Chapter 3
The next morning, Peter woke up, alone for the first time in a while. There was a note on the pillow next to him
'Peter,
Had to go get started on prep for my mission, at SHIELD HQ.
No even if you didn't have a mission of your own you can't come on mine. I promise it's not dangerous.
Also, while it's unlikely I'll be done with my mission before you. I know even though you both do, and don't want me to join Clint and Bucky, if I did.
So, I'll head home, and wait for you here. That way you don't have to stress about me listening in.
I know you will do good. I have faith in you.
Natasha…
P.S. I love you'
Peter reread the note several times. This is the first time she's written the words 'I love you,' it's rare that either of them will leave a written note, if they need to get the other a message, they will ask Karen to relay it, or even FRIDAY.
But here it is in black and white. Peter is suddenly nervous again. He's not sure if it came down to it, he could actually go through with cheating on Natasha, lives on the line or not. He could do the act physically… but mentally and more important emotionally he's pretty sure he would hate himself if he did.
Peter got dressed, slowly. A slightly queasy feeling in his stomach.
He knows that he has to complete the mission. Beyond the importance of it, his desire to be a full SHIELD agent. Just like his parents, and so they can stop having to hide their relationship from the other agents.
Selfish as it might sound, he wants to be able to tell these agents to back off of his partner.
He'd even gotten a few tips from Clint on how to handle some of the more assertive ones. He's been her partner for years, so he knew what to do.
Now Peter is ready, and willing to do the same thing, only this time they are going to be more than just work partners.
Peter looks in the mirror and taking a few deep breaths he tells himself, 'you got this, Peter. You got this Spider-man.' He takes comfort in the fact that Natasha told him that most of these missions don't actually involve sex. Just being on a 'date' with another woman is bad enough. He can pretend to flirt and show her a good, but fully clothed time.
Peter webbed, to the tower, his arms achingly empty. He's gotten so used to having Natasha in his arm when they head to the tower.
Clint and Bucky were waiting for him. Clint took one look and put a hand on his shoulder simply said, "try not to stress about it. Everything will be fine." Clint smirked adding, "you think I would want to risk Natasha's wrath if anything happened to you?"
Bucky just shakes his head and cuffs Clint upside the head. "you know that's not what Peter's so stressed about." Bucky ignored Clint's muttering about getting revenge, against one armed fossils. "Peter, you shouldn't stress, as much as I hate to admit it, Clint's right. Everything will be just fine. We have your back."
Bucky turned Peter, towards the elevator. "Go work in the lab, get lost in the science, for a few hours. We'll let you know when it's getting close to time. Until then try not to think about it. If you need to blow off some steam, let me know. I'll be happy to kick your ass in the gym." This time Bucky did smirk.
Peter's grateful to both of them trying to keep him from getting too lost in his head about the mission. He gave them a smile and nodded as the suit retracted to reveal his street clothes.
He would prefer to go work with his dad in his lab, but Tony doesn't know about the mission, and Peter wouldn't be able to hide his worries from him all day.
Then Tony would want to know what's going on and Peter's not sure he could keep it from him.
Peter's not sure how Tony would react. He might gently tease him like Clint and Bucky to help get his mind off it. Or he might get all Irondad and get mad for even thinking of putting Peter through this.
Or worse get Pepper involved, god help anyone involved, if mama boss gets mad.
Peter heads to his personal lab, he has several pictures of him and Natasha in there so it wouldn't be ideal but better than any others.
Karen is already playing his calm playlist when he enters the lab. She of course is privy to not only the mission, but she had his body readings when he was in the suit. So, she knows just how he's feeling.
Peter threw himself into working on a project that doesn't involve careful or heavy thinking. Knowing he'll be in short supply of both today.
Bucky came down during lunch and dragged him up to eat. Peter was tempted to plant his feet and dare Bucky to try, but Bucky had learned how to counter that.
He and Natasha… tickle him.
