Chapter 2: Revelations
Hello once again!
So, you all seemed to have enjoyed the second chapter and I even got more Follows!
And more Favorites!
And reviews!
I don't know if I will be able to answer all of them if will get more(please review, me need it), but I will try, doodle be damned!
MasterBlade47: Well, I hope you'll like what I got in mind!
SketchhFive: I hope I'll be able to keep your interest!
ProjectIceman: Maybe you do, maybe you don't, but I'll think you'll be surprised. :) And I'm happy you liked Spectre! He was what I had in mind for the first fanfic I ever wanted to write, but I wanted to wait for the manga to progress, especially with the latest chapters. (Rifle! RIFLE! (I hope that doesn't count as a spoiler?))
WakumiReiss: I'm not very good with Spanish, but I think I understood what you meant. And will try my best, once I read it! Thanks for putting it on our radar!
hunt1103: Huh? Oh, damn, you're right. Thanks for pointing it out, I fixed it now. And no, I'm afraid Archive of Knowledge is currently not on AO3. I do have an account, but I'm still struggling with the mechanics of the site, hahaha...ha...but, I will upload it there some time, just don't know when exactly.
Riizze: I'm actually currently watching Invincible, so once I finished it, I will most certainly try my best to incorporate it! And while I can't promise anything, I'll try my best to write your requests, but it may take some time, as I may have to watch/read/play the requests in question.
MagicBanana223: (Oh my, that's a big one.) Thanks! And also thanks for the information, this is going to make it a lot easier! And I love your suggestions, most of all because two of them were what I had already in mind!
It's placed sometime between the Joint Training Arc and the start of the Meta Liberation Arc. And I was planning on using some scenes from the anime and manga, like the fight against Muscular, which is one of my favorites fights in the series!
Alright, that's it. Whew!
Anyway, the author's notes are at the end of the chapter and I hope you will enjoy the chapter!
(Also, something of note: If some parts feel like they were written by someone else, that's because they were. I can't look at a screen too long due to an old head injury, so a friend of mine writes down what I tell her to write. Just call her Mel. Say hi Mel. Hi! Thanks Mel. Anyway, on with the story!)

Izuku swallowed nervously, sweat running down his neck. What was he supposed to tell his classmates?
Looking around the room, he saw the curious faces of his classmates stare back at him. At the back, sitting beside his mother, his mentor looked him in the eyes and gave him a shrug.
Toshinori Yagi would normally be all for keeping One for All a secret, but he knew that these kids were a good bunch, even if somewhat...peculiar. And considering that most of these recordings would most likely follow his successor, there was a big chance that One for All would be shown.
It would be better for their trust and companionship if they find it out by Izuku himself.
To Izuku's utter shame, there was a short moment, barely a second long, where he still considered lying or just not saying anything at all. He was afraid. The logical part of his brain knew, knew that his classmates wouldn't look down on him. Even Bakugo had matured, no more like his younger self from Aldera.
But the little part of his brain that constantly haunts him, keeps him up on particularly bad nights, makes him remember every single jeer and taunt...
It whispered to him, on and on, repeating the same few sentences.
They will hate you...you'll be the quirkless kid once again...you'll be Deku, for all time...
'Yeah...I'll be Deku...'
Looking at his classmates, teachers, mother, and little Eri still hugging him, he smiled.
'And that's okay. Because Deku is a Hero!'
Taking a deep breath, he gave the people surrounding him a serious look.
"What I'm about to tell you...you have to promise me. No, not only me but also All Might, that you will keep what you hear here to yourself. No one and I MEAN no one can hear this. Do you promise me?"
His classmates stared at him with wide eyes. They got used to Midoriya sometimes becoming serious and taking the lead. It was actually quite inspirational, seeing the usually timid and shy boy becoming so determined.
But this? This was on a whole nother level. They could practically see the steel in his eyes.
It made it clear, that this was something serious. But how did it involve All Might?
Looking at each other, silent conversations flowing between them, they all nodded and turned back to Izuku.
"We promise.", "You got Midoriya.", "You have our word.", and more flowed through the room as they promised him to keep quiet.
Izuku, hearing their earnest promises, smiled. He considered telling them only how he got One for All, but, he did trust them...
And so, getting more comfortable on the couch, he began.
"Well then...I guess one could say it all started with the doctor's visit after my fourth birthday. It was on that day, that I learned that not all men are created equal..."

It...wasn't easy. Telling his classmates about the darkest years of his life was emotionally and mentally draining.
He had to stop sometimes, the memories still painful and raw. But, ignoring the voice, he trudged on, telling his story.
All the way to that fateful day.
"Now that I think about it, it must have looked quite dramatic. Me, on the ground and sobbing my heart out, All Might, standing above me with the setting sun behind him...", Izuku mused, leaning back on the couch, lightly cradling Eri on his lap, his mother hugging him from the side.
The little girl had crawled onto his lap during the first time he to stop the first time, hugging him as he wiped at his tearing eyes. His mother had taken the opportunity to scoot closer to console him.
His classmates had taken positions around him, sitting on the nearby couch, the ground, and even on the coffee tables, listening with rapt attention.
It had been an emotional rollercoaster for them, hearing about the life of their resident cinnamon roll before UA.
They knew that quirkless people had it...rough. But most, if not all of them, hadn't really understood.
Hearing it firsthand, from their own classmate... explained so many things about him, his behavior, the flinches because of loud sounds or physical contact.
There were many a tear spilled during some of his more low moments and some of them swore, mentally, to 'talk' with a few of Midoriya's former classmates.
"But, I didn't pay attention to any of that. All I could hear was that one sentence I had longed for all my life. 'You too, can become a hero.' It is, without a doubt, the happiest moment of life. And it led to many more", he continued talking, a small smile on his face.
He felt his mother squeeze him at those words, and, knowing what she was thinking about, he simply nudged her with his head and smiled at her. His classmates meanwhile cheered for him, happy that he got the support he always craved.
"Of course", he went on determined to get that last part out as fast possible, "he then continued with an even more incredible line. 'You're worthy of my power.' Imagine my surprise, All Might's Quirk could be passed on! And he chose me as his successor!"
Ignoring his shocked and still classmates, Izuku rambled on.
"Of course, I couldn't get it just then, as my body was too weak for it. So All Might made me go through ten months of grueling, exhausting training, full of tears, sweat, blood, and more tears until I was ready to receive it. And that's how I got my Quirk."
Silence reigned as his classmates stared at him, some in disbelief and shock.
It was broken by Yaoyorozu, who lifted a hand.
"Midoriya, with all due respect, but could you repeat that? I could have sworn you just said that you inherited All Might's Quirk", the rich girl asked, her voice rising in pitch at the last words.
"That's because that's what he said Ponytail", Bakugo said, sitting on his couch. He had stayed quiet during Izuku's retelling.
While Izuku didn't say any names, some of his more observant classmates had connected enough dots to get suspicious.
"Wait, Bakubro, what's with that calm reaction? I had expected more of a, you know, 'AAAAH, DEKU, BOOOOOOM!', you know?", Kirishima asked of the ashen-blond boy.
"Deku told me already some time ago" he replied calmly to the shock of the others, before exploding at the fake redhead, "AND WHAT'S THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN SHITTY HAIR?! I CAN BE CALM!"
While Bakugo raged at Kirishima, his other classmates started questioning Izuku, about All Might, his life, and the Quirk he inherited.
"So, it's a Stockpiling Quirk, getting stronger with each generation? And you're the ninth holder of the Quirk?", Ojiro asked his mumbling classmate.
"Y-yeah, it grows over the time a wielder possesses One for All, and continues to grow each time it gets passed down."
"Oh, is that its name? One for All?", Ashido asked, sitting on the armrest of the teacher's couch.
"Yes, All Might once told me it's supposed to mean something l-like 'One that works for everyone', or something similar."
His classmates ooooh'd.
"Well, that's you to a T, isn't it Midoriya?", Hagakure teased him lightly. And she was right, it was a fitting description for Izuku.
Flushing red, Izuku ducked his head.
"Hm, do you know if it was by chance inspired by the Three Musketeers? Their motto happens to be 'One for All and All for One'", Tokoyami asked.
Opening his mouth to answer, Izuku stopped. Closing his mouth again, he tilted his head. "I...don't know? I mean, as far as I know, the First named it, and he was alive during the time Quirks only just started appearing. So, maybe?"
"...dear Jesus, how old is that Quirk?!"
"Uh, a-about 200 years, give or take a few?"
Jaws dropped and eyes grew wide.
It shouldn't have been surprised to hear how old the Quirk was, considering that he was the Ninth Holder, but hearing it still threw them for a loop.
"And...and it has been accumulating energy for all this time?", Yaoyorozu asked, horrified amazement in her voice.
"Y-yes...?"
"How strong are you?", Sato asked in a terrified whisper. His classmates agreed with him.
"I really don't know? I can't use my full power without breaking myself to pieces, but considering my fight against Overhaul and the first time I used it...very."
While his classmates tried to digest these newest facts, the teachers were conversing with Guide, intent on giving their students some privacy.
"Please rewind a few more minutes Guide", Nezu told the V.I., notepad in hand.
