Because i had some questioning of the integrity of my story and a remark of how Inappropriate it was i have to post this chapter as soon as i can so it might explain what i wanted to eventually explain. technically Ginny is over 17 which is over age in Harry Potter. she is only 6 years younger than Tonks roughly so thats hardly the worst. the most important thing i wanted to say this chapter is its my story. i understand the jumped reaction but i had no intentions of making them sleep together so soon. i thought i left enough hints to this before attempting to finish my last chapter the way i did. Enough about that now moving on.
Try to enjoy and review.
How Ginny and Tonks ended up here was a shocking turn of events. Ginny hadn't expected time to fly by so fast. Since the day they almost got caught crossing the line Ginny was kept so busy. Holiday decorations, food prep, shopping for gifts, knitting with her mother, or helping her father they rarely saw one another. What they had started became a realization far to late. One second they were making out an Ginny felt her knee press into girlfriends damp center and the next there was a loud crash bang boom from somewhere downstairs. The two had sprung apart and hurried down to see if someone needed help.
While a little red in the face upon making it down their faces exploded with embarrassment as Arthur struggled to compose himself from what his project had turned in. Whatever it was before could not have resembled the large chest of toys, belts, and rope. He held the lid open as if he was curious why it had appeared and what was in it but regretted it the moment it became clear to him. Ginny was reeling at what she saw asking herself if Tonks liked all these things.
Tonks fumbled with her wand before banishing it but not in time for the other Weasley's to come in and see the chest as well. Fully awkward silence engulfed the room. It had only been mere moments but worst of all Tonks fainted under the pressure of Arthur Weasley's gaze. Of the children Ginny and Fred caught her without hesitation.
The days before the holiday had made the situation less tense but the way Arthur told Ginny he didn't appreciate the way his daughter was dating an already pregnant woman who was just divorced when her emotions were high broke her heart. Did he not understand the way they were behaving this whole time. Molly looked over the two knowing the situation as well. Whenever Arthur separated them she'd find away to give them even a moment. On Christmas Day they couldn't sit close but their gifts were perfect to bring them closer. Ginny gave Tonks a home made chameleon necklace. It essentially did what Tonks's ability could do. Change colors at will. Once she wore it for a day it would pick up her signatures and shift in tandem.
Tonks had made an order for the best pair of quidditch gloves Ginny had ever gotten. The wrists had initials on it and she added a personal touch to the straps. A self stitched badger and lion emblem which Ginny thought looked marvelous for self done. Risking it they shared a look of longing from across the room. Molly was quick to busy Arthur with his present. As he took it his eyes were on the pair back and forth. Suddenly his hard gaze began to soften. Not from his gift but something else. Molly was the only one who had eyes on him as George and Fred were busy fiddling with their gifts from Tonks.
It wasn't clear what he saw but the moment he did his mind was changed. Molly gave his a gentle nudge for him to open his gift as to not put a spotlight on him. He'd find away to make it up in his own way. He gulped down his words and unwrapped his present to find a vintage muggle item. Arthur rarely knew the difference of any muggle item on first glance but after he spent time understanding it he knew what things did and didn't do. It was just like this with a plane model in hand that the Christmas tension ended. Bill and Fleur made their way over after a morning together with her family or so that was the excuse but Fleur was a terrible liar.
Much to everyone's surprise Arthur he stood up for a toast. He gave cheers to his children for looking out for each other and them everyday, he thanked Fleur for showing the kindness they all wanted Bill to have in his wife, and lastly he toasted Tonks for finding a way to keep living and being happy despite her circumstances and thanked her giving Ginny some light in her life. He however said no matter how kind and happy and in love they might be there was to be no funny business before Ginny graduated.
This meant everyone now knew allowing Christmas to end on the best of notes. Tonks often couldn't help her hormones when the two were close but at least Ginny had no say if she wanted the best relationship with her family and her girlfriend she was not going to let an accident happen again. She would have done things with Harry it's what everyone her age talked about doing when you loved someone but now she wanted to protect what she had. Her mother and father sat her and Tonks down after the holiday before she returned to school. Their objective was to see why things almost happened at all. Tonks felt the silent treatment was over and a scolding was coming. Ginny was smart but emotions usually took the wheel when she had feelings.
"That's all my doing dear I wasn't the best at it either I'm afraid. If there wasn't such an age gap sweetheart we could understand but right now Tonks is hormonal and her needs are different than yours. I know it sound like we don't think you're serious enough to trust you are able to fully accept those kinds of things. Tonks is aware of what it feels like to be with someone special. If you both did something now wether it was immediately or a few months down the road she'd know she did you wrong." Tonks was there but she didn't say anything.
