A few weeks had passed by and he decided to work towards a motorcycle he had been eyeing for a while. His bodyguarding business with Richard proved to be his best option and the man been grateful. While Walker saw it as a way to get money, Richard saw it as a way to acquire a good person for bodyguarding. He felt that Walker was a good person deep down and told him numerous times they did a job. The latter felt that was a false statement; because deep down he was a terrible person. The amount of people he's killed, interrogated, and hurt in some way shape or form was astonishing.
The people around the settlement had said that he was a good person, despite them having extra appendages. He didn't really see the issue as to why that mattered sometimes, because at the end of the day they were just people. Another fact he learned about Faunus was that they could see in the dark, extremely well in fact. Numerous times he had reminded Richard that he needed light to see where he was going because he couldn't see in the dark. The Faunus just gave a sheepish laugh when he remembered Walker was a human and had limitations as far as vision.
The two of them were loading packages in the back of the truck when Richard got a call, excusing himself for a few minutes. Walker just shrugged and continued loading the truck before dusting his hands off and hopping off and onto the ground. His boots impacted the ground and he leaned against the door for the next several minutes while inspecting his Lancer.
He managed to get more concentrated Dust rounds that worked as good as his previous ones, they were just more expensive so it dipped into his pocket a bit. Rotating his neck and listening to it pop loudly, he sighed in relief and waited some more. He looked to his right when he the large man from before, the one that harassed Richard. He stood a foot larger than Walker and his muscles bulged as did the veins in his arms.
"Can I help you?" Walker asked.
"You the one who threatened Godfrey?" The man asked.
"..." Walker just stared at him before ignoring him altogether. He wasn't going to pick a fight with the guy for no reason. That wasn't to say he'd just let the guy walk all over him either.
"I'm talking to you." The man said.
"I'm aware. Godfrey didn't pay what he promised and I merely made him cough up the rest. I don't like being swindled out of payment, especially if the person paying isn't willing to keep their end of the bargain." Walker explained.
"So the extra case?" The man asked.
"Payment for not paying Richard in the past and being a dick." Walker answered, bringing out his knife and flipping it before putting it back.
"He wants it back." The man said.
"He's not getting it back. That much I can guarantee." Walker said.
"I told him I'd get it back, so where is it?" The man asked, stepping closer to him.
"I don't know anymore, probably evenly distributed by now." Walker answered. It was quiet and the man picked Walker up by his collar and lifted him up. Everything went quiet as people stared, holding their breaths. Both men narrowed their eyes and Walker's knuckles popped loudly.
"Give me the money-" The man started, only to recoil in pain when Walker's hands slammed against his ears. The latter plopped on the ground and curled his hand into a fist, throwing it forward and striking the man in his throat. He gasped in agony as Walker tackled him to the ground and slammed his fist into the side of his face, making blood splatter against the pavement. The man threw a punch, but Walker blocked it before maneuvering around and wrapping his arms and legs around the arm.
A sickening crack was heard as the bone snapped violently and the man thrashed around in agony. Walker wrapped his arms and legs around the other arm and broke it easily, ignoring the man's pleas before he climbed on top of him. His fists impacted the man's face and blood flew from his mouth several times. Each strike was heard by the countless people and they winced at the painful sound. The final punch made several bloody teeth fly out and clatter against the ground.
Walker stood up over the bloody, unconscious body and gripped it by its collar.
"Hey, Walker. Sorry about that, Velvet called and I had to-" Richard stopped in his tracks when he saw the situation before him. His jaw went slack and his eyes seemed to bulge out of his skull.
"Ah, you're here. Sorry about having to see this." Walker apologized as he dragged the body to the alley and deposited the man in a dumpster. He grabbed a nearby newspaper and wiped the blood off his hands before throwing it to the side. Walking up to Richard, he waited patiently by the truck before giving an awkward wave to some nearby people; who quickly left.
"Was that-" Richard pointed.
"The guy who was threatening you a few weeks ago? Yeah, turns out that the fat sack of trash tried to sick him on me." Walker answered.
"Oh... are you alright?" Richard asked.
"Me? I'm fine. Him, not so much. I just need to have a little chat with Godfrey." Walker said.
"U-Uh, you really don't have to do that. Just don't kill him, please." Richard pleaded.
"I'm not going to kill him. Just going to talk to him, by the way... can I see your scroll?" Walker asked.