Once Peter had planted his feet in training and dared him to try and move him.
- (Flashback) -
Natasha with a smirk, had pulled Bucky outside the gym and he could hear her whisper something, into Bucky's ear, but it was so soft, and they were outside of the room that he couldn't hear what she said.
They came back in and Bucky had a smirk on his face. He casually strolled up to Peter, and made like he was going to grab him, he then tickled his sides.
Peter couldn't help it, he started to laugh and squirm out of the way, which led to his concentration breaking which meant that Bucky could easily pick Peter up and carry him over to Natasha.
Peter looked grumpy at them both, Natasha had discovered that weakness during a particularly fun sex session. She wasn't supposed to reveal it.
Natasha just pulled Peter's face to her, "I'm sorry baby. I didn't reveal the details, just told him that you have to concentrate to stay rooted and that your sides are ticklish. He's been sworn to secrecy upon threat of death." She then gently kissed him a few times. They both know he turns to putty in her hands when she does that.
Bucky just looking amused said, "I promise to only use that knowledge, for my benefit, and nobody else's. Not even Steve, who I can tell you is also ticklish." Bucky added with a wink and a smirk.
Peter smiled, he's not really that mad. He looked at Natasha and softly told her, "should I tell him where you are ticklish?"
"You wouldn't dare." Natasha said her eyes narrowing.
"Oh, I would… but since I plan on being the only one, to touch you there… I won't." Peter said getting his point across.
Natasha smirked, proud of how he handled it.
- (End Flashback) -
Peter smiled at that memory. Then Karen shut down the equipment as Peter joined Bucky and Clint for lunch.
They did go over the plans, again. Mostly just the contingences and escape routes.
Peter went back to his lab and went back to work.
An hour later, Peter's queasy feeling is back.
He heard his phone vibrate, from a text message.
It's from Natasha
'Peter, my love, just breathe. Everything will be fine.'
'Who told you? Clint, FRIDAY, or Karen?"
"Nobody, I know you, you've been stressing about this. Just remember what I said. I have faith in you, and I know you will be fine.'
'I love you; I'll see you at home.'
'I love you too. I'll see you later.'
That worked, Peter felt better. Knowing that Natasha has faith in him. That has always worked, even way back when they were still just student/teacher, mentor/mentee.
Her faith in him, got him through a lot of things.
Knowing she believes in him, has gave him strength to get back up, when he wanted to stay down.
He knew he would need to come up with a plan. He looks quickly through the database of different ideas that the company has come up with.
He found two plans that he can use to complete his mission.
He had Karen start to manufacture the parts. He put them together and they tested them out.
He barely finished the second item just after 5pm. After taking a few minutes to test it with Karen, he breathed a sigh of relief.
He has a plan now. Sarah Walker isn't going to know what hit her, metaphorically speaking.
Peter went up to his room. Taking a shower and lightly using the cologne that Natasha had gotten him for Christmas.
She has said more than once, she loves how good he smells in it.
He put on the expensive looking watch, that houses a stealth version of his web shooter. And as part of his plan, a single shot of widow's kiss. As well as Karen.
He put on the suit and made sure to look himself over, as not to miss anything.
He asked FRIDAY if anyone is in the common room. When she said no, he snuck to the elevator. He doesn't want anyone seeing him all dressed up. Clint had already told him that he and Bucky had already left to get the surveillance van from SHIELD HQ and would be at the hotel when he arrived.
Peter borrowed one of dad's less flashy cars, that don't have his personalized plate on it. They use the cars, if someone needs to project an air, of being well off. But not affiliated with Stark.
Peter took a deep breath and then looked at Natasha's text one more time. He then pulled out of the garage. Heading towards the hotel and his mission. Get the data from Sarah Walker, and not lose Natasha in the process.
