First off before we start the chapter, I'd like to thank everyone for the instant support everyone sent in, and the interest everyone took in the story! Again, if anyone has any questions I'm more than happy to answer them, so don't be shy and ask away!

The deadline for submissions is still quite a ways away, but my co-authors and I thought it might be cool to go ahead and introduce one other cool aspect about this story we've got planned! While it may not be unique, it still adds a bit of flair to the story, so I hope you're all excited to meet our other Protagonist, along with a message from the creator of our secondary protagonist. Marioguy! Also, the other writers involved in this project will be helping with character writing, planning plot points, and just giving everything in the story a second look to make sure it looks nice! Meet Mars, Cheshire, and Jay!

"Yo-yo yo what the frick is up my epic gamers it's your boy Mario guy the funny awesome Mario man. I sure do be here as a person who is doing this thing. That's pretty awesome and cool! Heck yeah. Anyways enjoy this very cool and epic-a-freaking stuff here that you're going to enjoy or your money back guaranteed!" - Marioguy 2027

"Heya, readers! It's me. Mars. I'm just out here, hoping you enjoy this project! Feel free to give us feedback on this story if you feel any particular way!" - Mars

"Hello, readers. My name is Cheshire, and I have not the vaguest idea what I'm doing, but goddammit I'm going to give it my best anyway because this bad boy needs to get itself going. Never forget that they did surgery on a grape."- Cheshire

As you can see, along with myself, your characters are absolutely in the best of hands here at Escape Parameters. Marioguy is only one of the multiple co-authors helping me out, a few others aren't going to be as prevalent as him, and won't be sending in characters, but they're there all the same! I hope you're all ready to see what a team of authors, with chaotic views can do for a unique story like this one!

And one more announcement, we will be adding two extra characters to the roster, now that we've given the story more thought! With characters able to escape through Parameters, people will be leaving the story through ways other than death, and that will cause our cast to dwindle faster than a normal story! Two extra characters added to the cast helps the story continue for as long as we need it to, and also gives us a chance to add another character or two from the writers in, without taking up reader character slots!

So without further adieu, let's meet our second protagonist!

When you're looking to get some rest during a long trip, normally the first thing you look for is comfort in any way, shape, or form. It's only natural that when you're trying to get to sleep and will be staying in a singular place for a long period of time, that you'll want to be sitting in a position that isn't painful so you can get actually get some meaningful rest.

However, that is far from the position that Ichiban Akiyama finds himself in, on his trip to the HPCF. The low growl of the engine, along with the rhythmic vibrations of the admittedly uncomfortable bus, wasn't easy to fall asleep to, but somehow he'd managed to do it. Although one might find it hard to call that an accomplishment, when he, along with the nice, scary-looking bus driver, had been driving nonstop for almost the past fifteen hours. Honestly, it'd be an accomplishment in itself if he didn't fall asleep at some point in his journey.

During the first few hours of the trip, he'd made friends with the Bus Driver, a kind German man with an eyepatch over his right eye. At first, the man seemed reluctant to speak to him, but after an hour or so bugging him, he relented and began to talk. It didn't take long for them to spend hours upon hours of their trip talking about whatever came to mind.

"Hey Ichiban... are you sure you want to come here? I mean your crime wasn't even that bad to begin with, I'm sure whatever sentence you'd have gotten for it would be lenient, considering the amount of help you provided. You don't need to come here, I'm sure after your sentence, Hope's Peak would gladly allow you to enter their course. After all, they're only doing this to help with their reputation, you know that right? It's not like they care about your crime, they just want the public to know that they're doing something with the malcontent amongst their alumni." The man driving the bus, gives a quick sideways glance towards him, a concerned frown covering his expression

It seems the man had seen him wake through the rearview mirror.

Ichiban reaches up to rub a hand through his big mass of fluffy hair, fighting back a headache with a grimace. "Sigmund, buddy... I get that this whole thing is going to be pretty intensive, and you're just trying to help... But I need the protection." His thoughts move back to what might happen if he'd refused the offer, causing him to shudder in his seat. " If I didn't take this offer, I'd still be in my house, fretting about my life being in danger, and I'd basically be wasting my life away hiding. Look, if it helps you any, I may not look it, but I can handle myself! I'm a black belt y'know! A hero never falters, and neither do I! Just think of this as a..." He reaches into his mind to grab the right words to convince his newfound friend. "an extended and harsh Witness Protection Program! Once I'm out, I'll just move into Hope's Peak and they'll keep me safe from there!"

