Chapter 3: Homemade Rice Krispies Treats

The next day, we all met up in Mount Lebanon for a cooking class. "Hi, guys!" I greeted my friends. "Hi, Angel!" Sarah greeted back. "I wonder what we are going to make to eat today," Henri stated. "I am so hungry!" He then licked his lips. "It looks like we are making our own Rice Krispies treats, Henri," James replied. "One important skill of living on your own is learning how to cook your own meals and snacks," I pointed out. "But, the key thing is that we are learning how to cook and eat healthy things!" "It's okay, Angel," Sarah told me. "It's only a special occasion, you know." "Didn't you learn about the art of cooking at your middle school science fair once, Sarah?" I asked. "Yes, and creativity is an essential part of cooking," Sarah replied. "Do you think that my girlfriend, Sybil would have learned how to cook meals for me if we were still together?" James asked. "I don't know, James," I pointed out. "After all, she is only a year younger than you are!" "Benedict would have learned the art of cooking the same way," Sarah added. We followed our recipes very carefully to make these homemade Rice Krispies treats. Not to mention, we added different decorations to our treats. Sarah and I both used extra marshmallows, James drizzled chocolate syrup on his Rice Krispies treat, and Henri used Cocoa Krispies cereal instead of Rice Krispies cereal. After our treats were done cooking, James and Henri drove Sarah and me back to our condominium in Squirrel Hill. "Thanks for a great day, everyone!" I thanked my friends. "You're welcome, Angel," Sarah replied. "Bye, guys!" "Bye!"