Peter parked the nice Audi and looked around. His Spidey sense can tell that people are looking at him, but nobody is looking, with intent. They are just seeing a well-dressed good-looking man in a nice car. He heard a couple of soft moans from a group of women that had spotted him as they walked into the hotel. He heard a couple of them tell the others they hope he goes to the same bar they plan on going to.
Peter spotted the van and looking around once more to check he heads towards it.
Peter walked into the hotel, his talk with Clint and Bucky went as well as he figured it would. He has a small earwig so they can talk to him.
He's got a nice pair of glasses on, that has hidden cameras. They are tied to the van's surveillance so Clint and Bucky can see what Peter sees.
Peter strolled confidently into the bar/restaurant. He spotted the group of women. They hadn't seen him yet, thankfully. He doubts that Sarah Walker would be part of that group.
From what little he's been able to gather. She prefers to eat alone.
"There she is, the blonde woman 4th from the end of the bar, little black dress. You might wanna hurry the guy next to her, is trying to put the moves on her." Clint's voice spoke in his ear.
Peter saw her as well. Luckily the other seat next her is empty.
He walked up and projecting as much confidence as he can, he asks, "excuse me, is this seat taken?"
The woman turned and Peter saw her pupils dilated slightly. That's a good sign, it shows that she's interested, in what she sees.
She said, "no it's not." At the same time the guy on the other side said, "yeah it is buddy."
Peter ignored the man and sat next to the woman. He flagged the bartender down. "Jack and coke, please."
"Remember, you don't want to get drunk." Clint said, not that Peter needed the reminder. He's well aware that despite his enhanced healing. Alcohol unfortunately does affect him.
After he takes a sip, he turns to see that the woman is still slightly turned towards him. She's ignoring the other guy as much as Peter is. Peter holds out his hand, "Charles Carmichael." He introduced his cover.
The woman with a smile, took his hand, "Sarah Walker, nice to meet you Mr. Carmichael."
"Please, Ms. Walker, call me Charles."
"Only if you call me Sarah." She said smiling at him, he'd felt a slight shock when they shook hands.
Peter nodded, with a smile.
Sarah, still ignoring the other guy, who's now realizing, that she's a lost cause, stops trying to get her attention. "So, tell me, Charles, what do you do?"
"I own a small tech startup called Carmichael industries. I'm in town to try and get some capital."
"that sounds… boring." Sarah said with a smile.
"Oh, it can be. May I ask what you do, Sarah?"
"Me? I'm a fixer. I flew into town to take care of a problem for one of my clients."
"Oh, that doesn't sound boring at all. I guess it might be a good idea, to get to know you. In case I ever get naughty and end up needing the services, of a good fixer." Peter said with a smirk.
Sarah leaned towards him, touching his hand. "I'm a firm believer that, it's not what you know, but who."
Peter can see that this Sarah is definitely interested. Peter worries that this might be going too easy.
Still he'll press on, until his Spidey sense starts to yell at him. "Would you like to have dinner with me? I'm not usually this forward, but I am interested in hearing about what you do, hypothetically of course."
"Hypothetically, yes, as you know, my clients demand a certain amount of privacy." Sarah said. Her hand coming up to brush her blonde hair behind her ear. "I do believe I could eat; shall we get a table here?"
Peter just flagged the bartender and took care of both their tabs.
He then slid off the stool and holding out an arm he waved her ahead.
They walked to the hostess that immediately took them to an empty table.
Peter waved off the waiter and pulled the chair out for Sarah himself. She smiled her thanks as Peter walked around to sit down across from her.
"Very smooth so far, but don't get too cocky. She could still get away." Clint's voice surprised Peter, he'd gotten so caught up, that he forgot that he has two other people listening to his every word.
Peter picked up the menu, "do you know what's good here?"
"You've never been here before?"
"No this is my first time in the big apple. I've not had much time to sightsee. I had promised myself I would take the time to see some of the sights before I left, but I leave tomorrow and won't have time."