The burly man glances back like he's not convinced... but leaves the topic alone. "Alright, just know once you're in there, I'll do what I can to help you get through. You're a good kid, and I don't want you getting hurt during all of this training."

The response brought pause to Ichiban for a second, but logic and reason won out over his paranoia. Hope's Peak is a well-respected organization, dedicated to moving the world forward as a whole. Who is he, to doubt such a place? He's just a kid who got lucky with a few rather unique fan projects a few years back and happened to stumble across and topple a government conspiracy. Isn't that just a normal Tuesday for people at Hope's Peak?

"I appreciate it man, but I think I got it. Although should I pull a muscle or get hurt during all of this, I'll call ya up. After all, I doubt I could find a better surgeon to fix me up if I tried." He shoots the german man with double finger guns and a smile.

A moment of silence falls over the bus, the hum of the engine gradually lowering as the bus slows down. Ichiban can just vaguely see Sigmund's hands gripping onto the wheel so tight they've turned white when he speaks up. "Thank you kid, I appreciate it... Anyways, it seems like you have perfect timing, because, we're here. Welcome to the HPCF, your home for the next month. You're late to the party, so why don't you step out and go mingle with the others that got here before you. I'll see you later."

Blinking the sleep away, Ichiban grabs his backpack full of clothes and walks out of the safety of the bus out into the facility.

Immediately, at a glance, he almost can't tell the difference between the facility and a boot camp you'd see in army movies. The ground outside is a grayish brown, dirt that's been packed down from constant traffic over top. Several buildings come into view as he steps away from the bus, catching his attention almost immediately. They're all bare bones, and the same size and half cylinder shape, with only small designs on the outside above the door to differentiate them. In the center of the facility, there appears to be a courtyard, marked in a rectangle by white paint, with eighteen circles in the center, and light poles with spotlights attached to them at its four corners. Along the far wall, there are several wooden cabins, six in total, with different colored flags hanging from the exterior. And... how did he miss that?!

There's a large stone wall surrounding the entire facility in a square almost 20 feet tall, with guard towers at each corner of the wall. Despite his horrible eyesight, he can vaguely see an armed guard patrolling around the catwalk of one of the towers. Seeing the assault rifle causes him to step back in shock. "Why... why do they need-"

Before he can even finish his sentence, the engine of the bus starting up rips him out of his thoughts as it turns on and drives his companion away. "Oh... Well..."

Feeling the questions die on his lips, he decides to just accept it. After all, everyone here is a high-priority target! They may be considered delinquent 'Future Ultimates', and have no immediate relevance to Hope's Peak, but they're all highly talented individuals. Some of them are very important people, it'd be a disaster if someone came here looking to kidnap everyone for ransom! Right! That must be why the guards are here, for their protection.

Pushing down the feeling of sudden regret, Ichiban looks off to the courtyard, walking forward cautiously... he doesn't really know what he should be doing, so he just moves to the first group of indistinguishable blobs that look sort of like people that he sees.

Maybe they'll know what he should do, they all arrived here one day earlier than he did after all!

As he gets closer, words begin to form, and he starts to hear the beginnings of a conversation. He can make out three shapes, two of them standing in the center of the courtyard looking on at the third over by one of the light poles. Two of the voices are distinctly feminine, one with a bit of a southern drawl, the other more refined and deep, with a tinge of ever-present amusement. The third is male, excitable, a bit higher-pitched, and ready to go.

"Come on, there's absolutely no way you can climb that thing, it's so big! You wouldn't be able to wrap your arms around it, much less start climbing it. If you were bigger and stronger, with longer arms, I could see it, but as far as I can see, it seems impossible for someone like you." The first person he sees talk looks rather… unique. The girl with the refined voice brings her gloved hand up to her lips in amusement as she looks on at the scene.

