There are various categories of deities.
God:
- There is, of course, the conciousness of the Universe itself, Omniva. At least, for this universe. If there is a conciousness above her, is unknown... though theorized by many civilizations.
- She is nothing more then a living organism, a truly massive organism, trillions of years old, but an organism all the same. She is merely more aware of the creatures that make up her body then most lifeforms. From galaxies to single celled organisms. Although rumor has it, Sapient lifeforms are her favorite.
gods:
- Always with a lower case "g".
- Most of these entities were once mortals, but ascended past the need for a physical body. Beyond even the restrictions of energy itself. Living purely as conciousness alone, although often taking form, it is not mandatory.
- Their only limits are the Cosmic forces that they command. Usually involving three universal laws: Such as time, space, choice, fate, destruction, creation, reality, magic, life, death, and all the other abstract laws of the universe mortals can't fully comprehend. Mortals might be able to grasp the "How", but it takes a divine intellect to comprehend the "Why".
- gods can be manifested by the belief of others. If enough people believe in them, truly believe, then they will come into existence. Which is what happened with gods like "Santa" and the various religions. However, after they are created, they become independent.
- Mortals often worship these entities as their "divine creators". Despite most of them having nothing to do with the actual act of creation.
- There are many breeds of gods. However such deities are not completely omnipotent nor all powerful. They have a great amount of power but do have limits. Most gods can see much of the past, future, and present, but not their own. Well other deities see only the past, future, and present of their own history and nothing else (trying to direct the infinite number of possible futures how they want).
- Each race of gods live in a different realm of existence. They will frequently collect the souls of deceased mortals they favor, or that worship them, and reincarnate them into their realm. Mostly as Celestials, or Demons, or Elementals. The gods of death will capture souls, and merely allow the body-less spirits to float about their realm, until they can be reincarnated as mortals again. Most Souls, are collected by gods of death, that's major goal is to stop the other gods from growing too powerful.
- It depends on what type of Diety, for what they will do with the souls they collect. As the more lifeforms, living in their realm, the more powerful the diety is. So it is best to reincarnate the soul into something long lived, or outright immortal.
- mortals create a contract, by praying to, or making deals with, a specific deity. Depending on who answers it, is what deity their soul belongs to. Praying to the conciousness of the Universe, Omniva, will get you reincarnated by a god of Death, as she has no need of collecting souls as technically, everything belongs to her.
Devils:
- The opposite force to gods. Cosmic parasites, feeding off the universe. The Cosmic version of a flue virus.
- Although gods keep these entities in check, they are just as powerful as one another, and just as immortal.
- They come in a great many different species. Most recognizable by having a different type of cosmic frequency.
God-Killers:
- In the same bracket of power, as gods and devils, are "God-Killers". These are mortal lifeforms of ultimate power. They typically have lifespans so long they might as well not be mortal, most living 10s of thousands if not billions of years, but can still die.
- These are entities like living planets. They are powerful enough to compete with deities but still bound to mortality. Even the few that can't die of old age, can still die through injuries or disease.
Celestials:
- Creatures of energy and consciousness. More limited then gods, as they are bound by the laws of physics and magic.
- Where most are created, by gods reincarnating the souls of mortals. A rare few mortals are capable of ascending on their own. Either by sheer power, will, or technological advancement. Which allows their conciousness to abandon the need for atoms and subatomic particles, and live as energy constructs. Turning their body into solid, and most importantly fleshy, energy. With no trace of matter. However, they still need a physical form to interact with the universe. Although, when they die, they can just build themselves a new body.
- Celestials come in many different species. Although all of which have a similar Magical Frequency (not cosmic). With slight variations between species.
- While a rare few are powerful enough to destroy a Galaxy, with a single burst of magic. Most are limited to Solar System Busters. With even their new borns capable of destroying a moon. Most ascended Celestials start out as Planet Buster mortals. That is, mortals capable of destroying planets.
Fiends:
- an Animal Kingdom of Sapient Monsters, created by devils.
- While varied, they tend to have similar magical frequencies... uniquely necessary to survive by eating souls.
- They are the manifestation of mortals darkest desires and thoughts. AKA the 7 deadly sins. Although there are various species of Fiend, from each sin.
- Fiends reproduce by infecting the mind of a mortal, festering their darkest impulses to the point it manifest as their own personal Monster. However, on rare instances, a fiend will rape a human, purely for the purpose of creating a half fiend, to twist and exploit.
- Fiends are one of the few truly evil things in the universe, with no redeeming qualities. Their very nature prevents them from being anything else.
- However, it should be noted, that half fiends aren't bound by that same evil, and can have a wide range of emotions and perceptions. Which is partly why full blooded fiends create them. So they can have something to torture.
Fae:
- AKA Fairies or Fay.
- Fairies are often mischievous... and can be extremely dangerous.
- They perceive reality far differently then mortals. Even using alternative logic then what humans comprehend. Only the most well versed fae, in mortal nature, can even speak with mortals. As they just think too differently to converse in a way either can understand.
- Fae are as varied as animals, although all are Sapient.
