AN: I am a busy man with many things going on in my life and I also procrastinate too much. Anyway, I hope you have been looking forward to what would be called exotic relations ships. I will not reveal them until it is apparent.

The Wings of Fire characters will be introduced in this chapter. The 1st and 2nd arcs will be used. To get a sense of time in the books, this story takes place after the defeat of Darkstalker. There will be some changes in the relationships and other small details. If you have no clue who each character is or what the setting is, I will do my best to portray the characters in the books. For the setting, I recommend reading the Wings of Fire books arc 1 and 2, including Darkstalker's book. Jade Mountain Academy will be in this story.

For Wings of Fire fans: I am a sucker for Winterwatcher. It feels more right and just logically sound. Say what you want but Qibli will have a different female, my new dragon OC Phoenix who is a Skywing.

Wings of Fire ships will include but not limited to:

Winterwatcher (Winter x Moonwatcher)

Qilnix (Qilbi x Phoenix (OC))

Turtlejou (Turtle x Kinkajou)

etc.

Enjoy

A Prince's Tale

Chapter 2

"Ah, hello young prince. Where are we going today?" asked Spector, Chase's Amphithere friend and ride from place to place.

"Hey Spector, mom said you and I can go to Norwich," Chase stated, patting the side of Spector, feeling his scaly feathers.

"You sure you want to go there? It's extra cold there today," Spector warned.

"I'll grab my coat then," Chase said as he ran back to the castle to get his fur coat that was made from moose skin.

"Alright then," Spector said as he stretched his long wings in the courtyard of the castle.

Chase would return to Spector and would hop on to the Ampitheir. Due to restrictions, creatures who can fly are not allowed to take off or land within the city for protection and security reasons. In order to fly to the pair's destination, they must first exit the city. Only then they can start their trip.

Chase, being the prince, will have to be escorted by Royal Guards through the city.

Meanwhile in the Main City

As the prince was walking through the city with Spector and his escort of Royal Guards. Others would see the prince leave the castle and would crowd around him. At least his guards would keep the crowd at bay.

"Make way. Make way. Make way for the prince," The captain of the guard bellowed.

In the background by the blacksmith would a group of canines. A male mixed breed hybrid, a male Dalmation, a female White West Terrier, a female Cockapoo hybrid, and a female light blue German Shepherd. The group would watch the crowd surround the guards just to get a glimpse of the hybrid prince.

"Jeez, where is the prince going today?" the hybrid said to the group.

"Oh, I hope over here to carry me away to the palace," the White West Terrier exclaimed dramatically.

"Yeah right, Sweetie, Prince Chase will pick me to be his queen. Then I will have the pleasure to have the second Lightning Dragon," the Cockapoo argued.

"He might not even choose either of you," the light blue German Shepherd stated.

As the girls started to go back into another argument, the dalmatian came up to his hybrid friend. "Why did you even ask, Rocky?" the dally asked with a giggle.

"I didn't know they would start to argue, for the fifteenth time today," Rocky signed the last part, "Do you know where he is going, Marshall?"

"My mother said he will be going to Norwich," Marshall said, "Other than that. I'm surprised his father allowed him to leave. My mother and I have been put on standby."

"Oh, how come?" Rocky asked. He never knew Marshall was put on standby before.

"By orders of the King. It might not just be about the prince. I overheard that an attack from the mainland might happen," Marshall informed his friend. This also got the attention of the arguing females.

"An attack from the mainland? How do you know about that?" the terrier known as Sweetie asked skeptically.

Marshall turned to face his fellow canines to share what he knew, "When my mother and I were in the throne room, royal scouts came bursting in with news."

"What kind of news?" Skye the Cockapoo asked.

"The kind of news the king doesn't like. Yesterday the scouts stated they saw a massive force of Sandwings, Skywings, and even the thought to be rare Nightwings. The scouts reported that they were intercepted multiple times by dragon patrols near the sandy shores of the mainland. They praised their dragons for protecting them and fighting back. Then this morning near the harbor, spotters spotted a Sandwing scout patrol. When they got close, the defense cannons opened fire with only one shot. After that, the Sandwings turned and ran. Now the King has ordered my mother and I to standby if help is needed while other healers have been notified of the expected attack," Marshall finished with his friends looking at him like he was crazy but the truth was behind his words, so they couldn't deny it.

"Do you think we are prepared for such an attack?" the female German Shepherd, Sylvia asks.

"It is hard to say. We have dragons but they are severely outnumbered let alone the entire island is outnumbered." Marshall confirmed.