The first thing anyone would notice about her is her outfit, it's certainly the most striking part of her appearance. She's wearing a Red and Black Bouffant style dress, with white frills at the bottom. The entire dress is red, aside from a black waist-high stripe and red diamond pins with gold laces crisscrossing over her stomach. A red heart necklace, with golden chains, lays around her neck, black almost see-through lace with a black club design lines her legs, red high heels with a flower on them, and finally, a black spade hairpin is pinned almost invisible in her hair. Speaking of her hair, it is short, choppy, and black with red tips. Finally, she has pale skin, a lithe build, with blue eyes to finish off the look on the very short woman in front of him.

"OH YEAH!? I'll prove it! This light pole is nothing, I'll race up it so fast, it'll make your head spin, just you watch!" The guy, off to the side by the light pole by comparison wasn't wearing anything nearly as complex but seemed just as gaudy.

The man seems to be rather well built, sporting short blonde, crew-cut hair, bushy eyebrows, a nice short goatee, a jagged scar above his piercing blue eyes, and somewhat of a babyface. He's decked out in racing apparel, a pit t-shirt, blue jeans, red driving shoes, and a jacket, all of which is covered head to toe with sponsorship deals and logos. On top of his head, almost covering his crew cut is a red baseball hat with the number '95' emblazoned on the front of it. He's got a light tan, around average height, and a solid strong build, making him fill out his clothes rather well!

"Hold on… why are we doing this again? I wasn't paying attention… Why do you have your arms around that? That's dumb, if you lose your balance or grip that can easily result in extreme injury or death. You should stop before you get hurt." The final person to speak is a rather spacey-looking girl, her eyes a little unfocused as she speaks to the two people with her.

The spacey-looking girl has a rather muscular build, but that's not what'll immediately grab your attention. Her hand is replaced with a prosthetic. Her right hand specifically being a two-pronged hook rather than a normal hand. She's got shoulder-length, wavy, windswept, platinum blond hair that comes down and covers one of her two brown eyes. Burn marks cover her right arm, standing out harshly against her pale white skin. She wears a light, pastel yellow blouse with short sleeves, long blue jeans, normal pink tennis shoes with white laces and soles, and a silver necklace with a blue teardrop pendant. Compared to the other two she stands just barely above them in height.

"You doubt me too Holly? I'll make you eat those words, watch and be amazed as I… Oi, who's that? I don't think I've seen him before." The blond-haired man is the first in the group to notice his approach.

'Alright, Ichiban! You got this! These people are Ultimates like you, and friends in the making, all you have to do is say hi! It's as easy as that!'

With that mental pep talk, he steps forward shooting the others a friendly grin and a wave. "Hey! I just arrived a few seconds ago, and I honestly have no idea what's going on here! I was told to mingle, so here I am... mingling! Could you please fill me in on what exactly is going on? I thought this place would be a lot more strict from what I was hearing on my way over here."

The lady in the red dress raises an eyebrow, stepping forward. "I was under that impression as well, but since we all arrived here the other day, we have received little to no instruction. All we were told were our sleeping arrangements for our time here. However, I do think that'll change soon."

"Whaaaaat! How can you say that? It's not like they've told us anything, why do you think they'll start soon? Who's to say that they're going to show up at all?" Mr. Advertisement calls out from the light pole, his arms already wrapped around it.

The red dress lady shakes her head, with a sigh. "There are six cabins, each cabin has three beds, and he's the eighteenth person to arrive. It's honestly quite amazing what you can surmise about a situation if you think about it for longer than a few seconds~" While her words are sharp and scathing, her voice is anything but; she sounds teasing more than anything else.

"Ohhh… that makes sense… Hey Afro Guy." The blonde girl's voice is lower-pitched and breathy, she talks slowly as she looks Ichiban down. "Could you introduce yourself? And say your name a few times so I can remember it please…"

Oh! That's right, he should probably do that!

