Cesar or Tempest here. I got this chapter finished early. This is my first real chapter. It's all world building and dialogue however. I keep on saying there will be action soon but I have to set up Jaxson's mentality and character.
I headed to the Hermes cabin where I may run into her. I'll run into her anyways at dinner but I want to understand how to use my powers as soon as possible. I'll never know when I might need them. As I walked two guys came up to me. "What's up, newbie. I'm Connor and that's Travis." He says pointing to Travis " We're brothers. I'm older by one year and taller. Connor is the midget." Travis jokes as he walks with me. "Hey that's not cool dude." He pauses "What's your name, newbie?" Connor asks. "I'm Jaxson Morrigan. Jaxson with a X." I answered. That's my most common line so far. I hate going to new places. "Well Jaxson, who's your parent or are you unclaimed?" Travis asks. While he says that I notice Connor beginning to slow down and slowly going out of my vision. "I'm a son Hecate. Connor walk in front of me and stop checking my pockets for money." I announce catching Connor red handed. "Damn he got me. You're pretty good. There's some children of Hecate in Hermes cabin, most notably Lou. She's the oldest." He says now walking on my left. "I was just looking for her. Actually, do you know where I can find her?" I ask. "Yeah we know but you'll have to pay." Connor says mischievously. "What do you want?" They better not ask something absurd. "You're gonna help us prank Ares cabin in a few days.." Travis demands "Deal." I exclaim without hesitation. That doesn't sound too bad "She's usually on the beach. You'll find her there. If not she's at the strawberry farm." Travis answers kicking pebbles. "Strawberry farm?" I ask confused. Connor chimes in "Yeah that's how the camp gets mortal money. You can't use Drachmas to buy normal stuff." "Oh ok." I say pretending to understand. "Anyways pleasure doing business with you. We got a prank to set up." Travis says. Running off with Connor not far behind. Talk about a duo. I think to myself.
I head towards the sound of the ocean. After a few minutes of walking I reached the beach. In the distance I see someone sitting on some rocks watching the horizon. I walk to them and she looks like Lou. "You're Lou right?" "Yeah who's asking." She questions "My name's Jaxson and I got claimed by Hecate. Do you mind teaching me what you know about our powers?" I ask "Not at all. But I don't really have much power. I can manipulate the mist really well and I can make small objects levitate but that's all." She admits sheepishly "That's still better than what I can do." She starts laughing a little bit. Then replies "You must really suck then." "I guess you can say that. I just found out I'm a demigod today." I confessed. She analyses me for a moment "You still have a lot of mist around you. Do you want me to move it off you?" She asks. I don't want her to move it off me. I'm guessing it's harder to hide yourself in the mist than removing yourself from it. "No it's fine." "Suit yourself. So to begin manipulating the mist just imagine that you can move it and that it's tangible. Then you'll be able to feel the mist on your hand kind of like the force in star wars I guess." I stuck my hand out and concentrated. I began to feel me touching the air around me as if it was jello. "I feel it, I can feel the mist on my hand!" I exclaim. "Great job. Now imagine what you want that mist to be." She says excitedly. A sword. A sword. A sword. A sword. I want to make a sword. I close my eyes and feel the weight of the mist moving and taking a shape. "Well that's a nice figurine." Lou remarks. In my hand was a small sword, one that was as big as Lou said, a figurine. "Well we all start somewhere." I reply.
I trained with Lou until she had to go to archery with Chiron. The sun was almost about to set. I sat there thinking, rewinding all the events that have happened today. As I sat there I realised who I wanted to talk to. My parents and my mom Hecate. So many questions I wanted answers for. Who are my parents really? Who is my real dad? Why didn't Hecate see me earlier? Who were the three ladies in the taxi? Who am I really? I'm not really Jaxson anymore. Jaxson had two parents and lived in California. Now I'm across the country and a demigod of a Greek goddess. Incredible how life can change in a instant. For some reason I feel like I'll enjoy this place. Probably because I haven't slept on the floor yet but I'll enjoy it nonetheless. Luke seems like a great guy. He may have some problems but who doesn't. Chris too he's probably a great guy. Lou is really chill and understanding after a bit. I wonder what Markus is doing. I pull out my phone and call Markus. "The number you've dialed is unavailable please try again." The monotone voice informs. Number is unavailable. That's strange, maybe this place has some kind of protection. I'll have to ask someone later. But no matter how good this place is I'll still miss home. The sun now begins to set. I get up, dust my clothes off and head to see what's next on my schedule.
"Jaxson! It's going to be dinner soon. What are you doing out here?" Luke asked, sounding annoyed. "I was learning how to use my powers with Lou. Then I just sat on the beach for a bit thinking about today." I explained. "Okay then come on let's head to dinner." He responded. "I talked to Annabeth. It seems like Hecate has quite a bit of powers." I declared. "She is Titaness after all. She could vaporise us with just her presence." He began. "You're lucky you know. Your mother spent her energy letting you have a nice life." He pointed out. He's right she has been protecting me. "You're right I'm lucky. I've only been here one day and I see how badly the residents of Hermes cabin are treated. I wish there's a way for that to change. But you said the gods never change." I acknowledged. "Yeah. They never change." he whispers looking at the sky.
