Signers Locked Down
Chapter 3 First Day
In the early hours of the next morning, Akiza was up, showered and dressed before she went downstairs to put Willow's lead on. The German Shepherd Dog barked excitedly, as Akiza leashed her and waited for Luna. Luna wasn't long in coming, she was quickly showered, dressed and ready.
The two female signers opened the front door and went out with Willow.
"Where are we going, Akiza?"
"We're taking Willow to the park, I'll let her off there."
"Good idea."
"Want to hold Willow?"
"Sure."
Quickly, Akiza passed Willow's lead to Luna, who held it closely while the dog pulled eagerly. Luna gently pulled Willow back to keep her in line.
Akiza and Luna made their way towards the park that was near the house, as the two female signers walked, they noticed the roads were quiet and still. No cars or duel runners were driving, for there was a restriction on non-essential travel.
After reaching the park, the two signers walked onto the luscious green field where Akiza released Willow from her lead.
"Luna, do you want to throw the ball for Willow?"
"Yes please, Akiza."
Akiza passed Luna the ball and thrower, Luna then threw the ball into the distance. Willow shot after the ball, with a wagging tail and picked it up in her mouth. Luna swiftly threw it again, Willow shot after it and returned with it.
"Want to have a throw?"
"Of course, she's my dog after all."
Luna passed Willow's ball and thrower to Akiza, who threw it with a flick of her wrist. Willow barked and bounded towards it, her paws thumped the wet and muddy grass. Willow barked excitedly as Akiza threw the ball for her.
"You can have another throw, Luna."
"Thanks, Akiza."
Akiza passed Luna the ball and thrower, Luna eagerly through it and Willow bounded after it, taking it in her teeth. Willow rushed eagerly back with the ball, dropping it and barking excitedly.
Luna took the ball in the thrower, while Akiza stroked and petted Willow's head. With a flick of her wrist, Luna threw the ball and Willow barked and wagged her long sabre tail and took off after it.
No sooner had Willow returned, she deposited the ball and looked at Luna and Akiza.
"One more throw and then we'll head back."
Luna picked up the ball in the thrower and threw it, Willow bounded towards it and returned with it in her mouth. Akiza put Willow's lead back on and Luna picked up the ball before they took Willow back.
"I wonder what they're doing at home."
"Yes, Luna, Jack did say that he needed to start painting the living room."
As Luna and Akiza walked home together with Willow, they were keen to know what the others were doing.
After arriving home, Akiza turned her key in the lock and she, Luna and Willow walked in. In the kitchen they saw Yusei, Jack, Crow and Leo sitting down at the table eating bowls of cereal, beef burgers and eggs.
"Good morning, Akiza, do you and Luna want to join us for breakfast?"
"Good morning, Yusei, yes please."
Akiza and Luna got bowls of cereal, a beef burger each and eggs before sitting down with Yusei and the others.
"Did you have a good walk?"
"Yes, thanks, Yusei, Luna and I took turns to hold Willow and throw her ball for her."
"That's good, Jack, Crow, Leo and I are going to have to start painting the living room soon."
"That's quite true, Yusei."
"We need to give it a coat of emulsion."
"Do you two want to join us?"
"Yes, please."
After finishing their breakfast, the signers departed and changed into their messy clothes and reconvened in the back living room.
Jack had brought in paint rollers and brushes while Yusei came with the dark blue emulsion paint.
"Let's get started."
Yusei filled the trays with the dark blue emulsion paint, and then everybody began work.
Yusei and Jack worked the far side of the wall, while Crow and Leo dealt with the corner sides and Akiza and Luna handled the other side.
As the signers worked none of them realised how much time had passed.
"Shall we take a break?"
"Good idea, Yusei."
The signers went into the kitchen where Akiza made a healthy lunch of Pan-Asian stir fry for everyone before Yusei and Jack went for a walk.
"What do you think the update will be today, Jack?"
"Most likely another set of deaths and cases, Yusei."
"What about restrictions?"