Certainly.
The teachers waited, before signaling him to stop. The scene paused, showing the wall covered in pictures.
"There, some of these names seem familiar, don't they?"
While he was writing them down, Thoshinori and Aizawa inspected the image. They also had notepads and were writing down the locations noted on the maps onscreen.
Aizawa stopped suddenly. "Wait. Some of these names...we only recently uncovered their connections to All for One. And the Problem Child did the same. On his own. Within a few months."
Toshinori hummed in agreement. "Young Midoriya was always fairly intelligent, especially regarding Quirks and heroes."
"Oh, is he?", Nezu asked, a scheming shine in his eyes. The two teachers stiffened, a shudder running down their backs. Looking at each other with terror in their eyes, they thought at the same time.
'Oh god, what have we done?'
Back with the students...
"Waitwaitwait. Its power is growing, right? That's what you said?", Sero blurted out.
"Um, yeah, w-why?", Izuku answered and asked right back.
"So, that means...if you got the Quirk from All Might...", he started, making a few people tilt their head. Among them was Eri, who got a confused look on her face.
"Then that means you're gonna be stronger than All Might, right?"
"...yeah?" Had it been even just a few weeks prior, Izuku wouldn't have even dreamed of saying something like that. It would have felt like blasphemy. But, he had felt his power at 100%, and if only for a few minutes.
And he could confidently say that it had been almost at All Might's level. Considering he still had some growing to do...
Yeah, it wasn't a longshot to say that he would most likely be stronger than his mentor.
His classmates felt their jaws drop. They, just like Izuku himself, grew up in a time were All Might was in his prime, defeating almost every villain with only one punch. It was difficult to imagine someone being even stronger than that.
"MANLY!", Kirishima cried out, no longer being able to hold back.
"What he said!" Ashido and Hagakure cheered.
"No wonder you're so powerful! You're, like, All Might Plus!", Uraraka said with awe.
Izuku chuckled uncomfortably, scratching the back of his head.
"Dude! You're basically guaranteed to become Number One with a Quirk like that!", Kaminari shouted, some of the others agreeing with him.
"No no! Any of you could become Number One! You're all incredibly creative with your Quirks and skilled with them!", the greenette tried to deflect, flushing a deep red.
"Midoriya, you helped All Might shatter a massive metal tower", Jirou deadpanned, recalling the I-Island incident.
"Y-yeah, but I had help from All Might!"
"Overhaul." Uraraka, Asui, and even Kirishima deadpanned.
Ducking his head, he started muttering. It was stopped by a small hand, patting him on the cheek.
"Deku?", Eri asked him, still encased in his arms.
"Y-yeah Eri-chan?"
With an adorable frown on her face, she asked him.
"Is All Might your Papa?"
Silence.
Even the teachers became silent, or as silent as possible with Toshinori spewing blood all over himself in shock.
Everybody stared at the little girl, blank faces all around. Except for Todoroki, who looked at Eri and hummed. 'Ah, I see. You too, are a fellow believer.'
The two Midoriyas meanwhile turned beet red, both stammering denials before calming down enough to answer. Eri looked at them in confusion.
"W-w-w-w-why d-d-do ask t-t-t-that Eri-chan?"
"I saw it on the, um, TV?", looking at him for confirmation, she continued, "that children and their mama and papa have the same Quirk."
Sweatdropping at her explanation, Izuku corrected her.
"Um, Eri-chan, children don't always have the same Quirk as their parents, just very often", he explained, the little Unicorn oh'ing in understanding.
"And, just because two people have the same Quirk, doesn't mean that they're related", he went on, his stutter disappearing as he got into more familiar territory, "some people just happen to have the same Quirk. All Might literally gave me the Quirk. He's not my father."
"That's what All Might's secret love-child would say."
"Todoroki, no."
Coughing awkwardly, Inko spoke up. "Um, I can assure you Todoroki-kun, Izuku's father is not All Might. His father is in America, working."
"Oh." Todoroki slumped in disappointment, pulling a notepad from...somewhere, and ripped a few pages out, grumbling to himself.
"...we really need to have a talk soon Todoroki-kun", Yaoyorozu sighed, massaging her forehead.
Calming down from the excitement, everyone went back to their seats.
"All right, now that that's over", Aizawa said, already tired, "let's discuss what we saw. Any observations?"
A few seconds passed before everyone lifted their hands.
"...why can't you show this much participation in class?", he grumbled, before choosing someone at random. "Shoji."
"That version of Midoriya was more technique-oriented than our one. Our Midoriya usually focuses on using his strength and speed to overpower his opponents, while the one in there...I'm just gonna call him Spectre from now on...uses weapons, gadgets, and dirty tricks to take down his enemies."
'That was the most he ever talked!', his classmates thought, their usually quiet and conservative classmate expertly breaking down Spectre's fighting style.
And it made sense, given his enhanced strength and the ability to grow more limbs, he had to develop his own style to make the most use of it.
Aizawa merely nodded. "Correct. What else?"
"Guns are dangerous?", Kaminari jokingly asked.
"Yes", their constantly exhausted teacher said in a no-nonsense tone. "While they mostly fell out of use with the rise of Quirks, firearms are still incredibly dangerous. A well-placed bullet can take out anyone, no matter how strong their Quirk is."
An awkward silence spread through the room, his students shifting uncomfortably in their seats.
"Anything else?"
"...one doesn't need a Quirk to be effective?"
"Yes. There are situations where you can't use your Quirk for whatever reason, so you should learn from this scenario. Sometimes, tactics and simple brutality make up for the inability to use a Quirk. Or even lack of Quirk", he lectured, nodding to Izuku.
Nodding their understanding, the students all made plans to give more focus to hand-to-hand combat and to visit the Support Department to get some gadgets.
"But, can we just appreciate how absolutely badass Midoribro is as Spectre? He took down Stain! On his own! How Manly is that?!", Kirishima blurted out, vibrating in his seat.
"It was pretty impressive, considering that in our universe it took Iida, Midoriya, and me to take him down", Todoroki agreed.
"Yeah!...wait, what?"
Everybody turned to Todoroki. Izuku and Iida facepalmed.
Todoroki blinked. "Oh, right. We weren't supposed to talk about it. Oops", he said, not sounding sorry in the least.
After another explanation, the students of 1-A found themselves speechless once again.
"Are you telling me, the prez, who is all for following the rules, was ready to break the law in order to get revenge? So Green here hunted him and Stain down, in a city attacked by Nomus, to help him. And Todoroki here decided to join the party after getting a location message by him?", Jirou asked, absolute disbelief in her voice.
"Y-yes.", "Indeed.", "Pretty much."
"...damn."
Pushing this latest revelation aside, they turned back to the TV, where Guide's avatar was calmly floating onscreen.
Are you ready for the next scenario?
"Yes, we are", Nezu confirmed.
Then please choose the next scenario.
"Who wants to choose next?", Aizawa asked his students. After a few minutes of everyone shouting and lifting their hands, Aizawa sighed in exasperation.
"Alright, I should have expected this. Yaoyorozu, make a fortune wheel with the names of everyone here", he ordered his student.
The recommended student did as told and placed the massive fortune wheel behind the couch.
"So, this is how it will happen from now on. The last one that chose will spin this wheel and where the arrow lands, that one chooses. Simple, right?"
Seeing nods in return, he motioned Izuku to spin the wheel.
Placing Eri next to his mother, he stood up and got up. Stepping next to the wheel, he gave it a firm whirl. After a few moments of spinning, it started slowing down, before stopping on...
Toshinori.
Surprised, the retired hero stood up and went to the bookcase. Looking at the three remaining booklets, he hummed to himself.
The three remaining were 'Regret', 'Rise of the Hero', and 'Chance of a Lifetime'.
While a part of him wanted to pick 'Chance of a Lifetime', if only to see what had his successor so spooked, he wasn't going to torment him like that.
So, after a few moments of careful thought, he chose the one that sounded happier.
"'Rise of the Hero', please", he asked of Guide.
Of course. Opening compartment to the scenario: 'Rise of the Hero'. Is this your final choice?
"Yes", he answered without a doubt and retrieved the booklet and case. Pulling the USB stick out of the case, he inserted it into the TV, while the old USB stick was seemingly pulled into the TV, disappearing.
"Huh. What's with the old one?"
The scenario played before this will be assimilated into the UnVIBox Mark VI itself, to be stored for later viewings. Furthermore, the UnViBox Mark VI will be scanning the recording and the multiverse for additional information about the scenario.
"Does that mean we will be able to see a continuation of this one, ribbit?", Asui asked.
Correct.
"Huh. Neat."
Sitting back down, he put the booklet in front of him on the coffee table and nodded to Aizawa, who still had the remote.
Said teacher pushed the 'Pause' button and let the recording start.
The image turned black once again, before exploding into a more colorful background, the title appearing onscreen.
Rise of the Hero
Midoriya Izuku kneeled on the ground, sobbing as his idol stared down at him. His sunken-in eyes seemed to glow in the waning light, retaining that essence of strength even in his shrunken form.
Everybody blinked in surprise at the scene, recalling how Izuku had described it not even half an hour ago.
"Well, would you look at that", Sero commented, "it did look incredibly dramatic."
