"What? I was gonna… I was gonna bring one to you."
"No, you weren't."
"No, I wasn't."
Once they were all back from their respectives calls, Herrera found her husband in the locker room. "Hey! I saved you a malasada." She greeted him, handing the extra pastry she had picked before from Emmet's peace offering box. "Oh, thank you." He said, taking it and placing it in his locker, which he had opened to take a pair of sweatpants and a shirt. "You're going to eat that, aren't you? Because otherwise, I'm going to have to claim it back." She said funnily, after following the sweet item with her eyes. "Yeah, I am. Not now, though. But if you want it that bad, you can keep it." Sullivan offered, amused. "No, I'm fine. But, just in case, don't leave it at Warren's sight." She advised him, awkwardly. "Do I want to know why?" The probie asked with a raised eyebrow, curious about the whole pastry mystery. "I left him the worst one." Robert didn't want to mock at her confession without hearing the rest, so he gave her a questioning look. "Apple" The lieutenant cleared and he just couldn't avoid laughing anymore. "Ouch, poor guy." He teased and Andy hit his arm playfully. "I was saving that one for you." She defended herself, with her best innocent look. "Ok. That was so kind of you." He replied gratefully, but still chuckling a little.
"I'm going to the gym. Do you want to join me?" He continued, once he considered he'd had enough entertainment at his wife's expense. Without even thinking about it for a second, she refused, shaking her head in a way that didn't leave him any doubt of how little she had liked the offer. "Oh, please no. I'm exhausted from reviving a walk-in."
"Really? What happened?"
"We were two minutes away from the station, when Warren, precisely, called us to help them with a woman in labor. The dad went into cardiac arrest just when we arrived." As she was explaining the events from the day, she couldn't help but keep peeking at the malasada. "Wow. That's...wow."
"Yup. We saved him though." She continued. "Thank god. That would've been…" He answered, not finding the right words.
"Yeah… Anyway, how was your call?" The sudden change of subject didn't go unnoticed by Sullivan, and neither did her occasional glances to the set aside pastry, but he didn't mention it yet. "It was pretty weird, actually. We fought a fire on ice."
"You what?"
"The ice resurfacer of an ice rink burned and it was still moving, so we had to chase it on ice skates." He shared a few more details, before he stopped at the umpteenth time he caught her peeping at the malasada. "Ok, keep that thing." He said in a humorous way, taking it from the locker and giving it to her. "I'm going to change." As he walked away, he heard her happily opening the bag and talking with her mouth full.
"Love you!"
PS: I have no idea what they were eating. Sorry ;P
