Aria looked at the God warily because she didn't exactly understand what he meant by that statement. What follows thunder and lightning? Lighting striking the jet interrupted her thoughts as the aircraft swayed before stabilizing. Expanding her senses, Aria's eyes widened slightly when a seventh aura was picked up just above her. She wasn't the only one alarmed of the group because Stark had gone to put his helmet on muttering something along the lines of checking what had made such noise. He walked forward and hit the button to open the platform just for a man to land on it.
He towered over Aria, his body seemingly made of just pure muscle, and his blonde hair reached his shoulders. His dull silver armor covered a black skin-tight shirt paired with a red cape clasped to his shoulders. Pushing energy to her eyes she saw his aura glimmered gold, a color she again was unfamiliar with. He looked human but not an ounce of gray was present which made her question what exactly this man was. Retreating the energy from her eyes, she moved slightly forward towards Loki and shifted energy to her hands. This man could be Loki's means of escape and that made him an enemy.
The man seemed to ignore them all and quickly made his way to grab Loki's neck. He muttered something intangible to the God and his arm rippled as he tightened his hold on his neck. Aria retreated her energy and backed off slightly, wondering who the hell this man was. She didn't feel as alarmed as she should've for this man was taking Loki but she couldn't help it. Seeing Loki getting choked as such amused her after the things the God had done to her. Lifting Loki easily, he spared them a glance before walking to jump out of the jet. Shocked, the trio just watched as the man took their prisoner andflewaway with Loki in his hand.
"Well isn't this lovely." Aria muttered with a sigh.
"Now there's that guy," Tony grunted as he began walking forward.
"Another Asgardian?" Natasha called out as she piloted the jet through the storm.
"Think he's a friendly?" Steve chimed in.
"Doesn't matter. If he frees Loki or kills him the Tesseracts lost," Stark said as he prepared to jump to follow the duo.
"Stark, I don't think it's wise just to go after them blindly" Aria spoke up as she neared where he was standing, "or alone. I'm coming with you."
"We should probably plan a way to handle this!" Steve tried reasoning. At this, Aria rolled her eyes thinking about how his plan earlier hadn't gone the way they had talked about at all. Being blasted through a building hadn't been a part of it or getting their prisoner taken wasn't on the agenda either but here they were.
"I have a plan. Attack." With that, Stark grabbed Aria's arm and jumped out to follow them.
The wind smacked Aria's face harshly, making her hair fly ungraciously about. Clenching her eyes closed, she began to expand her senses to look for the two signatures. Surprisingly they weren't as far as she had expected, maybe thirty meters from them if that.
"Stark!" she screamed over the slapping wind, "they don't seem to be too far in front of us, drop me off with Loki and you subdue the other guy. I'll go help you once I've secured Loki!"
With a nod he flew just above the trees towards where she felt their auras. Once they were only about five meters away Aria let go of Stark and flew to the ground, landing the same as before and in time to see Tony tackle the other man into the trees.
"Ah, the mysterious woman has come to my rescue," Loki jested.
Aria glared at the man but took notice of the shackles still secured to the man's wrists. So it wasn't an escape, but if not that then what?
I believe you should cast your energy out to this man, the voice beckoned. It was delightful to get a small taste of his scepter from its influence on his mind.
He's being controlled by his own weapon? With the voice cackling at the back of her mind, she stared at the smirking God. If he was indeed being controlled, then he wasn't just a mindless killer. He was a puppet. Aria knew that casting her energy to him again would cleanse his mind for her energy seemed to syphon whatever it was from him, but what prevented her from doing so was that the beast was possibly absorbing the power. For a moment she was silent, not knowing what to do just yet.
"Although I appreciate your company here..." Loki paused and turned his head to where the unknown man and Stark were fighting, "there seems to be quite an exciting brawl going on below us if you are to just stand there like a fool."
"Do you know what you're even trying to do?" She questioned as she stood up and walked towards him. "Is your mind fully yours to command?"
His eyes snapped back at her as anger swirled in his bright blue eyes, "How dare you assume I'm just a mere pawn in this war? I am born to be King!"
"King? I would say otherwise with what is clouding your mind right now," she spoke softly.
"What is clouding my mind is how Midgard has gone so long being slaves to what they call freedom" he hissed at her, "having one true ruler would free them all. As they are, these humans poison their young with crude imagery of a perfect world. They slaughter one another in swarms for what? This so-called peace they strive for, under my hand, they would achieve."
"Peace doesn't just have one definition," she sighed as a memory threatened to replay in her head of her mother and brother. She pushed it aside and looked at the God before her with sincerity, "your definition may bring peace to you, but bring misery to others. But I don't believe for one second that this definition is truly just yours."
"You assume me but know absolutely nothing mortal," his tone still angry.
"Yeah, you're right I don't know anything of you, but what I do know is you aren't in your own mind. Something is plaguing you and poisoning your rationale and quite possibly every other aspect of yours...I didn't want to do this for my own reservations but to get you to really see it then well, it's gotta happen."
She closed her eyes as she brought her palms up to face Loki. She pictured her energy as small tendrils expanding and knitting together as they reached out to wrap around Loki. Once a white light was seen behind her closed eyes, she opened them to see her white energy all around the God. She sent a bit of it to her eyes to see if the yellow around his mind was being sucked away, smirking to see it working as it did their first encounter. Loki's bright blue eyes were glaring at her before the blue subsided to a green as the yellow aura began to be sucked away.
