The Queen

Some time after the departure of the ambassadors of the Allied Nations, Paradis had sunk into a state of identity crisis. Eren Yeager's figure had been revitalized to unprecedented levels, but for different reasons…

The original Yeagerist faction, still a majority in the government and the military, had launched a propaganda campaign to the public, in an effort to maintain their imperialistic and nationalist ideals, supported by the former Wallist religious leaders, who had started forming a new religion under the image of Eren as The Redentor.

The New Yeagerists, a political movement founded by mostly young scholars, merchants and victims of the Rumbling in Paradis, was rapidly gaining strength and popularity among the public. They proposed the immediate demilitarization of Paradis and reestablishing relations with the rest of the world, rejecting any religious or political connotations to Eren's actions, presenting him as a normal person, a victim, who had the courage to sacrifice it all to end violence.

The climate of Paradis was tense, the Yeagerist government persecuted the growing opposition movement, in an oppressive yet nonviolent way.

Meanwhile, Queen Historia was very tired and conflicted… because of the crisis she had to remain at Trost for months on end, hardly been able to visit her home and daughter…

The Royal Palace

Historia is being dressed and prepared for a cabinet meeting later in the morning. By that point, Historia is simply not interested in politics anymore and is quite bored of the constant quarrel between politicians and military leaders, she doesn't see any solutions and doesn't know what to do…

Historia while combing her hair in front of a mirror and waiting for the meeting to begin, starts to remember her life as Krista Lenz…

Historia: Ymir… I wish you were here… you could convince me to just leave all this and let those idiots kill each other…

It's funny... now that I can use my real name… I'm even less free to be myself than when I was Krista… you are probably scolding Eren right now aren't you?...You two idiots…

An aide approaches: Your majesty, the cabinet is ready for you.

Historia: sigh… let's go…

The cabinet is bickering about how to handle the political crisis at hand, none of them offering any solutions, while Historia is frustrated at how pointless governing Paradis has become…

She doesn't know how to resolve the problems they are facing either, so she merely sits and listens, with each meeting feeling more and more hopeless…

Meanwhile, Historia and her principal advisors start to hear a distant commotion outside of the palace, yet it doesn't sound violent.

An aide of the queen suddenly barges in to give Historia an urgent message…

Historia to her aide: WHAT?! REALLY!? – Historia brightens ups – Ohhhh, this is going to be fun.

The Queen stands up and halts the meeting: My dear lords, I'm sorry but we have to suspend this meeting just for a few minutes, as a member of the cabinet has yet to arrive…

Lady Mikasa Yeager, of Houses Ackerman and Azumabito, Minister without Portafolio, will be joining us in a few moments, so please let's wait for her okay?

The mood of the hall changes instantly, all members of the cabinet start talking to each other concerned and nervous, some scared, others excited, while Historia for the first time in quite some time, is not bored of politics.

Without being presented and without saying anything, Mikasa enters the hall, wearing military training uniform. All members of the cabinet stand up at her entrance, the Yeagerist nobles and military leaders put their fists in their hearts and shout: Dedicate your Heart! If you win, you live. If you lose, you die. If you don't fight, you can't win! FIGHT!

Mikasa looks at the scene pretty annoyed while she approaches Historia to greet her.

Historia diplomatically grabs Mikasa hands in greeting and whispers in her ear: Thank you so much, I'm so glad to see you… Mikasa smiles at her and touches her shoulder.

Historia: Please Lady Yeager sit here next to me.

Mikasa sits next to Historia, not saying anything, staring at the cabinet members, in a stern and frightening way.

The Prime Minister: L..Lady Yeager, it's such an honor to have you join as after such a long time, please let me inform you about what we hav….

Historia raises her hand in a gesture for the Prime Minister to stop, she stands up: My dear lords, I'm sure you all are as glad as me to have Lady Mikasa here with us, such a rare occurrence must be for something important, so please Mikasa, tell us, what brings you here?

Mikasa, still staring, answers: The food rations of the cadets… have been cut. They haven't been getting any meat, pork or dessert for more than a week now. Why is this?

All eyes go directly to the Chief of the Military, who shaking and nervously stands up: M..My lady, as you know, we as a country are facing a crisis, s..so some sacrifices had to be made in order to reroute resources to secure the public…

Mikasa, staring even more intensely: Are the officers still receiving a weekly crate of wine?

All members of the cabinet start to nervously shake, the Chief of the Military answers frightened: Y..yes… you see my lady, th.. the officers need to keep their morale, in order to..

Mikasa, staring angrily at the chief of the military: Cut it.

The chief of the military panicking: B.. but..

Mikasa terrifyingly staring at him: DO IT.

Mikasa stands up and starts to leave the hall. Historia giddily stands up too: Thank you so much for coming Mikasa, I'll come visit you tomorrow okay?

Mikasa without turning, stopping or saying anything raises her hand, waving goodbye to Historia.

All members of the cabinet stand and put their fists in their hearts as Mikasa leaves the hall. They start to anxiously chat between them, some of them are hyperventilating and aides go to assist them.

Historia happily announces: Well my lords, I'm sure we have a lot to discuss, how about we resume this meeting in the afternoon, yes? You are dismissed.

Historia stays in the hall looking outside through the window, the commotion is even louder.

A General who is friendly with the Queen approaches her: Excuse me your majesty; can I speak to you for a minute?

Historia: Sure General, what is it?

General: I'm concerned about the level of power Lady Yeager has in the cabinet…

Historia: Oh? How come?

General: Well, you just saw what happened. I know she mostly keeps out of government affairs, but each time she decides to intervene this happens. I'm concerned another coup attempt might start to develop.

Historia laughing: Wouldn't that be nice? The general is startled.

Historia: Relax General I'm kidding, there is no need to be concerned. Mikasa has no intentions to gain power, I think you are misunderstanding why she came here today. Here, take a look at this.

The press in on a frenzy at the gates of the palace, requesting to know why Mikasa attended the cabinet meeting. A royal aide is giving the details of what happened at the palace.

Meanwhile Mikasa is leaving the Palace by foot, guarded by many MPs keeping the press and the public away from her, all requesting to talk to her, some asking her to bless their child, throwing flowers at her. Scholars, cadets, merchants, common folk alike are there to take a glimpse at The Savior's Wife.

Mikasa keeps walking, not paying attention to anything that is happening around her, but she stops when she sees a little girl in the crowd. She has long black hair, green eyes, and is carrying a bouquet of bellflowers.

Mikasa goes to the little girl, crouches and sweetly caresses her hair and accepts the bouquet she gives her, while the people around them are crying, some are praying, and others are taking notes.

The little girls asks: Lady Mikasa, how can I be like you when I grow up?

Mikasa gently grabs the child's right hand, makes a fist and puts it in her chest: Just dedicate your heart to everything you do… and be free… to do what you love…

Mikasa thanks the child and keeps on walking to the military training academy, with the commotion following her.

The General is even more concerned after what he saw, while Historia is nostalgically looking outside…

Historia: Mikasa does these things out of love, not for power. I don't think it's even love for the people… it's a love we simply can't understand. It just so happens to be represented in some people to her… like that little girl…

You know, she just has to say a word and this whole government would collapse… but she doesn't do that, she actually does the opposite… She doesn't care about any of this…

I'm quite jealous of her… she is so strong… and the people see it, it's not just the stories… she gets things done… she truly is like a shield to this awful place…

But I'm glad she came today, I hope she does that more often, I surely needed that… to remind me what I should do and who I should be… no matter how hard it is…
