SS

Dragging back my carcass

To the castle I abhor

I wince at the time

As usual, it's gone four

Finally at the dungeons

Not too far to go

I realise with a grimace

I must go very slow

For my leg,
or rather my knee

Had been savaged

utterly

I reach out with red hands

To the wall, my only support

The crimson liquid is slippy-I fall

My quest cut short

Laying in a heap,
bathing in blood,sweat and tears

The pain overwhelms me

For the first time in years

Sprawled in a haze

As silent as the dead,
I fail to notice, the ruby trail

left in my stead

Little did I know,
in my moment of inertness

That someone had seen the tracks

And with expert curtness

Had swiftly changed course

To see the source of the path

To see if she could be of aid

Oh, what a bloody farce!

If I had been alert

I would have seen her face

The reaction shocked and scared

She immediately quickened her pace

The last thing I remember,
intoxicated with pain,
is seeing angel eyes

And my heart's hurt wane

The plot thickens...
