1675 A.D.

Quynh found Percy to be odd, a good kind of odd. He was quiet, calm, and cold most of the time but if he didn't have anything to do for more than a couple of hours, he would start getting fidgety. He stayed out of most things, keeping to himself and staying in the shadows. He was always gentle around her though. While he was cold to strangers (pretty much anyone besides her) he was always warm when they were alone.

-Flashback- 90 years ago

They were climbing a mountain and it was an especially hard climb. The wind was blowing like crazy and the hail was pelting their faces. There were several times where she was almost blown off the side of the mountain but each time, Percy grabbed onto her and saved her from falling. Percy seemed to have no trouble walking through the furious weather and kept making sure she was ok. As the night arrived, they found a cave that sheltered them from the wind and ice. Percy, knowing Quynh was suffering from the cold, started a fire, wrapped her up in cloth from his pack, and made sure she would go to sleep.

She wasn't asleep though. Cracking her eye open as she felt Percy moving away from her, he saw him unpacking. He took out several water bottles and started moving back towards her. Quickly closing her eyes, she felt herself being dowsed by water, then warming up. She realized that Percy was using his powers to warm her up. Suddenly, her body was lifted, then placed on a comfortable, jelly-like bed.

Sensing him moving away, Quynh peeked.

"I know you're awake Quynh. Are you feeling alright?" Percy said in a gentle, amused voice.

"How did you know?" Quynh whispered.

Percy just smiled. "Your breathing patterns never changed. I can sense moisture."

Quynh also smiled softly. "Nothing ever gets past you."

As she lay her head back down, she sighed, all the tension in her body slowly leaving. Percy just always seemed to know everything. She's discovered very little about his powers, only that he can sense moisture, breathe underwater, control water, and make bubbles.

"Percy ... How old are you?"
"I- I honestly don't remember. All I know is that I was born during the days of Greece."
Percy shrugged. "I don't really care anymore, to be honest. It's annoying really, being reminded that you're old."

Quynh liked that about Percy. He was always blunt and straightforward.

"I was wondering, was your friend also an immortal?"

Just kidding, sometimes she disliked his straightforwardness.

Noticing her tense, he sighed. "It's ok if you don't want to talk about them."

She nodded. "Thank you." He was always considerate of her, never pressuring, always waiting.

Later that night

She felt conflicted. Her recent companion had spurred feelings in her that she thought she buried deep. She liked talking to him, she liked traveling with him, she liked being around him. She thought of him as a friend. And that scared her. The one and only friend she ever had before had betrayed her, leaving her to suffer while they escaped, free and unharmed. But Percy swooped in and saved her.

A sudden, sharp noise ripped through the silence inside the cave. As sudden as the rip came, the earth started shaking, the ceiling crumbling. In shock, Quynh only managed to grab her pack before the debris started pouring. Just as it seemed like she would be buried, a pair of arms encompass her. Within a second, Percy had grabbed her and catapulted them out of the cave.

After rolling down the side of the mountain for several seconds, they came to a stop at the edge of a cliff.

"Ahhhh, that was fun." Percy muttered. "Quynh? You ok? You're not hurt are you?"

Staggering away from the edge, Quynh collapsed onto her knees. She was still in shock. She relived the time inside the iron maiden and dying repeatedly. She couldn't believe that she was almost trapped again.

A pair of arms captured her.

"Hey, hey, don't worry. I'm here Quynh. I'll keep you safe."

She felt comfort, warmth, safety in the arms of her twice savior. Her friend. She decided, Percy is her friend.

-Flashback End-

Quynh still remembered that day. That day when she acknowledged Percy as her friend. The next 90 years were the most enjoyable years of her life. From traveling, training, and learning, she had grown closer to Percy, someone who made her happy.

Quynh knew exactly what Percy was to her. A loyal, caring, friend.

Author's note - Sorry for taking so long to post. I have so many ideas but can't get them to connect so might take a while. Also, I was thinking, should I make a timeline cuz I'm confusing myself lol. Let me know if you want me to add a timeline.

Also, I suck at ending chapters. Feel free to correct me or give me any advice.