The others nodded, some feeling awed as they stared at the image of the hero and his future successor.
Today had been a rollercoaster of emotions for Izuku. From the usual bullying at school and torment from his former best friend-
Bakugo flinched slightly, remembering what had happened that day and what he had said.
-getting attacked by a slime villain-
"What?!"
"HOLD ON AN EFFING MINUTE! DEKU GOT ATTACKED BY THAT THING FIRST?!", Bakugo roared, disbelieving the fact that they got attacked by the same villain on the same day.
"It seems so-wait, first?"
-and getting saved by All Might. Getting an autograph from his idol and hitching a ride on his leg.
"Because of course you would", Todoroki deadpanned, palming his face along with several others.
Izuku simply chuckled awkwardly.
Asking the hero an important question and getting his dreams crushed-
"WHAT."
"I can explain!", All Might shouted, panic on his face and blood dribbling down his chin at the angry looks thrown his way.
"Oh, you better!"
-and confronting the same slime villain to save Bakugo-
"Hell yeah man! That's our Midoriya!", Sato cheered, his classmates agreeing with him. This caused Izuku to flush red and duck his head.
-just to get chewed out by the heroes on the scene.
"BOO! Unsub!", Kaminari shouted, confusing many and making Jirou wish she was close enough to jab him with her jacks. Though they did agree with his general statement.
"That's horribly unprofessional of them", Iida said, frowning at Death Arms, Kamui Woods, and Mt. Lady onscreen.
Nezu simply frowned and noted something down on his notepad.
Later, he got yelled at by Bakugo and now he had All Might standing in front of him, having searched for him, and telling him that he could be a hero.
What had started as a typical bad day, had in but a moment turned into the best day of his life. It just couldn't get any better!
"Oh yes it can Deku!", Uraraka giggled, feeling happy for her best friend.
"I deem you worthy of inheriting my power!"
Izuku lifted his head, utter confusion etched onto his face.
"Huh?"
Some of the viewers started laughing, the look on Izuku's face being absolutely hilarious.
'Welp, guess I was wrong and right', Izuku thought to himself, a week later, panting with exhaustion.
"Huh, timeskip. Interesting."
"Guess we should have expected that. It IS a recording after all, so it makes sense that some part can be skipped."
Finding out that his idol's Quirk could be passed down like a torch and that he was chosen as the next holder of One for All was amazing.
Of course, also finding out that he was too weak in his current condition to wield it and had to go through a hellish training to gain enough muscles to wield it, was...less amazing.
"Well, you did use to be rather scrawny", Inko admitted to her son, who reluctantly agreed.
"Yeah...used to be...", Ashido mumbled, looking at Izuku with mischievous eyes. "Of course, now he is anything but scrawny."
Most of her classmates agreed, some coughing in embarrassment, all remembering an incident in training. A few weeks back, Izuku's costume got ripped and revealed their classmate's toned upper torso to them.
The image was something that was forever burned into their brains. Some were happier about it than others.
So, here he was hauling garbage, all in order to train. Luckily, Dagobah Beach had an overabundance of trash, people having been using it to dump their garbage for years.
Sounds of disgust rose from the room. They couldn't believe that some people would just throw their trash on a beach, practically covering it up with garbage.
"Some people are just the worst", Ojiro said with disgust.
Taking a deep breath, Izuku got in position and resumed his tugging. He had ropes over his shoulders, which led to a large fridge. With a roar, he managed to pull the fridge a few centimeters, before collapsing in exhaustion.
All Might, in his shrunken form, sighed and looked up at the sky.
"...uh. Well, everybody had to start somewhere, right?", Sato said, trying to console Izuku, who was blushing in embarrassment at his former self.
Almost a month later, Izuku was slowly carrying a dishwasher on his back, all the way to a dumpster up on the sidewalk. Tied around his torso was a rope, which he used to drag four car tires behind him. Sweat was dripping down his face and onto the sand below him.
"Now THAT'S what I call improvement!", Kirishima shouted.
"That was fast", Yaoyorozu said, blinking in surprise.
All Might watched with pride as his successor continued to get stronger. The determination of young Midoriya was something to behold, training beyond what any sane man would consider an unnatural limit.
A small frown appeared on his face.
It was actually concerning. More than once in the last month had he found his young student collapsed on the ground.
"Midoriya, have you been going overboard with your training?", Aizawa scowled at his student, who he knew had a penchant for ignoring his limits.
"I-I used to, but I'm not anymore! I stopped going above my limit...mostly", he said, whispering the last part.
Jirou's and Shoji's heads snapped to him, their enhanced hearing picking up his whisper.
"Green/Midoriya!"
"Young Midoriya! You need to stop! Your body can't handle this!", All Might shouted, shaking Izuku by the shoulders.
Said teenager was barely conscious, covered in sweat. He was incredibly pale and he had dark bags under his eyes.
They were in the middle of the beach, which had only half of the amount of garbage it had at the beginning.
That would have been okay if it weren't for the fact that it was barely three months after Midoriya started cleaning the beach.
"Midoriya!", his classmates shouted with concern.
"Dude, what the hell?! That's too much!", Jirou yelled, remembering what he had said a few minutes ago.
Eri, seeing her hero looking so ill, whimpered and burrowed her head into Izuku's side, gripping his right arm with a death grip.
"That...that didn't happen in our universe", Toshinori said, confused. Seeing everybody turn to him, he elaborated.
"While Young Midoriya did go overboard, he didn't go to THAT length. He only collapsed in complete exhaustion once, and after that, we reworked his training plan. But he never nearly worked himself to death!"
"Sooo, why did he nearly work himself to death in that universe? What's different?", Hagakure asked confused, sleeves indicating that she was scratching her head.
"Who knows? Maybe we'll find out later?"
"I...I can't...", he panted, "I need...to train harder...to get One for All...need to...become a...hero..."
All Might sighed. "Young Midoriya...while I admire your determination, you'll help no one if you break yourself before you can even get One for All. You need to. Slow. Down."
Looking into his mentor's eyes, Izuku sighed.
"...alright."
"That also counts for you Midoriya-kun", Nezu said, sipping tea. "You already got a warning to not stress your arms too much, didn't you?"
Izuku simply nodded, the scarred skin of his right arm twitching in phantom pain.
"Your classmates should also take this to heart. Getting over your limits is fine and good, but not if it cripples you."
Another month later, Izuku was humming a small tune to himself as he carried a fridge over his shoulder, looking a lot healthier than before.
Taking the advice of his mentor to heart, he dialed his training down a few pegs, sleeping more and leaving his Sundays as pure relaxation days.
His teachers nodded in satisfaction, while his classmates and mother sighed in relief.
This proved to be a good decision, as his body could finally repair the damage he had done to himself. To some obvious effects.
One could see the definition of his muscles through the green shorts and white shirt he was wearing, showing a vast improvement to how he looked before he started training.
"Daaayum Midori! Nice!", Ashido whistled, throwing a thumbs-up at the blushing greenhead.
Placing the fridge next to the pick-up truck All Might had parked, he wiped the sweat off his forehead. He looked over the beach and beamed with pride.
While slower than a month ago, he was still making good progress in cleaning the beach, only about a third of the garbage still remaining. This was mostly the really tiny stuff and large stuff like the Dodge Charger at the edge of the beach.
"Seriously? Even a car? Have they no shame?"
"That's just...so dumb! I mean, just look at that beach! Why cover it up with trash?!"
"Some people just don't care I guess."
"What pisses me off, is that it's an old-timer and an expensive one at that."
Narrowing his eyes in determination, he made his way to the car.
"...Midoriya, NO!"
Standing before it, he looked over its rusty frame. It was actually in pretty good shape if you ignore the missing windows and accumulated rust.
"Hm...eh, why not", he said to himself, shrugging. Pulling on a pair of worker's gloves, he crouched down and gripped the car under its rear. Taking a deep breath, he tensed.
And lifted.
Metal groaned as the old vehicle rose off the ground, sand falling from the car back onto the beach. His shirt strained to contain his frame as every muscle in his body tensed.
Jaws dropped as they watched a quirkless teen Izuku lift a nearly two-ton heavy car.
Ashido dropped her popcorn, her mouth flapping open, while Hagakure waved her arms around, babbling incoherently.
"Oh my, that is impressive", Yaoyorozu muttered, cupping a cheek, a slight dusting of red on it. Asui nodded in agreement, ribbiting lightly. Uraraka was floating in the air, completely unresponsive.
"Badass...", Jirou whispered, staring with wide eyes.
"T-that's without a Quirk?", Kaminari stammered, eyes wide. Mineta simply fainted, a dark foreboding encompassing him. 'Damn...clueless...cinnamon roll beefcake!'
Sato and Soji looked at their arms and flexed, wondering if they could do the same.
"Damn", Ojiro said, blinking in surprise.
"What a mad banquet of darkness", Tokoyami said, while Dark Shadow peered over his shoulder, whistling impressed.
Koda clapped his hands, also impressed with his fellow cinnamon bun's feat of strength.
"C'est impressionnant!", Aoyama cried out, sparkling turned up to the max.