"Oh yeah... here." Richard said as he handed Walker his scroll, watching as the latter go to the alley and open the dumpster lid. A flash was seen as Walker took a picture of the bloody man before tossing the scroll back and getting in the passenger seat. The truck was put into drive and both were on their way to the next settlement, occasionally talking about different things. They shared a laugh or two as they drove the shipment to the destination. The atmosphere was relaxed and Richard almost forgot Walker literally almost beat a man to death and threw him in the trash.
Another thing the Faunus learned was that his bodyguard wasn't one to stay quiet. If something was on his mind then he'd say it, regardless if it hurt someone in some way shape or form. He also wasn't one to let people walk all over him, as displayed by the person he practically maimed with his bare hands. That was in the past though, so it wasn't really given a second thought after that.
"Say, Walker. What do you plan to do after this last job?" Richard asked.
"Probably travel. I haven't thought that far ahead yet." He answered.
"You ever think about becoming a Huntsman?" Richard asked.
"No, I don't care much about that." Walker answered truthfully. He was a Gear, not some goody two shoes Huntsman who swore to protect humanity. Half the time they didn't even do their jobs so that was out of the picture.
"Bodyguarding then?" Richard looked over at him.
"Something along those lines. Might do a few odd jobs here and there, but nothing too serious." Walker shrugged.
"It's not always good to wander around." Richard said.
"Why's that?" Walker asked, glancing at the man.
"It's just tiring after a while. You don't really have a path, nor goal you have in mind. After some time it'll break you down and from that point on, you're just lost. You've wandered for so long that you have no place to actually call home." Richard explained.
"I'm already lost." Walker said. Richard looked at him with a confused expression before turning his sight back on the road ahead. The tone in Walker's voice was one full of longing and confusion, but also a hint of frustration. One that was only caused by someone who was in a new environment and didn't know their way back. It also didn't help that Walker never told him where he was from, only that he was from some horrible, barren part of Vacuo.
The rest of the ride was quiet and the two of them didn't dare to break the silence that was thrown upon them. For once, neither one of them wanted to have a conversation. It was probably for the best though.
Once they arrived at the settlement, Walker asked for the scroll back. Once it was in his hand, he helped Richard unload the cargo before taking off towards Godfrey's office for the next hour and a half. Both came out of the office and Godfrey looked terrified of Walker and a little roughed up while the latter cracked his knuckles and wiped a small amount of blood off of his gloves. The fat man promised to pay Richard the full amount from now on before handing him four cases and quickly waddling away when Walker looked at him.
"What uh... what'd you do?" Richard asked as he loaded the cases of lien into the truck.
"I talked to him, nothing much." Walker said.
"Right..." Richard eyed him suspiciously before climbing into the driver's seat.
"I'm serious." Walker defended himself.
"Okay, whatever you say, Walker." Richard said.
"I'm starting to feel a little hurt, Scarlatina." Walker said.
"Okaaaaay." Richard said.
"Alright, be that way." Walker said.
"I will." Richard replied, opening the window and letting some fresh air get in the truck. The two drove along the path for a few hours and just talked about some small things that had no significance. It was nice to be honest, to wind down after a job and actually enjoy the atmosphere. It made the drive go by faster and before they knew it, both were back at the settlement and dropping the truck off. They walked along the path and Walker stopped when he saw the motorcycle he had been eyeing for the last few weeks.
"How long has that bike been up for sale?" He asked.
"A while. I wouldn't buy it though." Richard said.
"Why?" Walker asked.
"Those ones are mainly for show and not for the road. The one I have is better." Richard said.
"You still use it?" Walker asked.
"Nah, I'm too old to be traveling." Richard waved.
"How much do you want for it?" Walker asked quickly.
"Are you sure you want it? I haven't really done anything with it in a while." Richard rubbed the back of his neck.
"You never told me how much." Walker said.
"To be honest, I think you've done enough. If you're serious about wanting it, then come by my house tomorrow afternoon and I'll get you your payment and let you see it." Richard said. Walker nodded and the two of them went their separate ways. He went to get something to eat then headed back to the motel room where Hal resided in his dormant state. No one had entered the room to clean surprisingly and he was slightly grateful.
Plopping down on the bed, he took his boots off then his gloves and set an alarm on his watch. His helmet was the last thing he took off before setting it on the nightstand and getting underneath the covers. Both of his eyes closed and he slowly fell asleep.
