Chapter 3: Nice to meet you Vengeance
He would use his fear as his ally. His enemies would share his dread. He used his wealth and ingenuity to create the suit. And he was gonna make this a symbol of justice and vengeance. And he would be known as... The Human-Bat.
Bruce had been working on a special suit to conceal his identity as well as protect his body on his new mission. To rid crime out of his once great city. It was his parents dream to make Gotham a peaceful paradise. And he would fight to make it so.
Little did he know the woman he loved had a different mission. To take what wasn't hers. To steal all she could steal from the world. Just like the world stole her child from her.
She changed into her suit, grabbed a duffle bag, her whip, and headed out the window. Then she snuck into the garage and took the all black Ducati motorcycle out into the night.
Bruce walked over to the bookcase in his room. He grabbed the one book he new Selina wouldn't touch... Twilight. It triggered a switch that turned the bookcase around leading to a secret room. He walked in, there were two buttons on the wall in this little room. One with an arrow pointing up, the other with an arrow pointing down. He pushed the down arrow. The bookcase moved back to its normal position, and the little room he was in was an elevator leading down below the house itself.
He called this place the cave. Mainly because it was an actual cave, located below the house. When he discovered it, he decided this would make a great headquarters/hide out for the Human-Bat.
Inside the cave he had a tarp over his favorite new possession. He removed the tarp off of the car he had built from scratch himself. A V-8 engine powering an all black vehicle that resembled a 60's style muscle car. This machine could outrun any other car on the face of the earth. It could take a hit from a tank easily. Hell it could take a nearly a dozen hits and still work like a dream. He hoped in, and headed out into the night himself.
Selina had her eyes set on something big. The Cat's Heart diamond on display in the Museum. It was gonna be auctioned to the highest bidder soon. If anyone was gonna own such an amazing cat themed Item, it was gonna be her. Sure she could have Bruce buy it for her easily... But where's the fun in that?
Bruce made his way to the outskirts of the city and listened in on Police radio traffic. He ignored the Karens calling the cops on petty things. He waited for something that only he could intervene in.
She made her way into the museum, through the window, but she accidentally tripped the alarm.
"Dammit Selina!" She cursed herself. "That was sloppy." She figured she could get the diamond and escape the police in time. Little did she know that the Human-Bat, would be there in half the time as the police.
She made her way to the diamond's display case. It looked so beautiful. The diamond was as bright green as her emerald eyes. She used her claws to cut a hole in the glass and remove it.
She turned and saw him standing there. The Cat Burglar and The Human Bat wee face to face.
They both took a second to admire the others creative costume.
"So who are you supposed to be?" The Cat asked.
"I'm Vengeance." He answered in a low almost growl.
She let out a chuckle. "Nice to meet you 'vengeance'." She said in a mocking growl. "I gotta get going."
"Leave the jewel." He demanded.
"Why?" She asked.
"It doesn't belong to you."
"I'm holding it aren't i? And i plan on taking it home... Seems like it belongs to me."
"I'd rather not hurt a lady."
"I wouldn't sweat it. You won't."
She lashed her whip at him. He caught it with a heavily gloved hand. It hurt but he could take it.
"Damn. This guy might be tough." She thought.
He tightened his grip on her whip and pulled her closer to him. She went along with her momentum and threw a punch. He caught it and wrapped her arm up.
She stared deep into his eyes. His powerful presence. So familiar. "Have we met before?"
Her beautiful yet fierce presence also seemed familiar.
"I think we have." He answered. "Falcone's night club."
"Yea, that's it." She looked him up and down. "Gotta say, I love the new suit."
He admired her body through the skin tight leather. "Yea, yours isn't so bad either."
She saw he was slightly distracted. She swept his leg from under him and made her escape. He got up quickly and chased after her. He caught up to her in the ally where she stashed her bike. She threw a flurry of punches and kicks. He backed up and perfectly blocked all of her shots before landing a solid punch right to her sternum, knocking her down.
"How could you?" She cried. "Im a woman!"
He shook his head. "I'm not falling for that one."
She shrugged it was worth a try. Again she took her whip and lashed it at him. This time he dodged the strike.
She got up quickly and smiled. "You really need to learn how to treat a lady."
"Funny. I didn't realize I was dealing with a 'lady'."
The police sirens stopped them dead in their tracks. Both exits of the alleyway were blocked off.
"You are surrounded. Stay still with you hands up." The captain ordered.
The Bat turned to The Cat who had already mounted her Bike.
"That was fun. We should do this again sometime... Assuming you make it out of this." She revved up her bike and charged the police cruiser blocking off the alleyway.
"No! Stop! Stop!" The officer ordered.
But she went as fast as possible. She leaned back and lifted up the front wheel and set it down on the hood of the police car. It made a suitable ramp for her to jump the car, out of the ally, and onto the street. A few cars chased after her.
The rest of the police stayed with the male suspect.
"Don't even think about trying anything!" They shouted.
Bruce took a toy he was gifted from his friend in Wayne Enterprises Applied Science Division. It was a grapple gun. He fired it at the ledge of the nearby roof and was quickly shot up into the air.
"Who the hell are these people?" One of the officers asked.
On the radio they heard, "Control. We lost the female suspect on the bike."
"After him! I'm not losing two assholes in one night."
They followed The Bat as he made his way to a parking garage. They blocked off all exits.
"Got him like a rat in a trap." The captain said pleased.
They then heard the roar of a loud engine as red headlights emerged from the darkness.
"You may have the wrong animal there, sir."
A black car shot out of the garage like a bullet. It ran straight through one of the cruisers like tissue paper, and headed off into the night.
"What the hell was that?" The Captain shrieked.
"No clue." One of the officers replied. "But I want one."
Bruce made it back to the cave, got out of the car, and ripped his mask off. He knew he was gonna have to make some adjustments. The middle portion of the mask that concealed his whole face was restricting his breathing too much.
And now he had to know who was that amazing woman. She blew him away that first night months ago at the night club. But just then at the museum was something else.
Selina had already made it back and was too amped up from the chase to even think about going to bed.
She went down to the kitchen and saw Bruce. He was just walking through there from the secret exit of the cave in the study.
"Hey Bruce." She said.
"Selina." He looked around for an excuse. "I just came down to get some water."
"Yep." Selina replied. "Water."
After their glass of water, they looked at each other and made their way over to the couch to make love.
But the entire time they did it, he imagined her as the Cat burglar and she imagined him as the Bat vigilante.