Bakugo gritted his teeth, crossing his arms in front of his chest. "I could do the same", he grumbled, while Sero clapped him on the shoulder.
"'Course you could buddy", he chuckled, dodging the explosion thrown at his face.
Todoroki, while tilting to the side to not get hit by Iida chopping, wrote something in his notebook, looking between Izuku and All Might.
Izuku himself merely looked at his counterpart's technique with critique, mentally noting what he could do better. His mother simply watched, not really surprised, having gotten used to Izuku lifting the furniture at home when vacuuming. Their apartment had never been this clean.
Aizawa sighed in exasperation, massaging his forehead and doing his best to ignore the cackling of the chimera to his right and the proud beaming of his colleague to his left.
"M-m-...MANLY!", Kirishima roared, using his Quirk out of pure reflex. Eri, who had watched her savior onscreen with awe, jumped up at the loud noise.
Tilting her head curiously and lifting her arms, she copied the loud teen, squeaking out a "Manly?". Looking at Izuku to see if she got it right, she missed Kirishima holding his chest and collapsing.
While the girls (and only the girls!, the boys and Jirou would insist when later asked) squealed at the adorable sight, Izuku chuckled and nodded at Eri, patting her head. Smiling in satisfaction, the little Unicorn sat back down.
Once Kirishima had been revived via Kaminaris lightning and Bakugo's yelling, they continued watching.
Grunting, he started dragging the car back to the sidewalk, kicking away the washing machine in his path. Pausing slightly to curse under his breath, he continued, ignoring his throbbing big toe.
"Who kicks a washing machine? Strong or not, that will still hurt", Ojiro said, shaking his head.
Arriving at the sidewalk, Izuku put the car down to catch his breath. He looked at the stairs leading up to the sidewalk and looked back down at the car. Humming in thought, he stared at the wall keeping the beach and sidewalk separate and did a few stretches.
"Wait, he isn't going to...?", Uraraka asked in concern.
"I think he is", Jirou said, not even surprised anymore.
Rolling his shoulders and slapping his cheeks lightly, Izuku crouched down and started lifting the car again. Grunting with exertion, he lifted the rear higher and higher, sweat running down his face and back.
Lifting it as high as possible, he ignored the sand falling onto him and, with a roar, pushed forward. Hearing the sound of tires hitting concrete, he slowly started letting go. Feeling it stay in its elevated position, he stepped out of under it and looked at his handy work.
"Hey, Midoriya?", Kaminari shouted at his classmate.
"Y-yeah Kaminari?"
"Can you, like, not be badass for a few moments? Kinda feeling all my male ego leaving me here", he said, half-joking and half-serious.
"Did you even have any Jamming Whey?", Jirou teased, causing the viewers to laugh or at least chuckle.
He sat down and took a few minutes to breathe. Leaning against the car, he thought about how long it would take to clean the remaining garbage. At the rate he was going, it would take him two, maybe three more months before he finished.
And then...
A determined expression crossed his face.
"Alright, let's go."
Grabbing the front of the car, which was still on the ground, he started lifting it. That was the easy part. The hard part was pushing the entire car forward, inch by inch pushing it onto the sidewalk.
After a few minutes of pushing, he finally got it onto the sidewalk and collapsed onto the sand, panting with exhaustion. As the chilly air soothed his sore muscles, he laughed happily.
"Why is he laughing?", Hagakure asked, scratching her head.
"It's most likely the dopamine. He worked out and his brain rewarded him for that", Yaoyorozu explained, while trying to ignore how the alternate universe's Izuku's shirt clung to his sweaty body.
"Oh, I see!", Ashido said while paying extra attention to the shirt.
Stopping as a shadow fell over him, he looked up, seeing All Might in a heavy coat and a scarf standing over him.
"I thought we agreed not to go overboard?", his mentor asked him.
Laughing awkwardly, Izuku struggled up, accepting the helping hand.
"I know, I know. But this was more proving to myself that I can do it, more than going above my limits", he explained. Dusting off the sand off his clothes, he and All Might ascended the stairs.
"Well, you did manage to push a car up the wall, so I guess good job. Now, what are you going to do with it? It's too big for the pick-up truck and I don't have a tow truck."
Izuku scratched his head. "Uh, I don't know. I didn't think this far ahead", he said, before joking, "Well, I do want to have one in the future, so why buy one when you can drag one from the dump, right?"
"Please do not obtain a car from the dump, Midoriya-kun!", Iida said, chopping his hand.
"D-don't worry Iida-kun, I won't", Izuku assured his friend.
Both laughed at that. After a while of simply staring at the setting sun, All Might clapped Izuku on the shoulder. "Why don't you go home a little earlier today? I'd say you met your quota for today already with this one here", he patted the rusty hood of the car, "and, to be frank, you need a shower Young Midoriya."
Sniffing his armpit and grimacing, Izuku agreed and started jogging home, All Might looking after him. Once Izuku got out of sight, All Might looked down at the car and hummed in thought.
Pulling his phone out, he dialed a number and waited. Once he heard a "Hello?" from the other line, he smiled.
"Hello, is this Mustufa Racers? The workshop on the corner to Mon Eiley? Yes? Wonderful, I have a request for you."
"Holy cheese crackers, I think All Might's getting you a car Deku", Uraraka exclaimed.
"It appears so Young Uraraka", Toshinori agreed. "Most likely as a reward for finishing his training or maybe getting into U.A., if he is going where I think he's going."
"Damn, that's awesome dude", Sero said.
"Y-yeah, although it would be rather useless until I had my license", Izuku said.
"Yeah, but imagine how cool you would be with a Dodge Charger as your starter car", Kaminari retorted, slightly jealous.
Two months before the deadline set by him, on a late evening, All Might was driving to the beach to check on his protege's progress. Considering that he had to leave for two weeks in order to assist in a case further south, he was somewhat worried that Young Midoriya went overboard again.
"Always worry that the Problem Child is going overboard", Aizawa said to his colleague, pure exhaustion in every word.
"I-I'm not that bad, right guys?", Izuku asked his classmates. Seeing them shift and cough, he slumped slightly.
"Oh. S-sorry, I'll try to tone it down", he promised, to the relief of his friends and mother.
Parking at his usual spot, he locked his car and walked down the stairs to the beach. 'Hm...he has been making good progress. Maybe I should take him somewhere as a reward? Or maybe to celebrate how far he came?', he mused to himself, stepping onto the sand. Looking up, a sudden thought struck him.
"Where's the garbage?"
"He cleaned the entire beach, didn't he?", Tokoyami asked with a sigh. His classmates simply nodded in agreement.
Izuku tilted his head confused. "That's two whole months before I did. The differences just keep piling up", he muttered, writing something down in his notebook.
A sound reached his ears and turned to the right. There, atop a massive pile of trash, stood his successor. Even from here, All Might could hear him roaring in victory.
"Hey hey hey! Are you telling me he already finished?! He even cleaned beyond the area I marked! Oh! My! GOD!", he shouted, buffing into his muscular form.
"Really?", Aizawa asked his fellow teacher, who just chuckled good-naturally.
"Damn Midoriya, you really went Plus Ultra on that beach, didn't you?", Sero asked.
Seeing the young teen starting to fall forward, he dashed to the pile and managed to catch his protege. Looking down at the panting and sweating form of Izuku, he felt a sense of pride.
"I...I did it All Might", Izuku said, looking up at his mentor with a tired smile.
"That you did, Young Midoriya, that you did."
"Hmmmmmmmmm."
"Todoroki-kun, just...no."
Placing the teen on his feet, All Might looked him over. Izuku was only wearing light-green track pants and his signature red shoes, allowing him to see the way Izuku had bulked up.
"Just look at yourself Young Midoriya! You have come far", he praised, showing Izuku a photo of himself eight months back.
"Cough, Proud Dad Might, Cough", Ashido fake-coughed, smirking at the way Izuku and Toshinori turned into spluttering messes.
It was a stark contrast. The Izuku on the photo was scrawny and his clothes hung off him.
Now he had no shirts that fit him anymore, as his shoulders and back had become broader to accommodate his growing muscles. His biceps had gone from twig-like to a healthy bulkier form.
All Might was proud to notice a well-defined six-pack, bordering on eight-pack, on his successor's stomach. His pecs were similarly well defined, droplets of sweat running down the valleys between muscles.
"Yes."
"Oh my."
"Yes!"
"You could grate cheese on those!"
"YES!"
"Am I the only one who wants to see if a baseball would break against his chest?"
"YES!"
"Ashido! Enough!"
"Never! Mama likes!"
Seeing the proud look in All Might's eyes, Izuku felt his eyes tear up.
"Young Midoriya. You're ready."
Everybody tensed and held their breath, realizing what was about to happen.
"R-really?"
All Might nodded and looked over the cleaned beach. "Yes, I truly believe you earned the right to wield One for All. You went above and beyond, shattering my expectations. I couldn't imagine anyone else being more worthy than you."
He lost the struggle against his tears and felt them run down his face.
"I-it feels like I haven't earned it, that I'm somehow cheating...just getting handed such a powerful Quirk..."
Many a viewer felt for the green-haired hero-to-be. They wanted to assure him that he earned it, more than anyone else, but also didn't want to interrupt the scene.
