And now, we focus on the first part of the good ending, in which things... well, might take an interesting turn for Arnold.
As Arnold and Lulu enjoy each other in one universe, in another, Arnold had thankfully been saved just in time from Lulu's clutches, all thanks in part to Helga herself, who herself got a temporary boost of bravery thanks to Phoebe's kind words. Thusly, when she escaped from the hospital to find Arnold, who had not only passed her when he was going to the train station to meet up with Lulu, she became witness to everything that had went on. Of course, the minute she noticed "Lulu" getting uncomfortable around Arnold, she immediately recognized her as Lila. But she couldn't approach, wondering what was about to happen. She noted Arnold's mixed looks, indicating that while he still had a heart for Lulu, he seemed pretty mixed in the fact that she would do something... as horrible. Of course, then the police came, and Helga was there to witness Arnold making his choice. Of course, in one universe, where Arnold chose Lulu, she was saddened, but knew he made his choice. She didn't even make any attempt to stop Lulu from taking Arnold away, as she knew the last person anybody wanted to see was him, so she quietly went back to the shadows and got back in the hospital bed, with no one being the wiser.
Of course, in this universe, that didn't happen. Arnold had chosen to save Lila over Lulu, and for that brief moment, her heart fluttered. Arnold had quickly saw Lulu for the harlot she truly was, and if it hadn't been for her stepping in, Lulu would have truly gotten away with Arnold. Still, it was a brief moment of victory for her, but even though she now understood that none of what happened was Arnold's fault, she still was feeling a bit wary. Even though a couple months later, when Arnold and Helga had made a little progress, having their first conversation after a long while, there was still that tension.
As for Arnold himself, there was still a little bit of recovering he had to do. From time to time, he still attended school, but had a little bit more private lessons with some other teachers so as to not spend some time with his old class (due to the fact that Lila had told all the girls about Arnold's... skirt looking habits). He didn't know how long until he felt safe to participate with his old friends and classmates again, but there was still the fact that despite trying his best to go back to a normal life, things were not as simple as they seemed...
As a matter of fact, after their first conversation in a long while, Arnold was about to meet up with somebody that he never thought he'd meet again...
As Arnold was walking out of the office and outside the door, he couldn't help but give a small smile as he looked at the afternoon sun just getting ready to settle. Sure, it wasn't much, but he was glad to be home in his city. And it was good that he was managing to talk to his friends again after so long... he couldn't help but smile, though, as he somehow felt right in talking with Helga, sharing their problems and feeling good. Arnold's shoulder angel and devil appeared as they patted the boy on the neck.
As he waited outside, someone had noticed Arnold outside as she approached.
"Well, well, if it isn't Mr. Good In Bed!"
Arnold winced a bit as he turned around to see a familiar African American girl wearing blue walking over to him. Arnold bit his lip nervously as he looked down in shame. "Uh, hello... Chloe, was it?"
Chloe gave a small grin as she bent over. "So, you do remember me, huh?"
Arnold gave a nervous smile before noting that something was different about Chloe... like she had recently gotten a bit bigger around the tummy. Chloe looked over as she looked down, "I was meaning to talk to you, but I never could find you. I wanted to say that... I'm sorry about your girlfriend."
"Who? Oh... her." Arnold frowned as he crossed his arms. "Don't worry about it. She was nothing more than a bad memory. And... I'm sorry if we got you involved."
Chloe grinned as she rubbed her belly. "Don't worry about it. Things have certainly changed a lot for me. I gave up the smoking habit."
"Oh, well... that's good, I suppose." Arnold said as he turned to Chloe. "Is there any reason you came to me, other than apologizing?"
"Oh... well, yes, actually." Chloe paused as she crossed her leg, shuffling it a little. "I was wondering if you would do me a favor... I need a date for a special occasion, and I happened to think about you. I know that you're still recovering, but I was thinking... maybe we can recover together, just the two of us?"
Chloe fluttered her eyes at the boy as Arnold looked over at Chloe. His shoulder angel and shoulder devil looked at each other as if agreeing on the same thing, before looking up to Arnold, who was looking down at them.
Arnold looked over and shook her head. "No, I'm sorry. I can't. There's a lot I'm still uncovering for myself, and... the last thing I want right now is a date."
Chloe covered her mouth in surprise as she looked down at her round belly. "It doesn't have to be a date. Maybe we can just hang out for an ice cream or... play a board game, or... something."
