Super short chapter today. But the last one was pretty long so I don't feel too bad. Lol!
ooOoo
Kailey followed the dark haired boy out of the Hall in utter awe. When she had taken his hand, a sharp tingle had raced up her arm and set her veins on fire. She was stunned by this new development, overwhelmed by the very idea that her, a little nerdy witch, was now paired with the most famous wizard in the world, next only to Merlin maybe. She was so lost in the craziness of it all that she wasn't paying attention to where he was taking her until she found herself being pulled into a cozy little nook under some stairs.
Harry had pulled her into his body, one arm wrapped around her waist holding her to him while the other came up to finish brushing the tears from her cheeks.
"I can't believe this. I just can't bloody believe this." He reached down and pressed their foreheads together has he gave a soft laugh, "This bloody law has been the best bloody thing to happen to me. Merlin you're beautiful!"
Kailey sniffed and asked, "But, but what about Ginny?"
Harry cupped her cheek and shook his head, "I haven't felt anything for Ginny in almost two years. I was still with her because I love the whole Weasley clan. Hermione and them are the only family I have left and I was worried I'd lose them if I broke it off with Ginny. To be honest, she's really possessive and not in a cute way. Besides," he reached up and began placing kisses on her forehead, her cheeks, her eyes, her nose, "This law brought you to me. My own soulmate. Never in a hundred years would I have thought I'd be lucky enough to find my soulmate."
Kailey stared up into bright green eyes behind glasses and hope bloomed in her chest. "You mean… you're not in love with Ginny?"
"No beautiful witch, I'm not."
Their lips were so close and her heart was racing. The Hat had been right! That dang, musty, wonderful Hat had been right.
Kailey rose the rest of the way and pressed her lips to his. A burst of gold erupted around them as their magic cores met and merged. It was a heady, scary, wonderfully intense feeling. Like she was falling and flying. Like she was coming home and leaving for an adventure. It was the singular most fantastic moment in her life and she knew that there was absolutely nothing that would ever compare. Nothing.
When they finally broke apart to breathe, all they seemed capable of doing was staring into each other's eyes. Until a giddy laugh bubbled up from her chest and she couldn't help but let it spill from her lips. Harry grinned widely and pulled her flush with his body. Reaching down, he caught her lips again and while there weren't any more gold fireworks, it was still a mind blowing kiss. When they pulled apart again Kailey whispered, "I'm so glad that hat didn't listen to me."
Harry chuckled, "Me too."
And then he was kissing her again.
