This was a hard chapter and it is where things start to deviate from the main series...
We see the divide I imagine growing when secrets are revealed and see the bratty side I see in Izuku in this reality. He can be a brat at times even in canon...
I hope I did justice, I am enjoying the series.
"And he told him to take a swan dive off of the roof!" Hibiki chattered to Tsukauchi as he walked home from practice, his body deliciously worn and sore. He loved Taekwando, it just lifted his spirits and made him feel great. All of his anger left his body and made him feel great, it was the greatest tool he had besides therapy, which was also great. "I may have threatened to push him out of a window, and he knew I'd do it too, so he left without much of a fuss."
The detective sighed through his nose, a sound that made Hibiki giggle through his phone. "Your a handful you know that, right?"
"You love me though."
"Doesn't change the fact that your a handful... you did good, you didn't do it publically and you were smart enough to pick the one person afraid to make a mark on his records. I wish we could arrest Bakugo but with the bias of your school you and your brother would probably get the brunt of the problems... it's a sad truth but it is the truth. That is the only reason I am approving of your threats, kiddo."
"I figured you wouldn't be too mad... it's so frustrating, we aren't handicapped by power just by bigotry... I hope U.A. isn't like this." He whispered that last part, looking away to make sure no one heard him.
"It's not, I can promise that. None of the teachers are biased, beyond some traces that linger from assumptions and the status quo. Win them over and you'll be good. I am recommending you for the recommendation exam. It's honestly a smarter choice for people with quirks that are not all raw power and of course those without a quirk like you."
Hibiki frowned. " I thought you had to be a hero for that?"
"Normally yes, but cops and family members can do that if they are connected. I have seen you fight, seen your dedication to self improvement and I know you are capable of learning on the standard of a hero. Your insanely intelligent, it's scary. You picked up more about Law from the books I recommended then most people on the force. You are in better shape and are more combat ready then anyone on the force and even some heroes I know. You knowledge of history is scary, you can just rattle off facts like no one's buisness. Your just an impressive kid and I am in awe of your abilites. You'd be wasted anywhere that wasn't a hero."
Filled with pride, the small twin smiled. "Your just saying that stuff cause it's true."
"I mean it all kid... now, I can't tell you what the recommendation test is, only that it doesn't really require a quirk, It's more about thinking and adapting. You still have to pass the same written exam as those getting in the normal way. Keep your grades and studying up."
"Will do, sir. Thanks for being there, your more my dad then my actual dad is."
The man laughed, a warm loving sound. "A position I am more then happy to fill, kiddo... sorry, I have to go, there is a hostage situation near you... stay out of it, please."
Panic overtook Hibiki as he heard a series of explosions. "That's... Bakugo, Izzy's going to try to save him or something stupid. I have to stop him!" He hung up and belted as fast as he could, rushing to where the explosions were firing off. It didn't take long to find the source, he was right to guess that it was Bakugo...and that his idiot brother would charge in to save him. He rushed through the massive, annoying crowd of people filling the space between him and the explosions. Absently he saw a variety of heros, all with their thumbs up their butts.
Hibiki vaulted over the fencing, right past Tsukauchi in fact, and sprinted to where his brother was attempting to claw Bakugo out. He stopped midway, his brain moving a million miles an hour as he pulled an Izzy and analysised the beasty before him. An idea overcame him. "Waterguy, aim for the mouth and eyes. It's a viscious fluid, it should weaken enough for Deatharms to rip Bakugo out."
Tsukauchi nodded, turning to the guy dressed like a firefighter. " He's right, the villian should dissolve, even if it is more oil then water the pressure should force it to dissolve."
The firefighter guy nodded and turned his host at the villan, spraying it harshly. The villian screamed, bellowing hatefully as it actually began to dissolve enough that Izuku actually made some headway. Bakugo looked on with shock and hate, but pulled his body hatefully away from the villian. Deatharms blasted past him, grabbing the idiot harshly and ripping him from the villian's grip and carrying him and Izzy away. Hibiki joined them, sprinting and readying himself to say something to his stupid brother.
Only to be too busy hugging the idiot close to his chest the moment he was set down by Deatharms. He wanted to cry, to sob into his brother and never let him go, the idea he was so close to death was... unbearable."
"You moron. Do you have a death wish?" Kamui woods all but screamed at Izuku as soon as he came near.