"Young Midoriya...someone very wise once told me, that there is a difference between getting something handed to them, and having earned something. You've worked for this, broke through your limits, nearly broke yourself for this.
Believe me. You have earned this. No doubts about it."
While they didn't voice it, his classmates agreed with All Might.
They had the last school year as proof of it, after all.
Still crying Izuku ducked his head and hiccuped, feeling once again thankful that he met his mentor.
"Now...", All Might said, while plucking a hair from his head, "EAT THIS!"
...wat.
...wat.
Looking up, Izuku stared dumbfounded at his mentor. "Bwua?"
All Might scratched his head awkwardly. "Look, you have to ingest some of my DNA to inherit One for All and this was the least disgusting way."
"B-but-"
"Look, there is no other way, now eat. Eat. EAT!"
"...agree to never talk about this?"
"Deal."
After a moment that mentor and student agreed to never speak of again, Izuku looked down at his arms. "Should something be happening now? I don't feel any different."
"You have to give it some time, your body still has to digest it. My advice is, go home and rest for tomorrow. We will test out your new quirk and then, we will start your training for U.A.!", All Might told him, clapping his massive hand on the shorter male's shoulder.
"Alright", Izuku agreed and went to fetch his shirt and jacket.
"Aw", Ashido pouted, causing the girls next to her to sigh, except Hagakure who agreed.
The next morning, Izuku was stretching, wearing black track pants and a green shirt with 'Hoodie' written on it. "What is it with you and these shirts?", an approaching All Might asked, clad in a heavy winter coat.
"Yeah man, what's up with that?", Kirishima asked Izuku.
Izuku simply lifted a finger and pointed at the TV.
"Oh! Morning All Might. I wear it because it pisses off my peers and I enjoy their suffering due to my lacking fashion sense", he said with a bright smile. All Might sweatdropped at that.
"...are you for real? How passive-aggressive is that?"
Izuku just smiled and motioned to Bakugo. Said exploding teen was gritting his teeth and had a twitching eye.
"...aight, point taken."
"Uh...alright, I guess", he said, before shaking his head. "Anyway, that's not why we're here. You feel something already?"
"Yep! It feels strange. Like I have something running through my veins, you know? Like that time I drank six gallons of coffee to binge-watch all American Defenders movies."
"...how old were you when you did that?"
"Seven or eight, I think? Why?"
"...that explains so much."
"Izuku, please tell me that only happened in that universe", Inko asked her son. Izuku evaded eye contact and whistled innocently.
"Oh Izuku..."
"Moving on, try to call upon that feeling and use it to punch."
"Alright, what should I punch?"
"Just a basic punch at the air for now. I want to see how much power you can use."
Izuku shrugged. "Alright."
"Am I the only one that just got a random feeling of dread?", Sato asked.
"Nope.", "I feel it too.", "He's gonna do something stupid."
"Ah, good to know."
Taking a deep breath, he entered a simple boxing stance and winded up a punch. He felt for the well of endless energy that manifested last night and moved its energy to his right arm.
Feeling the unbridled energy coursing through his body and into his arm, he smiled. Clenching his fist and tensing his muscles, he let the energy rest in his fist for a while.
And then, he punched.
"SMASH!"
Sand exploded as a raging torrent of force erupted from his position. All Might had to buff up to not be blown away and protected his face with his arms.
Once the dust and sand settled back to the ground, he looked up and felt his eyes go wide.
A massive crater of sand was in the middle of the beach, a straight trench leading from it to the ocean, as wide as two bussed side by side. The trench continued, parting the ocean all the way to the horizon, before the water finally splashed back into place, waves forming at the sudden disturbance.
"SWEET BABY JESUS!"
"WHAT IN THE ACTUAL HECK?!"
To say that the viewers were shocked was an understatement. They watched with wide eyes at the line of destruction a simple punch had caused and had trouble connecting that with what they were used to from their meek classmate.
"Hm, that seems to be about 70% of my full power", Toshinori said, looking at the scene with something akin to fatherly pride.
"70%?! That wasn't even full power?!", Hagakure screeched, the viewers' shock growing.
"Of course not", All Might said with a wave, "he still has some growing to do. When he reaches his prime, around 21 to 25 years old, he should be way more powerful."
Silence descended onto the group, switching between staring at the TV, All Might, and their Izuku, who was watching Eri stand on the couch, imitating him throwing a punch.
"Holy sh-", All Might started to say, blood dribbling down his chin, but was interrupted by Izuku.
"Uh, All Might? Would you mind if I start screaming in pain?"
Looking at his protege, All Might felt himself get numb at the sight of Izuku's right arm. It was deep purple, from fingertips to shoulder and hanging limply by his side.
"Oh god, Young Midoriya! Don't worry, I'll get you to a hospital immediately!"
"I'll take that as a no. MOTHERFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-"
"Le Gasp! Midori swore!", Ashido cried out, ignoring Aoyama's offended "Excusez moi?".
"Did you just say 'Le Gasp'?", Jirou asked confused, looking at her pink classmate with a raised eyebrow.
"Jesus, his arm looks like it doesn't have any bones anymore", Sero said, looking queasy. A greenish Kaminari agreed, looking like he desperately wanted to have a bag or bucket.
Inko, who was shielding Eri's eyes with her hands, looked at her son with motherly concern.
"Izuku, t-that doesn't happen anymore, right?", she asked, looking at him with pleading eyes.
"Don't worry mom, that only happens when I use 100%. I'm only using 30%, at most, when fighting", he assured her, unknowingly reminding his classmates that he's holding back in every spar he has with them.
Something that they're thankful for now, not wanting to be turned to fleshy sludge.
"That's why you don't tell somebody who just inherited your Quirk, capable of destroying buildings, to punch away. They get injured", Aizawa told Toshinori with his Quirk active, the retired hero just nodding meekly.
"Fascinating", Nezu muttered, writing in his notepad with a gleam in his eyes.
"Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!"
Izuku awoke to the sound of an elderly voice yelling. The voice sounded kinda familiar. Opening his eyes, stinging with pain at the harsh light, he turned his head to the left.
He was laying on a hospital bed, in what looked like a nurse's office.
Izuku and Toshinori paled. "Oh no."
Standing next to his bed, was All Might, in his shrunken form, cowering and protecting head with his arms, as a short, elderly woman in a nurse's outfit was beating him over the head with a cane shaped like a syringe.
Snorts of laughter rose from the viewers, seeing the Symbol of Peace cowering in front of a person three times smaller than him.
'Recovery Girl?', he thought confused, and tried to get up, only to groan in pain. Looking down, he saw that his right arm was in a heavy cast, leaving only his purplish fingertips to be seen.
'What the-oh, right...the beach.'
The two adults, hearing him groan, turned around to face him.
"Young Midoriya! You're alright!", All Might said relieved, rushing to his bedside.
Ashido smirked and opened her mouth.
"No", Jirou said, placing her jacks in front of Ashido's face.
"Y-yeah, just feeling a little sore", he said, still struggling to sit up.
"Stay still young'un", Recovery Girl said, stepping on a stool placed next to the bed. She pulled out a flashlight and started a basic set of medical tests.
"Hmph, well you don't have a concussion, which is a miracle, considering you were at the epicenter of whatever reduced the bones in your arm to splinters."
"Splinters?!"
"If it weren't for the practically unholy amount of stamina you had, I wouldn't have been able to heal your arm as well as I could", she explained, ignoring the way his face paled.
"Next time sweetie, try not to use a Quirk as old as Quirks itself at full power for your first time, yes?"
Izuku nodded, gripping his right arm as hard as he dared without hurting himself. Suddenly his head shot up.
"Wait, you know?!", he blurted out with wide eyes.
"Wait, does our Recovery Girls also know about One for All?", Ojiro asked Izuku and All Might.
All Might nodded and answered. "She, along with Principal Nezu, a detective friend of mine called Tsukauchi, David Shield, and my old teacher Gran Torino know about it through various means."
What went unsaid, was that Sir Nighteye, his old sidekick, also had known about it, but his death was still too raw to speak about.
Recovery Girl scoffed.
"Of course I know, who do you think is this big oaf's physician?", she replied, jabbing All Might with her cane.
"Oh..."
"Anyway, you better get home and rest for at least a week. After that, come back here, so I can finish healing you. And no more breaking bones!", she barked at them, glowering with all the force an elderly nurse can muster.
Which, as many can attest to, is a lot.
Cue Toshinori and Izuku shivering, flashbacks haunting them.
"So. Many. Needles."
Seeing them meekly nod in agreement, she huffed and went back to her small side office.
Once she was gone, both breathed a quiet sigh of relief.
"I heard that!"
Panicking, All Might buffed up, grabbed Izuku, and dashed out of the office.
"Damn, you're really scared of her, aren't you, ribbit? Even though for that Midoriya-chan, it's his first time meeting her", Tsuyu croaked, slightly ribbiting in laughter.
"You would be too", Izuku muttered.
"But we don't need to go visit her almost every day, unlike someone we all know", Shoji pointed out, eyes crinkling in amusement.
"...well, I can't argue with that now, can I?"
The class erupted in laughter.
