When 'phoning' another gate, you need to 'type' a 'number'. In this case, you need to type a celestial representation of surrounding stellar bodies in order to establish a stable artificial wormhole.

A wormhole or Einstein–Rosen bridge is a structure linking contrasting points in spacetime. It can be visualized as a tunnel with two ends at separate points in spacetime. For example, different locations, or different points in time, or both.

To create an artificial wormhole you need a lot of power. In the gate code, this power has a unit. This unit is called 'Subspace potential'. This 'potential' represents every form of power traversing through space. Be it light (photons) or be it some other form of energy.

For the gate to establish a connection to another gate, a signal is sent to that gate through subspace with enormous speed. When the signal is received on the other side, it communicates back to the dialing gate the amount of power needed to connect those two locations. The further the distance, the more power is required.

But the problem arises when there is more than one gate between the origin gate and destination gate. As a wormhole needs to travel between two gates, it is paramount for that wormhole not to jump to the closest gate. So, when Sirius send the 'Mirror drone' through the gate, we were granted the light show of a lifetime.

We decided to travel to the furthest gate address that we were able to safely dial. Travel between entering the gate and the time the drone exited on the other side was not instantaneous as we hoped it would be. It took forty-five seconds for the drone to exit on the other side.

Those forty-five seconds were spent watching as the drone twisted and turned through the galaxy. On a 3D map, we were able to watch as it travels, not in a straight line, but with the grace of the snake traveling between point A to point B.

As everything is recorded, I slowed down the replay and with a keen eye watched as the wormhole evaded the gates that would intercept its final destination. It was beautiful to watch.

oooOOOooo

The sight that greeted us on the other side was even more spectacular than the light show through the wormhole. Lush greenery, flowers of vast diversity, in the background we can see a mountain so high that it touches the clouds. A readout on the sensors indicates that there is nothing wrong with the air, no pollutants, no radiation, and no harmful microbes or viruses.

In other words, it was a perfectly preserved planet. But we still need to see if there is intelligent life on this planet. I entered a special one-time program into the other gate. This program will run a full scan of the planet, from the composition of the core of the planet to cartograph every piece of the land. It would also catalog the lifeforms from the microbes to the large animals if there are any. It took me several weeks to construct this program but it worked on our side of the gate so I see no problem running it on other planets.

The only problem is that the gate needs to be disconnected from an active wormhole. With the upload complete, I instructed the gate to run the scan as soon as the wormhole shuts down. It would send the findings through the subspace to our gate in an encoded format specially designed so no one could crack its content. I don't want the signal to be intercepted and studied. Who knows what the data will uncover.

oooOOOooo

When the data came, it took us by surprise. The planet is 1.5 times larger than Earth, with gravity 1.1 those of Earth. One would think that the larger the planet the more gravity it would generate on the body.

There are nine large continents, two of which are connected with a vast island chain. The mountain which can be seen from the stargate is not the largest on the planet. The largest one is on the biggest landmass near the equator. It is almost two times bigger than the first.

There are a large number of metals all around the planet, iron, copper, coal, gold, and naquadah deposits are not the only ones.

Plantlife is almost identical to those of the Earth. Some plants can not be identified with the scan and I haven't seen anything similar.

Animal life is also similar to those of the Earth. A lot of Earth extinct species are still alive on this planet. From the scans, there aren't any settlements of intelligent life on the planet. Only one structure is recorded on the bottom of the mountain nearest to the stargate.

Zooming the picture to the structure, not larger than a small house, writing can be seen. It is written in four distinct types, one is the language same as the code of the stargate. The other three are completely new to me. One has similar characteristics to Norse runes, but the overall design is completely different. The second has similarities with Mesopotamian writing but with more dots and full lines. The third is unlike any language from Earth history. It has curves, dots, and straight lines incorporated into itself.

It will be fun to see what the writing is all about.

oooOOOooo

With the decision made to travel to this planet, Sirius and I went through the stargate. The sensation was pleasant, unlike apparition. I have hoped to experience the travel the same way the probe recorded the path through the wormhole. But nothing like that happened. One second, we are entering the wormhole the other we are on the other side of the galaxy. It is my observation that the human mind cannot process what it sees while in the wormhole. It is a shame.

