She couldn't remember the last time she truly let go. Rory was having the time of her life drinking and dancing with Jess. Although, if she was being totally honest what they were doing was less like dancing, and more like foreplay. Between the alcohol and the crush of bodies they neither noticed or cared. They reveled in the feel of their hands on each other, grasping, pulling and pushing as they moved in time to the music. It felt like they were the only people in the club.

Rory knew that closing time was approaching, but she wasn't ready to call it a night. Her time with Jess had been amazing, and she didn't want it to end. She was sure this feeling couldn't last, and she wanted to prolong is as long as possible.

"Jess, let's go watch the fountains at the Bellagio. I've always loved the scene at the end of Ocean's 11 and want to experience it for myself." She placed her hand in his and squeezed his fingers.

At this point he wasn't going to say no to a request like that from Rory. She was an enchantress and he was completely under her spell. He steered her back to the table to gather their belongings, slung his arm across her shoulders, and led her out into the night.

They walked a little way before Rory stopped them.

"I can't take another step in these shoes. Carry me?" she pleaded, staring up at him with puppy dog eyes.

"What? No!" he turned to look at her. "It's not my fault you wore those ridiculous shoes."

Even as he was saying it his eyes raked up the length of her leg, perfectly highlighted by the heels and the short shorts of her romper. She could see the lust in his eyes, and at the moment she wasn't above playing on it.

She leaned up and put her mouth next to his ear, threaded her fingers into his hair and whispered, "please, Jess."

As he crouched down he muttered, "you're going to be the death of me woman."

Rory giggled as she clambered onto his back.

In a few minutes they were standing shoulder to shoulder in front of the fountain, mesmerized by the beauty.

Rory looked at Jess. "I wish we had met under different circumstances."

He smiled at her sadly. "I know…"

Rory woke up to a pounding in her head, a terrible taste in her mouth, and very little memory of last night. She remembered fighting with Logan, gathering her things, and clubbing with Jess, but she could tell that large patches of time were missing.

She was asleep on the sofa bed in Jess's room, just like they had arranged. She certainly didn't remember getting here. Rory looked at the table next to her. Jess had left a bottle of water, some aspirin and a note. She gulped the pills down and took a deep drink of the water. She still felt like death warmed over, but at least the cotton mouth was gone. Gathering all of her strength, she reached over and attempted to read the note.

Rory,

I have a book signing today. It will be done by 4.

Please don't leave until we have a chance to talk.

Jess

PS. Do you remember getting tattoos last night?

Rory put down the note and wracked her brain. Tattoos? Her mom would have a field day with that. She hoped it was just him. She took stock of her body as she tried to figure out what had happened.

Jess tried to focus on his fans. On his best days he struggled through book signings. Today was exponentially worse. His head was pounding. The fans kept asking who the woman he was photographed with last night was. And he really could not remember what possessed him to get a tattoo. His mind wandered to Rory. He wanted to know if she now had a matching tattoo, or if he was the only one that had been permanently marked last night.

He loved his bad boy image. He worked hard to remain aloof. It was better than people getting too close and asking too many questions. Jess could not understand what had happened with Rory last night. Somehow she had broken through every defense. It was like he had no self control when it came to her.

Another gushing fan came up and started asking him about the woman he was seen with last night. Jess couldn't take it anymore. He called over the organizer, explained that he really needed to deal with an emergency, threw on his leather jacket and left to find Rory.

After the aspirin started working, Rory was finally able to drag herself out of bed. The first thing she did was dig in her purse to find her phone. It had been off for hours, and when it finally came to life, messages poured in. There were texts from her mom, Lane, Emily, Sookie, Paris, and approximately half of Stars Hollow, in addition to the tons that had been left by Logan.

Rory didn't take the time to sift through the messages. She dialed her mom and waited for her to answer, cradling her head in her hands.

"Ahh there she is. The prodigal daughter can finally find the time to call her loving mother."

Rory groaned, of course her mother was going to give her a hard time. "Mom, cut the crap. Is there an emergency? My phone was off and it seems like the whole world needed to get in touch with me. Has something happened?"

"Oh, something has happened all right. I was getting ready for work, drinking my coffee, with Good Morning America on for company since you and Luke insist on leaving me alone all the time. And I was thinking about how much I love coffee when all of a sudden. I look up and promptly spit my coffee all over my favorite blue sweater. Do you know what caused me to have such a reaction? Is there anything I need to know, fruit of my loins?"

"Mom, my head is pounding, I can barely open my eyes. I do not know what you are talking about. Please get to the point." Rory moaned in frustration.

"Well, my engaged daughter went to Las Vegas with her fiancee and I saw pictures of said daughter grinding all over one beautiful man, who unfortunately, was not the aforementioned fiancee…"

Rory groaned. "Wait, there were pictures on Good Morning America? Why? It's not like it's a crime to dance with a guy. And, why does anyone care any way?"

"I'll spell it out for you, since you can't seem to reason with the hangover I imagine you are battling. The guy you were grinding on is famous. He is an author. One that never goes clubbing and never gets caught by the paparazzi. People took notice since it seemed like you guys were going to consummate your relationship on the dance floor." Her mother let out a giggle. "What happened to my level headed daughter? This is so not like you. Where is Logan?"

"In case the pictures you saw didn't clue you in, I broke it off with Logan last night." Rory barely got the words out before her mother started cheering.

"Finally! You have seen the light! Hallelujah!" Lorelai was dancing around singing and shouting.

"Mom, please don't hold back. Really tell me how you feel." She slumped down and rested her head on the table. "I can't talk anymore right now. Before I go, the messages from Lane, grandma, Sookie and everyone else, are they about the pictures?"

"Of course! I will go spread the news that you are a free woman. I wonder who won the pool. I'll make sure to let you know." Lorelai giggle at the thought. "Love you kid."

"Love you too, mom." Rory laid back down, her head spinning.

"Can this day get any worse?" she grumbled to herself.