Alright, it's time to describe Ichiban! Ichiban is a tall man, with a seemingly muscular build, you can barely see through the outline of his t-shirt and hoodie. He's got a navy blue t-shirt with the picture of the head of a bear DJ, with orange sunglasses, and earphones. He wears an orange hoodie, with light orange accents, black sweatpants, and gray sneakers. A light gray cassette player hangs from his hip, alongside the gray backpack, hanging from his back. He wears a pair of square-rimmed glasses, that cover his dark blue eyes, and are just barely below the brownish, bubbly, fluffy, afro on top of his head, with three little yet apparent tufts sticking out the top.

He stands in front of everyone, with a friendly smile, holding out a thumbs up, as he speaks up. "I'll introduce myself as long as you folks promise to do the same! It's only fair that we exchange names right? After all, we'll be living with each other for the next month! It'd be strange if I just called you all by the nicknames I've come up with for you in my head, now wouldn't it!"

The fancy lady raises an eyebrow, an amused chuckle escaping her lips. "Oh? Nickname? And what might your nickname for me be?"

"Fancy Lady!"

"Oh… I should have guessed."

Flinching, he rubs the back of his neck, did he say something wrong? Uh… anyways! Time to introduce himself!

"Hello! My name is Ichiban Akiyama, and I'm the Future Ultimate Video Editor! But you can just call me Ichiban; it'd be weird if you called me by both my names, now wouldn't it? I guess I can't stop you if you do though! I hope we get along. Also… Ichiban Akiyama, Ichiban Akiyama, Ichiban Akiyama. Did I say that enough times? I can keep going if you need me to!"

Ichiban Akiyama

Future Ultimate Video Editor

Fancy Lady, or so he's dubbed her, gives him a look… "Wow, that was… quite the introduction. I take it you're a people pleaser huh?"

"A people pleaser? I mean… I hope I please people! It'd be pretty darn cruddy if I found out I made people feel worse!" He chuckled a bit before his laughter died down and he looked at her with a bit more of a concerned expression. "...I didn't make you feel worse, did I?"

She giggles at the question, it seems she's amused like usual. "Why yes you did, honestly I may look fancy, but I assure you, that's not all there is to me! To sum me up in just a few words like that, feels a bit demeaning wouldn't you say?" Her voice sounds a bit teasing, but honestly, it's hard to tell if she is or not…

Ichiban's eyes widened a bit with a frown, as he quickly bowed his head in apology. "Oh no, oh gosh! I'm so super duper sorry, that really wasn't my intention I promise! I just… I mean, well, I had to come up with a name and I only saw you for about sixteen seconds so I didn't know what else to go with…" He looked back up, the pained expression still on his face. "But I take it back, you're not fancy I promise! Not at all! Please don't get mad…"

The girl frowns, tilting her head, lip quivering. She looks like she's upset, as she brings her hand up to her eyes to wipe away unshed, fake, tears. "I'm not fancy? I mean I said that it's not all there is to me, but I like to think that I look nice. Is that not true?"

Ichiban's eyes widened again, as beads of sweat started to form on his forehead. "S-shoot, no! I mean, yes! I mean, um… no to the not true, it is true! Double negative! I-I thought you didn't like being called fancy and I didn't wanna lose my first potential friend already, I mean that'd be a new record for me, and I-"

The blonde-haired girl, who has been observing from the sideline decides to speak up… her eyes staring at him intently as though she's processing the information of the conversation. "Don't worry about what she says, I've known her for a day, and she likes to tease and prod almost always. She's doing that with you right now… I thought I'd tell you because you were nice and acquiesced to my request. Thanks for that by the way! As for my name…"

"I already introduced myself earlier, but I think that was before you arrived. My name is Holly Hidaka, and my Ultimate? I think they call me the Future Ultimate Acrobat, or at least that's the title I was given when I got the letter. It's what I'm good at, at least."

Holly Hidaka

Future Ultimate Acrobat

Holly brings her normal hand up, for a handshake, a small smile gracing her lips. "It's nice to meet you… And please don't worry too much about her, as far as I can tell she doesn't mean most of what she says… Well, she does, and she doesn't. It's hard to tell."

Ichiban seemed to be very easily… distractible. He'd already totally forgotten about being in the trenches of grief, looking at her with a bright smile and shaking her hand happily. "Woah, you're an acrobat!? That's so cool! You're like, halfway to becoming a superhero!"

