding. I also know many healing spells though never had a chance to try any."
"Explains the expert warding." Godric muses. "Mind attempting a duel against me? It's been a while since I had a challenge and I'd like to see if you might be one though your stature says otherwise."
"Underestimating an opponent by his appearance could be a big mistake." Harry lectures and finishes the potion. He takes a phial full and shivers from the taste before he removes the glasses saying "Wonderful, that should make duelling much easier. I see better than I used to see with glasses." He starts to clean his working space and getting worried now that he won't be able to hide his face much longer. "I suggest to start with eight classes in total each of us teaching two or each of us teaching everything we know to a group and switch given time to ensure they learn from all of us. We might also offer them to choose what they wish to learn and limit the amount of students for all subjects to have fewer groups and let them learn other things."
"I like the idea of two to three subjects each. Maybe we can divide some subjects between more of us to ensure that all students get more variety." Rowena suggests.
"I guess it ultimately depends on the number of students." Harry sighs and finally turns around and lowers his hood. All the visitors stare speechless seeing a sixteen year old before them. "I believe you wished to duel Master Gryffindor?"
Godric frowns "If you're sure you dare too. I promise not to hurt you too much."
"Considering I haven't duelled in years I'd thank you for it." Harry smiles. "Follow me to the best duelling area I can offer."
Harry leads them into the mostly empty great hall that by now has the ceiling he remembers from his own time. He leads Godric to the centre saying "I guess this room should suffice."
Godric nods and asks the females to make space. They both ask Godric to go easy on the young man.
Harry lets them but he and Godric barely counted to ten and turned before Harry easily got the wand from his tall and bulky red headed opponent and Godric is also bound rather tightly. Godric did manage one spell but it didn't get past Harry's shield. "Pity." Harry sighs appearing as board as he feels "I believe I warned you about underestimating an opponent based on appearance. Those can be very misleading."
Godric and the others stare while Harry waves an empty hand and Godric is free before Harry throws him his wand back.
"Now why don't you three explore the castle, don't try to enter the excessively warded area. There are a few more extreme traps for would be thieves and my house elves will hold you prisoner if you manage to steal something. And Master Gryffindor, duelling house elves actually is very good practise. I did it a few times in my youth and improved my duelling quickly. I stopped when I could defeat two at once but I think I'm getting rusty. You managed to cast a spell." He smiles at the females adding "And now excuse me, I wanted to see how my elves in the greenhouses are doing."
"I'd like to see them." Helga replies.
"You may look at them anytime and I could let you roam there freely and make changes since it is your speciality as well, as long as I get my ingredients that is." Harry agrees and leaves for now. Huntress with him the entire time. He goes to his plants to have a break. It's strange to talk to people after so many years alone with his snake and diminutive elves that have a tendency to stay away.
He searches for them later again and finds them in his library where he notices for the first time how many books are lying around because he never returned them or found a place for the new ones he had his elf buy, after having read all those that were there during all those years alone. He will probably have to sort some out too or start a second one in his most warded area. The one he plans to let disappear.
"Your family has an impressive collection." Rowena says noticing him first.
"You may read in them to your hearts contents." Harry quickly permits "I'd be grateful if you can suggest new additions. I've finished them all by now."
"Impossible. You are no older than seventeen." Godric disagrees.
"Physically, younger. But I'd like to remind you on the possibility of misleading appearances again. My life has been very complicated and I fear that by the time you are old and grey I shall look as I do today. I have for many years now." Harry sighs finally getting a good opening to explain some of his problems to them. "I'm still working on finding a way to fix that. You know the old Healer in the village?"
"The old Severus Snape?" Helga wonders.
"His father's father and I don't even know how many more generations it was but one of those I've seen as a baby. And that father's mother's father has instructed me in potions. When I came to this castle it was empty. The Salazar Slytherin selling potions for generations is me. From start to now." Harry explains.
"How is that possible?" Godric looks worried.
Harry just waves a hand and has a book floating towards Rowena. It opens on its way and after reading the page presented to her she gasps surprised before asking "How did you go back in time that far?"