"Well Sirius, we are the first wizards to travel from one side of the galaxy to another in a blink of the eye."

"And it is a smooth ride. I hope that we can change our apparition into something so fluid." Replied Sirius.

"This gate hasn't been accessed for one hundred and fifty thousand years. It is also far from any other gate world in the galaxy. And the map shows that this solar system has nine planets. It is similar to our Sol system, so much so that we could forget that this is not our Earth." I presented my thoughts out loud.

As we slowly started to move towards the structure reported in the scan Sirius started to talk. "Would it be so bad for Elves to relocate here? Our Earth has so much pollution and muggle structures that it is creepy to look at. They can relocate everything here – magical animals and plants, books and everything they want to bring with them. With expansion charms on trunks, they probably can relocate every magically imbued thing here. And the feel of the magic here is so pure, probably because here no wars were fought and no mass deaths occurred."

With every word Sirius says, I start to feel excited. True, Elves evolved on Earth, but they are the most adaptable species ever discovered. And with the broken curse that plagued them on Earth, they would probably relocate here on mass.

"I think it is an honorable idea. We need to establish a more permanent method of communication with our old reality. But first, we need to see what that structure is all about. Who knows, maybe some other alien civilization claimed this planet as their own."

oooOOOooo

A few hundred meters from the structure my techno-sense started to tingle. So, a computer terminal is inside the structure. This will greatly help to determine the purpose of the structure.

The building was nothing grand. It had a large double door in the center of the front side. On each side of the door, the writing that we managed to see from the scan stood in gold lettering.

As I am familiar with one of the languages, I translated it for Sirius. "Welcome friends old and new. Four races build this place, for knowledge to stay safe. Each of us gave everything we had so that we never became only memory. Alteran is the name of our race. Study, but do not destroy. Knowledge is power and it should be respected."

Sirius was first to reply. "Ok, so we now know the name of the race that built the stargate network. Now we need to find out the other three."

"Yea!"

I summoned my laptop from the trunk and took the scans of the other three languages. The message is the same as the one I already translated. The only difference is the name of the race. Asgard, Furling, Nox, and with the last one Alteran.

"I think that this place is some kind of shrine for knowledge?"

"The clues in the writing would support that idea. Let's see what is inside. Come on pup." Replied Sirius.

Inside the structure, more writings could be seen on the walls. For now, I don't bother to translate what it says.

In the middle of the room, a large pedestal stands. On all four sides of the pedestal, there are pimple-like protrusions. I can sense that the computer terminal is located inside the pedestal. For now, I don't try to connect to it. I haven't even connected my mind to a gate and I will not try with unknown technology.

Looking around the pedestal I can see a small panel. I slowly remove the cover and peek inside. The crystals that greet me are similar to the ones found inside the dialing device. Opening my laptop, I mentally instruct it to connect to the crystal network.

What greets me, is not something I suspected. Almost fifty yottabytes of data are stored in this place. That is fifty quadrillion gigabytes. This is a gold mine of information. Now I know that I need help with this amount of data. Elves must be contacted as soon as possible. I start the download onto the laptop. It will take some time.

oooOOOooo

I left the laptop to do its job. While the data was downloading, I decided to read what's written on the wall. Starting with Alteran writing I concluded that the writing is abridged history of the race.

Millions of years ago, the Alterans lived together as one society in a distant galaxy. However, a philosophical division soon emerged among the Alterans, dividing them into two factions: the Alterans, known as the Ancients, who came to rely more heavily on science and rationality, and the Ori, who continued to become more and more fervent in their religious beliefs.

Ultimately, the Ori became so extreme in their beliefs that the two factions split apart and began to oppose each other, culminating in the Ori attempting to wipe the Alterans out. The Alterans were too few in numbers and were ultimately forced to hide their ways. Though they considered using their knowledge to defend themselves, they faced a war of attrition, one they ultimately believed that they could not win.

To avoid genocide, the Alterans built a ship and left their home galaxy, while the Ori remained. After many thousands of years, the exiled Alterans discovered the Milky Way.

