Chapter 3

Jackson walked into The Chicken Wing Joint. He then looked to see the Station 37 team sitting at bar. Vince, one of the firefighters, ran over to him.

"There's my favorite cousin!" Vince cheered, grabbing Jackson by the hand and pulling him over to the bar.

"Hey, Jackson!" Tucker cheered. "What are you doing here on a Monday night?"

"I was called into work and now I'm hungry," Jackson said. "I'm here to get a to-go order."

"Seriously?" Vince asked. "You'd rather go home to your trailer in the middle of nowhere and hang out with your doggies than hang out with us?"

"I don't want to just go home and hang out with my dogs," Jackson said. "I want to finish the movie I was watching."

"And what movie would that be?" Vince asked teasingly. "A made-for-television movie where they kiss at the end?"

"No," Jackson said. "I'm watching some action movie a friend recommended. It's pretty stupid."

"More the reason to hang out with us," Vince said.

"I'm too tired," Jackson said. "Some other time."

After getting his food, Jackson walked outside the restaurant to see a car with its hazard lights flashing on the side of the road. Jackson walked over to see a woman standing by the car.

"Are you okay, ma'am?" Jackson asked

"I have a flat tire and my phone just died," the woman replied.

"You can use my phone," Jackson said, reaching into his pocket.

Jackson felt a gun barrel pressed against his head.

"Your wallet will do," a male voice said.

Jackson quickly got out his wallet and handed it to the man. The man and the woman jumped into the car and sped off. Before Jackson had time to react, a police car pursued the car. The woman pulled over and Angie got out of the police car with her gun drawn. Two more police cars surrounded them and exited their vehicles.

"Step out of the car with your hands up!" Angie shouted.

The man and the woman stepped out of the vehicle and the officers handcuffed them. Angie looked in the car and took out Jackson's wallet. She then walked over to Jackson.

"This your wallet?" Angie asked.

"Yes," Jackson said in shock. "Thank you, Officer."

"Patrol Sergeant Angie Williams," Angie said.

"It's nice to finally meet you in person," Jackson said.

Angie gasped.

"You're the 9-1-1 operator from earlier when I arrested the car thief," Angie said.

"Yep," Jackson said. "Small world. I'm Jackson, by the way."

"Nice to formally meet you, Jackson," Angie said.

"You too, Angie," Jackson said.

Vince ran out of the restaurant and over to them. He then hugged Jackson tightly.

"Jackson!" Vince exclaimed. "I saw the whole thing! That was scary!"

"You're one of the firefighters from Station 37," Angie said.

"Yep," Vince said. "Vice Callerson."

"I'm assuming you're related," Angie said.

"He's my cousin," Jackson said. "My very annoying cousin."

"Well," Angie said. "I'd better get to the station. You stay safe."

"You too," Jackson said.

Angie walked off and Vince continued to hold his cousin tight.

"Vince," Jackson said. "Let go."

"I'll never let you go!" Vince teased. "Never, never, never!"
