Chris looked over all the applications and sighed, how did he manage to do this before? He looked around the room trying to locate Chef, who was sleeping? Either that or he just talks about ponies while looking at the ceiling wide-eyed. Chef's always been like that for as long as he could remember. Weird, I mean crossed his mind as he began to remember when they first met. They had met a couple of years after both of them had graduated high school at a small bar. Out of all of the people gathering around tables to place bets, drink, and repeat, Chef was the one who stood out the most to him. He was quiet but loud, enticing but threatening. But the thing that they both had in common, they really loved their gambling.
Chris chuckled to himself as he remembered how he almost won against Chef before getting beat. Chef never told him the trick he used to win actually, he would have to ask him later. Looking around the room trying to find something to keep him entertained, he really noticed just how bland the staff room really was.
They were in a greenish-gray room, that was hardly decorated except for the usual circle table made out of aged wood and what used to be a black paint that was now chipping away, some black office chairs of which Chris was currently sitting on, a whiteboard with a missing eraser, a matching black sofa and loveseat (he never understood why it was called that) with Chef occupying the sofa to himself, a couple of plants that were starting to turn brown, and some motivational posters of which his favorite being an overly aggressive "DID YOU SMILE TODAY" art piece with an angry baby on it.
As he continued to look over the applications, his mind drifted to a place he never would have wished on his greatest enemy..well actually he might have but it's not important. Prison. It was horrible. They fed him the same thing every day and he was always pushed to the back of the line, making his food cold. He was limited to only having three personal items in his possession. I mean did they realize how much hair gel he went through every day? A lot, truly horrendous that policy. Then on top of that, no one there even knew who he was! This was the worst of all of the things he went through. I mean it was him! CHRIS! MCLEAN! Host of TOTAL DRAMA! I mean his stubble was the most iconic thing about him and no one recognized him!
He drew his attention back to the applications to try to stop thinking about it, to no avail and only stressing himself more while crossing out two people's faces from the bunch. He again sighed, though this time more dramatically. The ratio of girls to boys was alarming to him. He decided to try to be more "positive" as his therapist would say, and accept some people. The first one that caught his eye was a girl by the name of Maya Rose, who was the epitome of a girly girl. Blonde hair(Check), Blue eyes (Check), Pink? (Definitely checked) Nevertheless, he accepted her as she seemed interesting plot-wise. She was officially the first one he accepted as he continued the process. Heh, look at this, Maya's brother signed up to be an intern. Accept. This is gonna be good.
He was tired, to say the least, he had spent hours looking at everyone's application with no help from Chef. He decided a quick nap wouldn't hurt and packed all the applications in his brand new-well actually he's had it for a couple of years now but he just now has started using it- briefcase. As he struggled to close the briefcase because of a broken zipper, he felt himself getting more tired. And then right there, he fell asleep.
His dream had begun. Chris "woke up" in his old prison cell. At first, he thought that he was just seeing things but no he was there. Same bed, same map, same beetles. He gulped, repeating the same thought over in his head as the guard began yard time. This. Is. Bad. As he walked outside he saw someone sitting in the same spot on the bleachers he had sat in since the very first day. Second row all the way to the left. He nervously looked around to see if there was anybody watching him, to try to test him maybe. Nope. He walked over to the stranger to try to work things out.
"Uh dude, you're sitting in my usual spot and I'm not exactly best pals with change y'know?" The stranger looked over at him and stood up for a more threatening effect. It worked, he towered over Chris and cracked his knuckles. He seemed younger than Chris given the fact that his beard appeared to have been a recent addition to his face, and the way that he kept looking at the same group repeatedly for possibly approval. "Listen here and listen real good, alright grandpa? You do not want to mess with someone who could crush your pathetic self in a heartbeat. So you're going to go back to wherever you came from and from now on this is my seat. Kapeesh?"
Chris didn't say anything and instead shook his head to try to not say the wrong thing. New achievement: Wrong Move. "I want a verbal response. Don't try to weasel your way out of this shit or the consequence will be..let's just say not good.." Chris said nothing and the seat-snatcher (Name deemed by Chris) took his silence as an objection. The seat-snatcher had a visibly mood-lifting change. He raised his arm and right as he was about to strike..
"CHRIS MCLEAN!" Chris woke up to see that his briefcase had some drool on it and quickly wiped it off. This was a daily thing -the prison nightmares- ever since he had been granted parole. He had to start seeing a therapist and taking medications to help with his anxiety. It really sucked but..they did help him. He soon realized he needed to finish something."AGH THE APPLICATIONS! I NEED TO FINISH THEM!" He reached into the briefcase and pulled out the stack of papers. He took the first one he saw June Bethany Melane to see that..it had already been accepted? He took another application out, Ginny O'Çonner to see that it had also been accepted. He repeated this with everyone else and had the same result.
"But who.." He trailed off as he saw Chef attempting to stand nonchalantly but failing. "Well, you always said you wanted to have me help more with the show. And when I saw how stressed you were.." Chef like Chris trailed off. "Wait, you were awake?" Chris realized that his best friend did indeed stare at ceilings while talking about ponies. "Come here, buddy." Chris smiled before walking over to him and hugging him.
Aww, now who doesn't love a good bromance :)
Anyways before I reveal the first draft of the cast, I want to say that if you don't see your OC here it doesn't mean I didn't accept it. I could just be thinking about it or not. I could have declined it. BUT! I will allow you two chances to submit an OC. The first one, and if they don't get accepted, you can submit another one. This doesn't give you a guaranteed spot in the cast list, but it does give you another chance to try to get on that list.
Now, onto the cast list so far!