The rest of the walk was in silence. The rest of Hermes' cabin was already seated. A seat for Luke was saved at the top of the table. I sat at the back. Everyone around me is already engaged in conversation. I sat in silence. "A chicken sandwich, fries and apple juice please." I ask no one in particular. As my food appeared I began eating. I wonder how strong I can get. I want to become a badass. Like Sung Jin-Woo or Kratos. With the powers my mother has I should be able to become that powerful if I train hard enough. I looked around and saw a large bonfire with a young girl sitting there sewing. I'll talk to her after dinner. I thought to myself maybe she could tell me some more about this camp. I finished my food the same way I started in silence. I was the last to burn my food. "Thanks again mom. I'll bring you honor. But how can I contact you?" I whisper. "Just think about talking to me and say something I'll hear you. I may not always answer back, but I'll hear you Jaxson." I smile."Thanks mom." Where did honor come from?
I head over to the campfire for the first time. Luke said earlier depending on everyone's mood the campfire would fluctuate. The young girl I saw earlier was still sitting there but now was no longer sewing. Instead she was looking around the campfire smiling. Occasionally glancing at those around her. Her smile was warming even so far away from her. A seat was empty right next to her and I sat there. "The fire is beautiful isn't it?" I turned to her. She looked around and still saw me looking at. her. "Yes it is beautiful. I'm surprised you can see me. No one has talked to me for years." "Why are you a ghost or something?" She giggles. "No. I'm just easily brushed over. I like it though." She adds in. "Well with that smile you would think you're hard to miss." I say as I smile back at her. "Thank you…" She pauses. "What's your name?" "My name is Jaxson Morrigan. I'm a son of Hecate. That's why you can't see my name. And you tried to read my mind so I'm guessing you are a goddess.?" I ask her just to confirm. "Nice to meet you Jaxson. And yes I am a goddess. I am Hestia, goddess of the hearth. Oldest daughter of Kronos." She confesses. I look at her stunned. "So you're like a major goddess. Did you get sent here too cause you broke a rule or something." She giggles again "No I'm not a major goddess and I came here on my own. I like it here." "Major goddess or not you're important." She sighs "Yes I suppose. But I am fine with being on the sidelines. That is why I gave my throne to Dionysus." "See you are important. You were an Olympian goddess." I exclaim "I let that all go for the sake of family. If I had stayed another war would've started." At that moment I understood what type of goddess no person she was. She was a good one. She gave up her power to save her family. Would I have done the same? I do not know. "You're amazing. Did you know that? I highly doubt any god or goddess would've done the same." She sighs again "I suppose. If only they valued family more." "Can't you change anything." She looks at me sadly "They do not wish to change. As is the saying. You can't teach an old dog new tricks." Another pause "I should get going now. Enjoy the bonfire." She says getting up and dusting her clothes off. "Will you be here tomorrow?" I ask "Yes I will." She answers "Then so will I." She gives me one last smile and walks away.
I hadn't noticed there was a sing along till a camper called out "One more song before we call it a night." The song was almost inaudible to me and once again I thought back at all that has happened today. Such a beautiful yet strange world we all live in. So much pain and sorrow but so much happiness as well. Sadly we can't have happiness without sorrow. If the world was full of Hestias and others like her such a world could exist. However this is no such world. And I have yet to see the worse. I have no doubt I will see terrible things as a demigod. But if I'm fighting for a future of peace and prosperity where good people can thrive I will do what I can to make it happen.
As I snapped out of my thoughts I saw as everyone was getting up. I guess it's time to head to the cabin. I walked with the herd till I reached Hermes cabin. Luke was already there with a sleeping bag, an orange shirt with shorts, a small pouch and a piece of paper. "Here take this. this is all yours. Your schedule has been set up automatically since you're a son of Hecate. But you still have swordsmanship practice in the morning. You can also change the schedule as you see fit if you talk to Chiron. You can take any spot on the floor and everything directly near it will be counted as yours. This shirt and shorts are your uniform I guess you can call it. You can get another pair tomorrow. This pouch has ten Dracmas in it. You can use those for Iris messaging and to buy certain items you want." I nodded as he went through a rehearsed explanation. "Any questions?" " What's Iris messaging?" "Iris messaging is a form of communication. You need mist like the water kind. Then you pray to the goddesses Iris and throw a Dracma at the mist. Anyone's name you say afterwards will appear in a call type thing. When you do it you'll see what I mean." I'm honestly not surprised anymore. I mean I've already met a centaur.
