It was 4 hours when the shooting of the series finally ended. As always, there were no doubles, after all Bolt was a very good actor, despite the fact that he knew that it was only a series and had nothing to do with reality.
After the shooting, the girl and the dog went to the room where they were stripped of all the accessories they had on their bodies.
"Great job Bolt, you did as good a job as ever" praised Penny to her dog as the make-up artist washed away her hair which had debris in it from the walls knocked down in the film. Bolt was also being rinsed of the dirt that had accidentally clung to his pristine white fur.
Meanwhile, in another room, the director, along with cameramen, cinematographers and others who performed other functions, were looking at the footage and assessing the quality of the footage.
"I said there was no need to pay so much attention to the dog philosophy," remarked Mindy standing next to the director.
"I don't know how, but that dog knows how to behave in a situation... It's like he understands what we're saying to him" replied the man fascinated by each subsequent frame of the film. After all, no wonder, it's his own creation.
"No, he just has a very good owner" replied Mindy.
"Maybe... On another note, how are the viewing figures? Have they improved?" the man asked. The woman reached for the folder she held in her right hand. She opened it, flipped through a few pages, only to stop at one.
"It's gone up a bit... Better for you," the woman chuckled, then left the room.
"Alright, edit it asap and we've got a week to get the scene ready" the man said taking a stack of cards in his hand, then also left the room. He continued walking along the corridor to enter the room where the wonders of makeup were happening.
"Can I have a moment?" the man asked as he stepped inside.
"Yes," replied Penny inviting her guest inside. Her hair had just dried as well as Bolt's fur. They were both ready to leave the room.
"You played today as you always do, great! Here you have the script for the week, read it familiarize yourself, remember..."
"That we play without doubles... We know, you say it every week" finished Penny taking the cards from the man.
"Indeed we do..." replied the man walking Penny and Bolt all the way to the car.
"Have fun and be ready" saluted the man, after which the girl and the dog got into the car.
There was a quiet atmosphere during the drive home. Bolt and Penny looked out of the window to admire the unusually red sunset. The sky had turned from blue to blood red. The sun was slowly hiding behind the horizon sending out its last rays.
"A beautiful evening isn't it?" asked Penny's mother also admiring the view.
"That's right," replied Penny. Stroking Lightning who tried to stick his head out of the window but couldn't as it was closed.
"No Bolt, it's starting to get cold already, I don't want you to get sick." informed Penny pulling her pet away from the window.
Meanwhile, Mittens and Rhino were lazily spending the time sitting on the couch and flipping through the channels choosing what they would watch.
"There's nothing interesting," Mittens stated after flipping through all the channels, then laid back down.
"You can't appreciate the magic of television" wheezed Rhino taking the remote, which eventually went into Mittens' paws. After a few rewinds the hamster giggled turning up the TV.
"That's what we're going to watch" communicated Rhino laying down on the leather furniture.
"Bolt?"
"Yeah."
"Wait, and that wasn't already on?" asked Mittens watching the beginning of the show she already remembered.
"Maybe... But what difference does it make? After all, this is Bolt!"
"Don't you get bored watching the same episodes?"
"Come on, I've watched every series 3 times, this series never gets boring for me!" replied the hamster getting engrossed in the series. Mittens sighed, then joined in watching.
After 45 minutes, the episode of the series ended. Mittens watched the episode, which was already a week old, with weariness, while Rhino was absorbed in the series with curiosity.
"Penny has been saved again!" exclaimed Rhino excitedly rubbing his little paws.
"Yeah... Wow, I didn't expect that" sighed Mittens, then took the TV in her paws. At that moment they both heard a car under the window.
"They must have already arrived" said Mittens turning off the TV.
"Why did you turn it off?"
"You remember what the deal is. When they arrive we are not to watch TV"
"But..."
"No buts. Come on, it'll be served in a moment" Mittens said putting the remote down on the glass bench then got off the couch. A moment later the door opened and in it Bolt appeared first.
"Hi Bolt!" burst out Rhino shouting running up to him.
"Hi Rhino, hi Mittens" replied Bolt laughing at his friend's greeting.
"Howdy kitty" replied the kitten also approaching the dog.
"You must be hungry, I'll give you something to eat in a minute" said the mother penny, walking straight to the kitchen to feed her pets.
"Remember Bolt, we don't go for a walk after the pictures... I feel tired after them" communicated Penny placing her script on the bookcase.
"What's this?" asked Rhino, seeing the girl place the stack of papers on the wooden piece of furniture.
"A script. That's what we learn from, better not touch it, it would be better if it was in one piece" replied Bolt.
"Come eat!" cried the woman as she finished putting dinner on for her animals.
"You Penny will eat something?"
"No, I'm not hungry" replied Penny walking upstairs to her room.
"Well... At least you guys eat" said the woman sitting down at the table eating by herself. Mittens got fresh fish, Bolt her favourite crisps and the hamster her food.
"Mmm... Fresh fish," said a satisfied Mittens with her dinner.
"It's better than begging isn't it?" asked Bolt getting ready to eat.
"Yes... Definitely yes" replied Mittens smelling the fish. The smell alone made Mittens involuntarily purr. Before the two friends had time to eat, the hamster was already full and lying belly up.
"Rhino... What are you, have you eaten already!" asked a surprised Bolt.
"Believe me it was really good" sighed Rhino with a smile. Bolt busied himself with his food in surprise. It was his favourite food, he used to get it when he was still living on a movie set. It was his childhood taste. After a delicious dinner, everyone started to disperse to their bedrooms, as it was getting quite late and dark.
"Well... Then I'll see you tomorrow, good night" Bolt said to Rhino and Mittens, then started up the stairs to Penny's room. Mittens and Rhino always slept under the cooker, which as every evening was lit to keep the house warm.
"Ahh... Nothing like lying down under a warm cooker, is there Rhino?"
"Yes... But it would be better to sleep with them" Rhino sighed.
"Come on... You have to accept that they live in their own little world" sighed Mittens closing her eyes. It pained her too that Bolt wasn't sleeping with them, but she accepted it and in fact wasn't even surprised by it.
"Good night Rhino" said Mittens after which she fell asleep.
I know the plot is pretty monotonous so far, but FF is not a movie... The initial chapters must drive the action, but I'll try to ramp up the action as quickly as possible. It can only get more interesting with each chapter! See you later!