They ordered their drinks. As the waiter came up to the table. The woman, eyeing Peter, he heard with his enhanced hearing the very low quiet moan of appreciation, from the young woman. Peter ignored it knowing that he would not normally be able to hear it.
After the waiter left, Sarah smirked slightly at him and said, "I guess I'm not the only one that likes what she sees."
Peter feigned confusion.
"Our waiter seems to like you."
"Does that mean, you like what you see as well?" Peter said smoothly and confidently, he can't help but think of and silently thank Natasha, for all the work she's done, to increase Peter's confidence, outside of the suit. It has helped him greatly when dealing with board members, as well as his fellow employees.
Sarah's smile turned sly, "I guess we'll have to see."
It wasn't until later after they had ordered their food that Peter realized something. He can't hear the woman's heartbeat. He was so distracted by making sure he didn't screw up his date and how well it seems to be going.
That led to another revelation. He assumed that he was just doing this well, being smooth and confident.
However, he realized that something….
He's very comfortable around this woman.
Too comfortable… that worries him.
He made sure not to show any of that on his face, he's learned that this woman is very observant, he realized that when she commented about their waitress's infatuation. She knew just by looking at her, she didn't have the benefit of his enhanced senses.
Bucky and Clint had been oddly mostly quiet, just the occasional comment. In part to let him know they are still there and to entertain themselves.
In the van
"Oh, shit, shit, shit… fuck, fuck, fuck… what is she doing here!?" Clint said when he saw a very familiar person walking towards the restaurant entrance on their surveillance monitor.
Bucky looked over and felt the blood drain from his face, "How did you let this happen?"
"Me?! I'm not her keeper… what about you?"
"Wait… please tell me you turned off Peter's comm?" Bucky suddenly asked.
Clint looked down and breathed a sigh of relief. "Yeah, thank god." He started to reach for the button to turn it back on asking, "what do we tell him?"
Bucky lunged forward to slap Clint's hand away saying, "Nothing yet."
Clint shook his hand that is smarting from Bucky's hit. He looked over frowning at him. "Would you please stop hitting me."
"Then stop doing stupid things. Now tell me, how do we tell Peter that his aunt just showed up." Bucky said.
They both know that May… hot-blooded Italian woman, that she is, if she thinks that Peter is cheating on Natasha, she will confront her nephew. Not caring about any scenes, she might make.
"Wait, that's Happy with her, I didn't recognize him at first, he's… smiling." Clint said peering closer at the monitor to the man next to May.
"Send Happy a text, telling him that Peter is on a mission, undercover and to get May out of here…" Bucky said looking over to see that yes Happy is… well happy, and so unlike the usually dour man they know, it makes him almost unrecognizable.
Clint pulled out his phone and sent the text.
They watched Happy take his phone out and frown at the message then text something back
'Look whomever you are, leave me alone. Go bother someone else.'
"I don't… he blew me off!?" Clint said shocked.
"Did you say who you are?"
Clint had the good sense to look sheepish when he realized that he hadn't, he picked up his phone again and sent 'this is Barton, I'm not kidding, Peter is undercover and he can't have his mission blown.'
They watched Happy take his phone out again, looking perturbed. He frowned even deeper then sent back. 'right and I'm Natasha Romanoff, look whomever this is, leave me alone.'
"That, that… I don't know how… why doesn't he believe me?"
"Go and physically tell him in person…." Bucky said pointing to the door.
"why don't you go, he's already ignored me…"
"You're closer to the door and you've already contacted him twice." Bucky countered.
"You are just too lazy to do it…" Clint said looking Bucky over.
A smirk was all he got in response.
"Fine, don't touch any of the equipment, this is highly specialized SHIELD equipment…" Clint trailed off when he heard Bucky snort.
"Highly specialized… Ha, I used this same type of equipment to do a surveillance mission… 30 years ago."