The next morning he woke up and stretched a bit before getting in the shower. He scrubbed his body clean and washed his armor before putting everything on and turning on Hal. After putting his weapons on his back, he slung the backpack over his shoulders and made the bed neatly. No doubt the room service would be somewhat grateful he decided to take the time to tidy everything up.
Both of them exited the room and Hal turned invisible before they made their way to Richard's house. It took several minutes and several people waved at him while he waved back before he spotted the man outside. There was a woman with a small toddler on the porch, both were rabbit Faunus and the child gave an excited wave to him. He waved back before walking up to the porch.
"Is Richard in?" He asked politely.
"Oh, yes. He's in the garage tinkering with that bike of his." She answered.
"Thanks." He nodded.
"Are you the one who's been his bodyguard the last few weeks?" She asked.
"Yeah." He nodded.
"Thank you. He's been a lot more happy since you've come along and we have enough money to go to a few places now." She said.
"Happy I can help." He said.
"Katrina Scarlatina." She introduced, extending her hand.
"Walker." He shook her hand.
"Just Walker?" She asked.
"Just Walker for now." He nodded, backing up down the stairs.
"Well, just Walker, if you go around the side of the house, you should see the garage." She instructed.
"Thanks, have a nice day." He bid a farewell and she did the same before he walked to the side of the house. It took fifteen seconds to actually get to the back where he saw a garage with a black motorcycle. Spare tires were tied to the front side in a net and there were two bags on the back on each side. There was an extra seat and behind it was a black bag. It had several dirty spots, but it was clear that Richard took good care of it.
There was music playing on the radio as Richard finished tuning the bike up. He stood up and wiped some of the sweat off his forehead before turning around and giving a wave at Walker, who did the same. He went to the radio and turned it off before going up to the bike.
"How much do I owe you for it?" Walker asked, bringing out his wallet and counting the lien.
"It's on the house." Richard said.
"What?" Walker blinked.
"It's on the house. Kid, listen... you've done more for me than half these people in this settlement. Hell, even Godfrey is going to start paying me for deliveries." Richard said.
"Still, I can't just take the bike off your hands for free. It's not right." Walker said.
"Take it, it's yours. Just make sure you take good care of it." Richard dismissed.
"Still." Walker said as he threw a couple thousand lien on the counter and took his bag off and put on the back of the bike. Richard sighed and took half the lien before giving the other half back to Walker, shaking his head.
"I'm serious, I'll accept half the lien because I know you won't accept anything for free, but you'll need something on the road wherever you're going. The bike is somewhat old so you'll have to do repairs." He said.
"Just gives me the experience in more areas." Walker said.
"That's the attitude. There's a manual in the bag on the right side of everything you need to do in case something goes wrong." Richard said.
"Alright. Thanks for this, I mean it." Walker said.
"Don't mention it. Although, can I ask you for a favor?" Richard asked.
"What is it?" Walker asked.
"I need you to deliver this to Velvet at Beacon. If you do this, then I'll pay you when you get back and have something for the bike. Sound fair?" Richard asked, bringing out a container wrapped in a cloth.
"Yeah, any specified time it needs to be there?" Walker asked, taking the container and putting it on his new bike.
"No, it just needs to get to her." Richard waved.
"Alright. Again, thanks for this." Walker thanked.
"You brought us out of a tight spot, so we should be thanking you. Stay safe out there. Remnant's a crazy place in more ways than one." Richard responded.
"I'm sure it is. Anyways, I better get going. So... see ya later." Walker said and turned on the motorcycle. He started out slow before driving out of the garage, giving one last wave to Richard and his wife before taking off out of the settlement. It took some adjusting to get used to the motorcycle, but he eventually did after a few hours.
Dirt kicked up on the path as he drove for the next several days. His supplies were plentiful, and food wasn't really that much of an issue considering he stocked up pretty well. The Grimm he encountered on the way were killed easily and half the time he just used the chainsaw to kill them. It saved him both ammo and time. It was nice to be honest, to feel the wind on his skin as he drove and adjusting to the bike wasn't that hard.