The Alterans, being one of the first forms of sentient life to evolve in the universe had developed many advanced forms of technology before they left their galaxy. Ranging from advanced healing technologies, and long-range communication devices, the Alterans were one of the most advanced races in the known universe.

Over thousands of years, they populated the galaxy with Astria Porta, or stargates, on every habitable planet in order to spread their species. For the next few million years they thrived in their new home, new technology was discovered, several planets were colonized with new forms of life. One of the experiment planets was Terra, or as we know it Earth. They decided to build a research platform on one of the smaller continents far from the growing population of primitive humans.

Terra became a research center for ascension. They decided to try and ascend to a higher form of existence, to become something more than flesh and blood.

Some of the Alterans decided to forego ascension and relocated themselves to the Pegasus galaxy. To differentiate themselves from those who seek ascension they renamed themselves Lanteans. Their crown jewel, the city-ship Atlantis brought them to planet Lantea where they continued to make more discoveries.

In Milky Way, Alterans slowly ascended, but unlike Ori, they didn't push their beliefs onto a growing population of humans. As the Alteran population dwindled over time, those who remained, methodically destroyed all of the technology left behind, or so they thought.

In the Pegasus galaxy, Lanteans populated several planets with a life similar to life in Milky Way. An Astria Porta network was also established and travel between planets became much easier.

What they didn't count on was a new species of humanoids that evolved by themselves.

Those humanoids developed organic ships, and over time started a war with humans on other planets.

This war pushed Lanteans to abandon the Pegasus galaxy. When they returned to the Milky Way galaxy several new humanoid species had started to travel the stars. The most advanced were Asgard, Nox, and Furling.

For several million years they worked together for the betterment of the growing human population.

But then disaster struck. A plague swept over the galaxy. Lanteans were the most susceptible to the plague. All four races worked on cure but it was for not. More and more Lanteans died each day, and in order to save as much of their races, just in case, they built this planet as a knowledge repository.

Asgardians relocated themselves to the Ida galaxy, Noxians secluded themselves to one planet far from the galactic center. Furlings decided to travel the Universe in search of new life.

The Lanteans died out, leaving the human population to fend for themselves.

Every few hundred years, an automatic update would refresh this repository with new discoveries just in case something happens to the remaining three civilizations.

oooOOOooo

The other three murals depict similar historical telling.

I connected myself to the storage and searched the data for the purpose of the pimple-like protrusions. It turns out that they use light waves to imprint knowledge directly into the brain.

I don't know if anyone would be able to hold so much knowledge inside the brain and not go insane. I will not try to do so even if I am immortal.

"Sirius, whatever you do, don't get any closer to the pedestal."

"Why?"

"Let's just say that all of the data stored will be forcefully pushed inside your brain, and you would probably die in minutes. I think that whoever thought of this method of imprinting knowledge didn't consider the possibility of that happening."

Sirius looked at me and smirked. "You know, if the method is flawed, you could fix it."

I can see what he is thinking about. "Look Sirius, I know that studying is tedious, but you need to understand that the method I use to connect to my laptop is something I can not describe. If you think that I will allow you to cram all of my knowledge into your head just so you can follow me you are mistaken."

"Fine, fine. But what if you modify those pimples to dump a small amount of data, like only one language, or how to build a spaceship?"

"Sirius, look. I will not allow you to make a brain soup just so you can make a spaceship. I don't know whose idea was to deliver all of that data directly to its mind, but if I find out I will turn him into a mouse and feed him to a cat."

With that proclamation, the argument was closed.

It took two hours to download everything to the laptop. I erected unbreakable walls all around the pedestal so Sirius wouldn't go behind my back. And just to be sure I added several wards that would stun anyone who comes near.

With that done we went outside. I suggested to go flying around the planet and see what it can offer.

The brooms I brought with us were nothing like the old brooms. These new ones can go several times the speed of sound. G-forces and wind were negated with several runes.

We flew for several hours and when we became hungry decided to go back and take a minute to enjoy the view from the mountain near the gate.

Sirius and I discussed what we will do now that we no longer need to live inside the museum. I suggested that we build a small house near the 'Repository house'.