- The most powerful fae exist as living pocket dimensions, with various lower fae living inside them. From common annoyances, like pixies, to races of fae so powerful, they could destroy the dimension they inhabit with a passing thought.
Elemental:
- A living manifestation of a Cosmic Force. Not all of which can be comprehended by mortals. Although the Obvious ones are "Fire", "Water", "Earth", and "Air".
- Elementals are not "good" or "evil", rather they are a physical manifestation of nature. Some can appear evil, such as how Dementors are physical "manifestations" of "Death", but in truth, they have a more neutral alignment. Individuals can lean towards good or evil, but the species is neutral. Caring more for the cosmic balance of their element, then any ideals of "mercy" or even "vengeance". They are all about balance.
- Elementals come in many different species, per element. There is no standard evolution. They tend to pop up, in a given area, and expand from there.
- While Elementals, as a species, are a manifestation of a specific cosmic force, as they are also living lifeforms, individuals usually have an affinity for a wide range of magicks. Such as a Frost giant, while being a manifestation of ice, can have an affinity for chaos magic. Meaning they are better at that type of magic.
Dragons:
- While Dragons are technically a type of elemental, as they are a manifestation of magic itself, they also have a completely different magical signature, from other elementals. Making them their own unique Animal Kingdom.
- Like the above entities, dragons are capable of building themselves a new body, after death. However, they usually need help from another dragon, as well as access to at least a part of their previous body.
- Dragons have a strong Elemental affinity, in the form of a breath attack... usually fire based, but not exclusively. Some races of dragon have unique breath attacks.
- Dragons have the oldest known civilization in the mortal universe, over 40 thousand years old.
- They are capable of traveling at Star Trek Style warp speeds, naturally. That is, without need of a star ship. They can survive the vacuum of space, and are near impervious to both hot and cold temperatures.
- They are the living manifestation of magic itself, and evolved in asteroid belts within this sector. However, since then, they have settled on many planets within their Star Cluster. They have also spread beyond it, though they prefer to settle on more primitive planets with high traces of Magic.
- Despite being one of the most intelligent and magically powerful races, they are viewed by most other species as Monsters. Due to their large / frightening appearance and primitive culture. Dragons are so magically powerful, they have never had a reason to advance.
- Dragons also require a great deal of food to survive, which often results in them eating other sapient lifeforms, which doesn't help other races opinion that they are "Monsters".
- Another result of dragons needing to consume so much food, is they can't feed their young on their own. Instead, dragons lay their eggs in communal nest, that are looked after by a "Dragon Lord". This "Dragon Lord" acts as both Nanny and ruler to all the young dragons. They are left with a literal Army of Kobolds, to gather food for their dragons. The Kobolds are also responsible for teaching the babies and toddlers. While the Dragon Lord looks after the children and teenagers directly. Teaching them survival skills.
- When The dragons reach adulthood, they are expected to leave the nest, and find their own patch of land, isolated from other dragons. This way they don't have to fight for resources.
- The adult dragons might be largely isolated from each other, but they still have a set of social norms, if not a few direct rules, taught to them by their Dragon Lord. They have a hierarchy based on species. Which as is follows:
• Eastern Dragons.
Viewed as the dragon royalty, as they are the most magically powerful and rarest of all dragon species. Their word is treated with an almost holy writ.
• True Dragons.
Gold Dragons, Silver Dragons, Black Dragons, White Dragons, Green Dragons, Blue Dragons, etc.
These are the nobles of the Dragon Hierarchy. The more pronounce the color, the higher they are in the Hierarchy. With Metallic and Chronomatic dragons often butting heads, as if they were from rival families.
• Equus Dragons.
The Warrior cast of dragons, based on MLP. They are used as the foot soldiers of the dragon hierarchy. The closest thing to "Police" dragons have.
Though these dragons never naturally get bigger then 7 feet tall, they can alter their size to be even bigger then True dragons, or as small as an ant.
They can use touch based spells, as well as turn matter into energy and store it in their internal flames (to be retrieved later). They also have an Alchemy breath, where they use their fire to transform something into something else (usually turning rocks into Lyrium Crystals for them to eat). They can also turn matter into energy, but instead of storing it, they can send it to someone they know. As well as have people send things to them if they are aware of their magical signature.
• Mythology Dragons.
Western Dragons, Wyvern Dragons, Aquatic Dragons, Furred Dragons, Serpent Dragons, etc.
The various working class dragons. These various dragon races are seen more as the average citizens, with roles in society based on their race.
• Lower Dragon.
Night Fury, etc.
Dragon races that are no more intelligent then Sapient toddlers. They are seen as sacred creatures, in need of protection and guidance.
• Beast Dragons.
Dragonne, Hydra, ect.
Various types of Draconic animals.
• Dragon Anthros.
Comes in all forms of Dragon. They are Sapient, though not as powerful as their larger counterparts.
• Kobold.
A servant class. Although they are usually treasured by the other dragon races, they are considered more as talking pets, that do housework.
Kobolds usually grow no bigger then 2 feet tall.
It is extremely rare for Kobolds to have wings. As such, these individuals are praised in Kobold culture. Usually trained as priest, healers, and spell casters.
• Part Dragon Subrace.