"Mom it was an accident I swear we were making out. An accidental.." Ginny couldn't finish her sentence. "She must've felt a reaction and her magic went crazy."
"It's nothing to be embarrassed about." Arthur says but looks to hear from Tonks.
"We talked about waiting I wasn't firm on the topic because she's a great kisser. I should have been. I let you guys down. I'm serious I shouldn't be so okay with it and it's not fair to say it's hormones because she's always been a brilliant person and if I respect her as much as I've grown to love her it shouldn't be difficult."
She's tearing up as she looks to each person in the room falling Ginny last. She'd felt such a bond a pull this whole time something she'd felt with at one point with Remus. A connection that deepened with Ginny the more it separated from her ex husband. They had been soulmates Remus said. He sensed it.
"Remus must sense mine and his mate bond is gone just not aware it's with Ginny."
"Mate bond?" Ginny asked never hearing Tonks mention this before. "What like Fleur has with Bill."
"We'll almost every witch or wizard can have a bond we are lucky to find them before we settle down. If you're supernatural like Fleur or Remus you can sense it. If you lose your mate by force, death, or the bond is broken by extreme emotions you can form another." Arthur says.
"Tends to grown stronger so as to prevent another break." Molly adds like they know about it so well.
"What else?" They look to each other making Ginny asks this.
"The pull is difficult to stop. You two need to be extremely careful if you're alone. We don't want to be the bad guys but Tonks if you love our daughter then you will tell us if you need help." There was nothing wrong they told them just that being separated and together again may have it's effects. Which meant after she come home every holiday and summer until she was older nothing could happen while also it was normal to have heightened desires for things to happen.
"That's why it's doesn't feel hormonal I know your 17 it's legal but you're in school it feels wrong to not wait." Tonks is fully crying entirely due to her hormones. Arthur and Molly give her a hug and offer to leave them to talk. Ginny can't believe this is what is happening. That her year started worrying about her family and loved ones and now her parents were more worried about her.
Over the next few days there was a certain level of expectations proceeding forward. No closed doors, which meant almost anything they wanted to say in private could be picked up on by the twins. No sharing rooms though that had already been decided. Ginny went off to the train station feeling the strain of her protective watch. She did not want to say goodbye to anyone in her family regardless how much they made her want to hurry the year along.
"I'm seventeen you know." Neville seemed pretty uncomfortable with their discussion but she had no one else at the moment. She knew he must not of had any happy family moments given the silence between them so far. Aside from a hello they sat in a pretty empty compartment. A number of students less than when the year started proved to say some more people went into hiding. "I can kiss who I want."
"Weren't you and Harry dating?"
"Uh yes and no. We dated but every time he had something come up or remembered his mission he'd make it clear he couldn't be dating me. He effectively would enjoy a moment with me and bail after because he didn't want me at risk or something."
"Really him, Harry, playing hard to get and implying your not strong enough. I get it now." He says his interest in the conversation growing.
"Oh how did your visit with you parents go?" She asks now that some words have passed between them.
"Actually I didn't visit them. I checked in but I didn't want any followers to spot me and report my potential vulnerability. I just cleaned up my Gran's mess and stayed in. My Gran has a house elf she was willing to help me too. Little distraught from the chaos that happened but she's fine."
"Well that's smart I guess I wish I knew better I would have invited you over." They fall back into silence until prefects come around. They dressed and make their usual way back to the castle once off the train.
"You never did say who you kissed." Neville says randomly.
"I wish I could but their staying with us for protection I can't have anyone overhear. She looked around to all the Slytherin working in the same force the last time the D.A was running. Neville didn't take it personally as he noticed them too.
That night one uncomfortable feast later they counted off their members still in and made sure to report to everyone else using the coins just like they expected the others to do in return. Everyone accounted for except Luna was much better than some anticipated but still left the members with a heavy heart.
One meeting having passed without difficulty there was going to be another not long after to keep everyone closer. Eventually weeks pass without fuss. No more wild antics making time fly by months even since Christmas all almost uneventful. Often as she could Ginny visited McGonagall because the more the year sped on the more exhausted she looked. She would bring up her concern for the trio and then ask Ginny how she was dealing. She never seemed too surprised that the Weasley's carried on calling them the endless lot. It was as light discussion of the situation as the two could handle before moving on the other topics.
Easter break comes. Since not many have late homework while school is being ran like a prison eat, work, sleep, and repeat no one needs to stay to keep doing homework but the number of kids unable to return home because of their lack of shelter or parents was getting worse and worse. So bad that Neville had to stay behind while Ginny returned home. She knew he'd do the group well but she worried with no one stopping him would he expose himself. She crossed her fingers and asked him to send her messages. When she returned home she saw things had settled down and Tonks was about to pop any day now.