Coming to a stop outside U.A., All Might placed Izuku back on the ground. "Alright, I don't think she can hear us anymore...I hope."
Dusting himself off, Izuku sighed. "Guess we have to postpone my training for a week. I have the feeling that ignoring Recovery Girl's orders would be a bad choice."
"That is a wise decision young Midoriya", All Might said. "And there's no need to hurry, we still have enough time to train you in the use of One for All. You still have two years before you can apply to U.A. anyway. Plenty of time to train."
One could practically hear the record scratch as everyone processed this latest bit of information.
"Wait, WHAT?!"
"Pause the recording!"
Aizawa numbly hit the button.
"What the heck is going on with that universe?! I get that there will be differences, some very big ones even, but how the frick did they get the dates wrong?!", Uraraka exclaimed.
"Well, there's an easy way to find out", Nezu interjected before it could descend into chaos.
"Guide-san, could you please tell us what's up with the wrong date in that universe?"
Facepalms ensued in the moments after the question, people not believing they forgot that they had a freaking Virtual Intelligence they could ask.
Certainly. In this particular universe, U.A. is a university. The government has decided to lift the minimum age to become a licensed hero. As such, the decision to turn hero schools into universities.
"Thank you Guide-san", Nezu said with a smile.
"Oh, that makes sense", Yaoyorozu said. "I think there had been the talk about doing the same in our universe, but it has been rejected as it would be too expensive to overhaul the entire system."
Her classmates nodded in understanding.
Aizawa, seeing that no one had any questions, unpaused the recording
"Yeah, I guess you're right", Izuku sighed, moving his arm to scratch the back of his head, only to remember that it was in a cast. Looking down at it, he suddenly gained a wide-eyed expression and went from pale to ghostly-white.
"Young Midoriya? You okay?", All Might asked in concern.
Looking up at him, the Symbol of Peace was taken aback by the sheer fear and dread in his successor's eyes.
"All Might", he asked hoarsely, "How am I gonna explain this to my mom?"
"Oh you're effed now Deku!", Bakugo cackled, full of vicious glee.
All Might blinked, before paling.
"Oh fuck."
"Language!", Iida barked, while Inko and Izuku covered Eri's ears.
"You do know he can't hear you, right prez?", Jirou asked with a deadpan.
"Damn Mamadoriya, even All Might's scared of making you mad", Ashido laughed, while Inko blushed, muttering 'Mamadoriya?' under her breath.
Eri, ever curious, repeated what the girl calling herself her horn-buddy said. "Mamadoriya?"
Inko squeaked and nearly fainted.
Ashido laughed. "No no, Eri-chan. You should her Grandmadoriya!", she said, a smirk growing on her face. Yaoyorozu, realizing where the pink girl was heading, got wide eyes.
"Ashido, no!"
But Ashido showed no mercy.
"You know, cause Midori's your Papadoria!"
...
Utter silence reigned.
Until it was broken by snorts of laughter or groans of frustration. Some people facepalmed whole others fell off the couches, holding their sides in laughter.
Izuku? Izuku fainted on the spot, face so red it caused heatwaves, his mother close behind him.
Nezu cackled in glee, ignoring the way Toshinori was stuck between laughing and coughing blood, or the way Aizawa was slamming his forehead into the coffee table.
And in the middle of this pandemonium, Ashido just smirked to herself in satisfaction, looking like a smug imp.
In all this commotion, no one noticed Eri tilt her head in thought and repeat a few words to herself.
It took nearly half an hour for everybody to calm down and for the Midoriya's return to consciousness.
Once they did, they resumed watching.
A year later, Izuku was smiling to himself.
"Woah, that's a big-time skip", Kirishima said.
"Wonder why such a big one this time?"
"Who knows?"
It had been an eventful year for him since he got One for All. There was the talk with his mother about his training and new Quirk.
"I'm not mad, just disappointed."
"Ouch."
"Damn, that's gotta sting."
The start of his training with One for All.
"Alright, let's try it with 50%."
"That's still too much!"
"He's gonna break something again."
A second visit to Recovery Girl.
"Really? I said no more breaking bones!"
"Called it."
The start of his training with All Might.
"Come on Young Midoriya! Punch me!"
"B-but-"
"I said punch me! Or I'll punch you!"
"Wait, wha-?"
"Really?", Aizawa asked.
Toshinori just shrugged.
More visits to Recovery Girl.
"What did I say about breaking bones?!"
"B-but it wasn't my fault this time!"
"...Tooooshiiii!"
"Damn, throwing All Might under the bus? Not bad Green", Jirou said to the mortified greenhead, while Toshinori stared at him with betrayal in his eyes.
The start of his training with...him.
"What's your name?"
"M-midoriya Izuku, Sir."
"What?"
"I said Midoriya Izuku, Sir."
"What?"
"...you're messing with me, aren't you?"
"Think fast!"
"Wait, whajshdjsadk-"
Both Toshinori and Izuku stiffened, legs trembling.
"G-Gran Torino!"
Even more visits to Recovery Girl.
"Toooshiii-"
"It wasn't me!"
"...Soooooraaaaa!"
'...huh, so that's what revenge tastes like", both thought, a smirk of pure satisfaction on their faces.
The creation of Full Cowl.
"Hey, that Midoriya created the same technique as you!"
"Well, he trained under G-Gran Torino, so it makes he would learn the same things as me."
"Brat, what the hell is that?"
"It's my new technique! I call it Full Cowl!"
"Hm. Can you move like that?"
"I think so."
"Good. Think fast!"
"Wait, no-! Gahk! My liver..."
Everyone winced at the whimper following the latest part.
And what he hopes was his last visit to Recovery Girl.
"R-Recovery Girl?"
"..."
"W-why are you so quiet?"
"..."
"Y-you're starting to scare me-what are you doing with that syringe? Recovery Girl? Recovery Girl!? Wait, no, please, I'll be more careful, please show mercy-!"
"...so. Now it's your turn, you two overgrown children."
"Meep."
"...Recovery Girl is scary."
"We told you!"
Shivering at the memory, he focused on the here and now. To be more precise, the decommissioned small plane hurtling his way.
"That should be more important than recalling memories Midoriya!"
"Don't yell at me! I don't do that!"
"..."
"...right?"
Grinning he called upon One for All and activated Full Cowl at 15%. Green lightning-like energy started branching off his body and he got into a stance, arms outstretched to catch the plane about to impact him.
It hit him hands-first and he skidded backward, before digging his heels in and stopping himself.
Digging his fingers into the metal, he turned with the momentum, spinning a full circle, the plane in tow. With a tensing of his muscles, he released the plane at just the right moment, sending it back at his mentor.
Said mentor just laughed and backhanded the plane away. The rusted metal of the plane couldn't take any more abuse and broke apart even before hitting the ground of the old airplane strip they were on.
"Now that's training! Manly!", Kirishima shouted with sparkling eyes.
"Manly!", Eri squeaked out, determined to get as much use as possible out of the thing she recently learned.
Much to the delight of the viewers. There was just something about seeing the little Unicorn being happy that made them feel content.
"Not bad, Young Midoriya! How about we kick things up a notch?"
Rolling his shoulders, Izuku replied by kicking off and dashing at his mentor with a cocked fist and a wide grin.
All Might laughed. "I'll take that as a yes!" Winding up his own punch, he also dashed forward, meeting Izuku in the middle of the field.
Their fists collided in a cloud of dust and debris. Some distance away, a small elderly man grunted and looked up from his book.
"Youngsters", he huffed and turned back to his book of '1001 Crossword Puzzles to feel smart about!'.
Izuku and All Might snorted, looking at each other with amusement in their eyes.
"That Deku is a lot more confident", Uraraka commented. The Deku of their universe would never just straight up attack his mentor like that. He would have tried to attack from the back, trying to use his speed rather than his strength.
"Yeah, another difference. We have quite a pile already, don't we?", Nezu commented, looking down at his notepad.
"Well, questions for Guide later."
Another year had passed and Izuku now stood in front of the entrance to U.A. He may have been here already whenever it necessary to visit Recovery Girl, but this felt different. This time, he was here to take the Entrance Exam.
He shouldn't feel nervous. After nearly three years of constant training, two of those with One for All, he was better prepared than anybody else for this.
And yet he was still terrified of messing up and disappointing everybody who put their expectations on him.
"Oh no, poor guy", Hagakure said, hands cupping her cheeks.
"Yeah, having all those expectations from people like All Might and Gran Torino on his shoulders would be crushing for anyone", Ojiro agreed.
Taking a deep breath and slapping his cheeks, he rose to his full height and made his way into the facility.
-Nx-
Iida Tenya prepared himself for the exam, stretching his legs.
"Iida, it's you!", Uraraka said in surprise.
"Indeed. I wonder why the sudden change of perspective?"
"Maybe to show how Midoriya appears from an outsider's perspective?", Yaoyorozu theorized.
He looked around, frowning at seeing people not taking their preparation phase seriously. Talking to each other, cracking jokes.
"Damn prez, you gotta chill down a little", Jirou said to her stiff classmate.
Well, most of them, he admitted to himself. Some just were too nervous to prepare themselves or were also preparing, like him.