"Yeah, she's really cool! I asked her to do a flip earlier, and she totally did one! I raced to see if I could do the same, and honestly, it's a lot harder than you'd think!" Ichiban looks around confused, where did that voice come from? It's the guy from earlier, but he's just gone… wait… his eyes trail up the light pole.

Halfway up the pole, is Mr. Advertisement. Ichiban can't help but speak up to try and get the guy's attention. "Hey! Mr. Advertisement! Holly was right, you probably shouldn't be doing that without any safeguards! You could seriously get hurt or injured!"

"Mr. Advertisement?" Ichiban freezes as the guy seems to stop in a place where he is up close to the top. "Yeah, that sounds about right for a nickname! And don't worry! After all, I'm actually really good at whatever I do! Climbing may not be my strongest suit, but it's definitely something I can do! I'm really strong, so I can get up this pole in a cinch!"

It doesn't take long for him to reach the top, where he pulls himself up, sitting at the top with a cheeky grin. "Oh! Right, you asked for my name!" His voice is a bit harder to hear all the way up at the top, but he's yelling so it evens out. "Well, I'll give you my name!"

"The name's Maxie Overdrive! Or that's what my fans call me when I'm out on the track! Anything from Nascar, to Monster Trucks, to Drifting events, and Kart Racing, I've done it all! Although if you need to know my full name it's Maurice Maxie, the Future Ultimate Motorist!"

Maurice Maxie 'Overdrive'

Future Ultimate Motorist

The fancy lady comes back into Ichiban's line of sight, with a whistle. "Wow, you actually got up there! Color me surprised! Good job, you proved me wrong!" With that out of the way, she turns to look at Ichiban, with a small smile.

"I apologize for messing with you earlier, but honestly I couldn't help myself, you seemed so earnest, that it almost felt like you were calling me out to tease you." Fancy… wait… Red Dress… no… Red lady… uh… Teasing lady! The teasing lady grabs a hold of the edges of her dress, in a curtsy. "I feel as if I should introduce myself to you as an apology, after all, that is what you asked for is it not?"

Standing back, Ichiban lets out an incredulous laugh, so Holly was right! She was messing with him! Now that, that's confirmed, the relief melts away the worry that was stacked on his shoulders from the meeting. With a good-natured laugh, he waves her direction dismissively. "I did ask that, but there's no need for an apology! I should've understood you were teasing! That's my bad! Anyways, if you'd tell me your name, I'd really appreciate it!"

Teasing lady comes up from her curtsy with her lips in the shape of an 'o'. "Oh, so I don't need to apologize? Well alright then! I mean I was going to introduce myself as an apology, but I guess since I don't need to, I won't~ I mean it'd be weird to do something as an apology when there's no need for one, right?"

"I well… I guess that would make sense, you did say that you would do it like-" With a slouch, and a dejected tone, Ichiban pushes his fingers together in disappointment. It makes sense, after all, she did say that it was supposed to be an apology. Maybe giving out her name isn't something she's supposed to do, farbeit for him to force her to do so when she shouldn't have to.

The lady can't help but giggle at his response. "Dear, stop… I was teasing you again, you need to learn to understand that, or you're going to have a lot of trouble here. Everyone is a criminal in some way, shape, or form after all. They'll take advantage of you if you don't learn to stand up for yourself." Her dulcet voice comes out in a chuckle, as she brings her finger to her lips. "Anyways, where was I… Oh yes, my name."

"Well I guess if you must know my name is Suyin Xu, and I'm the Future Ultimate Croupier… From that blank expression on your face, I'm going to assume you don't know what that is. Basically, I'm a professional card dealer at casinos, I've hosted some of the biggest card dealing tournaments in the world. Behind every amazing game of cards, is an equally amazing dealer after all~"

Suyin Xu

Future Ultimate Croupier

"Wow, you were right, I had absolutely zero ideas what a Croupier was? Is that German, I met a german guy on the bus ride over here! I should ask him about when I see him next!" Bringing his hand to his chin, Ichiban begins to think about Sigmund again before snapping out of it. "Oh! But cards are really super cool! I've got cards too! Of the Aqua Scouts mostly! But I'm pretty sure I have a regular set of cards somewhere in my attic!"