After dinner the first night Tonks came to Molly asking for some help with her back hurting. The older woman presses on her back to see how bad it was. It was rock hard but not bad enough yet. While Ginny wants to help she didn't expect her mom to let her yet as soon as she felt her back and saw Ginny sitting nearby observing she waved her over.
Not a word was said about maintaining boundaries but she told her to be care when massaging the lower back. She pinched Tonks's check and busies herself as usual around the kitchen. Surprisingly her concerns over making Tonks feel better not worse generally help make the moment feel as normal as ever. Now she realizes her mother's point in let them do this.
"See how her muscles are really tight but relaxing now that means even tomorrow maybe she'll be ready."
"Thanks Gin. I'm so glad you made it back before this. You're family is great just I feel I need you holding my hand."
"Just promise not to break it. I wanna be able to hand you your little boy if the nurse lets me."
"Sweetheart you forget we gotta do this here. We've already got a plan."
"But I promise I won't break your hand." Tonks says pecking her check.
"Oh I thought the plan might include a nurse for hire." Ginny feels embarrassed for assuming but neither woman expected her to know while she was in school. They hadn't mentioned the plan just in case and each later was take long on both ends to get and send. Minerva was working harder and the more the order needed things the more the family tried to accommodate.
"Molly is a great caregiver couldn't ask for a better medi-witch given the circumstances."
"I suppose. I trust mom you did fix my arm yourself that one time when I was little." Though Tonks wasn't there she could only imagine the stunts her little ginger daredevil was into back then. Molly beamed at them but as usual since the start of this year quickly resumed her internal fretting.
The next day passed with nothing more than a normal day in a Weasley house. Tinkering, flying, or food. News of Bill and Fleur planning to pop in the next day came making Easter that much better for the family. Still no word on Percy though nothing negative came so Molly was the most hopeful of his arrival.
As Easter slowly passed and Bill and Fleur came over, everyone appeared to be having a good time, Ginny kept an eye on Tonks. Her back was bothering her again she could tell but the way she sat. Mid day as the Weasley house settles down for a dinner when suddenly the clock on the wall is going crazy, a patronus arrived to warn them that the ministry knew Ron was with Harry. The family would now be officially wanted. There was no avoiding it or pretending not to know.
"Alright everyone summon essentials right now." Arthur said loudly. In taking charge Molly and Arthur summoned more than anyone else shoved them in luggage maybe not as delicately as packing for school but in almost an instant every one had a bag packed. Things that needed it were shrunk and others just stuffed in. Tonks was holding her own bag that possessed essentially everything she needed for her labor and her after care the baby's after care. As she couldn't apparate she handed it off to Fred
One by one the Weasley's left, a plan was already in place for such a situation. Like any mother Molly refused to leave until all her children where safely gone. No one wanted to go to Aunt Muriel but this was not up for debate. A patronus was sent to her but as there wasn't time to wait. Tonks was not intentional the last one out. She had to floo there. Understandably Bill an Fleur left to their home as it was safe and Ginny went ahead of the twins by her fathers hands.
"Molly! Would now be the worst time to say the baby is coming."
"Marlins beard hold it in child," She's quick to follow up though with. "Are you in pain? How long have you known?"
"Since just before we sat for dinner." She began breathing deeply as they climbed in the fireplace. Dropped the ash finally leaving the burrow behind. Molly held onto Tonks until she was safely grounded.
"Aunt Muriel I'm sorry but I need a bed now. Arthur dear I need the labor bag. Ginny darling go hold Tonks hand." Immediately these thing were done while she herself made large bowls of hot water and summoned some of Muriel's towels. They wouldn't be completely old school but Molly wouldn't put her lessons on having babies to waste. It was a mess magical or not. There wasn't going to be time for most things to be done by wand. The couch turned into a bed allowing Tonks to sit or lay back comfortably.
Truth be told Molly was thankful for the task. Her children were all in danger. The word they received said the trio escaped the Malfoy Manor. While Bill and Fleur had safety of their home being pre protected and off ministry grid, the twins with were here with them, and Charlie out of the country there was still other children to worry about. Percy, Ron, and though not her blood but like her children Harry and Hermione were all immediate risk. Ginny, much like her mother expected, was holding Tonks's hand and soothing her back with a slightly one handed massage.
"On the run and bringing a pregnancy Arthur a better heads up in the future."
"Oh thank you Aunt Muriel. We just found out about the family being flagged thanks to Shacklebolt.. However Tonks never said she was in labor what happened!?"