Amongst them was the one currently stretching his back. Standing at 1 meter and 90 centimeters, the green-haired exam taker was only wearing red shoes, light green shorts, and a black muscle shirt.
The tight shirt showed off the impressive musculature of the teenager. Well-defined muscles bulged whenever he stretched, making the lithe figure look like it could tear through steel with ease.
"Oh sweet Jesus, he got hotter", Ashido blurted out, eyes bulging at the sight of the older Izuku.
"Midoriya, seriously, let me keep at least this last sliver of male pride I have", Kaminari begged, staring at the bulging biceps on screen.
"He looks like a slimmer version of All Might", Shoji commented, while Sato was comparing the muscles of the older Izuku with his own.
Iida had to admit, there was some slight jealously at the leg muscles that looked like coiled steel cables.
'At least he looks like has been training for this', he thought and went back to his stretches.
Suddenly, he heard Present Mic shout "GO!", and while he was standing confused on the starting zone, along with the other exam takers, the green-haired teenager disappeared in a green blur.
"WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! THERE ARE NO COUNTDOWNS IN REAL LIFE!"
Shaking his head, he shifted into first gear and dashed into the exam zone, ahead of the others. Arriving on the first street, he felt his eyes widen at the carnage in front of him.
Destroyed robots were scattered all over the street, some embedded into the asphalt and the walls of the surrounding houses. Others looked like they were ripped apart and others looked simply crushed flat.
"Holy crap, you work fast Midoriya", Sero commented, looking in awe at the destruction. Bakugo felt himself agreeing, feeling something that felt like pride as he stared at the carnage wrought by his former best friend.
Seeing flashes of green lightning and cackles of laughter up ahead, he decided to go in another direction, away from the battle-hungry maniac.
"Oh god, my son's a battle maniac", Inko muttered, making her son splutter denials and his classmates laugh.
"Well, at least now we know why Midoribro and Bakubro get along so well", Kirishima joked, Hardening to tank the explosion from Bakugo.
Izuku sighed as he crushed the head of a Two Pointer, throwing the sparking remains at a One Pointer creeping up to an exam taker with hammers for hands.
He had expected...more. It wasn't easy, but it also wasn't difficult. His knuckles were barely stinging from punching robots and he wasn't even winded. He lost count of his points somewhere around 50 points, so he wasn't sure how many he still needed, but he guessed he had enough.
Concentrating more on helping other exam takers that were in over their heads, he dashed at a Three Pointer giving an exam taker covered in scales trouble. Gripping the robot, he lifted it in the air and tore it in two.
"Okay, confident Midoriya is awesome", Hagakure stated, enjoying the view.
"Yeah. I'm not the one unsurprised that he decided to help other exam takers, right?", Sato asked.
"It's expected. Midoriya is someone who will always strive to help others", Tokoyami answered.
Nodding to the scaled boy, he continued, jumping all over the place and helping out.
He was in the middle of lifting the remains of a One Pointer off a girl having antlers when he felt the ground shake. Frowning, he lifted the girl up and jumped a building, looking for the source of the disturbance.
"Aaaaaand there comes the 0 Pointer", everybody who took the entrance exam deadpanned.
His jaw dropped at the absolute massive form of the 0 Pointer. He felt a grin growing on his face and kicked off, green lighting trailing behind him.
"Like, we joked about it, but this Midoriya really is a battle maniac, isn't he?"
"Yeah...feels strange, but yet kind of right. Anybody else got that feeling?"
"Same.", "Ditto.", "I feel ya."
It was while he was leaping over a street full of fleeing exam takers that he noticed someone stuck under a large piece of debris. Changing course, he let himself fall and rolled to a stop near them.
"Ah yes, the knight in shining shorts arrives."
"Hi there", he told the girl while lifting the debris off of her, "I'm Midoriya Izuku, and you?"
"U-uraraka Ochako."
"Nice to meet you Uraraka-san. Think you can move?"
"N-no, I don't think so, my ankle hurts. I think I twisted it."
"Look at you Midori, not even a single stutter while talking to a girl", she teased, satisfied at seeing him blush.
Grunting, he threw it up at the 0 Pointer, hitting right in the face. Seeing it ignore the cloud of dust and chunks of rock, he sighed and lifted Uraraka onto his shoulder.
"Hold on."
"W-wha-"
They moved.
From the perspective of Uraraka they were in one spot one moment, and in another spot the next moment. Midoriya placed her next to some other exam takers who were watching them with wide eyes.
"Green bean go 'brr-"
"Jamming Whey, I swear to god, finish that sentence and I'm coming over there."
"..."
"That's what I thought."
"Look after her, would you?"
"W-where are you going?", a boy with claws asked him. He got a wide, feral grin in return.
"...that grin has no right to be that hot."
"I'ma go punch the giant robot."
"Midoriya, no!"
"Midoriya, yes!"
Everybody turned to stare shocked at the principal, who was grinning at the TV and holding a...cam recorder?
(Wait, what? Mel, I didn't tell you to write that. It's Nezu. Uh... I rest my case.)
Nezu turned to his students and lifted an eyebrow.
"What? I can't enjoy some senseless destruction, just because I'm the principal?"
"...alright...moving on..."
Not giving them any chance to respond, he dashed away. Leaping from wall to wall, he got steadily higher and higher. With each jump, he built up his momentum, lightning becoming thicker and more erratic.
Until finally, he was in height with the 0 Pointer's headpiece. With a massive grin and a cloak of green lightning branching out to the metal buildings around him, the sun cloaking his face in shadows, Izuku would never know that he caused the programming of the gigantic robot to stall, as it tried to process an unknown sensation.
As a certain, future A.I.-
"Wait, what?!"
-would much, much later realize, the 0 Pointer, created and programmed with the simple intent to destroy...
"RAILGUN-"
Felt fear.
"You made an emotionless robot feel fear?"
"...damn. That's hot, ribbit."
"Tsu, what the actual fu-"
"Language!"
Izuku would never know.
But he would forever remember the feeling of blasting off in midair and temporarily igniting the air around him. He would remember punching straight through the head of the 0 Pointer, making solid metal yield to his fist, leaving behind a molten hole the size of a minivan.
"-SMASH!"
He shot towards the ground and skidded to a halt, leftover energy melting the ground around him, leaving behind a trench of molten asphalt. Behind him, the motionless 0 Pointer finally started falling, metal screeching and buildings groaning as it fell like a titan of old.
And then sound caught up, a loud boom echoing through the fake city, every single window in it shattering from the shockwave and raining down the glass in a sparkling rain.
A massive cloud of dust and small debris was lifted as it impacted the ground, shaking the entire testing ground. The exam takers gawked in disbelief and awe as Izuku walked out of the cloud, body steaming and slightly sparking with energy.
His wide, feral grin still on his face.
"Midoriya, I literally begged you. Now you have to take responsibility for the death of my ego."
"Um...sorry?"
"...damnit, I can't stay mad at you."
Sero clapped him on the shoulder.
"If it's any consolation, I think every male here lost their ego at that."
"Thanks bro. A salute for our dead egos."
The girls stared in bemusement as almost every boy saluted, somehow managing to look serious while doing it.
Aizawa sighed and massaged his forehead.
"This class..."
-Nx-
The teachers stared at the monitors with wide eyes. Nezu, sitting on his special chair, took a sip of his tea and typed something on his tablet.
"Yagi-san, you wouldn't happen to know who this boy is, would you?", the chimera asked with a knowing glint in his eyes.
All Might, shrunken down and wearing an ill-fitting suit, just smiled in pride.
"That...that is Midoriya Izuku. A splendid hero in the making."
And then the screen cut black.
They waited for a while. When nothing happened for a while, Kirishima broke the silence.
"Wait. That's it? What about his year at school? The USJ? Come on, show us more!"
His classmates agreed with him and started chanting "Show us more!"
"Enough!", Aizawa barked, eyes glowing red. Seeing everyone immediately settle down, he grunted.
"If that is all we'll get to see, then it's all we'll get to see. Acting like elementary school children won't change anything about it."
"Sorry Sensei", most of his class muttered.
"Good. And in case you have forgotten, the UnViBox, or whatever it's called, scans the recordings we already saw. So there is a chance we will see more of it if you show patience."
"...oh, right, there was something like that, wasn't there?"
Sighing at the sheepish realization of the students, Aizawa collapsed back into the couch.
"Now that that excitement is over, I think it's time we ask Guide-san some questions, yes?", Nezu took over, a smile on his snout.
Seeing the excitement in his students' eyes, he chuckled and waved them down.
"Now now, no shouting, yes? Everybody who has a question gets to ask Guide-san one, alright?"
His students nodded and some started already thinking up a question to ask.
"Now, to give you some time to think of a question, I will go first. Everyone in agreement?"
Hearing no objections, he turned to the TV, where Guide's avatar was once again floating. Nezu paused momentarily, taking the appearance of the avatar in. It seemed...softer. Not as many harsh lines as it had before.
Saving that tidbit of information for later, he addressed the V.I.
"Are you up for answering our questions, Guide-san?"
The artificial voice of Guide sounded from the hidden speakers, also sounding less harsh than before, Nezu noted.
Certainly. Please, ask your questions. I will answer them to the best of my programming.
