I accidentally vaporize my pre-algebra teacher

"You do what?" Annabeth asks

Percy blushes, "It wasn't on purpose,"

Look, I didn't want to be a half-blood.

"I don't think any of us did," Nico mutters.

Percy raises an eyebrow at him, "Oh is that right? I seem to recall you being very excited to be one,"

Grover and Thalia sniggers as Nico glares at him, red-faced.

If you're reading...a normal life.

"Doesn't work as well as you'd think it would," Katie says

"Yeah, we tried that with you," Grover points out to Percy, "That definitely didn't work,"

"That was hardly my fault," He snorts, "You're a terrible liar,"

Being a half-blood is dangerous.

"Check," Leo mutters

It's scary.

"Double check," agrees Percy

Most of the time, it gets you killed in painful, nasty ways.

"And triple check," says Thalia

The Gods exchange glances. There was no way it was as bad as they made it out to be...was there?

If you're a... this ever happened.

"We all do," grumbles Nico.

But if you recognize...didn't warn you.

"You didn't warn me," Nico points out

Percy rolls his eyes, "Hardly my fault. I didn't exactly get the chance to,"

My name is Percy... troubled kid?

Everyone but the Gods snorted, nodding or muttering some form of agreement.

"Gee, thanks," Percy mutters sarcastically

Yeah. You could say that.

"Least you admit it," Thalia nods. Percy sighs, opting to ignore her.

I could start... mental-case kids

"Hey, Perce," Travis grins, "You fit right in,"

"I think we all do," Katie points out

"...yeah, that's fair,"

and two teachers...and Roman stuff.

Athena and her daughters lean forward in her throne, resting her chin on her hand in interest.

I know - it sounds like torture.

Athena scoffs as the Annabeth's roll their eyes - Annabeth doing so fondly.

"It does." Travis Stoll agrees, all too quickly. Connor nods his head vigorously as the wisdom goddess narrows her eyes at them.

Most Yancy field ...smelled like coffee.

"He sounds familiar." Leo frowns.

Grover and Percy exchange grins, "You'll find out who he is soon."

You wouldn't think... me to sleep.

Grover sniggers, being the only one there to see it happen, and Percy shoots him a grin.

"Really, Seaweed Brain?" Annabeth asks. Percy shrugs unapologetically as Athena narrows her eyes.

I hoped the. . . get in trouble.

"Wait, we're talking about Prissy here, right?" Clarisse asks

Percy rolls his eyes, "Yes, Clarisse."

"Well then, I don't know why you would even try." Percy gapes at her indignantly as everyone laughs.

Boy, was I wrong.

That just made them laugh harder.

See, bad things. . . got expelled anyway.

"I- what?" Annabeth asks, incredulously, "How do you even. . . ?"

"Talent," Grover mumbles, sarcastically.

"Hey, it wasn't my fault!" Percy defends, weakly, "They shouldn't have had it loaded in the first place."

"You shouldn't have messed with it in the first place!" Annabeth grumbles back. Percy goes red over the stifled laughter around him.

And before that... an unplanned swim.

Percy mutters something about stupid fish as Apollo grins, "Uncle P, your kid is awesome."

"It wasn't on purpose!" He protests, again, causing them to laugh harder.

And the time before that... Well, you get the idea. This trip, I was determined to be good.

Percy's friends snort as Apollo and Hermes beg for more stories.

"Maybe later." He says, warily.

All the way...butter-and-ketchup sandwich.

"That's disgusting," Silena says, wrinkling her nose.

Grover was an... in his legs.

"Thank you for that oh-so-lovely description," Grover says, sarcastically.

Percy grins, patting him on the shoulder, "Anytime, G-man."

He walked funny...day in the cafeteria.

Grover turns red as his friends snicker and sigh in exasperation.

"Really, Grover?" Annabeth asks, raising an eyebrow.

"They were good." He mumbles.

Anyway, Nancy Bobofit ...I like peanut butter."

"In your hair?" Silena asks

Grover blushes harder, "No, not particularly."

He dodged another... then and there.

Artemis raises an eyebrow but doesn't say anything, yet.

In-school suspension... get myself into.

"Ooh, fun." Will mutters

Mr. Brunner led... three thousand years.

"Longer." Annabeth murmurs

He gathered us... kind of interesting

Annabeth raises an eyebrow at Percy who shrugs, "It's not all boring."

She rolls her eyes and he grins at her, bumping her shoulder.

but everybody around...fifty years old.

Aphrodite shook her head, "Honestly, the nerve of some people."

She looked mean...a nervous breakdown.

"Yeah," Percy whispers to Grover, "I think I would've had one, too."

