Chapter – 3

Cersei

Cersei left the kings chambers after speaking with him mayhaps for the last time. She decided that Robert has to perish quickly after what happened with Stark. She knew the oaf will go hunting after his best friend refused to kill the Targaryan girl and resigned his handship.

She almost felt pity for Robert seeing how his best friend and foster brother abandoned him. But after Robert still spoke of the love he held for the dead stark girl and denied any semblance of love for her, she reached the decision. She had strong wine brought discreetly and had it mixed with robert's favourite wine, and seduced Lancel with promise of her body to do her bidding during robert's hunt

She was yet to replace the useless ser Boros who disappeared in the riverlands, for a time she suspected Ned Stark to have killed her loyal knight but once his helm and clother were found near a lake not far from the darry's castle. But the fat foot could have drowned in the river. She will have to get a man loyal to them in his place, mayhaps the hound will suffice once Joffrey becomes king.

She thought of her coming victory and smiled, with father as hand and Jamie in the kingsguard, her son's reign is secure and finally she will have the power she had always desired. Father will agree that I am the clever one in the family and once she gets rid of that wretched dwarf, her reign will start.

Of course, the stark girl might marry Joff but she will make sure the dull northern girl will never rise to power and remains a broodmare. She was delighted with her plans and surprised to hear a horn blast heard from the gates and saw a large party of knights bearing stag banners entering the Red Keep. She was surprised to find many of them belonged to the stormlands.

Ned Stark

Ned Stark just exited the brothel after he spoke to the young mother Mhegan and her little daughter barra, who had the likeness of Robert's bastard girl in the vale all those years ago. He sighed again and thought of his journey north but suddenly a group of hedge knights and men at arms. He was surprised to see the Imp and missing kingsguard ser boros among them.

"My Lord Hand, we come with grave news" said the man who everyone thought was dead. He lost some weight and looked ragged but his eyes were glinting with danger when he spoke.

Littlefinger paled as he looked at the imp and the knights and signaled to his men. Four of the sell swords came forward ready to fight the men.

"We are betrayed by traitors lord stark who wish to throw the realm in chaos and war" the imp said while glaring at baelish. "Tis a shame you listen to the worm who is responsible for the death of Lord Arryn" the imp continued.

Littlefinger shifted uncomfortably and said "I will bring the city watch. You have a lot to answer for your treachery ser Boros, the queen will be surprised to find her lapdog deceiving her" baelish glared while trying to leave.

"Hold it right there Baelish, you are under arrest for high treason" said a hedge knight who wore mismatched armour. The sellswords tried covering their patron as littlefinger reached for a horse.

Ned was still confused when a crossbow bolt took one of baelish's men in the shoulder. Then a man punched baelish who fell to the ground. Ser boros quickly dismounted and a the remaining three sellswords were disarmed and beaten.

"What is going on Ser Boros" he asked angry that the knight had littlefinger bound and gagged. They brought a wagon and threw him on it.

"My lord this brothel keeper tried to instigate a war between house Stark and house Lannister. He tried to frame lord tyrion for the attempt on your son's life" the kingsguard replied before sending five men to secure the brothel.

Ned did not know what to do "Ser I am no longer the hand but if what you say is true we can go to Robert straight away and settle the matter". The knight looked angrybut nodded and they headed to the red keep with his men and the knights in tow.

Ser Boros galloped beside him and said "My lord, if I may I know you have seen Robert's children, I suggest you to protect them and send them away from the capital before they are harmed". Ned was surprised that the knight knew of his visits. He cannot bring to trust this knght who they say is the queen's creature.

"Why did you disappear ser abandoning your duty t your king and why have you come back with the Imp" he asked the man. Ser Boros replied "It's a long story my lord one I will share with you and the king but first we need to secure the queen's children and the kingslayer until lord Stannis and the stormlords arrive".

Ned was surprised by what he heard and thought of why the baratheon forces will come in strength to the capital and why he need to secure the children when a dark thought hit him. Ser boros said 'the queen's children' as if they are not Robert's. All three has the lannister colouring and eyes but all of Robert's bastards are blue eyed and black haired, 'No it cannot be, this is madness' he thought but felt a nagging suspicion that the book will have the answer. He grit his teeth and rode faster towards the red keep.

Renly

Renly smiled at his bannermen who know dismounted near the stables and greeted him. He saw the banners of house buckler, house mertyns, house Errol, house morrigen, house dondarrion, house fell and even Tarth led by the evenstar's daughter Brienne. Welcome my lords and my lady, I welcome you to the capital at this dire hour, quarters have been arranged for some and inns for the others, once you are settled we will convene at once.

He knew it is a risk to bring his banners this quickly and discreetly but what the letter said of lannister treachery afoot by the queen, he did not want to take any chances. He spoke with ser Loras and his retainers as well as lord Yohn Royce, who had also received a letter from the unknown benefactor speaking of treachery which prompted the lord to gather his vale knights and address the threat.

He wondered if stannis has got one of these strange letters as well. He did not want hisdour brother return to the capital to humiliate him but they could use the royal fleet now if things escalated as suggested by the letter.

He saw that the lannister guards are on edge and cersei calling those westerlands who remained in the capital to the red keep. He doubted if she knew what they are planning. The kingslayer is dangerous but they can beat him with sheer numbers. The city watch is under Janos Slint who he have to suffer due to baelish's corruption but he have Five thousand of his bannerman along with five hundred of the others to repel the gold cloaks.

Then to his surprise he saw Ned stark racing towards the red keep with the Imp and three score hedge knights in tow who have a beaten and bound littlefinger in a makeshift wagon with them. What shocked him was the man who rode behind Stark , who he always thought was a joke and already dead. Ser Boros Blount of the kingsguard rode full armoured with an angry face while his white cloak flapped behind him. Things are going to be very interesting indeed.