I found an open spot on the floor the people sitting next to me where busy talking to other people about their day. I took out the dracma pouch and took out a dracma. It looked like gold. It probably was gold. I sat there inspecting the coin as if I was an appraiser. The image of what I'm guessing is Olympus engraved on the coin on both sides was beautifully done. "Time for lights out." Luke called and the lights were shut off. I slipped the drachma back into the pouch and laid in my sleeping bag. Even with all the people on the floor with me it was dead silent. Not a single word was spoken. Not a single movement made. We all laid there in silence trying to fall asleep. I at least still had my phone. It was thirty percent. Enough to last until I fell asleep. I waited until the first person began snoring. After a long wait I heard someone across the room snoring. My sleeping bag was luckily too big for me and I slithered inside it. Till my entire body was inside. There was barely enough room to use my phone. So I decided I would only text my parents goodnight. After that I laid on the floor waiting for my eyes to adjust to the darkness so I could see the roof. After a while they did. And not long after I fell asleep as well.
I dreamt of a castle. A Tall muscular man with brown hair done as crew cut. was walking alongside a moderately sized elegant woman with her silky black hair below her shoulders. They were both like living sculptures. Not one imperfection between the two. I watched them walk in silence as they entered a great hall that led to a throne room. There were seventeen thrones set in a semicircle with a Golden throne in the center. There were three empty seats, two of which I assumed were the thrones of the people I was following. The golden throne still had my eye as its owner was not present. Then I noticed the man standing next to it. A man shorter than the one around him. But with just one look I knew what he lacked in size he more than made up for in intellect. His toga was light red with a golden scythe at the top. His hair as black as night, he had a buzz cut the most boring haircut of them all. "Prometheus", the man I had been following called. "Where is my Uncle?" "He will be arriving shortly. Do not worry Perses he will listen to your requests." He grunted as he and the woman sat together. The man Perses sat on a throne of obsidian and the woman sat on a beautiful throne that looked like a starry sky. Almost identical to The other man sitting next to her. Then it clicked. A story I had learned in fifth grade. Prometheus was a titan. The titan who gifted humanity fire and was punished for it. The sound of footsteps began to echo from down the hall. I looked and saw a stunning man. Blonde hair that looks like gold set as a comb over, a perfect tan and a smile. The smile however wasn't a normal one. It was as if he knew something no one else knew. I turned back to the thrones. Everyone who had been sitting stood their faces emotionless except for one different woman with pure green eyes and long black hair. She looked like she had just seen her child die. The man walked up to his Golden throne and sat down looking at the Perses. Grinning even wider "Now what is it you would like to request Perses?" Perses stood up and faced him "I would like my daughter to join the council once she grows of age. Even at this young age she has shown immense skill and strength reminiscent of myself. With the elegance and intelligence of her mother Asteria." The woman from the beginning nodded in approval leading me to believe she was Asteria. "Interesting. She would make a fine addition to the council. But alas there are many others in line who are also capable enough to join at the moment." The man on the golden throne says nonchalantly. "Perhaps we could have her show her worth at a later date. After all with the prophecy still ongoing we will need capable fighters. And no doubt a daughter of yours Perses will be able to match the toughest of foes." "Thank you Uncle." Perses says as he sits down. So this man is the king and Prometheus is hks advisor I'm guessing. This has to be Kronos there is no way this can't be Kronos. "Koios, Hyperion, Krios, Iapetos and Helios. Any rats that may be lurking in the shadows?" The man with the other stary throne stands up. "No brother. We have not seen any threats to your rule." "Tsk. Not threats. Rats" Kronos says as if he was lecturing a young child. "Sorry brother. No rats are hiding in the shadows." "Good." Kronos smile widens "Then that concludes this short meeting. Remember no teleporting inside the castle walls. It would be a pain to replace so many servants ." With that everyone began to leave except for Kronos. He simply sat on his throne leisurely smiling. His smile still the same as before. He knew something no one else did. I knew that without a doubt. Then he turned to me and after analyzing me his smile widened once more " I hope you enjoyed this little snip it of a history lesson." Then before I could say a word I woke up.
Well that's Kronos' first appearance. I honestly don't like how he was done at the later half of the books. From what I remember to me at least all the fear and tension was gone. Then the fact Kronos' had one goal and practically no personality. I'll try to make Kronos a more realistic character so to say. Because he really is wasted potential. Also alot of other titans should've been added to the original story. Who wouldn't want the fucking God of destruction fighting with them.
Another note a lot of people talk about the shitty power scaling and I completely agree. So power scaling will stay consistent. If I decide to stay true to the books Percy will be able to beat a minor god in battle. I will not make him Olympian level at twelve.
Also I'll say this again do not expect any ships that are not canon. I kind of made Hestia seem like a love intrest but that won't be the case. Cause that's another mess all together. If you have any questions or anything just ask. Any complaints tell me and I'll check it out. Cesar or Tempest no longer dumbass out.
