Chapter 3: Countdown to the ball
The week was very relaxed. Since everyone knows that Cody wents to the ball with eleanor and that both had a date, no one asks him out anymore. Indeen, some girls were envious about Eleanor, who gets a lot more attention than unusual. Of course, no one insults her or Cody, the girls only wanted to know if Eleanor had a special way to ensnare him. They wanted to know a trick where was none. Missy stays away from Eleanor, for what Brittany and the others were very thankful. Even Cody had no more trouble with the other boys, indeed he spends time with the other guys of the basketball team in the breaks and after practice, if he didn´t spend time with Eleanor, what he did mostly, even after school. And Theodore was object or interest, too. Since the kids in school knows that his date for the ball was Juanita, some boys were insult, but no one makes him trouble. He gets more respect of the guys and some girls spreaded the rumor that he must be a real charmer, of course the pretty girl from New Mexico starts dating him. Indeed she spends time with Theodore beside the school, when she wasn´t practicing with the cheerleaders. And even their she was very successful. She and Theodore get along very well. On tuesday they cooking together mexican food at the Sevilles house. Well, they meant it very good with the chili, what the boys and Dave wasn´t familiar with, except of Theodore. It was tasty, but hot. Juanita shrugs. " If it doesn´t make fuego, it´s not good!" Alvin and Simon noticed that the two kidding around while cooking and Juanita messed up their little brother´s hair while she giggles. Alvin smirks at Simon. " I think, there´s something going on!" Simon nodes. " Yes, who should awating this?" After dinner Theodore and Juanita played with Lilly, the dog of the Sevilles. Lilly likes the girl instantly and cuddles with her until her aunt picks her up. Juanita hugs Theodore when she leaves, he waves even the car was out of sight.
Saturday all eight kids spending the whole day at the beach. They enjoyed the sun, kidding around in the water and played volleyball. Brittany noticed that Theodore stares at Juanita again and again, who cuts a fine figur in her bikini. The girls won the match hands down. In the evening they watching tv at the Miller´s house. Brittany cuddles to Alvin. Both noticed that Cody hugs Eleanor softly and Juanita leans herself on Theodores shoulder. Brittany gives her boyfriend a knowing look, he answers with a mischievous grin. Sunday the weather turns badly, it was stormy and rains a lot. So they all hanging out at home.
It was wednesday before the ball, and everywhere you could see the excitement. Who had no date until now, gets nervous. Brittany knows, that Missy already had no date, and she had to admit, that she enjoys that fact. She and Alvin had an eye on it, that her arch enemy stays away from Eleanor and Cody. Theodore probably gets more and more nervous about the dance. He likes Juanita and don´t wants to disappoint her. In his free time he practice his dance moves. Eleanor looks forward to the ball more relaxed, but she was always more sovereign than her counterpart. Even during the basketball practice and at the cheerleaders there was no other topic of conversation. The girls whispering the whole time, the boys teased each other who had the better date. " My dress was really expensive!" " Jake´s dad rent a car, that take us to the ball!" " My date should be the prettiest, i saw her dress, wow!" " Trish goes on a date with me sunday after the ball, jackpot!" Brittany just giggles, than she looks over to Alvin, who dribbles the ball as Paul, one of the other team members, asked him about his date. " What should i say? You know, i go to the ball with Brittany! And i can´t await it, she was so adorable and certainly she wears a staggering dress as always!" Brittany smiles. He didn´t overstate to much, but a little bit boasting she grants him. Of course, she was something special, please! Paul raises respectfully an eyebrow and says nothing more. Cody looks a bit distracted, it seems he was nervous. Brittany knows that her sister looks forward for the ball. Eelanor works the whole time on her dress, she was nearly more fussy than Brittany. She wants to know what Alvin should say about her dress. It resembles her dress of the black-white-ball, but it was more dressy. Well, the closet at home gets to full. In the next time she had to sort out.
On friday the girls took a last look at their dresses. Brittany examines hers for fluffs, Eleanor sits at her sewing machine. She takes her dress byside. " I´m excited how the dance runs. Theodore and Juanita go along well!" Brittany smirks. " Like you and Cody! Or does the thing with Juanita and Eleanor annoys you?" She teases her. Eleanor raises an eyebrow. " No, it doesn´t! but it is a bit strange, i mean, me and Theodore..." Her sister smiles. " I know, you like each other very well! But somehow you two get a crush on someone else! It´s nothing bad, you´re not officially a couple! Enjoy he time with that two, it´s cute!" She gives her sister a warm smile. Eleanor smiles back. " Thank you, that´s sweet of you! Now i feel a bit better! It´s a bit confusing, but beautiful!" She goes on to finish her dress. Brittany takes off some fluffs of hers and examines the embroidery on it. She smiles again, love could be a very complicated thing.