Clint ignoring what Bucky said just pointed his two fingers at his own eyes then turned his hand to point them at Bucky the universal way of saying 'I've got my eyes on you.'
Bucky ignored it to wave Clint out, in the universal 'get going.'
Unfortunately, neither Bucky nor Clint realized, that when Clint dropped his phone in surprise, after the first text, he accidently turned Peter's comm back on.
Bucky found out when Peter suddenly said, "Guy's what's going on?"
Bucky's head whipped over to the monitor, he's suddenly worried they had missed Peter being taken hostage or something, but the video shows an empty table. "Did you drive her away?" Bucky said trying to keep it light, not sure how long Peter's been able to hear them.
"No Sarah took her purse, to go to the restroom. Tell me I didn't hear you both arguing about getting May and… Happy out of here…. She can't find out, not only would she kill me, but I would fail the mission, if this Sarah, doesn't try to kill us first…." Peter said letting his worries take over.
Not only has he been stressed about the mission, and how relaxed he wants to be, around this stranger.
But now he's worried about his personal life and his spy life colliding. It's not that May doesn't know that he's training to be a spy, and has gone on missions that were less avengers and more spy in nature, but she won't understand him being with another woman, in what is clearly a date.
Bucky winced at the start of Peter's panic; he did his best to calm Peter down. "Don't worry Clint is taking care of it." Bucky couldn't help the wince that came with it, as good a spy as Clint is, May is in a stubborn class, all her own, on par with Tony. If she doesn't want to leave, they wouldn't be able to make her leave, without causing a scene.
Clint came back a few minutes later, his look didn't instill confidence in Bucky, but before Bucky could warn him about Peter's comm being on, he said, "I tried, but Happy's not sure he can get her to leave, something about her heart, being set on trying the food, here for a while…. OW what was that for?" Clint said after Bucky cuffed him upside the head again.
Bucky with the same 'are you stupid' look, pointed at the button for Peter's comm.
Clint felt all the blood drain from his face, when he saw it was on.
His head whipped up, to look at the monitor, to see that Sarah is back at the table, so Peter can't talk any more.
- (flashback 5 minutes) -
Clint feeling very indignant, walked quickly into the hotel. He'd worn regular clothes, just in case. He spotted Happy waiting by the lady's restroom. He walked up and quietly said, "Next time I text you, don't ignore me…"
Happy looked over shocked to see Clint Barton, "What the hell are you doing here?"
"I told you, Peter is here, undercover on a mission…"
"What?!" Happy barely remembered to keep his voice down.
"Shhh, yes he's here…"
"Where's Romanoff…" happy figured that Peter's here, then she would be too.
"She's not here… Peter's… his mission is to seduce a female spy, and get information without her knowing…" Clint can't believe he's telling Happy this, not that Happy isn't trustworthy, but still Clint has to at least warn him, so Happy knows how imperative it is, that he get May out of here, before she sees Peter.
"He's wha… mghhhh." Clint lunged forward to cover Happy's mouth when he started to shout his surprise.
They gave each other dirty looks, right before Clint removed his hand.
"Yes, I know, but that's Peter's mission, you need to get May out of here, before she blows it.
"I'll… do what I can, but May's been talking about eating here, for a month, and unless I can tell her why, we can't eat here, she's not going to go…" Happy said.
"I'm not, I don't know, how she would react, she's not a spy, she doesn't know how to respond, to that situation…. I don't know, but do your best, but please, don't react to Peter and the blonde woman in the black dress he's with, it will be clear they are on a date…"
Happy felt a chill, when Clint said blond, with a black dress. "Do you mean, medium length dark blond with a fairly short black cocktail dress, and a small silver clutch/purse thing?"
"I think so, yeah… why?"
"Because she just walked into the restroom, right before May, I noticed the woman as we walked down the hall. You need to go now."
"Don't react to Peter, this woman is very observant." Clint said, as he started to move away, knowing that he can't do anything more.