"So we are doomed!" Sweetie cried.

"Not necessarily, they may have the numbers advantage but we have something they don't," Rocky stated confidently.

"And what's that?" Skye countered.

"Gunpowder!" Rocky shouted.

"They are dragons, they can shoot fire. Especially the Skywings, and Sandwings have that poisonous barb on their tail. Nightwings are the scariest of all, mind-reading, fortune-telling, they probably know all of the military's moves already. Let alone the ability to just disappear in the night and shadows," Sylvia explained.

"We have more range on the canons than their fire breath, but I guess you are right. Maybe the Nightwings won't join? Hopefully?" Rocky mumbled the last part.

"I thought they were busy fighting their own major war?" Sylvia questioned.

"Their twenty-year-long war has recently ended only for another one to take its place for just a few months. If I recall it was the Nightwings and Icewings fighting each other. But now again they are at peace and we have no idea why they want to attack us," Marshall explained.

"That's just great," Skye mumbled.

Meanwhile, all the way on the continent Pyrriha in the Nightwing village in the Rainwing Kingdom

"Mother, why must they attack an island that is covered in scavengers (humans). They have done nothing wrong," Moonwatcher, a female Nightwing asked her mother Secretkeeper.

"I don't know darling, we can't stop them if they want to. Besides, why are you concerned about the scavengers? It's not like they mean anything, they are just a minuscule creature that is dumb enough to fight dragons," Secretkeeper stated to her daughter. Is it because your friend Winter studies them?

"Well… yes," Moon would read her mother's mind. (Moon has the ability to see the future and read minds because he was born under 2 full moons. No one else in the Nightwings has her abilities.)

"You need to stop doing that," Secretkeeper scolded, "Even if you wanted to be with him, you can't, he's an Icewing."

"Sorry," Moon looked down in shame, "But he is not like the others. He's changed and alone."

"Still," Spcretkeeper spoke, "Nightwings and Icewings are never to be together."

Moon would then walk off frustrated with her mother. The dragoness would walk to the edge of the village listening to other Nightwings' minds on her way.

Are these scavengers smarter than the ones I've encountered before?

I overheard some Sandwings saying these scavengers enslave other inferior dragons.

These scavengers are actually worth fighting.

Moon would be disgusted by some of the snide comments from other Nightwings. This would make her leave for Jade Mountain. The Nightwing would spread her wings and take off to the tall mountain.

Although it is summer break, Qibli the Sandwing, Turtle the Seawing, and Kinkajou the Rainwing are still there at the school. Phoenix, Jade Winglet's new Skywing was also at the Academy with the other members getting to know them and learning the ins and outs of the school before the new school year starts. Lastly, Winter the Icewing is supposedly in Sanctuary with the Talons of Peace studying scavengers.

When Moon arrived at the entrance cave of the dragon school, she was warmly greeted by her fellow clawmates. Kinkajou's scales would be changing rapidly, with yellows, pinks, and all-around bright colors of excitement. Qibli would have a genuine smile with his golden-yellow scales as well as Turtle with his tortoise and sea green scales. Phoenix would be nowhere to be seen but Moon didn't care. At least the dragonets she knew were there.

As she landed down and folded her wings to be flush with her body. Qibli would come up and gave her a side hug. She would receive it happily while Kinkajou tackled her to the ground in excitement.

"Your back your back. It's been a while. How was your summer? Why did you come early? Did you want to meet Phoenix?" the ecstatic Rainwing bombarded her Nightwing companion.

"Whoa. Kink relax." Turtle said calming down the Rainwing.

"She does have a point, however. Why are you here? The school year doesn't start in another week," Qibil stated as he backed up from Moon so she could get up after Kinkajou got off her.

"Just to get away from the idiotic Nightwings who think it is a good idea to attack an island full of scavengers, let alone many other creatures that have done nothing to us," Moon explained a bit infatuated, "Please tell me you aren't on Queen Thorn's side on this one," She looked to Qibli.

The Sandwing was confused by the question but before he could answer. "If he is, it's the last thing he will say!" shouted a voice that spooked all except Moon.

"Winter!?" Moon yelled in excitement but also confusion.

The Icewing Prince would land near the edge of the cliffside his light blue and white scales shining brightly in the afternoon sun. Moon would rush over to him and he would put a wing over her as a sign of affection.

