A/N: This was supposed to be out a week ago, but I got stuck on what to write. Also I will be trying a new format to my writing. Any tidbits of information will be annotated like so (#) and be placed at the bottom.

(#): like this.

Secondly this is now my most popular story in terms for favorites and followers, so yeah. Thank you.

Also I plan of getting a second story out that is MHA but mostly OC-centric. It's still being written and it's going to be a wild one once it drops. But that's for later.

Also one last thing before we start, I may have to change the time period of when this story takes place. The Sludge Incident is way too far before the rest of the story takes place (aka ten month training montage). I'm moving the date to around the Entrance Exam, like a little before that event takes place.

Now let's get on with the show!

'BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!'

The alarm clock Engineer set went off exactly at 5:30 A.M. A hand slapped around the nightstand it was sitting on before landing on the clock, silencing the noise maker. The two mercs grudgingly got up, even though the sun did not even peak over the horizon yet.

Engineer poured himself a cup of coffee while Heavy polished Sasha just to pass the time. Judging from the morning newspaper (which had to be translated and reprinted in English), it appeared that the mall incident was mostly forgotten. Given how society worked here, things like this happened naturally and were soon ignored and then forgotten by the population.

It was soon time to head off to U.A and the two opted to walk to the high school. Mainly due to the reason that they stole the golf cart from the mall and didn't want to get spotted with it.

After getting to the school and passing through security, the two headed down to the custodial room and changed into their janitorial clothes.

The head custodian was an older gentleman with a greying beard and bushy eyebrows. Like them, he too was Quirkless, but didn't really mind about that. He was elated once he learned he had some help and was more than happy to show the two mercs the tools of the trade.

The mood was awkward at times due to the language barrier, but the man was able to convey his thoughts through actions. Eventually, the two were taught the things they needed to do to be a proper janitor, and then the old man went on his merry way to do something else. This left the Texan, Russian, and their little janitorial cart by themselves.

"Nice old man, am ah right Heavy?"

"Da, though Heavy could not understand little man half of time."

"Ah don't worry about it. Ah'm planning on making some translation devices later on so we could understand what our employers are saying."

"Good idea Engineer."

The duo's day went pretty uneventful after that. It mainly was mopping floors, cleaning desks, taking out trash, etc. They were given some looks by the staff, but more often than not, they were ignored. There weren't any students at the time in the school yet since it was still summer, so they didn't have to deal with the influx of teenagers.

Throughout the day, they noticed they were being watched by certain teachers. Sometimes it was that homeless guy they met with the principal, another was the dominatrix, and another was something they could only describe as a golem. They were trying to be subtle, but it wasn't working. The two mercs senses were honed after working with a person that sneaks around for a living, so they could tell if they were being watched or not.

And to be honest, it is kinda hard to work when someone is actively glaring at you.

Eventually, the day came to an end and the two were able to clock out. They retrieved their belongings from their lockers and changed back into their civilian clothes. As they left the custodian room, they were greeted by a certain principal.

"Hello gentlemen!" Nezu greeted in a very positive tone. "I do take that your first day at U.A went well?"

"Of course, sir," Engineer answered. "Physically demanding, but it's nothing new to us."

"I see, have you run into any problems?"

Engineer and Heavy looked at each other, with the latter shrugging. "Ah, well...we've kinda noticed the staff have been a bit too...observant of us when were working. It's a bit...unnerving to say the least."

"Ah yes, the teachers, if you didn't know, are retired Pro Heroes. If anything, they're a bit...weary of newcomers," he explained. "I would give them a couple of days so they can adjust."

"Ah can see where yah coming from. At the end of the day it's a school, Quirks or not."

"Exactly Mr. Conagher, we always ensure student safety is our number one priority."

From there they said their goodbyes and left in their respective ways. The duo headed back to their apartment, eager to end the day and to avoid any more trouble along the way.

Now we rewind time a bit...in a different era

Tuefort, New Mexico 1974

The rest of RED piled into the garage, a bit too late, as the malfunctioning Teleporter exploded, sending the pieces flying everywhere. Luckily, none of it hit the remaining mercs.

"Oh zhis is not good!" Medic cried out.

"What the bloody hell just happened?!"

"We're under attack again! Take cover, maggots!"

After a brief moment of pandemonium, order was restored by a couple of Revolver shots from the Spy. He holstered his Revolver before speaking, "Is everyone finished yelling their heads off?" he looked around. "Good, now doctor, what exactly happened here?"

The German quickly explained on how the Teleporter Engineer was working on suddenly when haywire, pulling their teammates into its vortex and taking them to who knows where.

"This is quite the problem," Spy said, taking a puff from his cigarette. "Not only are we missing two of our fellow teammates, but the one that can fix it is missing as well."

"So what are we going to do?" Scout asked. "None of us know how four eyes' machines work, how we supposed to get it working again?"