He stopped at the edge of a cliff and stared at the forest below, leaning against a tree while the motorcycle rested nearby. His eyes trailed up to the broken moon and he stared at it for a while before his eyes trailed up to the stars. Hal dropped down next to him and he tinkered with the bot for the next several minutes before leaning against him. In truth, the robot was the only thing tying him back to Sera; should he lose him, then he'd probably truly be lost. Which is why he didn't want people knowing about the bot.
The only time he'd probably call Hal out was to get into a terminal or rip open a door, and provide him with company when he was alone. Other than that... no. A sigh escaped his lips and he dozed off, sleeping lightly. Years of sleeping in various places made him like this and more often than not, it saved his life. Against both people and Locust. That didn't mean it was comfortable, because it wasn't.
When he woke up several hours later, he had a cramp in his leg and it took a while for it to actually go away. Once it did, he hopped back on the bike and drove to the next destination. He noticed that the trees started to change colors, bleeding more towards red as time passed by. After a few more hours of driving, all the trees were a blood red color and it somewhat unnerved him. It reminded him too much of a torture barge and he drove faster.
His thoughts drifted back to one of his friends. How the guy was tortured in the barge and didn't make it out. It didn't help that Walker and him grew up together, becoming brothers despite not being related by blood. He had to watch as the guy withered away and died in his arms, giving him his COG tags before he passed away. Both decided to become Gears and wanted to see the end of the war. Neither of them realizing only one of them would actually be able to. That solidified Walker's hatred of the Locust and he made it his personal mission to brutally kill every one he saw.
His team did their best to help him cope with the death, and he was grateful for that. The most they did was provide him with an outlet to get over it. By the end of the war, he finally let it go. He never talked about it nor attempted to, the most he did was bottle it all in and let it fester like a festering wound. It didn't help that he lost his dad shortly after. By the time he was seventeen he lost both his "brother" and father.
It got worse when his mother died a year later. At that point he was practically suicidal and didn't really care much anymore. The only reason he kept living was for his team and the remainder of his family, at least what little remained. He never considered how his grandfather felt though, to lose his son before him then turn around and lose his grandson shortly after. He was a greedy person to make it all about him though, not considering how others felt about his disappearance. It's why he wanted to go back.
No, it's why he needed to go back. He didn't fight so hard just to be whisked away so soon. Nothing would get in his way... he wouldn't allow it.
He was ripped out of his thoughts when he was close lined by a rope. The motorcycle rolled for a couple of yards then fell on its side and skid for a bit while his back slammed against the ground. He gasped in agony and held his chest before rolling onto his stomach and struggling to his knees. Someone grabbed him and put him in a headlock while another person ran at him and started hitting him in the stomach. His eyes widened in pain and he grunted several times before managing to kick both his feet up and throw them forward into the person hitting him.
The bottom of his boots slammed against her face and he leaned his head forward and slammed the back of his helmet against the person choking him. They recoiled in pain and held their bloody nose while he bent down and grabbed one of his knives, the one on his leg. He rushed up to them and repeatedly stabbed them in the stomach, splattering blood all over the ground. They cried out in pain before he kicked them away and rushed at the girl.
He slammed his fist into her jaw and heard a pop before cutting taking part of the rope and wrapping it around her throat. Both of them fell onto the ground and he went behind her, planting his left foot on her back and right foot on the back of her head. The muscles on his arms bulged as he pulled and the rope squeezed tightly around her neck. She tried to desperately breath and gagged loudly as he strangled her to death. The color on her face changed and she slowly started to stop struggling. After a minute or two, she slumped down and he remained their for a few extra minutes.
He let go once he made sure she was dead and lied there for a few minutes, breathing harshly. Standing up while wincing in pain, he went to the rope ends and untied it, tying it up into a roll and putting it on his motorcycle before looking back at the two bodies. Shaking his head at them, he picked up the motorcycle and got on it, taking off shortly after. Two dead bodies were just left out in the open for people to see.
Those weren't the first people he's killed and it certainly won't be the last. He detested killing other people sometimes, it didn't sit right with him but he wasn't one to just lie down and take shit either. The only good thing that came out of that encounter was two bandits were dead and he got some rope for later. So it wasn't a complete disaster.
There was a settlement nearby and he stopped to get some fuel and buy some snacks before he talked to some people about the fastest way to get to Beacon. Most of them told him that a train station nearby would take him to the city and he could hitch a ride on a bullhead to Beacon. He thanked them and got back on his bike and drove off to the next location. A hum escaped his lips as he continued to drive along the path, looking around at the scenery.
