I know that the beginning of this chapter is a little harsh, just like the first two, but at least I'm finally being nicer to Tai and Davis as the chapter goes along. I'm sorry for the cruelty from my first two chapters, but I had to give the first two that level of mean in order to build the comfort that will come with these next three or four.

disclamation: I do not own the 'Digimon' anime in any way, shape, or form. Once again, I don't actually know to whom the credit for the anime belongs. one thing that I know for sure about the anime is that the rights of ownership in the show certainly don't belong to me.

Once Davis had ended the flashback of everything which happened during his own awful, miserable Valentine's Day, Tai became painfully aware of something that was all his fault and that he should have set a much better example for Davis on.

Taichi 'Tai' Yagami/Kamiya: Wow, since you tried to pursue my sister as a reflection of my own pursuit of Sora, I guess that by holding onto that part of me, I suddenly feel like I wasn't really setting the world's best example for you, now was I, Davis?

Daisuke 'Davis' Motomiya: It wasn't your fault that Sora chose Matt instead of you. I think she just wanted someone who thought of her feelings more than his own, and could actually tell when the differences between when they were just joking around and when they were actually being serious.

It was harsh, but there was quite a bit of truth to that statement.

Taichi 'Tai' Yagami/Kamiya: And, I guess that Kari wanted someone who could actually be cool when she needed her guy to be cool, and who could be cool about the things she needed her guy to be cool about.

Tai's comeback was equally as harsh, but there was no denying it resembled the truth, too.

With that, Tai and Davis just walked to their apartment buildings alone. The Motomiya Family's apartment building was the neighboring building to the Yagami/Kamiya Family's apartment building from just across the way. Just then, someone came out from the Yagami/Kamiya Family's apartment building. It turned out to be two someones, actually. Both of which were two girls with darkest hair of raven and semi-brown, almost darkly-colored, yet magenta eyes.

One of the female individuals wore familiar-looking red glasses. It was almost impossible for it to be Meiko Mochizuki, but it looked a lot like her. Tai's newest female friend from Totori who had moved back over there just a month before the prior Christmas also seemed to have a younger girl tagging along with her from the Motomiya family's apartment building.

The younger girl with Meiko seemed to have better vision than the long, raven-haired girl did, at least considering that she did not wear glasses like Meiko needed to. She did, however, have the same color of black hair as Meiko, except hers seemed to resemble a shoulder-length bob-cut. She seemed just as shy as Meiko, herself, first was when she first came to Tokyo and met Tai and the other digidestined. Only difference was that this younger girl seemed to be a natural born Tokyo local, judging by her school uniform, that was.

Meiko Mochizuki: It's alright, Mariko. You can come out to meet them. It's not like they're gonna bite your head off as soon as you come out.

Meiko then turned to her old crush and his younger friend, rubbing the back of her hair with her left hand.

Meiko Mochizuki: I'm sorry about my cousin. She's always been a bit shy when meeting new people.

Of course, Davis had to open up his own big mouth.

Daisuke 'Davis' Motomiya: But, that girl's not really new to me. Kari, T.K. and I are even in the same class with her at school. I admit that I was always pretty sure that her name was Mary, though.

Mariko 'Mary' Kanatamiki: M-Mary is just a nickname that I choose to go by to keep things simple with the senseis. M-My full name is Mariko Kanatamiki.

It was then that Tai noticed Meiko and Mary had both hidden something or other behind their backs.

Taichi 'Tai' Yagami/Kamiya: What do you two got there?

Meiko knew just what Tai was talking about. She actually thought that it was hidden better than it seemed to be. She just blushed while wearing a coy grin on her face, though.

Meiko Mochizuki: What are you talking about, Tai? I don't have anything with me.

Meiko's cousin, Mary, seemed to feel like giggling about this, however.

Meiko Mochizuki: But, my cousin, Mary, might just have something for Davis.

