A blended family chapter 1: the interview

It has been about two week since I turned in my application for Haddock Industry and to my surprise I got an interview for today. I was so happy that I hugged my three kids and told them that I have a potentially new job. They were happy for me and they wished me luck.

So I had some time before my interview at noon so I showered, I also trimmed my beard to a respectful length, put on deodorant and cologne, and brushed my teeth. I also dressed in my best suit, a dark gray with a black shirt combing my hair back so it was slick back but made sure it had some sort of height to it, I also put on my families Ásatrú (1) pendent on it has been in our family since the dawn of the Viking era and to my surprise it's not that common in a town like Berk despite it being an old Viking village.

Now it's a heavily christen town and only a small proportion of its population still practice the old ways and there even few temples or sacred land for our religion (with the exception of our homes that is) and I am grateful for that because the rest of berk and the world really don't appreciate our religion and I have the scars to prove it during our family's Sigrblót(2) festival when we were attacked by a super conservatives Christians group sending Malta cocktails sending our property a blazed as they sent racial slurs at us mostly Heathens and Pagan dogs.

They were also shooting guns at us we were lucky to get out alive and thanks to our homes security system we got it all recorded some of our injuries were mostly burns but I was lucky or unlucky to say that I got hit with a bullet four times while trying to protect my family twice in the back and twice in the knee it was so bad of an injury I now have to walk with a cane now and all of this happen right before I got the call for my interview with Haddock Industry.

Also the people who attacked my family are in prison with hate crimes and attempted murder of both me and my family and I am just grateful that my three kids got out of situation unharmed.

grabbed my briefcase and a coffee and went to my car and drove over to Haddock Industry hoping that I would get the job so I can start the beginning of a new life for not only me but my family.

It was about 15 minutes later and I had arrived at Haddock Industry as I walk to the front desk and told the beautiful young lady at the desk that I had an interview for the personal assistant for the CEO possession and she lead me to her office for the interview and on the way up to her office she told me that the CEO was impress with my resume and she can't wait to meet me. She also told me to keep any snarky remarks and or commits to myself because she doesn't tolerate them.

Haddock industry CEO Office Hanna's POV

I was sitting in my office decorated with Ásatrú artifacts and other Norse items and some family picture toothless by my side sleeping in a big dog bed next to my desk, he rarely left my side most days and I can understand his reasons why I was a mess after Bjorn dumped me I was surprised that toothless didn't bit his hand off when he revealed that he was cheating on me and was going to marry another girl. And since then my life has been a whirlwind of emotions (and it's not just the pregnancy hormones), I had to move back home due to the fact that Bjorn sold our town home just a two day after he betray me and I just had a few days to move all of my things out and back home.

I was now close to 3 months pregnant but looked like and felt I was closer to 7 or 8 months though and it was starting to get hard to move around with my prosthetic leg, so most days I rely on my wheelchair to get around. I also found out that I am going to have Octuplets. Yeah it came to a shock for not just me but my family and it turns out I am going to have an even number of boys and girls four of each and I was already thinking of names for them but due to number of kids I am going to have I am a high risk pregnancy and have to go to the doctors every week or so to check the development of my kids and to make sure neither me or my kid are in any danger. And my expected due date was for Haustmánuður (3).

for once I am grateful for once that my parents home is so big and live on such a large property over 60 acres of land and what surprise me that they were building me my own home on the property so I can raise my kids in our own space but still be close to home if I needed any help, and for my home they are going to divide the property in half so we each get 30 acres of land more than enough for us to manage by ourselves and my home looks over a rather large lake and waterfall and its set back into the woods a bit more than my parents ( our home back on to a nature preserve that my mothers owns and runs). My home was completed by the time I was 2 months along.

I was going over potential applicants for my personal assistant and none of them really fit the bill for me. Most of them were just sleaze or just lazy and asked how much I would pay them and if they could take care of my "personal" needs.

But there was one that caught my eye Vincent Viggo Grimborn the second he qualification were spectacle help run his family business until a few months ago when it was sold to Blodvist Inc. and I knew that it was an illegal sale of their business because they tried and buy my family's business this past year when I took over from my father with and underhanded and illegal trick to try and get me to turn over ownership to him by saying in court that he had ownership over decision making and partnerships deals with in the company but thanks to my degree in law I was able to prove that he didn't and that he was trying to create an monopoly over all things so one one can challenge him and he would be able to rule over the world well the corporate world that is.

And I know this happened to his family's company and I felt bad for him and his family losing their dream that they fought so hard for and even if I don't hire him (though I probably will) I will help him get back his family's legacy and take down Blodvist Inc. once and for all. But now before he shows up today I have a moment to reflect on what has happened over the past few weeks.