Arnold shook his head. "I'm sorry, Chloe. You're probably nice, but I'm going through a lot of things right now."
Chloe looked down in disappointment, before sighing, "All right, I guess I understand. But... can we still be friends? I would very much like to talk to you, if you're not busy."
Arnold paused, looking over at his shoulder devil and angel, who looked doubtful.
"Well?" The shoulder devil asked, looking over at the shoulder angel.
"It does seem like quite the dilemma." The shoulder angel paused as he looked at the shoulder devil.
"She does seem like she wants to be genuine friends." The shoulder devil said.
"Well... why don't we wait and see what happens. Accept for now, but... wait until we get more answers..." Arnold's shoulder angel gave a nod.
Arnold paused as he looked up to the African-American girl. "Sure."
Chloe grinned as she pulled out a notepad and pencil and wrote down a number, before giving it to Arnold. "Thank you. Give me a call if you're not too busy."
With that, Arnold watched as Chloe walked off, humming a little bit as she was rubbing her belly. Arnold couldn't quite put his finger on it, but he could have sworn that she looked-
"No way... I'm nine. I couldn't possibly be that good to start... producing." Arnold shook his head... before pausing. "Could I? And if I was... does that mean... no... impossible. I couldn't have done..."
A couple minutes later, a familiar Packard arrived at the curb, Arnold still standing and thinking as the windows rolled down. Phil looked out the window with a small smile, before noting a concerned face. "Hey, Shortman. You seem troubled."
"H-huh?" Arnold blinked before shaking his head. "S-sorry. There's... something troubling me."
Phil paused as Arnold opened the car door and entered in the front seat, before buckling up. "Uh-oh. You didn't have that urge again, did you? Those... fantasies? Because... if you need to go to somewhere private, we can park in a dark alley and I'll leave to get..."
"No, no, nothing like that." Arnold shook his head... before pausing. "Well... maybe. I don't know. I'm still just as confused."
"Hmmm..." Phil paused. "It's not that female doctor, is it? You didn't find her..."
"NO! No, no, no! I promise you, it's nothing like that. Dr. Bliss is just fine." Arnold shook his head rapidly. "I make sure to look at her eyes, I told you that. No, it's after the therapy session with her..." Arnold paused. "I... er... I ran into Helga today."
Phil blinked twice, before his eyes widened before putting on a small smile. "Oh, the little girl you always team up with for projects? How is she doing? Okay?"
"Well..." Arnold paused. "I suppose so. We talked for a little while, trying to catch up with everything. She's been putting on a brave face with me around, but... I don't know. Part of me can tell that her body language just... isn't okay. Like, she and I are comfortable talking with each other, we can still exchange some jokes and some good comforting ideas, but... I'm worried for her, Grandpa. When Gerald told me about what happened to Helga, I... I don't know, I just wanted to tell her everything was okay, and that... that..." Arnold bit his lip nervously as he looked towards his grandfather.
Phil noted Arnold's discomforting look, knowing who he wanted to refer to. "You can say her name."
"...LULU and her friend Fifi. Being humiliated and raped, I... I just can't comprehend it." Arnold looked down.
"That's just the way things are, Shortman. Sometimes the world can be pretty cruel. You think life can be fun and games for one minute, but then the rules change and you suddenly get thrown into a situation you have no control over." Phil said as he turned the car to the left. Phil paused before eyeing Arnold for a moment. "Speaking of that red haired harlot that tried to kidnap you... you don't still have feelings for her, do you?"
"Not exactly... not after what she did, but... at the same time, I feel sort of bad for her." Arnold looked down. "I mean, it wasn't exactly Lulu's fault she was raised that way, it was her mom who put all these thoughts in her head. It's just... I don't know, I hear that Lulu is terrible, and I get that, but... when you think about it, isn't the real villain her mother, the one who raised her in the first place?"
"It's like people say, what people do with their actions is their responsibility. We may never really know if Lulu is truly a victim or if she really WAS inspired by her mother." Phil said, before noting the small piece of paper still in his hand. "What do you got there, Shortman?"
"Oh!" Arnold looked up and grinned nervously. "Uh, this? Well... truth be told, Helga wasn't the only girl I ran into today."
"Hm?" Phil raised an eyebrow.
"Do you remember that girl I told you about that Lulu and I ran into, when I was still in her ways?" The football headed kid asked.