We also decided to contact the Elves and see what they think about relocation.

oooOOOooo

For the next month, Sirius and I build a small residential area not far from the original structure. The house we build using magic is nothing luxurious, it had few bedrooms with bathrooms attached, kitchen with all the amenities pilgrimed from the trunk. Large living area for relaxation and pantry for food. Everything is warded to the maximum just in case; from fire suppression wards, insect repellent wards to more serious wards like ill intent ward that would stun and immobilize anyone who wishes harm to the house or us. Every ward scheme is connected to a large ward stone in the middle of the basement of the house. We didn't tie the ward stone to a lay-line just in case we want to move the house in near future.

When the construction was done, we took several weeks to enjoy the wonders of the planet. I have even recognized several magical plants all over the continent we reside on. But no magical animals developed here.

Alongside the exploration, I delved inside the data I downloaded from the repository. Literature long forgotten, technology so advanced that if I were to present even the fraction of it to a wizard he would think that it is some kind of enchanted object. Technology to move a Star and planets, to speed the time or even to slow it to a mere fraction of the second, power sources to run entire planet from one device.

Blueprints to build spaceships, orbital platforms, weapons of all kinds. With this amount of knowledge, if one has resources, the entire universe could be explored, or one could destroy it.

Inside the data, I also found several similar but smaller repositories on other planets. If the data inside any of them were to be discovered by malevolent species, the amount of damage it could cause is too high.

When I talked with Sirius, we decided to remove any and all of the technology we find that connects with any of the four races. It is better if the knowledge remains hidden and inaccessible to Goa'uld.

There are three smaller repositories in the Milky Way galaxy. I managed to find all three addresses from the computer and with that we decided to travel to those worlds to see if the repositories are still intact and functional.

Same as with this planet, we send the 'Mirror drone' first just in case it is occupied. The first gate we dialed opened to a dark room. The Stargate was located in a room with no doors, windows, or obvious power sources. All that was visible was a small circular inscription on the floor:

"Nou ani Anquietas. Hic qua videum".

With the knowledge of the language already brimming in my head, I easily translated it. It said: "We are the Ancients. This is the place of our legacy".

From the data gathered, the device to access the repository would only appear if the genetic marker were to be recognized. This marker was present only within the Alterans and later Lanteans. With the visual inspection completed and confirmation that the air is breathable and with nothing harmful in the air, I send the same program to inspect the entire planet to the gate.

oooOOOooo

The structure that houses the repository is inside a small cabin deep inside the planet. The planet is habitable with any form of life. There are large deposits of naquadah all over the planet. Other metals are also present alongside a large number of crystals of every type. Diamonds, emeralds, quartz, amethyst, aquamarine, cinnabar, and many more types all over the world.

When I checked what else could be found in the master repository, I found that this planet was an experiment long since forgotten. Alterans tried to artificially grow certain types of crystal for better power storage, but as they launched the experiment they had a breakthrough. So the planet was forgotten. When Alterans decided to destroy all of their technology they chose this planet to guard the repository.

For whatever purpose the planet was intended, we will make good use of it as soon as we figure what we want to do with our lives.

Redialing the gate we went through and found ourselves in the same room the drone ended up in.

Information suggests that the person that wishes to access the repository needs to walk over a circular pattern in the middle of the room and the repository, upon detecting the gene, will appear on the wall.

As Sirius and I know that we are not the descendants of the Ancients we know that that wouldn't work. So I magicked the crystal that controls the repository system and houses the knowledge left inside.

The crystal is no bigger than my palm, red in color and slightly transparent. When we go back to our newly claimed planet I will download everything it contains and put it in a safe place for later study.

The remaining contraption that would dump everything into a person's brain by light signals I disassembled and put in the newly made trunk that would house everything Alteran or Lantean.

With that finished, I reprogramed the gate to only establish the connection with the gate on our planet just in case someone knows the address of this place. I also coded the gate to inform me if anyone tries to dial it and to record the address of the gate it is dialed from so I can investigate who knows of this place.

With that business completed, we went to other two places that house the repository.

The second planet was much livelier than the first. It had a sustainable atmosphere and several animal species thrived on it. The repository is housed on the bottom of a large monument of someone. As it is mostly destroyed we are unable to see the face of the person it represents. Doing the same we dismantled the repository into the same trunk and went back to our planet.

oooOOOooo

The third planet that housed the repository was the most challenging so far. As we dialed the gate and to send the program to scan the planet in minute details we came to a problem.