Mariko 'Mary' Kanatamiki: What? Wait a minute! Don't you drag me into this just because you're as nervous as I am, Cousin Meiko!

Mary suddenly seemed a little more bolder now, and it was enough to draw Davis to her.

Daisuke 'Davis' Motomiya: Well, come on, then. I'm dying to see what you have for me, Mary.

Suddenly upon hearing him, Mary was so flattered that Davis already considered her to be a close enough friend to call her by her nickname, she blushed up a perfect storm of red. Mary's whole entire face was as red as a fully ripened cherry.

Mariko 'Mary' Kanatamiki: Yeah, Davis, I got something for you alright. I just don't know if it's already too late in the day to give to you, though.

Daisuke 'Davis' Motomiya: Whatever it is, I'll accept it no matter what time of day it is.

Meanwhile, Tai and Meiko's joint encounter seemed to have taken a turn for the awkward before it could take a turn for the acceptably comfortable.

Taichi 'Tai' Yagami/Kamiya: I don't get it, though, Meiko. You're not even supposed to be in Tokyo, anymore, are you? I thought you moved back to Totori after_

Tai was about to bring up what happened with themselves and the other digidestined several months prior. He caught himself, however, when he saw that it was clearly too painful for Meiko to remember once her eyes began to water.

Taichi 'Tai' Yagami/Kamiya: Uh, you know.

Meiko Mochizuki: No, it's OK. You can remind me about how Meicoomon turned into the final villain that Omnimon had to fight off and destroy. I'm just glad that at least Gatomon could be saved from their merged form of Ordinemon. Meicoomon seemed to think that it was for the betterment of both worlds that she was destroyed, anyway.

Meiko let the tears flow freely as she simply reminded herself for Tai about how her own partner digimon had to be destroyed after the fighting was all over and peace was finally restored. Tai just wrapped her in his arms in response from behind her back before Meiko could even acknowledge what he was doing.

Taichi 'Tai' Yagami/Kamiya: It's OK that you didn't wanna be reminded of your digi-partner's death, Meiko. I would've understood if you couldn't handle hearing about it after all this time. You gotta learn how to be considerate of your own feelings, and not just the feelings of other people. It's OK to be selfish when you need to.

After hearing Tai's words, Meiko suddenly blushed up a storm of red and then handed him a box of some kind.

Meiko Mochizuki: These are for you, Tai!

Tai suddenly saw Meiko's box and hoped her giftbox for him held what he thought it held upon seeing just how decorative it was. He decided to ask his newest friend from Totori just to make sure, though.

Taichi 'Tai' Yagami/Kamiya: What's in the box, Meiko?

Meiko Mochizuki: It's nothing, just some Valentine's chocolates I made especially just for you in celebration of Valentine's Day. This box was the whole reason I came back to Tokyo to begin with. I'm also moving back to Tokyo until I'm done with high school, which was the reason I was with my cousin, Mary. I'm living at her place until I graduate from high school.

Taichi 'Tai' Yagami/Kamiya: I knew it. So, your cousin lives in my apartment building then?

Meiko Mochizuki: Uh-uh. Cousin Mary and her family live just a few stories upwards from the Motomiyas' family apartment. I believe your friend, Davis, already made it clear that she goes to his same school. I'll also be transferring back over to Kazamura High.

A/N: I can easily admit that I don't actually know the names of any of the digidestineds' schools, but I am doing the best I can at this point. Work with me, people.

Tai, of course, was even happier to hear that Meiko was also transferring back to the same high school as himself, Matt, Sora, Izzy and Mimi. They would all get a kick out of this. Not only was Tai the first one of them all to hear this news, but he also got valentine's chocolates from Meiko, too.

Taichi 'Tai' Yagami/Kamiya: You don't know just how happy you've made me to get both the chocolates and the good news from you, Meiko.

Tai just could not stop grinning ear to ear. Meiko was so happy that Tai had wholeheartedly accepted her valentine's chocolates.