"I have absolutely no idea!" Harry sighs yet again feeling board of life in general and talking to strangers he might get close to scares him. He knows they will die long before him anyway. "Neither do I know how to get back because waiting is already boring me to death and in my time you three and Salazar Slytherin, who apparently was impersonated by myself, are all history. I'm supposed to be a student in this castle in about one thousand years. Give or take a decade or two. Trust me, I did not plan this. I do think I should tell you because I don't know for sure if my information that Salazar Slytherin isn't real, an information which was given to me right before I was sent through time, is in fact correct. I just know that the advice to learn what I can, can't be a bad one. After all, this maniac of a dark wizard is trying to kill me since I'm born and I would appreciate living a few more years...well...not a few thousand years in a wrong time knowing everyone I befriend dies way before me, but you probably get what I mean."
"You still are a young man with the hormonal balance of one of seems." Helga grins, "Though your experience helps hide it most of the time."
Harry just shrugs. "Now what about the school. Have you already picked a name or shall I tell you how it's called in my time? I did already fix it how I remember it though I don't know all the common and dorm rooms."
"Probably just the Sytherin ones, I guess." Godric grins.
"Gryffindor ones actually. I did sneak into the Slytherin common room once though." Harry smiles at him. "In my time, I'm known for recklessly rushing in to save the day and survive mostly by dumb luck. Though I could have gone either way."
"What will you do when people wonder why you don't age?" Rowena asks.
"I thought I mostly hide my face." Harry shrugs "Maybe spell a long beard to my face to help the disguise. That should buy me some years before it gets noticed. And in the end, my school's history gives me an excuse I can use to leave. Though I'm not happy with it."
"What excuse?" Helga wants to know.
Harry sighs, feeling like it's all he does all day anyway "The history has us students in my time believe that three of the four founders of our great school were great friends and wonderful people. One was pretty much an idiot thinking that magical children from non magical families shouldn't be allowed into this school. And that the fight about it turned so bad that he, or apparently I left. It's the opposite of my opinion though. I'm not sure I like pretending I'm some stuck up pure blood fanatic. Might help to get pure blood fanatics to send their children if they are mostly close to me and my potions skills should be well known. There were a few requests from parents to pay for their children learning under me. So far I refused not willing to get too close to people that are actually affected by the time I'm in."
"You are a Lord if I can believe what's told down in the village though." Godric points out. "How did that work and how did you get this castle?"
"The previous owner, a Lord Selvin Slytherin died childless despite the fact that apparently all men within miles had to lock up their wives and daughters to keep him from hunting their skirts. He liked to travel almost as much as attempting to procreate." Harry explains "He was a parselmouth and I resemble him by coincidence. People just assumed I might be an illicit son and his will said the first parselmouth to pass the wards inherits the castle and all that comes with it including his title and name. The elves called me Lord Slytherin right away. It worked that I previously had told only a fraction about my true upbringing which include not remembering either mother or father and my Aunt hating me and my parents and mostly told me lies about them. I left out that my father and mother were happily married and a respectable couple with a couple of friends until that dark wizard that wanted me dead killed them in an attempt to reach me when I was barely a year old. Nor did I say that my mother, who's entire family is non magical, was gifted in potions and charms or that she willingly gave her life in her attempt to protect me. If anyone with a real claim came by I'd have given the castle and all with it over but so far no one has shown and by now I'd say any parselmouth could come from elsewhere unless they can prove it. I'm working on an ancestry potion to see if I can find any prove in case someone stops by. Wouldn't want to lose the castle to another fraud. If it was a real descendent of the old Selvin Slytherin I'd happily give it too them but not to a fraud. That wouldn't be better than keeping it and while it's mine I can ensure it's used properly like helping the villagers as I have at first with cheep or free potions when needed and now with the school too."
They talk over Dinner and until deep into the night about many things. Harry's or rather Salazar's past, about the school and it's organization as well as the wards that needed to be adapted and already about ways their new friend might best hide for many years to come afterwards. The later being something Harry dreads, and as he soon finds out, Huntress is also slowly getting weary of the endless amounts of days that hold little of interest to her.
For a week the four of them plan. Most magic they still need is done by Harry since he's not only the most experienced wizard of them but also the by far most powerful one. Many studies have already proven that magic grows with age and while it was never proven if it grows due to time that passes or the change in an aging body, Rowena and Harry are now convinced it's neither. Simply because Harry's magic increased over time doesn't effect him so it can't be the reason. They assume it's due to continued practise of magic. The more magic was used the more it must grow which means the longer a wizard or witch lives the more opportunities to use it come which explains why elderlies are usually stronger. The amount of magic someone starts with still differs probably due to genetic and powerful magic raises it faster but Harry is with his sixteen years already very powerful and not only thanks to the knowledge he gathered.