Saturday evening, the day of the valentine-ball. The girls getting ready, as the doorbell rings. Brittany sighs. " Miss Miller! Cann you open up, it takes a moment!" They helped each other to get dressed. Downstairs they heared Alvins voice. " Good evening, Miss Miller! I guess it takes some time?" Even they heard the voices of Simon and Cody too. " Good evening!" " Good evening, Ma am!" " Good evening, gentlemen, you look very neat! And as you know, a young man has to bring some patience with him for a date, was the same when i was that age! Come in!" Heard the girls their guardian say. It rustles downstairs. Jeanette tightens a ribbon at Eleanors dress, than the girls were ready. " Okay, lets go!" Said Brittany. " We´re coming!" They left their room. First Jeanette came down the stairs. She wears blue-purple patterned dress with a pink hair bow and blue flats. Simon, who wears a blue suit, was amazed. Then Brittany swaggers down the stairs. Her pink dress with black applications, embroidery and walking slit, her teased hair, white gloves and black heels let Alvins jaw drop. Her wears a white jacket with black trousers and his cap. Then came Eleanor. She wears a mintgreen dress with white ribbons, ruffles on the sleeves and lace gloves with green flats. Cody wides his eyes. He wears a light blue shirt with a black jacket with black trousers. The boys were totally impressed. Simon starts first. " Jeanette, you look...great!" Alvin clears his throat. " Hi, Brittany! Wow, you look amazing!" She smiles and hugs him. Cody looks through Eleanor. " Hi E- eleanor! This is be-beau-beautiful!" The girls giggles. Then they link their arms with their dates. Miss Miller stood in the door through the living room and smiles. " You look so sweet together. Have fun!" The kids said goodbye and leave the house. Dave would take them to the ball. In the car Juanita and Theodore were waiting. The girl from New Mexico wears the red-black tiered dress, whih she shows the chipettes with matching red flats. Theodore wears a smoking, indeed without a bow tie. He waves with a grin on his face. " Hey, you three look great!" He gives Juanita an apologizing look. " Well, you get the spotlight tonight!" She smiles. " Theodoro, everything´s bueno! The chicas look great! You can say that! WE all look great!" All eight giggled. Dave looks back with a laughter. " I totally agree! Ready?" Eight yes answers him.
The auditorium of the school was crowded. The chipmunks, the chipettes and the Montoyas searching a way through the crowd. They getting some seats on the stands. The four girls whispering, giggled and checked their hair, the boys stepping from one foot to another, very nervous. The girls wanted to dance, in any case. Not that the boys couldn´t, but today something´s in the air. Alvin gies Simon an questioning look. " Well, you got them impression too, that something´s special today?" The blue-cladded chipmunk points his finger towards Theodore and Eleanor. " That both were here with their dates? and that together? In other circumstances it comes to arguments and tears!" He looks at Alvin and then to Brittany. " And with you both something has happened, too! You two take it more serious, especially you!" Alvin nodes. " When we talked on christmas, i realized that i running in circles all the time! What i really want, was right in front of me all the time, and i didn´t see it or i didn´t want to see! My stupid pride stands in my way! And maybe i could lost her forever!" His brother pats him the shoulder to cheer him up. " You learn by your mistakes! We still grow up!" Alvin nodes again and takes a seat next to Brittany. He wraps his arm around her waist. " Our first ball as a couple, that´s something!" She smiles, than she wraps herv arms around him. " Oh yes, this is so beautiful, Alvie!" He gasps surprised, than he just hugs her. As she kissed him on the nose, he blushes. The other six kids looked confused, than one after another starts to grin. Juanita looks to Eleanor. " That´s so sweet! That two, el amor!" The blonde chipette smiles. " They had their problems, but they made up some weeks ago!" The other girl giggles. " Everything regulates itself, chica, all it needs is time! In the end it all get well!" Eleanor smiles again, Juanita was really someone special. And she was pleased for her sister and Alvin. It was constantlye a up and down, a time long both nearly fight over everything and it seems they hate each other. But deep down was a spark of affection all the time, but both won´t to admit it, of course, everyone around could see it. Then the chipmunks and the cipettes were stranded on an island, seemingly an lonely one ( What a luck the hotel where they wanted to go wasn´t far away) and both had for the first time a discussion about their relationship. The rivalry becomes less, they spended more time alone together, even a date ( What didn´t get well). But since they talked again last christmas holidays, they get it. They started dating again and became a couple. Alvin smirks at Brittany, as a slow song began. " Can i invite the lady for a dance?" She giggles and takes his hand. " With pleasure sir!" Both entered the dancefloor and began to made their circles. One after another the others followed, up to Theodore and Juanita. He looks nervously at her. " D-do you want to?" She claps her hands. " Si, Theodoro!" She grabs him by the hand and pulls him on the floor. As they dance she peeks toward her brother. Eleanor leaned her head on and smiled dreamily, Cody smirks a bit embarrassed. When Alvin and Brittany came in sight, Juanita smiles. Both smirks at each other and talked lively. Simon and Jeanette on the other side looked shy at each other. Juanita looked at Theodore, than she leans her head on his shoulder. She just enjoys the dance. And somehow, she likes him.