Flashback a few weeks ago

It has been a few weeks since my ex had dumped me and left me pregnant and to be a single mother and it's hard to date someone while trying to run a company and finding someone who didn't mind being a stepfather to my kids and to top it off finding someone who is open minded about my religion Ásatrú or Norse paganism when the town is mostly Christian and only a few of the old family of Berk who can track their ancestry to the Vikings of Berk practice Ásatrú like for example my family the Haddock's, the Hofferson, the Jorgosons, the Halfdan, and the Grimborn, while their are other old families in Berk like the Thorstons and the Ingrmans just to name a few but they follow Christianity instead of Norse Paganism but that's not to say they don't follow some of the old traditions just manly the yule in the winter moths witch is Christmas for the Christians.

my office at and at home does reflect that though I did have to move back home with my parents just so they can help me through this pregnancy and help take care of my kid or kids because it was still to early to tell and in other news my family has completely blacklisted Bjorn for what he had done to me and it wasn't just my family who did this it was his family as well once we told them what had happen between us and they were shock that he had betrayed her trust like that and left her pregnant and to our shock they had removed him from their will so every thing will go to Eric and he was no longer the best man for my cousins wedding replaced by his best friend Arne Birger and their wedding was a mixed of Ásatrú and Sami and they plan on raising their kids in both of their religion so their kids don't miss out on both of their parents heritage.

also we found out that Astrid was having Octuplets as well but her mix is more girls but just by two though so she is having six girls and 2 boys and we couldn't be happier that our families were going to be big and that they will have a lot of cousins to play with once they get older that is. In other news, Astrid and Eric had to move to a bigger home to have room for them and their eight kids and it was nice it was close to me and my parents' home so our kids can grow up together like we did when we were younger.

Also my other cousins had found love Knud Hofferson had found a nice girl named Signe Trygve who was from a small town in Norway like Berk is but she and her family are from Flekkefjord Just a few miles outside of Berk but moved to Berk for work ironically at Haddock Industry. An added bonus is that she and her family also practice Norse Paganism.

Snotlout was dating a girl named Minden Madden and the came to a surprise to us because Snotlout is an egotistical jerk but Minden seems to mellow him out, and lastly my other cousin Bodil was dating a young girl name Tora Thurid witch took us by surprise but we couldn't be happier for her and we all support her and her relationship.

End of flashback

I was brought out of my thoughts when I heard a knock on my door as I say, "come in" I saw Signe Trygve brining in Vincent as I stand up behind my desk with some difficulty to greet them and shook their hands and Introduce myself as the CEO of this company and that I am conducting the interview so I can gage how will work for me. One of the things that caught my eye was his Ásatrú pendant he was wearing so I know that we won't clash with religious beliefs in the workplace and I will give him the days off for our cultures holidays to spend it with family without worrying about work.

As we continue with the interview I knew that he was the one for the possession and I told him that he had the job and he was shock that he got the job as he shook my hands and ask him if he has gotten a tour of the office yet and where he will work he had said no but he would like to an so we took a tour of the building with Toothless by our side though I had to use my wheelchair and I saw the look on his face but he didn't want to ask the question that was hidden behind his eyes, and I told him that I was an double amputee and the only reason I was relying on my wheelchair was I was pregnant with Octuplets and it was getting harder to move with my prosthetic leg and this is one of the reasons that I was looking for a personally assistant to help me run the company while I was on maternity leave.

Haddock Industry Hanna Haddocks office Vincent POV

As I entered her office one of the first thing I notes was the décor of her office it was comforting to know that she won't judge me for my religion beliefs, the next thing I saw was her rather large dog sleeping next her in a big dog bed and it looks like my dog back home my sweet girl back home. I also notes a wheelchair close to her desk wondering why she needed it but I thought back to a news story that was big news that when she was younger she was attacked by a bear and was badly wounded from that attack as in she had to have two of her limbs amputated.

As she stood up, I got a better look at her and it was safe to say she was more beautiful than her picture on the company's website and I also noted that she supporting herself on her desk and that she look like she was going to pop, but I didn't want to ask that question to her.

As the interview continue I felt that I had secured the job and I was right and I did get the Job and she asked me if I have gotten a tour of the felicity yet and I said no and she offer me a tour of the building as she was explaining everything she stopped and turn to me and she explain to me what I was thinking and that surprise me she told me that she was an double amputee witch I already know but what surprise me that she was three months pregnant with octuplets and this surprised me that she was still working at three months pregnant and this was one of the reason why she needed a personal assistant besides the fact to help her run the company more smoothly also she told me that not only she had a degree in business but also law and she is a board certified lawyer for Berk and that she would help to try to get my families company back to us from Blodvist Inc.

I also found out that they had to try and buy her family company from them and she was able to prove that he tried to buy her company illegally buy it from her and her family and she would do the same for me she just need the documents form the alleged sale of the company and she will have her other layer and cop friends look in to this manner but its going to take some time to get all the information and prove that it was an illegal acquisition of a business. I was thankful for her for doing this for me and my family and I was more than willing to wait and help her in any way possible. She also told me that I will have all Ásatrú holidays off to spend time with my family and if I wanted me and my could join her families celebration of those holidays and I was thankful that and I agree to that but I have to ask my family about this offer but they would probably be more than happy to accept the offer as the tour ended and we parted ways I felt that this was the start of something wonderful not just for me and my family but something between me and Hanna but I don't know what that something is, but all I know is its going to be something that we will never forget and will be something life change as well.

(1) Ásatrú- or Norse Paganism the religion of the Norse Vikings

(2) Sigrblót Festival- the first day of Harpa ((mid-April to mid-May): the first month of the year, probably named after a forgotten goddess or mythical creature). A day to celebrate the beginning of Summer and the victory of light over darkness. Offerings to Freya were made during this festival.

(3) Haustmánuður-(mid-September to mid-October): the Autumn month and time to harvest and get ready for the hard winter months ahead.