As time seemed to slip by, the sky started to get darker and before he knew it, it was night. The headlight on the motorcycle illuminated the path ahead and he kept his eyes focused on everything, especially the path ahead. He didn't want to get close lined by another damn rope. He felt his eye lids getting heavy and sighed before driving for a little more then finding a spot to crash at. It was a small opening and he parked the bike then spread out the bed roll, lying down on it and staring up at the sky.
A yawn was heard from underneath his helmet and he closed his eyes, falling asleep and letting whatever dreams filled his mind. Would it actually be a dream or a nightmare? It was a gamble most of the time and he found himself enjoying it sometimes for some reason.
The watch beeped and Hal poked him with one of his claws, making him sit up and stare at the bot with an unamused expression. He stood up and stretched a bit before exercising for the next hour. It was good to keep his body in shape the best he could. After exercising he ate some of his food and thought about what he'd do after delivering the package to Velvet. He had already seen a picture of the girl so he knew what she looked like, not to mention her father told him that she was pretty much the only rabbit faunus on campus. That narrowed it down a lot.
After finishing his food, he got on the bike and guided it out of the clearing. Once he was back on the path, he got on the bike and started it up then took off shortly after. The trees seemed to fly by him the faster he went and he found himself enjoying the wind on his skin. Going back to his thoughts, he figured he'd do some bodyguarding some more. Although, he'd be the one who decided who was worth it or not. He preferred to stay away from the bad apples of society, especially the criminal empire.
Beacon was out of the picture because he didn't know them and there wasn't telling what they'd do with him. Not to mention it wasn't his problem and he didn't care. All he really cared about was getting home.
The forest he was driving through was massive, and he literally meant that. He had been traveling for the last few days in this gigantic area and he was pretty sick of seeing red all the time. Another reason he was glad Richard gifted him the bike. It'd probably take him a few months just to get through the forest rather than several days, something he couldn't fathom even doing.
Slowly but surely, two more days went by and he found a small settlement in the forest. It was nothing more than a quick pitstop for him to sleep in a bed and bathe for the night. He just restocked up on supplies and stuffed them in his bag before heading off. For some reason, he found himself enjoying the bike more and more as he traveled. When he got back to Sera, he was definitely bringing it along with him.
Every mountain he drove by, bridge he drove across, and valley he encountered, it was all appreciated. Remnant was lucky to not have been touched by the Locust and their destructive tendencies. Granted, they had Grimm to worry about, but the people of Remnant had it lucky compared to Sera. He didn't really know much about the world he was on nor its past, but he would learn about it soon enough.
The people he talked to found him polite in some way, to which he was. His parents didn't raise him to be an asshole and he would only be one if the situation called for it. If he felt that he was running low on cash, which he wasn't, he'd offer a helping hand. They'd usually pay him in either food or lien, sometimes information if he had enough of the first two. Once that was all said and done, he was on the road again and found out where he needed to go for the city.
He chewed on a granola bar as he stared at a map, swallowing the rest of it before bundling up the wrapper and throwing it in the trash nearby. He was at a station with his bike parked nearby and he sat on a bench. Wincing when the loud whistle blared from the train, he looked at it and noticed people boarding it. As he looked around, he saw people smiling and laughing, not letting the outside world bother them too much. A small smirk wormed its way onto his face before he chuckled once before going back to the map.
People on Remnant were truly lucky indeed.
The train started to take off, blowing its whistle one last time before heading down the track. The front of it slowly rounded the corner on the tracks and the sound of it speeding up met his ears. He leaned his head back and closed his eyes before letting out a sigh when the wind blew over him. The people around him seemed to disperse as they waited for the next train. In truth, he wasn't really waiting for a train because he didn't have a ticket nor did he want to. This spot was mainly to sit down and rest before he was back on the road once more.
If he was looking at the map correctly, then he'd probably get to Vale soon and from then on he'd worry about getting to Beacon to deliver the package. Once he delivered the package, he had to think about what to do next. It was still something that was on his mind for the last few weeks and it was beginning to bug him. Maybe he'd try to get an apartment or something and do some bodyguarding work should he play his cards right. It was something to think about for the time being.