Grover shudders, nodding in agreement.

From her first day, Mrs. Dodds loved Nancy Bobofit and figured I was devil spawn.

Thalia snickers, and nudges Nico, "No, that's goth boy here," He glares at her as Percy nods fervently.

She would point...for a month.

Leo lets out a low whistle, "That's harsh."

"Yeah," Percy agrees, "Try being there,"

One time, after she'd made me erase answers out of old math workbooks until midnight,

"Dama del diablo," Leo mutters, causing Percy to laugh.

I told Grover I didn't think Mrs. Dodds was human. He looked at me, real serious, and said, "You're absolutely right."

"You're not so good at this lying thing, are you?" Hermes asks, rhetorically.

"Don't worry, it only gets worse," Percy laughs as Grover blushes.

Mr. Brunner kept... meant it to.

"Of course it did," Rachel teases.

The whole group...his kids, right?"

"It's always that one," Demeter complains, with her siblings nodding in agreement.

"Yes," Mr. Brunner... king god, and-"

"God?" Persephone asks.

Percy blushes, "He corrects me."

"God?" Mr. Brunner. . . to eat instead.

". . . Is it easy to confuse a God with a rock?" Chris asks

"No, Zeus just has the looks of one," Hades says

"The brains, too." Poseidon agrees as Zeus splutters at them both.

And later, when... girls behind me.

"Yes, try living it," Hera says, mildly.

"-and so there. . . the gods won."

". . . 'a big fight'? Percy, that was years."

He shrugs, noncommittally, "I'm a talented person."

Some snickers from the group

"Mortals are so weird," Katie says.

Rachel merely snorts in response.

Behind me, Nancy... in real life?"

"That's a good point," Thalia says.

"Yeah, see Thalia gets it. That's why you don't pay attention in school." Percy nods.

Annabeth stares at him for a minute before shaking her head, "I will never understand you."

"Join the club," Pipermurmurs.

"Busted," Grover muttered. . . had radar ears.

"Or horse ears." Connor points out.

"Ruins so many pranks." Travis whines.

I thought about. . . us back outside?"

"Cheery thought?" Thalia asks.

"I mean, I guess there's always worse ones." Annabeth shrugs.

The class drifted. . . acting like doo-fuses.

"As usual," Thalia says.

"Oh, right, like you're any better." Percy raises an eyebrow. She grins at him in response.

Grover and I. . . had seen everything.

"Not quite." Hermes mutters

"Seriously, why does this guy sound so familiar?" Leo asks

"You must learn. . . me so hard.

"It was for the best." Annabeth says

"Yeah, I know that now."

I mean, sure. . . god they worshipped.

"Cool,"

But Mr. Brunner. . . in my life.

"Yikes. Felt that," Leo says. Some of the other demigods nod in agreement.

No - he didn't. . . them correctly.

"That's rough, buddy."

I mumbled something. . . this girl's funeral.

"Probably was," Beckendorf says.

He told me. . . over the city.

"Somebodies angry," Apollo sings

"When is he not?" Hera grumbles

I figured. . . hurricane blowing in.

"Dang." Hermes whistles, "What's got you two so uptight."

Nobody else seemed. . . with Lunchables crackers.

Artemis snorts at the unsurprising display of the boys.

Nancy Bobofit was trying to pickpocket something from a lady's purse

"Not mine." Hermes says at the looks he was getting, "She wouldn't be trying if she was."

and, of course. . . make it elsewhere.

"Nah, they'd probably notice. You two look just like them." Annabeth says.

"Hey!" Protests Grover and Percy.

"Kidding." She grins.

"Detention?" Grover asked. . .not a genius."

"You can say that again." Thalia snorts. Percy sticks his tongue out at her.

Grover didn't say. . . have your apple?"

"That's what friends are for." Rachel giggles over everyone else's laughter.

I didn't have much of an appetite, so I let him take it.

"Surprising, coming from you," Piper says.

I watched the. . . and head home.

"Mama's boy," Ares mutters

"Yup, sure am." Percy grins

"And you would be too if you met Sally." Travis agrees.

She'd hug me. . . kicked out again.

"That's. . . a lot of schools," Frank says.

"Uh-huh. It gets worse."

"Of course it does."

I wouldn't be. . . motorized cafe table.

"Cool." Leo breathes, exchanging grins with Beckendorf.

I was about. . . in Grover's lap.

"Rude." Silena frowns.

"Oops." She grinned. . . with liquid Cheetos.

"Dude, your thoughts? So weird. Also, thanks for ruining Cheetos for me." Grover says, looking at Percy sideways. He shrugs.