"The first review is in three weeks."
"Interesting, I wonder what they'll say."
"I doubt they'll ease restrictions."
"It's too early."
Yusei pulled out his mobile phone and selected his, Jack and Crow's friend Kalin's number and rang it. The phone rang multiple times before Kalin answered his mobile phone from Crash Town. Kalin now lived in Crash Town after his brief stint as a Dark Signer.
"Hello, who is this?"
"Hi, Kalin, this is Yusei speaking."
"Yusei, how are you?"
"I'm good thanks, Kalin, how are you?"
"I'm good, how is lockdown affecting you?"
"Well, it's only day one so it's too early to tell, how are you finding it?"
"To be honest, Yusei it's a bit boring but it is what it is, for the best."
"True, Kalin, what are you doing to pass time?"
"I mostly paint pictures of some of the monsters I use and face in my duels, I also have the occasional duel at sundown and that's kind of it, what do you do?"
"At the moment we're mostly just hanging out and chilling, we're painting the living rooms and Akiza's mostly just walking her dog and keeping in touch with Misty and Carly and we're also gardening, Luna's not taking it too well, are you keeping in touch with anyone?"
"Aside from you, Jack and Crow, not really, I mean since we defeated Lawton there's not really a great deal of people to talk to except Radley really."
"How is he?"
"He's ok, just doing the same old stuff."
"I see, do you think you'll come down after lockdown?"
"Yes probably."
"Anyway, Kalin, I hope you stay safe and keep positive and I'll look forward to seeing you after lockdown."
"Take care, Yusei."
"And you, Kalin."
Yusei hung up the phone and put it away.
"How was Kalin?"
"Well, Jack, he was alright, just getting on with things."
"I see, Yusei, shall we go to the river to duel?"
"I think we should."
Yusei and Jack crossed the road and went to the river. They stood opposite each other on the grassy field with their decks and duel disks at the ready.
"Let's duel!"
"I'll start, I summon Junk Synchron in attack mode!"
An orange metal creature resembling a workman appeared on the field.
"Now that I've summoned Junk Synchron, I can now summon Speed Warrior!"
A grey warrior appeared on the field.
"I now tune Junk Synchron and Speed Warrior to Synchro summon Junk Warrior!"
Yusei's Junk Warrior appeared on the field.
"I'll round off by laying a card face down, your turn, Jack."
"I summon my Vice Dragon in defence mode and lay a card face down and end my turn."
"Junk Warrior, attack Vice Dragon with Scrap Fist!"
Yusei's Junk Warrior prepared to attack.
"That's what I was hoping you'd do because I activate my trap card Dimensional Prison that removes your Junk Warrior from play."
"I activate my own trap, Trap Jammer that negates and destroys Dimensional Prison!"
"No way!"
"That ends my turn!"
"My turn, I summon Dread Dragon in attack mode and tune it with my Vice Dragon to synchro summon Exploder Dragonwing!"
Exploder Dragonwing emerged.
"Exploder Dragonwing, attack Junk Warrior!"
Exploder Dragonwing shot across the field and with a single blast it destroyed Junk Warrior. Yusei's life points dropped down to seventeen-hundred.
"My turn, Junk Warrior's special ability now activates and Speed Warrior returns, now I activate the Spell card Meteor Stream, by sacrificing Speed Warrior I can now hit you with a thousand points of damage!"
Jack's life points fell to three-thousand.
"I now summon Quillbolt Hedgehog in defence mode and then I'll end my turn!"
"My go, I'll start by summoning Dark Tinker in defence mode and then I'll end with a face down!"
"I summon my Hyper Synchron in attack mode and tune it with my level two Speed Warrior and Level two Quillbolt Hedgehog to Synchro summon Stardust Dragon!"
With a mighty roar Stardust Dragon appeared on the field.
"Now, Stardust, attack his Exploder Dragonwing with Cosmic Flare!"
A stream of white energy shot from Stardust Dragon's mouth, straight for Exploder Dragonwing.