"I didn't want to interrupt dinner!" Tonks vented her pain as she spoke.
"Don't yell at the poor thing." He gets swatted for his tone but not one for the mess she tended to only linger to make sure the nothing went unmanaged. Regardless of Molly's efforts some of the clutter would disappear. Even from what Ginny could see of the mess that came, from Tonks pushing, it was banished away. Though Muriel would never admit the subtle intervention so she might seem like the best hostess Tonks was the type of person to beg her profusely to forgive her intrusion the moment Teddy was cleaned and given his first feeding.
No one breathed to loudly the first time she held him. He cried in good health and settled right down looking up at her. Tonks beamed at him and brought her smile to face Ginny. She hadn't left her side but was silently resigned to let Tonks have her first mother experiences alone unless other wise asked. The first feed, first diaper change, and so on. Even so now looking into her soft eyes Ginny wanted to lean in peak at the baby and share in that moment.
"Come here." It wasn't her imagination when Tonks leaned towards her. Holding out her arms to give Teddy to Ginny instead of the other way around. "He needs to see the most beautiful person in the world." It was Corny but just like Tonks hoped Ginny blushed as she took him.
"You're the most stunning giving birth an still looking amazing for it."
"He's got me spent honest I feel like a achy mule dying in the desert. I just need some rest soon as I find your Aunt and thank her for her shelter and kindness." Ginny looks at her as she says this and sweetly says in return.
"Take all the time you need but be careful and mom and I will make arrangements upstairs whenever you are ready to sleep." Though she wanted Tonks to lay down now she let her go and called over her mother instead. "She's pretty tired should she be settle upstairs or down. Are we all safe here really?"
"She's fine wherever sweetheart. I'm sure after she gets no confession from Aunt Muriel about her backseat driving my work she'll come back here to sleep. I'll make him a little cot. He looks so darling." Just sneaking a peek Molly pinched Ginny's check as if she wanted to pinch his and scurried off.
"I'm proud of you Gin." Her dad came up patting her on the shoulder opposite of little Teddy's head. "You were there, supportive, and you wanted to be there. You didn't back down from the situation. You've grown up a lot over the years. I don't think I'll ever be willing to say your old enough to fight or be in the order but you are my little girl and I'm sorry I always make you feel underestimated. Its really not that uncommon you and Tonks. She only a few years older than Harry and you. I cant really complain it not like 6 years is a lot."
"I know dad you jumped the gun but obviously so did we. I know that now but really you both raised me better than that. I wouldn't get involved not knowing what it meant. Tonks and I are not underaged at least I'm not anymore. I want to help tons as much as she will let me. Eventually I really want to really make her family."
"She is already. A family that births together stays together." He kisses her forehead also checking out the baby in his own way. At this point she feels like she's only getting talked to for the sake of seeing Teddy but none the less she feels better for it.
Fred and George disappeared as soon as Tonks had laid down and Molly warned everyone she was starting. Tonks found them rummaging around the room they were going to occupy. Though she was comfortable when Arthur stayed she noticed he was never anywhere near her or moving from his spot to help his wife.
"Hey thanks for making yourselves scarce before I wasn't sure if you had left once I was really ready but I realized after the fog of the moment cleared."
"Yeah of course." They say in unison Fred was sure to offer her a no big deal grin while George hugged her first in congratulations. Then visa-versa almost identical try as they might they just were a little more obvious now. Always had been to her but now more so than before.
"Aunt Muriel likes to hide all her heirlooms when family come over we like to Knick them until we leave" George explains their rummaging instead of unpacking.
"for a bit of fun." Fred adds.
"I'm sure it is just try not to go over board its gonna be a while here for all of us." Tonks says as she leaves them to it. They mimic a teasing "okay mum" making her laugh.
"Muriel…Muriel its Tonks. I just had the baby… oh Merlin! Hi. I wanted to find you to thank you for all your help and letting me intrude in your home. Molly and Arthur have been extremely kind to keep me in hiding this year and my son now too. Thank you truly."
"Of course child Aunt Muriel doesn't mind. Its what we Prewett's do. Weasley's just breed like gnomes."
"Well after everything baby Teddy may be my little Weasley Miracle." Joking Tonks laughs but Muriel doesn't look amused. "Sorry I thought it was an honorable idea. Not like I can give him my ex husbands last name." Nothing still just a drilling sense of distasteful comments being held back. "Okay well again thank you. I'm drained but I won't be under foot long."
Finding her way back to the make-shift bed sofa she has an overwhelming sense of tiredness. Beside Ginny and her son once more she coos him as Ginny hands him back to her. Rolling onto her side and spooning him between herself and Ginny she fell asleep.