Their heads would snuggle for a moment but would both walk over to the group and Winter would then explain, "There is no actual reason why the Skywings, Sandwings, let alone the Nightwings need to take a small island that is not only inhabited by scavengers but wolves, other dragons, hydras, death birds, flying snakes, and hawks with four legs. Who knows what else they'll encounter."

"From my standpoint, the Sandwings want to prevent another civil war. Therefore the island and its inhabitance but be dealt with," Qibli argued.

This not only infuriated Winter, but Moon, and Turtle as well. "There is no actual evidence that the scavengers from this island were part of the ones that killed Queen Oasis," Turtle countered.

"But it could still happen," Qilbi retorted getting a bit agitated, "I don't want to lose my Queen."

"I understand that but… genociding an entire island is not the answer," Moon said calmly. She then looked to Winter, "Have you learned anything about the creatures from your studies?"

Winter calmed a bit from Moon's soothing voice and then spoke, "I have. Scavengers are much smarter than we dragons give them credit for. They communicate, plan, build and even invent things I have never seen before. I recently went on a small expedition to the island and found out that the scavengers coexist with all sorts of types of wolves while also many other creatures that are hard to explain. The biggest thing I have found is the inventions the inhabitants have made. A major one that I found was a big hollow iron cast cylinder attached to wheels. The scavengers used that cylinder as a weapon of some kind for they shoved bags of this black powder substance along with a big ball or many small balls. They light something and the cylinder explodes inside sending the ball out in a direction they must have aimed. The boom is very loud and if not expecting it, frightening. I don't want to see what that thing can do to a dragon."

"So what you are saying," Kinkjou was placing the pieces together, "This island is armed?"

"In more ways than one. The Castle is guarded by scavengers in armor that would make Skywings jealous. The dragons are friends of the scavengers and wolves and even let them ride," Winter continued, "Some of the weapons are even designed to specifically combat us. If I may conclude, if they are as smart as I think they are, they will defend their home to the last soul. Moons, they could have a possibility of winning."

"Impossible!" Qibli shouted.

"No," Moon stated at Qibli, "Just like every other creature in this world, they deserve to have a say."

"But their scavengers Moon. For three moons' sake, they can't speak," Qilbi said sweetly to the female Nightwing.

"Actually, when I was there, I could actually understand them," Winter added.

The Jade Winglet just looked at him like he was nuts.

Norwich

Chase would arrive in the town with Spector.

"Brrr," Specktor stated, "It's cold."

"Yeah yeah. I'll get you indoors," Chase said as five Norwich guards came up.

"Welcome to Norwich, your majesty. What brings you here?" One of the guardsmen said. The other four guardsmen turned around to continue guarding.

"I thought I could stop by. My father thought it would be a good idea for me to be here for a bit," Chase explained, "Could you help Spector to the nearest open stable. It is a lot colder here than we expected."

"Of course your majesty," the guard said. He then snapped his fingers, "You two, take Spector to the sables and warm him up." They nod and escort Spector to the stables, "The rest of you, come with me."

"Yes sir," the final two responded.

The three Norwich guards escort Prince Chase around the town. It was cold, yes, but the sun was out. With that and the snow that was on the ground made the town very bright. There was the bakery just ahead of the prince and he could smell the bread being made as well as other treats.

"As you can see your majesty, Norwich is as calm as ever," the lead guardsmen said.

"I see that but my father wanted me to ask, how is the anti-hybrid problem going?" the prince asked.

The guard was flustered by the question but answered to the best of his abilities, "We have cracked down on the anti-hybrid problem, but they are starting to become a nuisance. I suggest that the hybrids move somewhere else for their own safety."

Chase was not pleased by this answer. His father did give him permission to give orders if necessary so…, "As Prince Chase of Valicka, I order to crack down on this anti-hybrid problem immediately with more force. They are allowed to voice their opinion but not harm anyone."

"Yes your majesty," the lead guardsmen responded. Right before they were to turn to the guards' barracks to pass on the order, a female husky-wolf hybrid ran straight past the guards and Chase. Three dogs that were an English Bulldog, a Belgium Melonwa, and an Akita were chasing the poor female husky-wolf hybrid.

"Get back here you abomination!" shouted the Akita as they ran past.

"Make do on that order. NOW!" Chase ordered the guards, "After them!"

The two other guards then dashed away after the three canines with Chase following suit, "Your majesty, I insist you stay," shouted the lead guard.

"Negative Captian, give your troops my order, and then you can join us," Chase shouted back and he ran off.

AN: Let me know how you think of this story. I changed it a bit so you guys can see the dragons' point of view.
