Bakugo's POV
"Izuku? What happened to you?"
He wanted to understand how his exbest friend could have changed so much. The same boy he had bullied for being weak because he didnt have a quirk. He knew that he was a terrible person before Dabi and Toga took him in. It was a byproduct of his upbringing and the abuse of his parents.
Teachers didnt care all they saw was the perfect heroic quirk. Something he would learn didnt actually exist. Anyone coulr be a hero or a villain it all depended on their actions.
Dabi had showed Katsuki that just because his quirk was powerful didnt mean there wasnt someone stronger. He got his ass handed to him on a regular basis. It wasn't abuse like it had been at home though. Dabi was simply trying to improve his capabilities. To make him a better vigilante and maybe one day a good hero.
Katsuki wasnt stupid he knew what that bow meant. Only one person in the area used such an old weapon. The city's new vigilante. He also knew that just because it was an archaic weapon doesnt mean it wasnt effective.
The sharp point of the arrow was pointed at his chest. It didnt even waiver as he asked his question. Green eyes hardened as he watched Katsuki.
Katsuki tried again, "Izuku? Its me, Katsuki Bakugo. We grew up together."
He watched as Izuku's hands tightened around his bow and arrow. Damn it. Either the other boy didnt remember him or he didnt care.
Katsuki said remembering their friendship that he broke off due to his own callousness, "Izuku I remember when we would play heroes together. I know that I was a bastard to you when your quirk didnt come in. I should have said this long ago but you disappeared. I'm sorry."
Green eyes blinked in surprise. Then the boy put away the arrow and lowered his bow. With a sharp look given to him before shaking his head. Then Izuku turned around and headed back into his camper.
Katsuki hesitated for a few seconds before he followed the other. The bow was laid by the entrance and Izuku laid out on a sleeping bag. His hood was thrown back revealing his face. Katsuki recognized the older face of his friend. There was a scar across Izuku's chin in the form of an x.
He said looking around the camper, "Nice place. When did you get this?"
The greenette simply stared at him with a raised eyebrow. Katsuki had a sense of dawning horror. Could it be that Izuku couldn't speak?
Katsuki asked in broken sign, 'Can you speak?'
Izuku nodded shocked. Then he signed back Katsuki having to concentrate to understand, 'I can speak. Sometimes. I just dont anymore. Not since...'
From there the hands shook too much for Katsuki too understand. There was a far off look in the green eyes.
Katsuki said moving towards him a hand raised to pat his exfriends shoulder, "I'm sorry I brought it up. Why are you here though? You disappeared over ten years ago?"
Green eyes seemed to clear as the boy considered him. Then Izuku shook his head gently not giving him an answer. Fine it seems he would not be getting an answer this evening. Pushing would only get another arrow to his face.
Izuku's POV
It had been a surprise to find Katsuki there. Out of everyone he expected to run into in Japan his exfriend turned bully was the last one. Then to get an apology for something that happened years prior. It was as if Izuku was dreaming.
Still he watched with a small frown to watched Katsuki leave. A part of him wanted to hold onto the lingering anger within him. Instead he let go of the anger and went through his breathing exercises that his father taught him.
Anger would do nothing but drag him down. So he let go of his anger and he went back into his camper. Sleeping was a long time coming.
It would be a few nights later that would find him running across the rooftops. For once it was quiet and very few people criminals or civilians were out. Twice Izuku had to drop back into the shadows. On the other hand he had come across several heroes. They were obviously looking for someone. Probably him.
Close to three am he paused on a rooftop on the far side of patrol route. He sat on the roof taking a sip from his flask that he kept in his jacket. It was just water as he knew that alchohol would only impair him. And with the League out there it could be a deadly mistake.
As he returned the flask his jacket he heard movement behind him. The hand went straight for the knife on his belt. If someone thought he was an easy mark they would be in for a surprise.
A voice called out calmly, "Hold up. I'm not here to hurt you."
Eraser... great what did the hero want now? Izuku turned to face the hero his eyes narrowing in suspicion. The man held out his hands in a nonthreatening manner. He didnt make a move for his capture scarf or the knife at his side.
Keeping his senses about him he didnt feel any eyes upon him. That didnt mean there wasnt someone watching. If there was however they were being discreet about it.
Eraserhead kept his arms out in a nonthreatening manner as he moved closer. Taking a deep breath the vigilante loosening his muscles. It wasnt a relaxed position but he wasnt aggressive either. He allowed Eraser to sit on the edge of the roof several feet away. It was not close enough to grab him but fighting in this position would be dangerous.
Finally the man said, "I hoped to be able to talk to you. Tsukauchi has been given orders to bring you in. Willingly or not."
Izuku turned to look at the dark haired man. Questions gleaned in his eyes but he kept his silence.
"You've done a lot of good in the short time since you've arrived," continued the hero calmly, "We dont believe you should ruin your chances at a good life by being arrested."
'What future?' he signed tiredly.
It wasnt him being cynical. Izuku had no future in this life, not as he was. Assassins were looking for him. Hunting him down to return him to the castle in the desert.
"You believe you don't have a future?" Questioned the hero incredulously.
Izuku shook his head as he signed, 'You cant have a future in my kind of situation. I'll do all I can for as long as I can but its only a matter of time.'
"What do you mean?"
'I am Namir,' he signed carefully, 'The one I am sworn to will come for me. Someone can only hide from him for so long.'
"Namir," the hero tested the waters with Izuku's League name, "That means the Tiger in Arabic, doesnt it?"
Izuku flinched heavily. He moved back away from the hero. Eraser stayed where he was, watching every move he made. He said too much it was time to go before he was too distracted.
Without a sound Izuku escaped back across the rooftops. Eyes followed him until he was out of sight.