"W-Wait!" A female voice shouted. He looked to his left to see a brunette haired girl chase after the train. She wore a white shirt with a floral patter on it along with a black long skirt that ended at her shins. Her black leggings hiked up to her thigh and he heard her shoes click against the tile below. Amber eyes seemed to glow with a mixture of exhaustion and worry while her black hair was tied together with a scrunchie . The most striking feature was the pair of cat ears that was shown for all to see.
He watched as she looked at her ticket and sighed in defeat before kicking her left leg when she saw it disappear from view. It was too far for her to actually do anything at this point. She looked around and spotted him, or his spot, and walked up to him.
"Do you mind if I sit here?" She sighed.
"Go right ahead." He said, scooting over a bit.
"Thank you." She said before fixing her skirt a bit and sitting down. It was quiet as the two sat there, listening to the swaying of the leaves in the wind and looking at the occasional red leaf slid by. He folded the map and stood up, going over to his bike and putting it inside one of the pouches. She glanced at him and quickly looked away when he started walking back and sat down on the bench again. He closed his eyes and leaned back.
The first thing the girl noticed was the golden helmet that seemed to gleam a bit; then the weapons adorning his back. The hybrid of an assault rifle and chainsaw to the sawed-off with blades attached to the side, to even the heavy looking revolver. She found herself gulping thickly before looking away.
"I'd thought I'd let you know, the next train is supposed to arrive tomorrow, I think." He said.
"That long?" She asked.
"Yeah, I don't know how the train schedules are here, so I wouldn't really trust my words. That's just what I heard from around." He said.
"I guess that's better than nothing." She said.
"Probably." He nodded before it went quiet for a while. She picked up her bag and unzipped one of the compartments before bringing out a book. He glanced her way before shrugging at the thought of getting a good book. It certainly would kill time seeing how he didn't really have anything else. Mostly he'd be working on Hal when he was bored, but half the time he was doing something else. He stood up and stretched a bit before fishing in his pocket and grabbing the keys, walking to the motorcycle and sticking them in the ignition.
"Hey." She called out, making him stop and look at her.
"Yeah?" He asked.
"I know this is kind of weird, but do you think you could take me to the city?" She asked.
"Kind of a weird thing to be asking a stranger, you know." He commented.
"I know, I know, but I don't really want to wait until tomorrow here." She said, her cat ears flattening against her skull.
"Wouldn't it make more sense for you to wait here for the train? I'm sure it'd get you there faster than a bike." He reasoned. Sure he had room, but what made her think he'd actually take her. He didn't know her and she didn't know him either. Both were complete strangers.
"I can pay you." She fished inside her bag and started sorting out lien.
"Wait..." He took the keys out.
"It's fine, I should have enough to get a hotel room for the next few days." She said, not hearing him.
"Whoa, wait a minute... let's just slow down now." He said, walking up to her.
"Here, if I pay for you to take me to the city, then will you?" She asked, handing him a thousand lien.
"Okay, one, that's a lot. Two, are you sure you want me to take you? I'm sure a train will come sooner or later." He said. She shook her head and started to push the lien into his hands.
"I can pay you more if you want. I'll just need to budget my money a bit more-" She said.
"I'm not a taxi and that's not the issue. The issue is that you can't just ask random people to take you places." He said.
"Than what do you suppose I do? I don't want to wait until tomorrow. Not to mention there isn't really any place to sleep." She said.
"... I don't know." He shrugged.
"Please? Once I get to Beacon, I'll be out of your hair." She begged. He stared at her and a few leaves blew past them for a few minutes before he sighed and nodded hesitantly. She thanked him and picked up her bag, handing it to him when he made a gesture and watched him put the bag on the bike. He climbed on the bike and started it before waiting for her to adjust her skirt and climb on as well. Shortly after adjusting, the two of them were off.
Her hair flowed in the wind and she had to squint her eyes a bit.
"So what are you going to Beacon for, Ms..." He trailed off.
"Blake Belladonna." She said.
"So what are you going to Beacon for Ms. Belladonna?" He asked.
"To become a Huntress." She answered.
"I figured as much, but why do you want to become a Huntress?" He asked.
"I... wanted to show people that a Faunus were capable of doing what a human could do." She answered after some time.
"So to basically show people you all were equals." He guessed.
"Yeah." She nodded.
"It's gonna be hard, you know. Some people aren't willing to change so easily." He said.
"I know, it's why I decided to do something." She responded.