"Wonderful!", Nezu said with a chirp. "Now, I have a question regarding the changed U.A. Why exactly did the government raise the age needed to get a license?"
Forty years prior to this, a student at a now-closed hero school broke under the pressure of the regular Japanese Education System, as well as the advanced Hero Education System.
They caused an incident that cost the government nearly 15 million yen in damage, took the lives of 83 people, and injured 233 people, of which 178 became crippled for life.
After the 'Makani Incident', the government decided in a vote to overhaul the entire Education System, to prevent this tragedy from happening again.
"...Jesus. That...that got dark fast."
"That is a giant difference to our universe, as this 'Makani Incident' never happened. But...the name Makani sounds familiar", Nezu mused, frowning in thought.
Seeing the curious stares of his students, he simply motioned them to continue asking questions.
"Guess I'll ask mine, hopefully, it won't be as...dark as yours, principal", Toshinori said.
Turning to the TV, he asked.
"Guide-san did the former holders of One for All remain the same as in our universe?", he asked, feeling like this was a safe question.
Please wait a moment, accessing information database...please wait...data accessed. Yes, the holders and wielders of the Quirk known as One for All are an identical match to the ones of this universe.
Nodding, Toshinori sat back down, letting the next one ask their question. This turned out to be Aizawa.
"Did the Problem Child change something in the USJ", he asked with narrowed eyes, wanting to find out if what he considered to be one of his greatest failures played out differently in that universe.
Please wait a moment, accessing information database...yes. In this particular universe, Midoriya Izuku fought against / and /, managing to buy enough time for the individual known as All Might, aka Yagi Toshinori, to arrive. As a result, the individual known as Eraserhead, aka Aizawa Shota, didn't receive as debilitating injuries as in this universe.
"Nice one Midoriya!"
"Yeah, good job!"
Aizawa grunted but did shoot Izuku a small grateful look.
After that, the students started asking questions.
Some were pretty basic.
"Am I still in the same class as Midoriya?"
Yes.
"Nice!"
Some were...strange.
"Does my favorite cheese brand still exist?"
...yes.
"Excellent."
"...what the-"
Some were actually good questions.
"Why is that Midoriya more confident than ours?"
The Individual in that universe had been regularly confronting people who still tried to leave their garbage on the beach, thus getting used to confronting and speaking with people, which also bleed over into other areas.
"Huh. Good on him."
Some were fixated on a single thing.
"What happened to the Dodge Charger?"
Please wait a moment...after it had been repaired by the workers at Mustufa Racers, All Might contacted the individual known as David Shield, asking him to modify the vehicle like he once modified the so-called 'Mighty Car'.
"...awesome."
And then there were the...personal ones.
"Who does that Midori hook up with?"
"Ashido, no-"
The Individual enters a romantic relationship with /, which leads into marriage and three children called /, /, and /.
"Oh come on, you're seriously gonna bleep them out?"
"Ashido, enough."
And some wanted to know about the previous recording they watched.
"How did Midoriya get a gun as Spectre?"
"Oooh, good question."
The Individual known as Spectre, aka Midoriya Izuku, made a deal with a former arms dealer. For taking out the man's former clients, mostly members of Organized Crime Syndicates and a few terrorists, he would supply Spectre with firearms and ammunition.
"Holy crap, he hunted terrorists and Mafiosi?!"
There was the question of his mother.
"Did that Izuku stop going overboard?"
Please wait a moment...the Individual stayed at a pace that, while exhausting, wasn't unhealthy.
"Oh thank god."
And of course, Eri also got to ask a question.
"Did...did the other Deku save me?"
Izuku felt his heart clench at the timid question and pulled her back into his lap, hugging her.
Yes. The Individual, along with / and /, led the charge that resulted in the rescue of the individual known as /, aka / Eri.
Sighs of relief rose in the room, happy to know that the little girl was saved from her hellish prison. Though some did wonder why certain things were bleeped out.
Did Eri have a hero alias in that universe? And why was her family name bleeped out?
One after another, the viewers asked their questions, until only Izuku himself and Uraraka were left.
After looking at each other and having a silent conversation, Izuku nodded and went first.
"Guide-san, how come my alternate self had a sudden growth spurt? And was he able to withstand One for All so well due to his bigger body?"
Please wait a moment...the Individual had discovered, with assistance by the individual known as Recovery Girl, aka Shuzenji Chiyo, that by regularly using the Quirk known as One for All, he could infuse his body with small amounts of energy and slightly kickstart the production of hormones like Somatotropin and HGH.
Through the increased muscle mass and improved density of the bones, the Individual became capable of handling a higher output of One for All.
"...I can do that?!"
"Wait, how would that even work? Hormones aren't produced in the bones and muscles but the brain!"
"Quirks are bullshat?"
"No, Quirks are biological!"
"Let me rephrase, Quirks are biological bullshat."
"...you're on thin ice Kaminari-kun."
"Sorry, Midoriya-san..."
While Izuku stared down at his arms with concentration, Uraraka turned to the TV with a serious expression.
"Guide-san...why was that Deku so desperate to become a hero? That he would even go so far as nearly killing himself?"
Everybody got quiet at that, also interested in that answer.
Please wait a moment...due to the destruction caused by the 'Manaki Incident', multiple families had to resettle in different cities. Amongst them was the Hayashi family and their daughter Harumi. They bought an apartment in a small complex in Mustufa, that just so happened to be the same one the Midoriya's lived in.
Midoriya Izuku and Hayashi Harumi quickly became good friends, their friendship growing with the years. For the young Izuku, she became someone who he could trust, as she didn't care about his lack of a Quirk.
"Aww..."
"That's adorable!"
"...I don't like where this is going."
"Huh? What do you mean Todoroki-kun?"
When Izuku turned eight years old, he went to visit his best friend, wanting to spend his birthday with her. But what he found was instead a crime scene.
"...oh no."
Traumatized by the death of the man and woman he came to view as uncle and aunt, and the disappearance of his best friend, Midoriya Izuku swore to become a hero and bring the ones that committed the crime to justice.
"...holy fuck."
"Language!"
"Prez, I'm sorry, but I gotta agree with Sero. Holy fuck!"
"No wonder he would go so far, I would too if that kind of fucked up shit happened to me!"
"Poor Midoriya..."
Inko placed her hand on her son's back in support, who was staring at the TV with wide eyes.
"Yeah man, and poor Harumi. Wonder what happened to her?"
"I hope she got saved...poor girl."
Please wait a moment...
"Huh? Wait, that counted as a question?!"
"Guide wait-!"
The individual known as Hayashi Harumi was kidnapped by the underlings of the individual known as Dr. Ujiko, aka Garaki Kyudai, and got turned into a High-End Nomu.
"...motherfu-!"
-Nx-
Aaaand that's a wrap! Finally done! I don't know why, but this chapter fought me tooth and nail, but I got it done! Before the deadline I set for myself, too!
Anyway, I have a few things to say(write?) before I get into the real notes about the AU itself. First and foremost, I want to thank the people that left reviews. It really helps and even gave me some ideas on what to do in the future with this story!
I also want to thank Mel, as without her I would have most likely finished this chapter at least a whole week later. You're welcome!
Ah, she's a real gem.
But, going on. A few of you suggested/requested a few scenes or fanfics you would like to see in here. I have no problems with suggestions and also no problems with taking requests, but I can not promise that I will be able to do them.
It's not that I don't want to, oh no, the direct opposite even! Especially the one with Invincible, as I recently finished it. (Wonderful show, I can only recommend it).
But, as noted in the last chapter, my time is somewhat limited due to different reasons. But I will try my best!
Anyway, I think I rambled enough. Here are a few notes to the AU in this chapter and also the ones for the chapter before it, as I forgot to do it for Scope.
-Nx-
This AU actually got started when a friend of mine got into My Hero Academia and asked why Izuku used One for All like All Might when he is like half his size. And while I explained to him that that would change and that it was most likely supposed to show Izuku growing from fanboy to his own person, it got me thinking.
Combine it with a half-baked idea I had about a U.A. that's a university, and voila!, you have Rise of the Hero. The part with Harumi got added as a butterfly effect of the Manaki Incident, which would have also some other effects (for example, the Hero Commission has a farther reach, as the blame was placed on the hero schools, people crying out for more oversight).
The thing with the growth spurt was me taking the fact that Quirks are biological mutation and running with it.
-Nx-
Scope was one of my first ideas for a fanfic, for MHA at least, and came to me when I was reading a Batman comic where he fought against Deathstroke. I always liked Deathstroke, something about the mercenary villain type just got to me, you know?
So I wanted to write an Izuku that was like that. He has the mind for it and he also has the will to go through with the hellish training necessary to keep up with Quirked villains.
I had a lot of fun writing about it, especially as the fight with Stain is one of the best fight scenes I have ever written, even if I had to cut some things to keep it from being too long. I especially liked writing him as someone who became more ruthless with his time as a vigilante.
-Nx-
And those are the notes to my AU's. Maybe I'll turn them into full stories one day, but who knows. I'll see what the future has in store for me.
But anyway, next time is the final fight of Invincible!
I'll see you all in the next chapter!
-Noxton