"Now, tell me you don't feel any different now then just three minutes ago?" She said as she bit the inside of her cheek, straining at the amount of concentration and energy this required. She could feel sweat beginning to form on her forehead and wasn't sure how long she'd be able to keep this up.
With my aid, if you were willing to comply, we could drain him completely of this...marvelous energy child, the voice brought forth and Aria couldn't stop the shiver down her spine as its words were laced with hunger.
I just need to hold this long enough for answers you monster. She shot back at it. She didn't intend to let the beast devour the energy because she wasn't sure what exactly it was. Plus, the energy was flowing through her which caused her immense anxiety because what if what was controlling Loki could control her too as she absorbed it? If it didn't, then the theory that it was more the monster in her head taking it would be confirmed and that gave her an unpleasant feeling in her stomach.
"I...This white magic...I've never seen this before...you're not mortal, are you?" He questioned hesitantly, the anger that was built up seemingly vanished. "Are you Asgardian? If not, then perhaps from one of the other nine realms."
Grunting as the strain began taking a toll, Aria dropped to her knees but kept up with pushing and pulling the energy connecting them. The energy to her eyes retreated without her consent and she breathed out raggedly. He was deflecting her question but from his voice alone she gathered that what she was doing was working. The beast in her head began growling and... thrashing in her mind. It was trying to push its energy through her to help her continue this experiment but they both knew she had to accept the offer before the faucet would leak with its energy. There were other instances where that rule could be broken for some reason, but she decided not to dwell too much on their relationship and focused on her task at hand.
"I don't know..." she admitted as her hands began to shake, "But your anger...is gone...now see if what you want is...still there." Her voice came out hoarse and she hated seeming weak but cleansing him costed her a lot of everything.
He seemed to contemplate but voiced nothing. Unable to hold it any longer, Aria retreated her energy quickly. Once the white was gone, she had to catch herself from falling on her face with her hands. Breathing harshly, she looked up at the God and saw curiosity all over his eyes. Trying to regain her composure, she pushed herself up to lean her back against a rock formation protruding upwards from where they were at on the top of some mountain. She stared at Loki blankly while catching her breath, as well as wishing she could read people's minds.
"You now have me intrigued of you mortal, if that's what you even are," his voice soft spoken. "How did you accomplish a feat such as that?"
She looked at him as he stared at her, their eyes locking with one another. While his face conveyed nothing, his eyes were a whole different story. Her body still tired, she struggled slightly to shrug her shoulders at his question. She wasn't even sure herself. She just learned as she grew older, finding out new tricks as the needs arose for them. The voice in her head had used to help her when she was younger. Before her mother started to worry over her. Before her uncle had started testing. Before her life began on the journey to the bottoms of Hell.
Loki had sat down across from her and was silently staring at her, a weird glint in his eyes. She couldn't discern the emotions swirling in those green eyes of his and was slightly proud to see they hadn't reverted back to bright blue. After confirming her assumption of him being controlled, she now wasn't too sure to call him an enemy. He was being used by their true enemy whose identity was unknown. Sighing heavily, she closed her eyes and hummed a small tune her mom used to sing to her when she was a child.
"That song, from where have you heard it?" Loki questioned quickly.
"My mother." Aria replied coolly, continuing to hum the lullaby.
"That song was sung to me in my youth and has only been sung in Asgard."
"Well, I know my mom wasn't...what do you call yourself? Asgardian? She was human, or well mostly human I think..." Aria paused as she eyed Loki with suspicion, not knowing why exactly she felt so comfortable speaking with him about these things. Was it her connecting her energy to him that caused that comfort? "I have nothing more to say, so I suggest we sit here in silence waiting for them to come get us."
A smirk seemed to crawl on his face at her dismissive tone at his probing. He whistled along to the tune she hummed and they sat there together waiting. Aria's mind swirled with questions. Loki was asking the same questions she asked herself daily. She didn't know who she was, what she was, or why that voice was inside her head. Her mother never told her about her father or ever spoke about her own self. Aria hadn't even known her mother could manipulate energy until her last day of life. She knew the beast knew more the it let on, giving her riddled answers or not answering at all. And now as she hummed the song her mom used to sing her to sleep, Aria couldn't help the thoughts that swarmed her mind.
AUTHORS NOTE
SO we have a Loki moment and things get slightly personal hehehehe we'll be seeing more personal moments between them and also build Aria's relationship with the Avengers in chapters to come. The thing inside Aria is it's own entity just FYI if that's not clear. How its with her (more like stuck inside her and the reasons why shes even able to handle it) will be revealed in upcoming chaps as well. I'm excited to get to everything, the last few days I've just been thinking of the different ways I can write things out. I'm sorry if it seems short, I never know a good place to end I feel. But I hope it's enjoyable! PLEASE review so I know if you guys like it or not and like leave me something you're wishing to see or even be explained more or whatever your hearts desire. Guests too! I'm starting to work on the next chapter so hopefully I can get it out soon :)
BTW Aria is strong, but the energy connection spell she does takes up A LOT and that's why she struggled the second time since she did it twice in one night. I assumed that the fight in Germany and their moment on the mountain top was within hours of each other so yeah.
Just wondering, if anyone would be able to beta this story for me? English isn't my first language and I know there might be confusing parts so I'm so sorry if there is. But if you're down to beta don't hesitate to DM me! I'll probably take on two if that.
Thanks for the one person who followed the story! I appreciate you :))))))
See you in the next chap
