Yay, another chapter. I might bump this up to a rated M eventually but for now staying at a solid T. This one is kind of long but I hope that you enjoy it! There's a Monty and Ben bonding moment and things heat up.
Please review if you're enjoying this.
Nigel, Ben discovered, was very effective. He had a plan and executed it as soon as the abduction of Abigail Lincoln. He had adjusted his bowtie nervously smoothing out his nice white shirt. The plan wasn't really the plan he had in mind, but it was a steppingstone.
"You really think this will work?" asked Ben.
"It'll work," said Nigel fixing his black leather jacket. "We work from the shadows first and then attack."
Nigel rolled his eyes in disdain at Ben, as he tried to keep his temper in check. Rachel sweetly stepped over to him and give him a haughty look as she took Nigel's hand.
"Now do you remember our plan?" asked Nigel.
"So, we're capturing your old team, 274, and Lizzie which I understand. Take out the best of the best, but why are we abducting your parents again?"
"The same reason why we're abducting grandpa, so they can't be recommissioned."
"Why would the anyone recommission pappy or your parents?"
Nigel sighed and shook his head as if he'd explained this tons of times. "Simple, if they recommission Grandfather, he could defeat us, and then they could turn around and decommission him. My parents would be used as leverage or use them to talk us down. They need to be out of the way. Even if my parents are still recommissioned, I have a plan."
He had all the holes covered in his plan with very little room for error. Those were good points. Ben watched as Nigel coaxed Rachel to set the table with very little words and a touch on her elbow.
Curious Ben asked, "You've been using your mind manipulating powers on her, haven't you?" He glanced between Nigel and Rachel realizing how that worked.
"It's not like it was hard. You really think I wouldn't use Rachel's crush on me as an advantage?" asked Nigel as Ben gaped. "Made it a little easier at least. I mean yea, we're friends and we get along great, we got closer when I started training. Plus, she's cute, I'll need her for an heir one day."
Ben had a feeling that he was in trouble if Nigel was thinking that far into the future. He was in too deep now.
"You're the one that made a deal with the devil," said Nigel with a wicked smirk heading toward the kitchen. "Make sure my parents don't have anything on them."
With that he stalked off toward the kitchen leaving Ben to remember his part in the plan. He got Monty and Kathy to come over after all. It was just a matter of keeping them there.
1-2-3-4-5
Monty and Kathy Uno were recommissioned, they had stayed that way since Nigel left for the GKND. It was their way to remember where he went. Then when the GKND attacked earth, he knew Nigel would have to come back right? Like the others he had only heard what happened to Numbuh Aleph Zero but doubted that his son was really responsible for that.
Since the fight moved to a space battle, and Monty being the adult he was, couldn't really help the resistance. Sure, he kept the treehouse open for any operatives that needed sanctuary, but he had no real ties to this fight.
So, when Ben called him with extra tickets to see a movie and bring dad, he didn't have an excuse. Besides, he offered to come over for dinner beforehand. Monty knew that his brother was an excellent cook. He accepted the meal and movie and started toward his mansion with his father tow.
"Are you sure we can't just go out for dinner?" asked Kathy taking her place in the front seat. "You know how I feel about your brother."
"Its not that bad," he said soothingly. Ben and Kathy got along alright he knew, but Ben always felt overshadowed by Kathy. Kathy always tried to be friends with him which only made things awkward.
They rounded the corner and parked their car in the garage that they left open for him. It was awfully nice of Ben to let them park in there. He opened the door for his wife and then went to ring the doorbell. He glanced carefully at the bushes noticing a flash blue but then nothing. What the?
"Hi Monty," said Ben opening the door and smiled at him. "Kathy. Dad."
"Benedict," she said smiling at him, she always liked to use his full name.
His voice strained as Pappy cocked his head but said nothing. Monty noticed how Ben tried not to cringe at that and stepped aside to let them in. He looked around to see that nothing had really changed since he was here last. They slide their shoes off in the mud room, so they didn't get the carpet dirty.
"I made breaded pork chops, tossed a salad, and roasted red skin potatoes," he said nervously.
Ben looked around making sure nothing was out of place. At least that's it looked like he was doing. There was that flash of blue that Monty noticed but his wife and brother not so much. Did someone follow them?
Monty looked around for the person as he led them to the dining room. The table perfectly placed, a piece of chocolate waiting for them on their plates, and a water pitcher in the middle. Kathy muttered something about how nice this was. Meanwhile he just felt weary taking a seat. Of course, it looked nice, but something felt uneasy in the air.
They took seats around the table as Ben brought out the food. Which as per usual dinner was great, he even had sherbet ice cream for everyone. His dad insisting on tapioca for himself which Ben happily provided.
Then finally did he realize the reason for his uneasiness as the lights switched off.
A metal bang slammed over the doors and windows.
Cuffs encircled his wrists, waist, and ankles.
In the dark amongst them he could hear his brother shout to not attack him.
The lights flipped back on as Monty and Kathy struggled against their bonds. Ben looked guilty but was standing and his lips forming a tight line.
"Ben," said Monty calling out to his brother. "Ben."
"He tricked us," said Kathy scowling. "We should have figured."
"It wasn't exactly my plan," said Ben scoffing at Kathy.
Ben didn't look at him and looked like he wanted to explain. Before he could the brown double doors swung open. Monty felt his heart drop and blue eyes widen at Nigel standing before him. His son stood there in the middle of his brothers dining room. His new outfit was black jeans, red t shirt, and black leather jacket. Sunglasses gleamed in the lighting. He didn't seem to have shoes on which made sense considering the carpet.
Next to him a cute young woman in a calf length red dress with a deep v neck and a black leather jacket. A simple white headband framed her face and fiery flower tucked up next to her ear.