Happy turned when the door opened and the woman in question walked out.
Happy called on all of his training as a bodyguard, to not react to the woman.
She looked at him once, then turned to head back into the dining room.
Happy silently breathed a sigh of relief glad to see he'd pulled it off. He felt his knees get weak for a moment, before he called on his old boxing training taking a few deep breaths he waited until May came out.
She started to smile at him, until she noticed his look. "What's wrong, don't tell me you got called away… I'm sorry but I've been wanting to eat here, so if you have been called away, go on, I can eat alone." May said, she's not mad, she knows that Happy has a very demanding job, and her time off is rare, so she's not leaving.
"Uh, no, I didn't get called away… uh Barton's here, Peter's…" Happy pauses, not sure how to tell May this, "Peter's here on an undercover mission, he's in the dining room… on a date…"
"Okay, so he and Natasha are here, no big deal…" she trailed off when she saw him wince.
"Uh, Romanoff's… not… here. Peter's with… another woman."
May's eyes got wide, "he's wha…" she closed her mouth, when she started to realize how loud she's getting.
"Barton wants us to leave…"
"No, I'm hungry and I can control myself, I know more about the spy business then Barton thinks. My brother and sister in law, did this for the entire time I knew them. I can behave myself… as long as Peter behaves himself." May said the last part quietly. Not that she's too worried she knows her baby.
To show that she's done talking about it, she turned to head towards the hostess station. Happy hurried behind her. He, as casually as he could, mentioned that they wanted to sit in the section of the dining room, that was the furthest from Peter.
They both glanced over to see Peter and the blond woman, sitting there having a casual almost intimate conversation. Happy frown, if he didn't know who it was, he would swear it was two people having a very good time.
Peter spotted May and Happy as soon as they entered the room. He didn't react but internally he felt himself flinch. This mission has just gotten much more difficult.
"I'm sorry am I boring you?" Sarah asked, looking at Peter.
"No, I'm sorry, just had one of those last minute, oh crap did I forget to turn off the iron, type thoughts. But it's not a big deal, please continue. You were telling me about a hypothetical client you had in L.A. that might have gotten caught with several women, who were not his wife…" Peter asked doing his best to get her back on topic and off of why he might have been distracted.
"Yes, well, that wasn't easy since he let himself get videotaped… hypothetically of course." Sarah smiled; she's very much enjoying her time with Charles.
Thankfully for May and Happy where they were sited was behind the woman. Since neither could keep their eyes from straying to Peter and the woman's table.
Happy jumped, when his phone vibrated. He looked down to see Clint had sent, 'stop looking, you will blow his cover.'
Happy showed the text to May she looked up at the camera and gave it a dirty eye. They both then concentrated on their menu. However, they both heard a woman's laugh from the table and they both saw Sarah her head back laughing, as Peter can't help but laugh himself.
May just purposefully buried her head in the menu and tried read what it says.
She jumped when the waiter walked up to take their order.
The young woman smiled, as she added, "it must be that time of year, first that cute couple of there, and now you both." The waitress trailed off.
May couldn't help it, she asked, "that couple, in black over there?" she slightly indicated Peter's table.
"Oh yes, he's so handsome, and they both seem to really be into each other, it's so cute. I guess they just met at the bar and it must be love at first sight." The waitress said her voice sounding so wistful as she pulls her pad to her chest getting lost in the thoughts of love at first sight. She clears her thought and looking slightly embarrassed for acting that way, she adds, "I'm sorry, may I take your order?"
Happy orders a drink, knowing he might need to watch what he drinks so he doesn't react. May thinking the same thing orders a glass of wine.
May side eyes her nephew and can't believe how he's acting. If she didn't know any better, she would believe that he's with Natasha. However, the blonde doesn't really act like Natasha. Although having spent several years around spies, longer than most of the team realizes. She can spot how a spy acts, and it's clear that the woman is a spy.