"Just make sure when you're doing something, don't shove your viewpoints down people's throats." He advised.
"Why?" She asked.
"People tend to respond negatively to that kind of thing. Not to mention, you're not really changing anything for the better when you do that. All it does is paint you as an annoying nag that doesn't respect people's personal opinion; even if it isn't to your liking." He said.
"Oh..." She said. It was quiet for a while and he glanced back at her before turning his head back to the road ahead.
"You've been doing that, haven't you?" He asked.
"Yes..." She said quietly, her ears flattening against her head.
"You should probably stop that." He suggested.
"Alright." She nodded sheepishly.
"Isn't Beacon really stingy with accepting people? Don't you have to go to a combat school first?" He changed the subject, noticing her ears pick back up
"They are, but they aren't. Most people go to combat school but there are some people who can be exempt should they provide enough verification of their combat ability." She answered.
"I'm guessing you're a special case?" He asked.
"Something along those lines." She said.
"Gotcha." He nodded.
"What about you? Are you planning to go to Beacon?" She asked.
"Me? Nah, I don't care much about that." He shook his head.
"I was just assuming since you had all these weapons." She said.
"They're for self defense half the time. Grimm aren't willing to go down with a simple sidearm." He said.
"Oh. So what do you plan to do?" She asked.
"Mainly travel and do odd jobs, nothing too big." He answered.
"So whatever puts money in your pocket?" She asked.
"Depends on what the job is. If it doesn't fit my criteria or is something that'll chain me down and not let me do what I want to do, then I won't take it." He answered. She nodded and closed her eyes, feeling the wind on her face. For some reason, she found him easy to talk to. He was polite when asked some questions and didn't take anything to heart if it somewhat upset him; he mainly just brushed it off. The one thing she noticed however was that he didn't like talking about himself very much. Whenever she asked something about his past life, he instantly went on guard and either didn't answer or change the subject.
It rubbed her the wrong way somewhat, but it was to be expected seeing how she literally just met him today. She did find him have some form of wisdom, offering her advice that she didn't know she needed. It was nice to be honest. She found him to be an interesting person overall. He wasn't rude when he gave his input, but he seemed like he didn't tolerate anybody's shit either.
Maybe she'd meet him again in the future.
I'm back, so with another chapter of this so soon. I don't have much to say otherwise, thanks to those who decided to give this a read. It really means a lot to me sometimes, and you guys are wonderful. Anyways, let's get onto the reviews because I prefer to keep this short.
Disabled-doctor: Won't say.
whatsupman: I hope it does, I intend to change several things.
| Fredric |: Thank you.
Janny092: Thank you, stay safe as well.
Ferno16: I don't know, maybe he does or maybe he doesn't. I'll think of something.
rarrarshark: Thank you for reading.
YermakGundyr: That's a good comparison between Walker and Rambo, I didn't think of that. Otherwise, yeah. I had noticed that the older version was just being edgy because he could and after some time (more than I dare to admit) I noticed how much I ruined the character. That was just my young mind just doing shit without thinking ahead much. Pretty interesting review and I hope to see more like it.
Austin: Thank you. A long review, but it was one I enjoyed reading nonetheless, and it gave me a couple of things to consider in the story. I do plan on developing some characters, not just having them there. Also, I agree with you about the old version. It was definitely cringe. Stay safe out there and thank you.
Jkdelta38: Thank you.
Crazzytony: I'll try to keep up the good work.
Somerandomperson: Thank you, and you too.
Yeti Man: Thank you, you're a great person.
bmanbeast57: He probably will be his own thing. I kind of left that trope of the character joins Beacon. I figured since I'd get away from that whole area because it's overused and I just don't see the reason.
So, a lot of you will notice the difference in Blake. For one, I want to experiment with her character in this. Just something different and if it takes off, then cool; if not... oh well, just a mistake I made. I want to actually develop her character a bit and not just have her be there.
On an unrelated note, I felt that I rushed this a bit. Who know though, it just takes place a bit before canon so it's not all that bad. Mistakes are made, but that just means I can learn from them.
Another unrelated note... you guys, I'm not asking for overly positive reviews all the time, because I know there's gonna be a few bad ones. The most I ask is that you be respectful. I'm not going to filter my words anymore because I'm past caring at this point, but so long as you just be respectful then I'll do the same. Anyways, I've taken enough of your time. So I'll see you guys later.