"Are you sure they didn't die?" Demoman asked. "Respawn could just bring them back."

"Nein, zhey would've been back already if zhey have died. Zhat means zhey are still alive...somevhere...or..."

"Or...?"

"Zhey are out of its range..."

A silence was deafening as Medic uttered those words.

Spy turned to Medic and broke the silence. "Do you think you can figure out of Engineer's buildings work?"

"I do not know, my expertise is in medicine, not vhatever Engineer does," Medic said. "I can see if he keeps a notebook around or somezhing."

Spy sighed as he looked out to the horizon. "If that's the case, I suggest we should seek out another particular Texan that has Engineer's knowledge."

"Are you sure we can trust him?" Sniper asked.

Spy glanced at Sniper before replying, "If he was willing to betray his own team to help us, yes," he took another puff. "We must find Eugene Conagher, the Engineer's father and the previous Engineer."

Now back to our two mercs...

The days quickly passed by and eventually the school reopened for students to come back, both new and returning. The increased volume of people on campus made their work a bit more hectic, but it was still manageable.

"Now would you look at that," Engineer said as he replaced a trash bag. "A lot of these kids are gonna become the next generation of heroes."

"Da, little babies have big dreams. But Heavy is surprised that babies like going to school."

"Ya, that's something yah don't see back home."

"Heavy remembers educating sisters back home in mountains of Siberia. Zhanna particularly did not like math."

"Hmm, well it is kinda of a pain at times. Say, how is she and Soldier doing?"

The air suddenly got dense as Heavy slowly turned to the Texan, a shadow casted over his face.

"We do not talk about that Engineer," he said as he leaned towards the smaller man so he loomed over him. "No more."

'MENACING'

"Understood, partner."

After emptying the cart's contents into a dumpster, the two were given a extra break for their hard work and diligence. They decided to spend their break under the shade of a couple of trees.

"So did Engineer find way back home?" Heavy asked as he pulled a Sandvitch from his pockets.

"Short answer: no," Engineer replied. "It's harder than it looks."

"For starters, it's a miracle that we're still alive. There was a huge possibility that we could've been scrambled on a molecular level to a point where even the Respawn could not even revive us," he continued. "Secondly, if I could get the Teleporter to do that again, there's a little to no chance it would take us back to our own correct time and that's assuming we survive that jump as well."

"That mean no easy way to get home."

"Yup, and even though there have been some technological advancements in this world, there's no sign that Australium existed at any point. Which means we can't go to Australia for any technological help."

"Hmm..."

As the two pondered their next move, they decided to distract themselves by watching a class of kids do some kind of physical assessment test or something, which was proctored by that hobo guy.

"Are babies supposed to be at school meeting?" Heavy asked, mentioned the all school assembly that they heard about earlier.

"Maybe they got excused or something," Engineer responded with a shrug.

"Um, Sensei, who are those two men looking at us?" a certain timid, greenette asked.

Shouta lazily looked up from his tablet and to where a certain soon-to-be problem child pointed.

"Oh...it's them..."

As Shouta looked over, he got a couple of waves from the new janitors. He and the other teachers were given a stern lecture by their boss after the two complained they were being spied on. Shouta couldn't help but feel that something was off about the two, but he couldn't put his finger on. This was something shared by most of the other teachers.

"They're part of the custodial staff, just ignore them and continue with your softball throw." he said with a sigh.

"Nice guy, isn't he?" Engineer said.

"Da, very nice."

Engineer's watch beeped, signaling the end of their break. "Alright, back to work. Ah just hope no one clogged a toilet again, still don't know how someone can use that much toilet paper and not flush."

Just then, their radios came alive with chatter. Engineer picked it up and answered it. "Yeah, you've got something for us sir?"

"Um, yes, do you boys mind coming down to the hallway near the Support Labs? One of the student's inventions went off there and it's quite a mess."

Engineer sighed. "Be there in five." he answered before putting the radio away. "Hopefully it's not sticky like last time."

The said mess was supposed to be an explosive device that covered the target(s) in a sticky-like substance that effectively immobilized the target(s) until they could be apprehended. Unfortunately, that device was made by a certain eccentric pink-haired girl who's inventions tended to malfunction most of the time.

Several barrels of industrial strength cleaning fluid was needed to make the area traversable and it still felt sticky after they were done.

Engineer's radio suddenly came to life again. "Hey, could you two get Cementoss over here? I think it was an acid bomb or something. It's eating away the entire hallway."

The two looked at each other before internally sighing. Today was one of those days.

A/N: This is shorter than I wanted to but I ran out of ideas. For those of you wondering why there is not much action scenes, is because the two are sneaky bois. They're undercover for the most part. But that will be fixed in the future. (Cough, cough, USJ, cough, cough I-island)

Anyways, that's that.
