Hey everybird! What's up!?
Hope you're enjoying the story so far, but before we do, I got something to ask…
I been missing making stories involving Alex, Lisa, and my other OCs, and I would like to one day make a new story with them. And well… Would that be something you're all interested as well? If not, than that's okay too, but I would like to tell if there is interest first.
Anyway, until than, lets continue on with this story!
Chapter 3: Second Chance
Eduardo continued on with his life as normal, except for the fact that of course he was being trained to one day take his father's place, speaking of which, he tried to act normal and listen to his father's every word. However it was hard with his mind constantly thinking of Sapphire and if he would get a chance to talk to her again, not that he would in the first place, the girl made it pretty clear she had no interest in him.
Of course he did see Sapphire whenever she happen to be flying near enough to him, but Eduardo, when he saw her, quickly just turned his look away, not wanting to be caught staring. The days turned into weeks as Eduardo carried on with his daily life and leader training, but his father did notice the teenager was slacking a little, however letting it go thinking it was just the pressure.
As another lesson of the day ended for Eduardo, he decided to go see his mother, who often helped in the healer's hollow. The teenager finding his mother there as she smiled upon seeing her son.
"Hey Eddie, I take it you're done with your father?" Eduardo's mother asked. "How did it go?"
"Oh, the usual…" Eduardo sighed. "Can I actually talk to you mom?" Eduardo politely requested.
"Sure, just let me finish up here and I'll be out." The female macaw replied as Eduardo stepped outside, taking in the fresh air and patiently waited for his mother to come out and in a few minutes she did, eager to know what was on her son's mind. "So, what is it son?"
"Mom, I have to admit something…" Eduardo worried for how his mother would react. "I been spying on Sapphire with her friends by the waterfall, until she caught me and told me she doesn't want to talk to me ever again. I know it's wrong, but I just don't know what to say to her…"
"You could have just started by saying "Hello"." Eduardo's mother chuckled as she wasn't upset, surprising Eduardo.
"You're not mad?" Eduardo raising an eye. "But I thought you would find it so wrong I was looking at girls from a hiding spot."
"Son, you're still a young boy and well most boys like you do that, like your father, been checking me out before he got the courage to come up to me and actually talk to me." Eduardo's mother said. "You have no idea…"
"Okay, but I feel like it's still too late, no offense mom, but you weren't there when she spoke to me." Eduardo pointed out.
"Give it time son, don't rush it, but also don't wait too long or else someone else might get her." Eduardo's mother advised. "And next time will be better, you'll see."
Eduardo doubted very much that Sapphire would see someone else, she seemed like the kind of girl who played hard to get, which of course she was. However Eduardo believed his mother's words, after all, mothers always know their children best, sometimes even better than the kids' themselves. And luckily, Eduardo will get his chance sooner than he thought…
The next day came and after his usual morning with his father, Eduardo flew by himself to one of the Brazil nut trees, eating some lunch to fill up his energy from the morning's work. As Eduardo was eating, he heard a familiar voice and looked around to find where it was coming from, his eyes falling upon Sapphire, alone, with three teenage boys advancing upon her as the four were on a branch of a nearby tree.
"Come on baby girl, why do you have to be so difficult, just go out with me." The leader of the trio of boys smoothly demanded.
"No thanks Mateo, I know how you and your friends are, you best just give up and leave me alone." Sapphire replied as Eduardo didn't like where this was going with Sapphire backing up and running out of room as the boys kept on steadily advancing on her.
"Don't you want a strong, handsome boy with you, someone who's popular?" Mateo tried to persuade the stubborn girl to go out with him as he came too close for Sapphire's personal space as he forcibly grabbed onto her wing with his'.
"I said no!" Sapphire shouted as she pulled back her held wing while using her other to slap Mateo right in the face as hard as she could, shocking Eduardo.
"Wow, she really is that tough…" Eduardo thought as he figured it would be over, but it was only getting started as Mateo didn't seem to take the very clear hint…
"Okay that's it!" Mateo said angrily as now with both wings he grabbed onto Sapphire's sides, not letting her escape at all as his friends came to help Mateo as Sapphire struggled to get out from the grip the boy had on her. "You're going to go out with me whether or not you like…" Mateo started, but at that point Eduardo knew he had to fly in.
And Eduardo wasn't thinking of his crush on Sapphire, he was just going to intervene to prevent her from getting hurt and forced to do something against her will.
"Hey, let her go!" Eduardo shouted as Mateo did let go, Eduardo getting in between Sapphire and the boys.
"I thought for a second it was our tribe leader, but turns out it's only his son…" Mateo chuckled as Eduardo and his dad did share a similar voice. "You best stay out of this if you know what's good for you." Mateo warned Eduardo.
"No, you better leave." Eduardo sternly declared.
"It's only you against the three of us…" Mateo stating the obvious.
"Mateo, maybe this isn't such a good idea… If we hurt him, the tribe leader is going to punish us…" One of Mateo's friends pointed out.
"Yeah, I'm not ready to face our tribe leader's anger…" The other boy agreed.
"What's the matter with you two?" Mateo angry at his "friends" for not listening to him.
"They're seeing reason and choosing to not listen to their "leader's" bad decision." Eduardo told Mateo. "Now leave."
"Fine…" Mateo spoke, to the relief of Eduardo, but that quickly changed. "If your lackeys can't do the job, you have to do it yourself…" Mateo choosing the bad decision as he chose to fight Eduardo over Sapphire, but well… Eduardo's leadership training also included how to fight too, just in case…
As Mateo began to deliver a punch with his wing, Eduardo simply dodged it before grabbing hold of Mateo's outstretched wing and twisting it behind his back, causing great pain to Mateo as Eduardo held the bad boy still, refusing to let go until he submitted.
"Bad choice…" Eduardo told Mateo as he let this continue, Mateo's "friends" still not willing to intervene as Eduardo took this as a sign he won as he let go of Mateo, pushing him froward to his "friends" as they caught him. "You two want a go?" Eduardo dared as Mateo's two other "friends" both looked at each other before looking back at Eduardo and shaking their heads "No". "Good, now get out of here before I consider telling my father about this."
"This isn't over…" Mateo warned. "Leader or not, I'm going to claim her one day…" Mateo said as he shook off the grip of his "friends" and then flew off, followed by the other two as Eduardo watched them go before looking back to see if Sapphire was hurt.
"Are you okay?" Eduardo asked sincerely as Sapphire cleared her throat.
"I'm okay…" Sapphire replied. "Thank you by the way."
"You're welcome…" Eduardo nervously said back as now was good of a time to try again… "Listen, I know I didn't make a very good first impression, I was just too scared to talk to you, let alone know what to say… Is there any chance you, I don't know… Maybe want to go out?"
Sapphire could tell Eduardo was being honest and really meant it, plus if it wasn't for him, she would be in a worse condition right now.
"I guess I owe you for helping me." Sapphire figured. "Okay, I'll give you a chance, see me tonight by the waterfall, don't be late."
"I won't." Eduardo smiled as he was thankful Sapphire was giving him a second chance. "I'll see you than."
And Sapphire flew off to go prepare as Eduardo still stayed where he was for the moment, couldn't believe how easily his second chance came and well… He was going to make sure it was going to be worth it as he knew things were just getting started.
And I'll leave it here for next time! Also don't forget to let me know how you feel about seeing my OCs again!
Until than…
See everybird later!
