Years Later - American Samoa
There was a big group of people standing on the beach looking directly at the ocean. They were waiting. Waiting for something big. Or rather someone big. A child was surfing on the waves but unfortunately got caught by a big wave that he just couldn't escape and managed to get caught in the wave and damn near drowning.
"O i ina la." (1) Someone said in samoan as they pointed to the sea looking forward seeing a man rise from the ocean with a frown on his face as he carried a young boy in his arms. The crowd of people came running over to him as the man carried the kid. He dropped down to his knees and gently laid his body down on the sand as the woman whom he guessed was his mother. She dropped down to her knees with tears in her eyes crying as she started to do chest compressions trying to free her son's lungs of the water that was trapped in his lungs.
The man simply watched with a frown as she kept pushing.
"Seʻi oʻu taumafai." (2) The man said as he placed a hand on the mother's shoulder making her look up at him and nod before she did as he said and moved out of the way allowing him to kneel next to the boy. The man exhaled before he placed a hand on his chest and placed one slightly above his mouth and closed his eyes to focus.
The people around him looked on with confusion as they watched him. The boy's mother looked on with hope. Hope in this young man who trying to save her son. Hope that the young boy that was her son would survive and make it to see another day in this cold, wretched world.
The man opened his eyes and exhaled as his eyes and his hands began to shine a bright blue. Water started to rise from the boy's mouth slowly making everyone gasp including his mother. The people were shocked to see this type of thing going on looking as if it were pure magic being used to save a life. The boy began to cough as the water that he was once choking on began to clear his throat allowing him to breath once more as he gasped for air.
The young man stood up to his feet and looked while the boy's mother dropped down to her knees in the sand and hugged her boy. Clutching him as tight as she can without hurting him.
"Faafetai." (3) She cried looking up at the young man that saved her son. He simply nodded at her as the people that watched clapped for the young hero, making him smile as he walked through the crowd going to his old man who watched from afar on his porch of his beach house.
"Wade, you always did have a thing for theatrics." the man said, making the young man named Wade chuckle and look at the man.
"I missed you too grandpa." Wade said, giving his grandfather a hug, making the man smile seeing his grandfather. His grandfather was a rather average height male standing at 5'9. He had the same skin tone as Wade with chocolate brown eyes.
Wade and his grandfather backed away looking each other in the eyes as a sign of mutual respect. Wade had abilities. Special abilities. Abilities that allowed him to swim all the way from his family's native island of American Samoa all the way to Clearlake, California. If he truly wanted to and put effort in his swimming, he could make it in less than 10 minutes which was insane for a mortal. Or a half-mortal in his case. Wade was the son of the God of Sea. He was the son of Poseidon.
His mother thought it was best to tell him early in his life rather than keep it a secret and let him find out later on in life. Wade appreciated her honesty and it brought them closer but made Wade hate his father even more. And because no one would believe him if he told them Wade had to keep it a secret from virtually everyone including some of his family members with the exception of his grandfather.
"So what brings you here?"
"I wanted to check on you."
"Really?"
"Well that and Mom told me to get out of the house."
"So you decided to come here? You don't have any friends that you could be with?"
"A strong man is strongest alone." Wade said. Wade was a loner. It was just in his nature. He didn't like to be around people that weren't his family. It was just the way he was. He was quiet. The way he found it, you make friends then you open yourself to weakness and then you have to try to let them in. And letting them in can lead to some things. Some pretty bad things.
"One day Wade, you'll find a woman that'll change you forever."
"Well, until that day, I'll stick to just coming to bother you." He said putting a hand on his shoulder making him chuckle.
"It seems that you have a knack for saving people. Have you ever thought about actually making something of it?" Wade rolled his eyes hearing what his grandfather suggested. This was a constant thing that his grandfather did. He always suggested that Wade sort of use his abilities much like Wade's favorite demigod hero, Hercules. Wade's family were some of the select few who studied Greek mythology rather than Polynesian mythology.
"No, grandpa. We've been over this, I'm not gonna do that. The people don't need a champion like Hercules."
"They do, you just don't think so. Now can I convince you to stay for lunch?"
"Sure, why not? I've got nothing better to do."
"Well, come on in and grab a bite." said his grandpa walking into his home with his grandson following close behind him looking on with a smile on his face.
A Few Hours Later
The time was now 5:44 PM in American Samoa which meant it was 9:44 in California and luckily no one was on the beach at the time. It was about a 5,000 mile swim from where he was to where he lived in California. He had to try to hurry up and be back by 11 which was the time his mother got off from work. He was kinda surprised that she hadn't called to check up on him but maybe that was because he was with his grandfather and she knew he was gonna be.
When it came down to it, his mother had a few rules about his abilities. #1, Don't tell anyone #2 Hide them people he didn't trust, which was rather difficult for him when it came to being in Samoa. He was comfortable there, he trusted mostly everyone that was in his town. Nobody understood what he was in Samoa. If you asked any of them, they believed that he was Tangaloa sent there to protect them but he wasn't. He was just the scion of Poseidon.
Wade looked down at the ocean with a frown. It was something about being in the ocean or anybody of water for that matter. He felt comfortable in the water. He felt stronger. He felt at home. He could see things underwater that a normal human being could not. He could communicate with the sea life and make them do things for him. He could swim down to the depths of the ocean. He could heal himself using the water in a sense. He could control the water in a way. He hadn't been able to do some of the other things his father was able to do like 'cause earthquakes or sea storms just yet but he was learning. Learn enough that one day he could master the full control of his abilities.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" He heard a voice making him sigh as he heard just who the hell he thought it was.
"Fuck off." Wade simply said not even turning around to see who it was.
"I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that."
"Well, do you want me to repeat it again for you?" he said turning around this time to the face his father.
"Wade, I'm just trying to help you realize your full potential."
"I can do that just fine on my own." He said turning around facing the ocean again.
"I'm trying to be a father to you." Poseidon said making the frown that was on Wade's face intensify. The way he saw it, Poseidon had years. Years to try a be a father but no once in Wade's life did Poseidon ever try to do his fatherly duties. And it was damn sure, too late to try and be one.
"You had your chance and you fucking blew it. I don't want anything to do with you."
"Whether you like it or not, you're connected to me which means you're part of the prophecy."
"What the hell are you talking about?" Wade said peeking over his shoulder looking at his father.
"I can't tell you but you'll learn about it sooner than later."
"It's just like you to lie to me."
"Wade, don't turn your back on the world."
"Fuck the world. The world turned its back on me. It's time I return the favor." A little bit over 2 years ago, Wade lost his girlfriend, Katie Andrews to something that he couldn't describe to the average person. Something that was deemed as impossible. A minotaur, a creature that is half-bull, half-human.
"Wade, you can't turn your back on the world forever. You have to honor her legacy."
"I don't have to do a damn thing. Just like you didn't have to be a father all those years. I don't have to save anyone."
"Wade, please." Wade simply ignored his father and walked into the water. He turned back one more time to look at his father before he disappeared off into the water leaving Poseidon standing there looking on with a scowl. His son was much like he was at a young age and now he was realizing just how difficult he was.
"Great Gaia, please help my son realize just how important he is before it's too late." Poseidon said before he too walked into water disappearing into it to go back to his kingdom.
A/N: Well that Chapter 1, trying to establish the dynamic between Wade and Poseidon and establish Wade's character. I didn't focus on the plot too much in this one but I will in the next Chapter. I just wanted to show off Wade's character a bit. And guys, I still need OCs so if you please can send me some of those please.
