Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Frozen Wisdom. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own Zelda. Nintendo and a few others do.

Wren continued riding through the forest. He could only ponder the future of his home. There was no guarantee that they would survive without his leadership.

But that was out of his hands. He could give a thousand different orders, but that wouldn't save his homeland. His men knew he wanted to save it. Yas would find a way to whip the remaining defenses into a fortress.

He and Zhost slowly entered the new land. Zhost gave the ground several sniffs as the Lupenzhost had rarely seen the soil… And even more rarely had seen the grass.

"So, this is Hyrule." Wren stated as he looked around at the moment. "We should keep going. The longer we wait? The more lives we put in danger." Wren stated as he urged Zhost forward.

The animal slowly walked forward. Wren sighed and then looked at the trees. This area felt far more alien then he understood once more.

Wren sighed and let the reins fall down while allowing Zhost to slowly trudge forward. He knew that this land would be dangerous, it felt… Off, corrupted, like some great evil had consumed it.

Wren kept his cloak up and his sword ready. Wren was partly happy that he wasn't entirely alone here.

On one hand? This land was alien and he wanted the safety of company. However? Wren wanted the majority of the backup which could be protecting him back home. Any guards or soldiers or such that could protecting him?

To allow them here and deny his homeland the protection of their skill? Wren wanted to be safe, but he knew more then anything that his people needed warriors.

"Zhost, you, ok?" Wren questioned and got a loud purr from the animal. "Good, I don't want you falling asleep on me yet. I need your help for something." Wren said and opened up the map he had been given.

Wren sighed and started to research it. He had heard only bits and pieces of the wars in Hyrule. This land was so far outside his own… Why would his scouts worry about land that Wren didn't rule it?

However? That also stymied things at the moment for him. Not knowing anything meant he couldn't tell if the maps were accurate or not.

"I wish so blasted much that Yas was here rather than me." Wren stated as he pointed at the map at the moment. "The longer we stay here without things to discuss? The more blood I feel is on my hands." Wren said and dismounted Zhost.

Zhost turned to look at her master who laid a hand on her head and slowly pet the animal. He chuckled in amusement as the animal put her head into his hand.

Wren could only ponder what would be happening back home. His soldiers would fight to the last breath. Wren knew their loyalty was good, they were soldiers that could outfight his brother's soldiers. Yas trained every soldier well.

"I cannot ask for a better command of Iclyn's defenses then Yas." Wren stated as Zhost hummed and purred. "We're be home sooner or later, girl. We just need to track down some help so we HAVE a home to go back to." Wren muttered while leaning on the animal.

He heard the sounds of a growl… One which clearly wasn't human, nor was it from anything he could identity. Wren grabbed his sword from Zhost, holding the weapon up as Zhost growled and slowly looked around with clear interest.

"Easy, girl." Wren said which got Zhost to back down. "Now that could be useful if only, we knew where they were coming from…. And what made that noise to begin with." Wren added with doubt in his mind.

Zhost growled, claws slowly extending from her paws like oversized knives. He was clearly happy that Zhost was as protective as always. It made the animal far more well meaning when it came down to it.

"Zhost, track, ok?" Wren questioned to which the animal growled and slowly took off. "I didn't say, run off and go do whatever you… Screw it." Wren muttered as he shook his head and turned to look around with interest.

He kept his sword ready, the last thing he wanted was a monster to sneak up on him. He was already vulnerable enough, how would someone react to a prince being out here? Alone, without guards, or defenses or anything else that could possibly keep him alive long enough.

He doubted they cared, all they saw was a vulnerable target that they could hunt down and kill. Wren would prove them and his brother wrong. He had come here to defend his homeland… And no matter what? He'd defend it to the last breath he took in his body.

Every breath counted in his mind. Both in his kingdom, and in his people.