Once everything is planed the other three set out to find the students named in a book Harry created to find them.
He also had taught them how to apparate to make travel faster and they divided the children they would approach depending on who knows a close place to apparate to.
A month later classes start. Harry is never seen without a magical beard or a raised hood and hides his Basilisk. The other founders believe it's to ensure the children don't need to fear Huntress but in truth, he simply is now sure that he's the one that will kill Huntress or rather that Huntress is the one he had killed when he was twelve. Not something he is looking forward too but to have things happen as they must he can't let everyone know he has a Basilisk.
He does play his role very well. Even the other founders don't know his true name and no one else knows that his name isn't Salazar. He teaches potions and creatures to all children and shares Transfiguration with Rowena. Godric and Helga teach spells in addition to their masteries. Helga the basic household spells and Godric more advanced spells. If they ever do come across one with an extreme talent that might not be challenged by their teaching alone Harry might have to tutor that one on the side but so far that hasn't happened. Godric does try hard to integrate his new friend, unwilling to let him feel left out.
During his time teaching Harry pretends to prefer purebloods by sighing more when others make a mistake or ask a stupid question but in general is as unapproachable as possible to all students equally. After just eight years he starts to talk to the others about leaving soon because being around so many and still keeping his distance is tiring and he has no wish to teach another generation.
They stage a few minor fights about prohibiting entrance to muggle born children. Those are mostly between Godric and Salazar where others hear but so far Godric was able to draw out Harry's disappearance saying the rift would need a strong cause or grow gradually over years to be believable.
However, after just half a year of occasional bickering an elf that Harry had keeping an eye on the Snape family shows up during dinner in the great hall saying. "Salazar sir, villagers are in uproar. Attacking the Inn!"
Harry gasps and apparates to the village followed by the other three. All the other three founders see is a burning Inn surrounded by an angry mob and then a strong magical blast before almost all life is just gone from the village. Harry walks to a weakened boy that the others know is Sebastian, a son of the innkeeper Shane Snape, they had talked to him before coming to the castle. "What happened?" Harry asks the badly burned boy.
"A still born baby was born." The boy breathes clearly having trouble while Helga casts diagnostic spells quickly sensing that all that keeps this boy from dying is the magic of her friend and that the powerful time traveller is already healing him but the internal wounds will need a bit before either of them can attempt to work on his skin. "They blamed magic for it. They blamed grandfather who had helped heal the mother when she had been gravely ill during the pregnancy. They wanted to kill us all."
"They won't get to you. No non magical person will ever set food onto these grounds again. I made sure of that. All wizards and witches that wish to live away from them will forever be safe here." Harry says calmly but sees this as reason enough to make a more sudden rift believable.
He is even proven right when he hears Godric's almost shocked question. "What did you do to the people? Did you?"
He doesn't flinch at Godric's accusing tone, but a small head shake from Harry is supposed to ensure that Godric knows that he hasn't killed anyone. He has just send them away scattered all over Britain. "I did what I had to do, to protect the true magical people at the castle from barbarians such as those here." Harry sees some curious students around. And he does consider these particular muggles barbarians. In his oppinon everyone that kills other is, and it has nothing to do with lack of magic. Voldemort is just as barbaric as those Muggle here.
Seeing that aome of the older must have left the grounds to apparate after having heard the elves warning, he doesn't explain more though. Everyone must have heard the elf's warning and all able and brave enough to walk past the wards to come and help will hear him now. Not surprisingly most came from Godric's house but the more curious one's from Harry's are there too. "I will ask you one last time Godric, are you with me on protecting those pure of blood or not?"
Godric looks around and flinches. He knows that this is a big enough thing. Looking back at the young man he has come to respect and whom he considers a close friend despite the others attempt to keep his distance. "You know I can't do what you're asking me to do but please don't go, stay at least a little longer to find another way. We are friends, aren't we?"
Harry almost cries knowing it's the truth. Godric is his friend, at least as much as Ron was. More than the other two founders.
How many times had Godric made a joke while planning at the beginning or when whining about papers he had to read and mark? How often had he dragged a reluctant man from his potions to force him to play chess or discuss possible ways to improve his broom?
For a moment, while looking directly into Godric's begging eyes, Harry feels only despair. Leaving Godric behind will hurt, but it will hurt just as much to watch him age and die. And for another thousand years he'll be once again as alone as he was before Godric came or this moment will repeat endlessly. Harry now truly understands why Nicolas Flamel didn't mind death so much. Harry truly starts to look forward to the end of this.