She heard Happy talking and realized he's been speaking for several moments she feels bad about this. It's so rare that they get to spend any time together and now she's very distracted by her nephew. "I'm sorry Happy, what was that?"
Happy not at all surprised, he too is distracted by the other table. He can't get over how they are both acting.
(in the van)
"They are going to blow his cover…" Clint said having Peter's video on one monitor and May and Happy's table on the other big monitor. "We can't go in there, the target knows me, and your metal arm is kind of a dead giveaway."
Bucky didn't have the urge to tell him 'duh.' They both can only keep watch and hope that nothing happens to Peter or May and Happy.
Both were also surprised to see how comfortable Peter seems to be acting around the woman. Also, how Sarah seems to enjoy her time with 'Charles Carmichael'
They both held their breath when Sarah noticed Peter being distracted by May and Happy's entrance.
Thankfully he seemed able to convince her it is nothing.
Bucky said, "I'm going to rotate through the surveillance cameras make sure there isn't anything a miss." That would let Peter know they are making sure he is safe, and it gives Bucky something to do.
Although neither are surprised that they haven't had to give Peter much advise during the dinner. Mostly they just bickered with each other to let Peter know they are still there.
(at the table)
Peter and Sarah are talking laughing and having a good time. Peter can see that May and Happy are both glancing over his way every now and then. Still he does his best to keep from showing that on his face.
He almost pulled his hand back when he noticed his hand moved over to take Sarah's. Thankfully she had looked down surprised, to miss his own look of surprise on his face. He had not intended to have any physical contact with her this evening. However, if he pulled back now, when Sarah seems to like the fact that he was bold enough to do it, would be bad.
Peter pulls his hand back to pick up his glass as he signals for the check. "I want to thank you for a most wonderful evening. I haven't had this good a dinner in a while." Peter said.
"Same here Charles, you are very good company." Sarah said, she didn't realize how long the dinner had gone on. Time seem to stand still for her.
Peter took the check and paid it with a generous tip.
As they both stood up, Peter walked over to help her put her coat on.
Sarah stood near Peter and asked, "would you like to come up, to my room?" There was a hint of something in her voice.
"You haven't gotten the information so now would be the time to say yes…"
Peter paused just for a second and then a small smile crossed his face before disappearing.
"I, uh, you know what sure. I would be love to join you." Peter said ignoring the squawking voices in his ear.
Sarah turned to pick up her purse and missed Peter's reaction.
Peter put a hand lightly on her lower back. And guided her out of the restaurant.
May watched not sure what to make of her nephew, he's up to something.
"May, I told you Peter's undercover, it's a mission." Happy said. He's still recovering from the minor heart attack when they saw Peter with the woman.
Peter and Sarah made their way up to her room.
"Let me go freshen up really quick." Sarah said taking her purse, into the bathroom.
"Peter, whatever you plan on doing, do it quickly." Clint told him.
"I am." Peter said as he pressed a button on his watch. "Karen execute 'say goodnight, Gracie.'"
"Are you sure Peter?"
"Yes, Karen put the boys out of their misery, and tell them I know." Peter said.
"Okay, sending the data to the van now, and disconnecting the feed."
"Thank you, Karen… and you have a good night to." Peter said knowing she doesn't want to let him go.
Peter waited until he heard Karen disconnect before he took off his coat and tie. He then took the lockpicking tools and quietly unlocked the door. He had waited until he heard her be done doing what she's doing. He can hear the sink water running.
He slipped in and watched Sarah turn to him, surprised at how bold he is. "and just what do you think you are doing?" her tone sounded more amused than upset.
Peter walked up to her with a soft smile. He reached out and lightly touched her cheek, "You know it's incredible."
Tilting her head slightly she asked, "What?"
"The technology behind these masks. Even up close I still can't see it, how it blends so smoothly into your skin."
He then touched her hair, "you know моя королева паук, blond is fine, but I much prefer your natural red color."