Death arms bellowed. "There was absolutely no reason for you to put yourself in danger like that.
Hibiki turned and decked the man hard enough that he fell on his ass, despite his super strength. "Are you his parent? No, your a stranger who was useless until a fourteen year old non hero told you what to do. Izuku showed more bravery and spunk then all of you so called heroes could manage. Yell at him again and I'll really make it hurt"
"Man, you're tough, Kid! And that quirk is somethin' else! When you wanna go pro, head over to my agency first! I'd love for you to be my sidekick while you're training!" Hibiki shuddered, hearing those words and knew it was directed to Bakugo.
"And you, I'd check out his character before you offered that to a tool like him. Power means nothing if your a piece of human garbage, which he is I promise you. A sociopathic bully we should have left for the villian to finish off." He didn't care that Izzy gasped, or that the heroes looked horrified that he said that.
Thankfully Tsukauchi approached, a wary smile on his face. "Any scoldings for me?"
"No offering of food? No hug? I am hurt."
The man rolled his eyes then embraced him, pulling away. "Your smarter then most pros it seems, where'd you get that idea it was super effective."
Shuddering, Hibiki realized he had to reveal his secret to his idiot brother. "I've wanted to be a hero forever, I've been studying fights for years. I may not be as obsesed as Izzy, but I know my stuff. " He felt Izzy freeze up in his arms and knew they would be exchanging words later." Mutants with a watery body type are rare, but they do exist. The last one resulted in four casualties, I wanted to do better then the heroes so... plus it just made sense. He was made of fluid so diluting him made sense."
The detective smiled. "This is why I am recommending you to the Hero program... your too bright and too capable... behave yourself and take your brother home."
"Will do." He turned and glared at the heroes, getting them to step back in shock. " Come on Izzy, let's go."
Death arms growled. "Kid hit me and nothing?"
Tsukauchi shrugged. "You were screaming at his brother instead of doing your job and checking to see if he was okay. You got what you deserved frankly. I know that kid, he could have broken your face in with a kick, you got off lucky."
Hibiki saw his brother's eyes widen. "You know that detective?"
"Yeah, he was the one who arrested me. He's been a big help for years."
"He's getting you into the hero program... but not me?"
Hibiki sighed. "He doesn't know you, and frankly... what are you doing to get into it? I mean besides analysis? You don't work out, you don't learn combat, you just... talk a big talk, dreams are great but without effort they stay dreams. I spent five hours a day training my body to be a hero. I spend two hours a day studying strategy and tactics, I watch old fights and I go to therapy to become a better person I don't react with violence every time I am pissed...I've earned my spot. You really haven't."
Izuku shudderd and pulled away from him. "Why didn't you tell me, why did you leave me alone in my dreams?" His voice was hurt, more hurt then anything Hibiki could tolerate... and yet it enraged him more then it saddened him.
He grabbed his brother's chin and spoke low. "I knew you wouldn't be able to handle it. Your too obsessed with heroes, but like I said you do nothing with it. Besides, is it worth the ridicule, abuse and pain? No, I want to shove it up their noses when I become an amazing hero, not endanger myself before I rise."
His brother turned to him, eyes wet. "Do you think I can be a hero too?" When he asked that simple sentence, the world around Hibiki shattered. Now he was hurting...
Hibiki sighed and decided to be honest. "I am not sure you want to be one." He put a hand , stopping Izuku's words. "I love you Izzy, but let's be honest here. You've spent a lifetime watching heroes, the fun and exciting side that you have done nothing about the hard parts. You've done nothing to make your dreams a reality, so as you are ... no... but if you start to train with me... stop calling Katsuki Kaachan and go to therapy, then maybe? I mean it will be hard, bone breaking work... but it would be more possible then you are now. Oh and don't tell mom I want to be a hero, the last thing I need is her doubt weighing on me. It's our secret."
For some reason His brother stomped away, childish and betrayed. "I... I... ugh, just... Go away, Hibiki... leave me alone."
"Fine, be a brat if you want to, but remember I offered a way for you to achieve your dreams..." Hibiki walked away from his brother, annoyed and hurt. "I needed to go on a jog anyway."
And so they went their seperate ways, neither knowing the steps that would come, changing their futures entirely...
Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.
Izuku is a little bratty here, but he is like that with his mom in canon so why not Hibiki who frankly is more mature.
Love, your Ninja Overlord,
Mika.