I tried to. . . of your temper."

"That shit never works," Travis says, shaking his head.

But I was so. . . "Percy pushed me!"

Poseidon smirked.

Mrs. Dodds materialized next to us.

"I hope that was a figure of speech." Annabeth mutters.

Some of the. . . in trouble again.

Percy sighs.

As soon as. . . for all semester.

"Uh - oh." Will says

"Now, honey-" "I know," I grumbled. "A month erasing workbooks."

"Never guess your punishment." Chris says, "It's rule number two."

"There's a rule book?" Hazel asks.

"Obviously." Travis nods.

That wasn't the right thing to say.

"You don't say." Hermes snorts.

"Come with me,". . . Grover to death.

"For good reason." Percy shivers.

She glared at. . . "Thanks for trying."

"Yeah, lotta good it did," Grover mutters

"Wouldn't have been able to do anything anywhere." Percy points out, "Besides, nothing happened."

"Honey," Mrs. Dodds. . . there so fast?

"I have a bad feeling about this." Silena murmurs

I have moments . . . brain misinterpreting things.

"I'm not so sure," Annabeth says.

I wasn't so sure.

"Heh."

I went after . . . in his novel.

That did nothing to reassure the already-nervous demigods. Obviously, they knew he would be fine, but, at this point, he had no training and no backup. It wasn't looking good.

I looked back. . . wasn't the plan.

"No, really?"

I followed her . . . gallery was empty.

"Uh - oh," says Apollo.

Mrs. Dodds stood . . . throat, like growling.

"Okay, she's obviously not human, right?" Piper asks, tensley. Nobody says anything.

Even without the . . . said, "Yes, ma'am."

"You did the safe thing?" Thalia laughs, "That's surprising." Percy makes a face at her.

She tugged on . . . away with it?"

"Get away with what?" Poseidon asks

The look in . . . to hurt me.

"Yeah. Right." Annabeth mutters.

I said, "I'll-I'll try harder, ma'am." Thunder shook the building.

Poseidon eyes his brother, warily, wondering if he had something to do with this.

"We are not . . . suffer less pain."

"Confess to what?" Reyna asks.

I didn't know what she was talking about.

"Join the club," says Rachel.

All I could . . . read the book.

Annabeth snorts as her younger self rolls her eyes.

"Sounds about right," Travis says as Connor nods in agreement.

"Well?" she demanded.. . . me to ribbons.

"A fury?! You sent a fury after my son?!" Poseidon asks.

Hades' eyes widen, "I'm sure there's an explanation for it. I mean, you know I wouldn't do it unless I had a reason. . . a big reason."

"Father, it's okay. I'm fine. Plus, Lord Hades is right, there is a reason, and it's told later in the book."

Then things got . . . through the air.

Recognizing Riptide, Poseidon exhaled out of relief, glad his son would be able to defend himself.

Mrs. Dodds lunged at me.

There was a collective inhale throughout the room.

With a yelp. . . used on tournament day.

"Riptide." Percy grins, pulling out said sword.

"That thing is still so cool," Leo says.

Mrs. Dodds spun . . . flew straight at me.

Another sharp intake of breath.

Absolute terror ran . . . swung the sword.

"Naturally?" Reyna asks, skeptically. Percy shrugs.

The metal blade ... of water. Hisss!

"Woah," Leo breathes.

"That's crazy. You did that with no training?" Annabeth asks.

Percy nods, "It was just a heat-of-the-moment thing, though." Zeus, being his every-so-paranoid self, eyes Percy warily, silently promising to keep an eye on him.

Mrs. Dodds was . . . still watching me.

The demigods shivered - they'd all felt that before.

I was alone... or something.

"Katie," the Stoll's eyes widen, "can you grow -"

"No."

"But -"

"No."

Had I imagined. . . whipped your butt."

"Who?"

"The mist," Hazel says

"Ohh."

I said, "Who?". . . he was messing with me.

"Satyrs. Terrible at lying," Dionysus says, lazily turning a page of his magazine.

"I didn't know he was listening," Percy whispers.

"Not funny, man,". . . Thunder boomed overhead.

"Dramatic much?" Poseidon asks, but something about the situation left him uneasy. Why would Hades send a fury after his son?

I saw Mr. Brunner. . . feeling all right?"

"See, Grover? Now, that's how you lie." Hermes says.

Grover turns red, "Okay. I get it, I'm bad at lying."

Percy snickers as Annabeth shakes her head at him, "That was insane."

"Yeah, let's just hope it doesn't happen again." Percy snorts.

Annabeth nods quickly in agreement, taking the book from Katie's offered hand.