As we received the data, it quickly showed that this planet had a living population. It represented the challenge of how to proceed with the extraction. What is more, we also found a laboratory deep inside the mountain area not far from the gate. This laboratory is of Ancient design.

"Sirius, it would appear that the Ancient didn't destroy every bit of technology they created. Or, they didn't know about this laboratory. What is more, if this laboratory exists, who is to say that more like it are left behind."

"If they left more of the technology behind, and it was found by the Goa'uld, it would explain how Goa'uld ships have similar crystalline type computers and how they managed to spread through the galaxy."

Lucky for us, the gate is far from any settlement so the activation of the gate should go unnoticed.

We activated our suits and made ourselves invisible. A new trunk was prepared as we don't know how much of the technology is left inside the laboratory.

Invisible and silent, we went through the gate. As we exited the gate we launched several drones to record the settlements and to see if any other pieces of Alteran technology are being used by them.

The repository is located on top of the nearby cliff. We made a quick job of it and proceeded to go to the place that houses the laboratory.

With our scanners, we discovered that in order to access the laboratory we need to transport ourselves with the set of rings.

Transportation rings are similar in function to Stargates, but only transport matter across planetary distances, either on the planet itself or to ships in orbit. When activated, a number of rings rise from the floor or drop from the ceiling, surrounding the object and converting it to energy. The matter stream is then transmitted to a similar set of rings (or the rings themselves simply move where desired) which reassemble the object. In order to prevent damage to people or objects during reassembly, the matter at the destination is swapped with the matter at the departure point.

In order to activate the rings, you need a small handheld device with the codes for the activation. With my techno sense, I easily activated the rings with the mirror drone in the middle. We don't want to have any surprises waiting for us at the destination.

Watching a mirror drone going from room to room and seeing as no one was inside for a long time we decided that it was safe for us to enter the laboratory area. Deciding that the rings are safe to use I activated them and we found ourselves in a small room presumably used as a receiving area.

In the next room, several computer stations could be seen. My techno sense told me that those could be accessed with the laptop. In other rooms, more equipment could be seen. In order for us to be safe from anything in other rooms, I connected the laptop to a computer and downloaded everything housed inside.

It would appear that this laboratory was used as a genetic research area. To manipulate the genes, they constructed a chamber that would scan the individual, and using radiation and other forms of energy they would alter the base gene of the individual.

If this technology were to be used by someone that has dark intention the consequences would be dire.

It took us two days to safely remove everything housed inside the laboratory. Equipment, computers, power crystals, gene chambers, chemicals of every type which were preserved in a stasis of some kind.

We also took apart the set of transport rings to study them and maybe use them at a later time. Who knows how they can be incorporated into space ship design.

With that finished we recalled all the drones that reported nothing of value in the settlements. The people are primitive in culture. If I were to compare them with the evolution of our Earth they would be at a beginning of the Victorian era.

oooOOOooo

I set up a chamber deep inside the house that would contain the Reality portal. Just to be safe, I added several wards. The first ward would inform me if anyone enters the area, the second would scan the person or object to a molecular level, third would stun the person just in case or teleport the object inside a highly warded trunk far from the house. Who knows what could come through.

Activating the portal I transmit every bit of data we collected from our last update with the elves. Alongside the data, I send an invitation to the Elves to relocate to this reality. Alongside this message is a detailed scan of the planet and our observation of the feel of the planet. Our observation of the data we managed to collect alongside deep scans of the Jaffa body we recovered. We also send all the data our drones managed to collect alongside the videos.

If the Elves want to relocate here I asked them to pack everything magical – plants, animals, books, artifacts, even Hogwarts if they can manage it.

oooOOOooo

High above, in the higher plane of existence, the Council of Elders watched two Outsiders in interest.

"What do you think of this latest development". Asked the oldest of twelve.

"If my predictions are correct, it would seem that all of our mistakes could be fixed in near future".

They were all with similar predictions.

"For now, we will watch and observe. If they end up worse than Anubis we will act as they are not of this realm.