Suyin looks like she can't help it when she giggles. "Actually, Croupier is a French word. Well, that's a first, I don't think anyone has ever offered or told me about their own set of cards before, after my introduction. While you might catch some other croupier, talking about the meaning of cards and how they symbolize things, but honestly that's all a load of bull. While I may like their design, cards aren't really anything other than that, cards."

"Wow! You can talk about cards for a long time, that's impressive! I run out of things to talk about when I talk about cards in like fifteen seconds! I'm a bit of a card dealer myself, after all, I got a bunch of my collectible cards at a deal, almost half off!"

She blinks owlishly… "Anyways… You seem really earnest, I don't think that's a good choice here. But you do you after all. If you just got here, that means you probably haven't met the others. You should probably go fix that before the people in charge come and get this all started. It's best to meet people in a controlled space, instead of meeting them all at once, wouldn't you agree?"

"Being earnest isn't really that bad a thing, after all, I'm sure everyone here is actually good! I mean they're all here to get better right? That's what we're here for! And being a criminal isn't necessarily a bad thing, it doesn't make you a bad person, you just made a bad decision that's all! Everyone makes mistakes after all, especially in the heat of the moment!" With a grin, he gives Suyin a thumbs up, with a smile that's almost too bright to look at.

That elicits a giggle from the Croupier. "Well if that's what you think, I won't stop you, just know I tried to warn you."

"And I appreciate that you're looking out for me! I knew you weren't bad!"

There's a small pause as she stares at him… almost like she's studying him. "Hey, how about I come with you, and introduce you to everyone else. You might not be able to find them in time, and we wouldn't want that would we?"

He pumps his fist in excitement. "That's a great idea! I don't think I could've done it myself, so thank you for offering to help! I guess that makes sense because of all the cool deals you get, you must be smart to save that much money to get a talent for it! I wonder why they didn't call you the Future Ultimate Couponer!"

"God…" Suyin mumbles under her breath. "Alright yeah, let's go. I'll talk to you later Holly, maybe try and help Maxie get down from there, he's probably going to be stuck for a while."

"Huh?" Holly looks at Suyin, and then up at Maxie, and sighs. "Yeah, alright… I'll see you later Suyin, let me go get him down."

As they walk away, Suyin with a confident stroll, and Ichiban following diligently behind her with a bounce in his step, they hear the vague sound of Maxie complaining, as Holly tries to soothe him as he panics, suddenly realizing that yes… he didn't know how to get down.

TheRoseShadow21- Thank you! I've had this idea floating around in my head for quite a while, and honestly, I'm just glad that I finally have the writing skill to bring it to life, along with the friends to help hone the story to look the best it can!

Rio A - Thank you! The team and I really appreciate it! I look forward to seeing your app in the future!

Marioguy28 - Yes it will indeed be a 'Funny Moment'

Alright! There's the first official full chapter of the story! While the previous one might count in a few people's eyes, I saw it as more a proof of concept than anything else! I hope you enjoy the contrast between our two main characters! After all we'll be seeing a lot of them throughout this story!

Also, again thank you all so much for the outpouring of support you've all immediately shown us at the stories release! We've not even had the story out for a few weeks and we've already received a lot of amazing characters! Like Holly and Maurice here! I hope I'm doing right by them, and portraying them as the original authors intended! If i'm not please send me a dm and we'll talk it out personally there, and ill clarify things and fix any problems i made while writing this chapter!

I'd also like to mention that if your character isn't shown on the 'Cast Chosen' list right this moment, that doesn't mean your character didn't make it in. Until that last is full, if you submitted a character, there's a chance they'll show up in this story! And reminder, if i don't choose your character don't let that discourage you! I've gotten a lot of amazing apps already, and there's no way i can include then all! If you're not chosen it might be because of a slight nitpick i had with something in the story, or something as simple and hard to predict as cast balancing! So don't be discouraged!

And while we may or may not be doing art for the entire cast, we do have art for both of our MCs! I'll be posting pictures on my profile sometime in the next few hours!

I hope you enjoy them!

For now that's all! i hope you all have a great week!