When the song ends and a fast salsa song starts, Juanita lifts her head and looks toward Theodore. He blushed a bit and smirks. She giggles, than she winks at him. " Vamos, Theodoro! Lets go!" He nodes, than they started. Juanita was impressed, he had practiced and it was successful. He turns her around and followed with the right steps. All eight of them had a lot of fun. As the ball comes to an end, Juanita and Theodore had a break. Alvin and Brittany danced on, holding each other tight. Juanita smiles, the two were so sweet. She takes a sip of her bowle and looks over to her brother, who sits on her left with Eleanor. Both cuddles and looked like they dreaming. Juanita giggles and slides closer to Theodore. He looked a bit confused, when she takes his arm and puts it around her shoulders. " Your dancing is very good, Theodoro! And you are so nice!" He looks embarrassed down on the floor. " Th-thank you, Juanita! And, you a-aare ve-very nice too, and e-even very p-p-pretty!" She giggles joyful and kisses him on his cheek. " Muchas gracias, Theodoro!" She smiles and pinches him softly in the cheek. He blushes more and smirks embarrassed again. Juanita strokes a strand of hair from her face. " You are a special person, Theodoro! With you it´s beautiful and funny!" Than they watched again Alvin and Brittany dancing while many of the other schoolmates leave the ball. When Dave picks them up later, Juanita didn´t let go Theodores hand on the way home. As her look meets that of Brittany, the oldest of the chipettes gives her a warmly smile and winks. Than she leans on Alvin again.
One week later it was time for Juanita and Cody to leave. All eight stood before the house of uncle Peter, who was waiting in his car. Eleanor hugs Cody, while she snivels. " Goodbye, i will miss you!" He gives her a sad look. " I write you, and i don´t forget you!" She kisses him on the cheek. Juanita hugs Theodore. " You will always have a place in my heart, Theodoro! And we have to write, promise?" He gulps. " It was nice to meet you! And we write, i promise!" She kissed him on the cheek, too, what makes him blush. Everyone giggles and smirks. Then the siblings enters the car. When their uncle starts to drive, everyone waves until the car was out of sight. Brittany looks over to Eleanor and notices, that her sister cries now. As she wanted to go over to her, someone was faster. To her surprise it was Theodore. He takes Eleanor in his arms. She looked up and smiled, what he replies with a snivel. " Everything´s allright! I´m here!" He looks the way the car leaves. " You know, at first i was disappointed and sad, but now i know how it felt for you!" She looks at him, then she laughs. " That guys got us, what?" She hugs him. " Thanks for beeing there for me!" He blinks. " I was there for you efore and i should be all the time!" He looks around. " Wanna go home? Eleanor, you can hold on me if you want to!" She nodes while she wipes her eyes. " Yes, of course! Thank you, Theodore!" They linked arms, than they all walked toward home. Alvin holds Brittanys hand, when she leans over to him and whispers: " Both get close together again, right?" He nodes. " Everything comes as it has to, like us!" Both grinned. She kissed him on the nose again. He starts to tickle her on her side, she laughs. " ALVIN!"
