Chickasaw boy: Chief, I need to speak with you.

Kele: Did you find any buffalo on the plains?

Chickasaw boy: I haven't seen any yet, But I saw something else.

Kele: Did you see our enemy? Was it the Quapaw?

Chickasaw Boy: No. I saw a strange tribe of people I have never seen before.

(The elders all hear this and give their attention)

Kele: These strangers, what did the look like?

Chickasaw Boy: Their skin is as white as the river sand. They have hair on their faces. They came out from the southern forest land. They had huge canoes that sailed up the great river. They also brought with them strange beast and have begun to build a settlement near the river.

Kele: How many of these strange people did you see?

Chickasaw Boy: There must have been at least one hundred. Some of them were still on the giant canoes.

Tauri: Chief, let us deal with these people. Let us gather the warriors and attack them now.

Kele: No, we must be ready to face the evil spirits that will awaken soon, for the time is upon us once again. Make plenty of arrows. and make sure that our bows, spears and axes are battle ready.

(The shaman woman appears before the Chief Kele)

Ameyalli: In ten days, when the moon is full, the evil spirits begin their hunt. We must be ready.

Kele: And the Strangers?

Ameyalli: The great spirits will decide their fate.

Kele: Tauri, we will see visit these people and find out their intentions are. We will bring warriors with us if they prove to be an enemy.

Tauri: Yes, chief.

(Kele recalls and old memory of a battle. His father and his warriors battle the evil spirits. These evil spirits tear apart a warrior with their sharp claws and feed on his flesh. His father smashes a club on the Evil Spirit's head. The indians throw spears and shoot arrows while shouting their battle cries. The next day, the aftermath battle carnage could be seen. There are dismembered body parts. Pieces of body here and their. Many warriors and evil spirits are dead on the ground. Kele's father rushes over and embraces his son.)

Kele's Father: It gladdens me that your safe. Are you hurt anywhere?

Young Kele: No, I am alright. (They look around.) How many fallen?

Kele's Father: Twenty hearts lie on the earth.

Young Kele: The evil spirits, will they come back?

Kele's Father: They will come back after ten winters. I may not be alive to see them again. If I am called to the ancestors, then you must face them my son. Remember this day and prepare. Will you promise me?

(Flash back ends)

Kele: I will not fail you, father. The evil spirits will not feed upon our peoples again.

Some norse folk set markers to build farmland for the goats, sheep and cattle. The farmers inspect the earth, begin setting up vegetable and grain plots. Bjartr, the black smith, sets up an area for his Forge.)

Gulbandr: How is it coming along?

Bjartr: The site is good, But I don't see any mountains from our position for mining iron. The only Mountains we have seen is back towards the south, following the Great River.

Gulbrandr: Take a scouting party back south and see if there are places to mine. Take some warriors aswell.

Bjartr: Do you think we'll run into trouble?

Gulbrandr: This is a New World. We must take great precautions. Do you remember the Black Water Dragons?

Bjartr: I still do. If it wasn't for your wife, the young girl would not have survived. How is your wife feeling? One of the midwives said the baby draws near?

Gulbrandr: She has been in pain these last few days, I guess that-

Norse mid-wife: MY LORD! MY LORD! (She sees Giulbrandr and races towards him) MY LORD, the child is arriving!

Bjartr: Go to you wife. We can talk another time. And congratulations.

Ragnar Takes The Throne Soundtrack Score. They enter the tent where the Roisin is crying out in pain. Gulbrandr rushes to her side and holds her hand. She squeezes hard as she cries out. She looks at her husband.)

Roisin: Mead would be nice about now (She laughs nervously.) I'm..scared. I...can't. I can't.

(She starts crying. Gulbrandr embraces her in comfort)

Gulbrandr: Everything will be alright, my love. You are one of the strongest women that I know. And I know that this child will be the best thing in our lives. We are going to be a family. So don't give up now. I am here with you. And nothing is impossible when we are together.

(She nods, relaxes and takes a calm deep breathes)

Gulbrandr: That it my love. Breathe.

Midwife: I...see the head. You are beginning to crown. Your almost there, my lady

Gulbrandr: You see. The baby is almost here. Just one more.

(Roisin Braces herself and pushes. We can hear the baby crying.)

Midwife: My Lord, My Lady, you have a son.

(The Baby is crying. They hand the baby to Roisin. She cries tears of joy. A tear rolls down Gulbrandr eye. He has become a father. The midwife hands the baby to Roisin. She's happy. Gulbrandr takes the time to soak in the moment. He steps out of the tent. The people are awaiting the news.)

Gulbrandr: I HAVE A SON!

(The people cheer)

Gulbrandr: Break out the Mead! Today we shall feast! Let there be music, let there be dancing, let us enjoy ourselves today for the First Child of Vinland has been born! Today, I have become a father!

(They set the tables, and bring the Mead Barrel. Games are being held by children, teens and adults. They act out stories. Gulbrandr lays next his sleeping/nursing wife and their newborn son.)

Gulbrandr: Father, if you are watching from Vahalla, you're a grandfather now.

(meanwhile Bjartr is sailing down the river with a handful of warriors.)

Bjartr: We anchor here.

Grid: What are we doing here so far from the settlement?

Bjartr: We are looking for Iron ore. This region might have it. If it doesn't, we will return to Viðrfold and try again. Lets go.

(The group ventures into to the woodland and towards a small mountain. Little do they know that they are being watched by Tauri and the Natives)