"As if Ben could think of his plan," said Nigel rolling his eyes and chuckled a little, "It was mine."
"Nigel?!" gasped Monty.
As their son walked toward him, the energy in the room seemed to bounce all over and the shadows slinking up his body. Oh no. No. He got his powers. Monty heard ringing in his ears and his father's words haunted him. There's always another generation… He felt like he was going to get sick.
"Ben, you did this," said Kathy next to him clearly disgusted and horrified.
Nigel didn't stop but the girl who had came in with him stepped forward.
"Actually, the Galactic Kids Next Door did this," she said giving them a sickeningly sweet smile. "We're just looking for a little revenge."
So, it was true, his son did kill Numbuh Aleph Zero. He was hiding out who knows where and that girl was likely his accomplice. Monty was silent trying to think of a plan but couldn't move as Nigel didn't walk to him or Kathy. Instead, he was checking out Pappy.
His father had looked like he was sleeping as Nigel checked his pulse.
"It's weakening," he said shrugging.
"It's working," said Ben a little smile of pleasure on his face. "Well Pappy's taken care of."
"You teamed up?" asked Monty surprised.
He always wanted Ben and Nigel to get along one day, but to do evil together was kind of sick. Not only that but they did something to pappy. Either they decided to put him into a coma together or worse sickened him. Yes, his father was terrible to Ben, but did he deserve that? Monty tried to center himself before Nigel turned his attention to something in the doorway.
Monty and Kathy adjusted their heads as he recognized that flash of blue he had seen earlier. Nigel had summoned one of his fireballs and threw it at the boy.
They could barely see but they knew they were fighting. Unable to tell who was winning, they heard the shouts.
"Nigel this isn't you," said a masculine voice. "Stop fighting me, I'm on your side."
"Yea right Chad," he said as Monty recognized that name from somewhere. "The galactic kids next door is the one that used me, they manipulated me, and they pushed me into becoming this. Even if they didn't know I'd get powers, what did they think would happen? Someone would have turned on them eventually and I'm glad that it's me! At least I could put them in their place."
"I…" said Chad as he was thrown on the end of the long table. "What about the kids next door?"
He got up and fought back as Nigel just harmlessly tossed him aside. "What did you think you were going to do tie my shoe laces together?"
He chuckled as Chad tried to fight back as best as he could before being slammed at the end of the table again.
"The kids next door will get what they want," he said. "What do you think I'm gonna do? Monologue about what my evil plan is while you think of a way to defeat me. That's not this works."
Nigel had lunged and Monty could see that Chad was pretty much out of it. Nigel and the girl handling whatever they were going to do with him.
Ben meanwhile had pressed a button releasing him and Kathy from their seats. The windows however weren't uncovered still firmly in place.
Kathy had broken down into sobs next to him.
"Ben," said Monty taking a deep breath. "What is going on?"
"Monty," said Ben sighing. "I got this story from Rachel, so I don't know the full details. Nigel killed Numbuh Aleph Zero with his powers. He's been exploited and manipulated, and he took it all out on that supreme leader. Monty, you know that our powers can be activated through emotions, I had nothing to do with this."
Kathy let out a hallow laugh as if she didn't believe it. Monty let out another deep breath. This was the only way he could keep himself from, well, breaking down himself. He also knew that Ben considered him his best friend. His brother would lie and cheat other people, but never him. They were best friends and brothers after all. Plus, now he knew the girl's name.
"She told me that he ran, and he was missing for some time. Rachel found him on some deserted planet and was trying to learn his powers. She told me that he took her as his queen. Abigail Lincoln found them, and they took her ship to come back to earth. They came here and we came up with a plan together. Abigail is in my dungeons if you don't believe me. That is the entire story."
Kathy didn't look like she believed him, but Monty did.
"Okay, we just gotta convince him to be good again."
"Umm, yea that's why he captured you guys so you couldn't talk him down," said Ben frankly. "I wasn't even supposed to unlock you, but that 274 kid snuck in when you came. Monty if you want me to be honest, I'm kind of scared of him. He admitted to using his mind manipulating powers on Rachel, which he deemed as easy because of her crush on him. Personally, I think that this is a Stockholm syndrome situation, and he plans on making an heir with her one day."
With this Ben hugged him. He wrapped his arms around him and didn't stop for a few minutes before pulling away.
"All I know is that he doesn't plan on hurting you guys. I don't know what to do next. He's been telling me plans after everything's ready to go."
"Okay, Ben I'm gonna try to talk to him. Perhaps, I can't talk him down but make some request," said Monty. "Let me find him, um why don't you help out Kathy?"
Ben looked over at his wife before he disappeared down the hall looking for his son. The dungeons were the first instinct, but he really didn't want to see his son in there. Ben didn't tell him where Nigel's room was or where he was training.
Finally, he could hear Rachel giggle. Nigel was with her?
He headed in the direction of the noise. He caught site of his son and another girl was with him. Monty looked between the three of them as Nigel glanced at his dad.
Abby tried to put on a smile, but he could tell that she was faking it. The smile never reached her eyes as she looked like she was being restrained but nothing seemed to show it. Nigel had been glaring at her keeping control of the girl.
That made Monty pause that Nigel was controlling Abby. He had seen those powers when his granny was alive, it was how she supposedly got his dad to eat his vegetables. She was normally this confident girl but that look in her eyes said otherwise. She looked like on the verge of tears.
"Now are you going to stop me dad?" asked Nigel his eyes flickering to Monty.
"Help me," said Abby before choking on her words before forced to cover her mouth.
"Nigel, I want to talk," he said keeping his eyes on the girl as Nigel had controlled her to walk back down to her cell.
"So let's talk."
