Chapter 3:
Buffy's POV:
Yesterday was Andi's big party. Andi and Bex always create the most epic extravaganzas ever. I still can't believe that Celia was the one in the dinosaur costume. It made for a good surprise. Also, TJ playing the keys. I feel like I should have known that about him. Granted, I did know that he was into music because he went by the record store that Bowie worked at sometimes just like Jonah. I think that they are friends now. Cyrus made it sound like they weren't at some point which I have a hard time believing because everything to Jonah is Docious Magocious.
Last night Cyrus said something about the night being life changing. That is something that I am going to have to bug him about later. All I know is that we were both bummed out about our crushes at the beginning of the party and that him and TJ sang together. Although cute, I wouldn't call singing a duet with someone life changing.
I'm in The Spoon Diner waiting for Cyrus, Andi, and Jonah. I can't wait to tell them that Marty kissed me and that we are a couple now. It was such an exhilarating night, and I loved every minute of it. I ordered baby taters from Amber already. Where are they? I don't know if they are running late or if I am just super jittery right now.
Finally, Cyrus walks in and sits next to me. He looks at my wide and shiny eyes with suspicion. He can just sense when I am excited about stuff. I feel like we have gotten so much closer in the last couple of months. He is probably more of a friend at this point than Andi. Andi and I will be best girl friends for life, but with everything that has been going on lately Cyrus has been a much steadier confidant.
Jonah and Andi walk in together. I get the sense that they may have had another one of their "coupley" talks. However, I doubt that if they ever get back together it won't be any time soon.
It makes me crack up to think about people having crushes on him because I never really had an attraction to him, yet both my friends did. Cyrus and I laugh because looking back he just likes having fun but he doesn't really commit to a relationship. We agree that he probably shouldn't be dating anyone, but he does anyway. We don't know if we should tell him that. It doesn't seem like our business.
"Hi Buffy, Cyrus. You two look happy." Jonah says.
Cyrus and I exchange looks and he nudges me. "Yeah, what's got you so happy Buffy. You are making me excited just sitting next to me." He then takes a baby tater.
"I have news."
"What news?" Andi prompts.
"Marty and I are boyfriend and girlfriend now."
"Ahhhhh! Yay Buffy!" Andi exclaims loud enough that a bunch of patrons look over and she mumbles an apology leading to everyone laughing.
Andi and Jonah were commenting so I look over at Cyrus. He is on his phone and being sort of secretive.
Cyrus's POV:
I am looking down at my phone texting to TJ:
C: Hey!
TJ: Hey Underdog! Wassup?
C: I am at The Spoon with the rest of the ghc and Jonah. Buffy just told us that she is dating Marty now.
TJ: Wow. That's exciting.
C: Can I tell them we are together or what exactly did we determine last night?
TJ: …That we like each other.
C: Yeah, I wasn't sure what we wanted to label it and didn't start thinking about it until later.
TJ: I guess we're boyfriends. I mean I am kind of fine with whatever.
C: Okay, cool. So… do you want me to tell them, or?
TJ: Wait, do they know that you are gay?
C: Yeah, I came out to them already. Well, everyone but Marty, but I don't think it would surprise him all that much.
TJ: Hehe…Yeah, um I don't know. I'm not sure if I need everyone knowing. I mean, I am okay with Buffy knowing because I feel more comfortable around her than Andi and Jonah…but.
C: I get it. You need time. I'll tell Buffy later today. I just wanted to know what was cool and what wasn't. I've never really done this before.
TJ: Me neither.
C: GTG Buffy is looking over suspiciously.
TJ: K. Bye.
Buffy shakes my shoulder as I put my phone down. I mouth 'Later' to her and she gets the message that I don't want to talk about it until after we leave the Spoon.
We end up talking with Andi and Jonah for another forty-five minutes before Andi tells us that she needs to go because she had some quality time to spend with Bowie. I felt like I was going to burst and tell them that Tyrus was a thing, but I understood TJ's hesitance. After all, Andi and Jonah are still sort of warming up to him. Andi especially. I know that TJ and Jonah are good friends now, but if we rock Jonah with one more thing about TJ that doesn't fit his idea of a super masculine mean bully the guy might faint. It'll be better for everyone if I wait until we've all had a time to bond over the summer.
Jonah decides that he should go to and leaves us be. Buffy looks at me and says "Now, spill."
"Okay, but can we go outside first."
"Fine. But just because I love you and I can tell something is making you really happy."
We walked for a couple minutes before I said "Tyrus is a thing."
"Wait, what?"
Her face was full of disbelief. "Why didn't you say anything while we were in the diner?"
"I was texting him and he asked that I only tell you for now because he feels the closest to you out of all of my friends."
"I guess that makes sense. So, did you guys just confess, or did you kiss, or?"
"We confessed, told some secrets, and held hands for a ridiculously long amount of time. Why did you ask about a kiss? Did you and Marty kiss?"
"Yeah…"
"And you're mad at me for not saying anything in the diner."
She swats my shoulder. "I don't know, maybe if Andi had asked…yeah."
"I'm guessing you liked it."
"Maybe…"
I chuckle at her and we continue talking about relationships as we head towards the park where TJ and I like to hang out on the swings.
The End.