However, all that Harry can say is "It doesn't matter, things will happen as they must!" And with that he finishes healing Sebastian Snape and disappears into his hideout.
The rooms below the castle are close enough to the centre of the planet that the water and earth will be warm enough for Huntress and with an opening in a wall that allows Huntress to get to the chamber of secrets. He had hinted about it to a handful of the oldest students before they left the year before to ensure it would make it's way into the book 'History of Hogwarts'. No one but the other founders even know these rooms Harry now uses exist and even they can't get in or know where it is.
Once he is alone Harry takes a deep calming breath before he calls two elves to ensures that all elves know that those two know the owner and no one else is to be told in the next generation by anyone but them and to ensure that those two won't ever tell unless he orders them to and that not one of his elves will ever say who got them there or who owns them. They'll just call whoever runs the school master and speak fondly of Helga when asked about the beginning of the school to let incorrect assumptions be made by all those that underestimate them.
Harry himself sleeps in his new rooms alone every night and spends most days there reading books. Every other day he goes to a different place for a few hours to travel and learn more from what he sees. That way he eventually knows most places on earth and speaks at least almost all languages, magical or not. Most of the time he ensures to be either disguised, always using a different name, or he stays invisible with the help of a potion that works far better than even his own spells. The potion actually temporarily loosening his molecular structure enough to let him walk through objects and people can't accidentally run into him. It works a few hours or until he takes the antidote which he can only touch if it was in his hand before he used the invisibility potion.
Having more than a thousand years to learn certainly help with hiding very well by the end of it and no one notices that anyone is around after some time. Though at first people noticed something on occasion but never enough to even be certain anyone was there never mind who.
He tries not to see or hear anything happening at Hogwarts during that time and avoids anything else from showing him just how much time passes. Every evening Harry curles up in the ever growing coils of Huntress who is also providing most if not all Basilisk related ingredients around the world turning Harry into a very rich man with several hiding places and vaults that he passes on with a written testament from one fake identity to the next while most stays with him. But this way he occasionally can donate some for children in need.
Despite his efforts Harry still hears more about the castle as he likes though. The elves that help him and know who he is always passing on requests that were made to Lady Hogwarts by those that think the castle has become sentient.
Those requests increase every time Harry agrees to comply to their request with his by now extraordinary magical powers. Though Harry is wishing for the good old days of being Lord Slytherin. At least that was a male title! But most of the time he barely cares anymore. Almost everything becomes meaningless and tedious. Books are repetitive in information and hardly keep his intreset. occasionally he finds something new but after a thousand years there is very little he doesn't know.
Huntress is also getting more restless. She hasn't found pray worthy of a proper hunt in a long time and is growing tired even of hunting. The requests from Huntress for death and release from her ever growing boredom help little to fight Harry's own growing depression. On the contrary. But she promises to wait until a younger version of her friend finds her secret room. But still she asks how much longer that will be almost daily while Harry, afraid of the answer himself because he doesn't want her to die, tries to ignore the passage of time or anything that might tell him how many years he has yet to wait.
Both are relieved when the first opening of the chamber of Secret by Tom Riddle shows that most of that waiting is done. Finally, the time is almost ready for Harry to be himself again. Though after so many years and so many names he had used, Harry is no longer sure he even knows who he is or if he even can just go back to his old life like nothing had happened. He isn't even sure how he feels about it. All he knows is that he has to watch Tom from now on. He has to make sure to get every last item that binds him to this world before they are out of his reach.
Author's Note: How will Harry react to losing Huntress? Will he be able to cope with losing his only real companion for so many years? Or can his elves help him by talking more to him than working almost unnoticed in the background? And most of all, how will Harry deal with the fact that he is by far more powerful than Voldemort and easily could end him but that certainly would change the time line. Will he be able to just watch Voldemort kill countless of people not doing anything? Can he safe some without changing the time line? But what about Myrtle? Can he live with himself if he has to at the very least allow some people to die despite having the power to protect them all? And what about his Parents and Sirius! Can he find a way to at least save one of those he cares about most? And will he see more of the way the marouder acted? Was it as bad as that one memory indicated and if yes, how will Harry deal with it. Especially since he came to care for some that might be Snape's ancestor and he had promised Thalia to train whoever in her family had an intreset in potions. Can he do that without being seen? Or will he find a way to be his old teacher's teacher?