"The one who tried to offer you a smoke after sex? Come on, Shortman, I think most of us saw the video." Phil rolled his eyes, before smirking. "I have to admit though, I had no idea you had the guts to actually do it. I mean, having a three-way session with two girls? Wow... not even I could have attained that."
"Grandpa." Arnold lowered his eyelids, before shaking his head. "Anyway, we happened to ran into each other as I was coming out of the therapy session to wait for you. We talked for a while, and she asked me out on a date."
Phil slammed the brakes upon hearing that as he turned to Arnold in surprise. "You're kidding me."
"I told her no, of course, told her I just wasn't ready for it." Arnold explained. "She completely understood, but she still wants to know me a little more."
"Oh." Phil paused in surprise. "Have to admit, Shortman, it's not every day you meet up with someone you previously had sex with who wants to know more about you. I'm guessing that's her number?"
Arnold nodded. "She said to give a call whenever we could meet up sometime."
"Do you want to?" Phil asked.
Arnold paused as he looked down. "I'm not quite sure yet. Part of me wants to say yes, but I'm worried that things might be like Lulu again. On the other hand, I think she was most affected by her too."
The old man looked over at his grandson with a raised eyebrow, before giving a whistle. "Hmmmm... well, if you think she's serious about wanting to know you, I'd say at least call her up. Who knows? Maybe she wants to know the person outside the world, right?"
"You think so?" Arnold looked up.
"Shortman, if there's one thing you'd never do, it's to turn down someone who gave you her number. At least give her the benefit of doubt, hm?" Phil said as the Packard stopped at the backend of the Sunset Arms building. "Who knows? Maybe things would turn out well."
"I suppose you're right..." Arnold said as he opened the door... before pausing. "Uh, Grandpa? Something else I want to ask. Would it be possible for a nine year old to impregnate a thirteen year old girl?"
Phil looked over towards Arnold as he raised an eyebrow. "Why do you ask, Shortman?"
"I just want to know, that's all." Arnold said nervously.
Phil looked over at Arnold, having an equally nervous stare. "Well... normally, no. It's not possible for nine year olds to start producing that quick... unless of course someone hit precocious puberty."
Arnold winced a bit. Phil raised an eyebrow as he looked at Arnold. "Is this why you're worried, Shortman?"
"I could be wrong, but... maybe, just maybe..." Arnold paused nervously.
The two stayed silent before Phil gave a nod. "I think it'd be in your best interest to at least give her a call. I'd like to meet her personally myself, if that's all right."
Arnold gave a nod as he started to run inside, leaving Phil to stand in the yard. He quickly dug in his pocket and pulled out a small piece of paper he had recently received from the mailman. Of course, when he noted it was from Spireville, Phil opened up the letter and looked over the signature, which was written as "LULU". He had every right of mind to throw it away later, but he couldn't help but look over the letter as he bit his lip.
Dearest Arnold,
I hope this letter receives you and I hope you're doing quite well. First, let me catch you up on what's going on. My mother, Fifi and I are currently hiding away in a distant area somewhere in Spireville, which you can't even find us. Don't bother turning this letter in to the police, stud. By the time they track the address on the envelope, we'll be long gone. But that's not why I'm writing to you. I'm writing because... well, I miss you. I love you and I want to stay by your side. Even if you do not think the same way after hearing what I did, at least hear me out. I know things have been changing quite a lot, and I'm sure that every day, deep down, you're still thinking of me when we enjoy our lovely times together. Well, you don't have to worry about me cheating on someone else. I absolutely refused to have sex with any other boy... I only want you, my stud. I understand if you don't want to come back, especially after what I did, but... I feel you deserve to know something. Attached is a picture of me. Don't worry, I didn't binge-eat. Our little escapades together frankly assured that a little... Arnold Jr... or maybe Lulu Jr... is currently on the way. If you don't want to come to me, I respect that. My mother doesn't seem to agree, but I will respect whatever choice you make. I just... want you to come back to me. Please.
Love, your beautiful princess,
Lulu Verisity
It wasn't the words that made Phil nervous, but rather the attached picture, showing Lulu dressed in her normal clothes, but being a little rounder around the middle.
"So... it wasn't just a bragging exaggeration on the tape..." Phil said to himself as he gave a loud sigh. "Oh, great Scott, I could very well be a great-grandparent... or that little girl could easily die from childbirth, whichever one comes first."
And that's the good ending path. There's more to it than that, but we'll dive deep next time, for in the next chapter, we'll go back to Arnold and Lulu in the other universe and find out how they escape the train! Find out next time!
