Chapter three:

Misa paces in her current hotel room for while she stays here. Her hand is on her chin as she tries to figure out how she could get Ls attention. She knows that he is currently trying to hunt down Kira, she trusts the person who gave her the information. So maybe she could try throwing herself into the case. She could make some sort of move that could catch the attention of those on the case.

And maybe even catch the attention of L himself.

Misa already has an idea that is coming up in her head. She could get the attention of L and the team by getting the attention of Kira. She could pretend to be on Kira's side. She would pretend to know things and see if she can get into contact with said Kira. She'll act as if she is a second Kira. She hurries to gather some supplies knowing just how she is going to do this. She just hopes that this will end up working.

That next day…

Light is sitting in the living room with his sister as the news is playing. His parents are right now at the hospital since his father had to go there for medical help. So he turned on the news as mainly just some background noise and to check on the reports there. He is leaning back a little bored since the news has some deaths that he had caused, and other stuff that doesn't interest him. He does end up hearing of a death of a prisoner that he didn't do which brings his full attention to the news.

It is another heart attack though of an older gentleman so Light starts to think that maybe it was just a coincidence.

"And in other breaking news this TV station has been sent a mysterious tape that is said to have been sent in by Kira. We will now play it for everyone watching." The TV host explains as Light slightly sits up at hearing this.

An image flashes onto the screen of KIRA in black letters with a white background takes up the screen.

"Greetings Japan and anyone else who is listening. I am Kira." The message begins with a distorted voice being spoken clearly. "I have some news that I am sure you are all interested in. I would like to announce that I have done something that you have heard earlier if this is played when I have requested that it is. So you do know that it is me. I would like to announce to those listening to not doubt Kira. That Kira is not evil." The message continues as Light listens closely to it while trying to appear only slightly interested in this. "Kira strives to take down those who are truly evil. Kira will save the world from the darkness that it has been thrown into."

Light wonders who has sent this in then he blinks as he really thinks about it. He remembers the death that he didn't cause and realizes that it is very likely that there is another death note out there.

"This is scary." Sayu mentions shifting causing Light to turn to her. "Can we change the channel?" She blinks hopefully at her brother who is the one right now in charge of the remote.

"Why don't you go get us some snacks? I'll look to see if there is something else." Light suggests in which Sayu nods her okay.

Sayu heads off to the kitchen to go find them a snack to eat.

Light turns back to the TV and flips the guide on scrolling through what else is on, though is actually wasting time to try to listen to the message more.

"However I would like to announce another thing. I am a second Kira. Yes, I know how you do what you do original Kira. For I have obtained this power as well. If possible please send a message so that way we can meet without the police knowing. I am on your side and I am very sure that I will be of great assistance to you. You will not be disappointed. I promise."

Light hears his sister coming back so he switches the channel to a random movie that he spots. "How is that for something different?" He turns to his sister as she sits down next to him.

"Much better." Sayu confirms relaxing and offers some popcorn to her brother who takes it.

Light knows that he will need to figure things out with this message from another Kira. He is aware that the one death that he didn't do could have been done by him or her, so this other Kira could be a little reckless by announcing such things on TV live to whoever is watching, though he does admit it is a quick way to get the attention of the original Kira who is him, making it easier for them to possibly be able to meet, and that he is going to have to find someway to possibly reply without anyone catching on to things. He figures that he could use something that only they know about if this other Kira really does have a notebook, like they seem to be claiming. He pretends to watch the movie while eating popcorn with his sister not even watching what it actually is. He tries to think of how he could possibly get into contact with this other Kira. He has to find a way to do so. He has to know who this happens to be and be able to get him or her under control before they possibly mess up. He can't risk the police possibly getting hold of how he kills people if the other is recklessly caught.

Misa puts on a pull over hoodie, sweat pants, and runners. She has the hood pulled over her head as she doesn't want to be noticed by anyone. She is pleased that the news did air her message. She just needs to do a little undercover work on another case she's been working on. She turns into a park and walks along the path keeping her head down. She peeks up after getting further into the park. She pauses and blinks upon seeing a black notebook laying on the ground just ahead. She cautiously approaches it and looks down at it. She sees that it looks to be facing downwards. She reaches down picking it up. She is about to turn it over when she hears a voice behind herself.

"I am glad that you picked it up."

Misa spins around and looks up with wide eyes at this thing standing behind her.

"My name is Rem." The thing introduces itself as it stares at Misa. "And I am a Shinigami. That book you hold is my notebook. My Death Note."

Misa opens her mouth to respond then she closes her mouth as nothing comes out. She clears her throat then is finally able to force out some words. "A death note? A Shinigami? Am I dreaming?"

"No." Rem informs her glad that there isn't anyone in this place currently. "You are awake. I wanted you to have my death note. You can kill anyone that you want to with it."

Misa holds back a gasp realizing that maybe this is how Kira is killing other people. "Okay." She tucks it under her arm then she turns away from the Shinigami. "We can discuss this more when we get to my hotel room. I have something I need to check on here before that though." She knows that she can't stay there to continue to talk to this Shinigami. She can't risk someone seeing her since this is a major break in her own Kira case. She is happy though as actually being able to possibly get close to the real Kira now that she can do what Kira can do. She knows that she might have to kill someone or more people though she knows that the Kira case is unlike any other. She'll have to use tactics that she wouldn't usually use to catch Kira. Especially now that this opportunity has presented itself to her.

L and the others turn as Soichiro enters the room being helped by Watari.

"I got the tape." Soichiro informs them and sits down into a seat.

"Thank you." L tells the other. "We will take a closer look at them now. It was reckless what you did. But you did end up getting that tape." He gets up and moves closer to the older man. He gently takes the envelope with the tape on it when it is offered to him. "Though I do suggest that we get you back to the hospital. I will make sure that you are not going to be in trouble for your actions." He promises to the older man. "Your health is important as well though."

"Please." Soichiro looks L in the eye with a pleading in his gaze. "Let me stay a little longer to see if I can help. At least until we finish watching this tape."

L is quiet for a few moments as everyone turns to him for his decision on this. He then nods softly. "Alright. You can stay for the tape and some discussion afterwards. After that I will have Watari take you back to the hospital himself."

"Thank you." Soichiro relaxes upon hearing this happy that he will be able to help out with this.

L turns and heads to get the tape started knowing that it is best to get it done so Soichiro can get the rest he needs back in the hospital.