Half Dragon, Draconic Sorcerer, etc.
Individuals with only half dragon ancestry, or lower, are even lower in social standing, then Kobolds. And not really as well respected. If anything, they tend to be hated by pure blooded dragons. Often shunned, even by their dragon parent.
These "Partial Dragons" often form their own societies, away from full-blooded dragons.
Demons:
- demons are often used by devils, however they are not actually created by them. Demons are a natural part of the universe. Usually living in the space between dimensions, or pocket dimensions with a thin barrier.
- In truth, demons originated as different kinds of mortal lifeforms. From Sapient to lower animals, that got trapped in the space between dimensions, and fundamentally altered by the unique background radiation.
- Demons are often despised by gods and Celestials, as they are not actually a part of any dimension, and travel between them so carelessly. Which causes all kinds of problems in the force of Destiny.
- It's believed, the very radiation that creates demons, was placed their by the gods of choice, AKA Free Will, just for the purpose of pissing off the gods of fate. This was confirmed by the demons ability to permanently bind themselves to a particular dimension. Giving themselves over to the fates, and losing the ability to interfere with Destiny. After all, the ultimate choice, is to have a choice.
Subrace :
There are various hybrid races, of immortals and mortals, that deities call on as their champions.
Demigod:
the offspring of a deity. Although usually the product of a deity breeding with a mortal, sometimes they don't have a mother, but rather are a slice of the Deity's soul and sculpted based on a mortal race.
They have powers, based on the three domains of their immortal parent.
Demi-Celestial:
These are often assigned as "Guardian Angels", as they can interfere with mortal affairs, and aren't usually as powerful as a typical Celestial entity.

Discord:
the Draconequus god of chaos and as such he is Chaotic Good.
Discord was originally created as a force of nature by Starswirl, as a side effect of creating the Tree of Harmony. As Harmony and Chaos are two forces of the Universe, when Starswirl created the Elements he accidentally gave life to Discord as well (as a kind of "Yin Yang" balance to the universe).
Starswirl decided to use him to overthrow the Alicorn Dynasty. Raising Discord alongside the living planets Celestia and Luna, but Discord started as a child like any other. Although a very powerful one.
After Starswirl disappeared, Discord was shunned by ponies and forced to flee the planet. He traveled across time and space, even to other planets, where he would play pranks on their inhabitants. The pranks growing more and more malicious. He was eventually discovered by the Q Continuum, who were gods of both Chaos and Order. He was at first welcomed by them and allowed to join, but being a god of pure chaos he didn't fit in there either.
He began testing Humanity at the request of the Q where he met Jean-Luc Picard. Although Discord felt a genuine kinship with the crew of the Enterprise, especially Picard, they did not reciprocate.
He eventually left the Q and created his own dimension, along with his own race. However the Draconequus he created feared him as well... he did not react well to them shunning him, and turned his dimension into a realm of hell, torturing his creations for the perceived insult.
He eventually grew bored of even that, and left for Equestria, to get revenge on the beings that started this cycle of abandonment.
He eventually saw the error of his ways. When he was finally embraced by a mortal, Fluttershy, and shown friendship for the first time in trillions of years (due to time traveling). He has been trying to earn forgiveness from his Draconequus creations ever since.

The Q Continuum:
The Q are an immortal species from the Q Continuum realm, who possess the ability of instantaneous matter-energy transformation and teleportation, as well as the ability to time travel, through the use of the Q Continuum. They have control over space, matter, and time, and have an average IQ of 2000. Their powers extend to those around them, and they can manipulate just about anything in this way.
While most Q are fairly respectable, some can be rather mischievous and are frequently considered annoying to other "lower" races. Oddly, all Q are named Q.

Guinan:
Originally from a race of listeners called the "El-Aurians". A long lived race, which aren't even considered adults until they are a thousand. Living, on average, to be a million. This made it easy for Guinan to hide her true nature. She was once trapped in a tear in reality, called the "Nexus". Which she was eventually forced out, but a piece of it stayed inside her, turning her into a god. This was largely a fluke, as it is not typical when people leave the Nexus. She remained in the Mortal Verse. Acting as guide to whoever needed her.

• Living Planet:
From Doctor who and Guardians of the Galaxy. A giant disembodied brain, floating in space.
Can convert energy into matter, and uses this ability to build a shell around itself for protection. They usually make the shells look like planets or stars but some create more oddly shaped worlds around themselves (like squares and other unnatural shapes for planets). Some even create themselves a planetary body that looks like a giant head.
Many, like the two sisters, create themselves a physical Avatar they can use to explore other worlds and stars. It is essentially a puppet they can see and speak through, even feel through. However the Avatar has to return to their planetary body every few years, or it starts to weaken, and will eventually die. However, the Avatar can live away from it for thousands of years without deteriorating. It will merely become as week as a mortal, while the planetary body remains just as powerful. However Avatar bodies are extremely hard to make and can take hundreds of years to create, for a living planet as young as Celestia (who is only a few million years old). Living Planets have a life expectancy of 10 billion years, and get better at creating things as they get older. Celestia is still a child by her people's standards but has matured quickly due to her life experiences while living in Equestria.
