Chapter 2

Percy walked throughout the hallways of Yancy with a long stride. He had finally made it through the school day, and he would be able to relax on the field trip with Mr. Brunner. The only thing that worried him was the fact that Mrs. Dodds would be there, but he didn't think about it too hard.

After a minute of walking, the schools front entrance came into view, and Percy noticed Grover waiting for him patiently. He was confused on seeing the boy, but didn't pay it any attention.

Right before Grover noticed him, he felt himself get grabbed by his hand and get yanked into an empty classroom.

Percy's head whipped up with wild eyes, wondering who dared grab him like that. He was seconds away from doing something irrational when he noticed that the one who had grabbed him was a girl, making his gaze soften a bit.

He immediately went back on guard however when he saw the sky expression on the girls face.

"You must be Percy Jackson." She said sweetly. "It's so great to finally meet you!" The girl gave the boy a long and slow once over, and Percy noticed her eyes light up once she was done.

However, he kept a level head, and unlike most boys who would've been flustered at this point, he replied with no interest.

"Who are you?"

The girl looked like she had been shot. It seemed like she wanted to say something back, but she quickly composed herself.

"Erm, well, my name is Drew Tanaka. I'm a friend of your brothers. He was telling me all about you, so I decided to come see you for myself, and I must say, I'm impressed." She said, but Percy was already walking away.

Yet again, Drew was completely caught off guard. "W-Wait! Where are you goin?" She asked.

"I have a trip to go on." He replied without slowing down.

Drew huffed. It was obvious that the boy wasn't going to be easy, but she wasn't one to give up. "Then I guess I'll just have to find you afterwards."

The boy hesitated for a second, before carrying on walking. "Whatever." He said, exiting the room and walking all the way towards Grover who lit up when he saw him, to his slight dismay.

"I will have you, Percy Jackson." Thought Drew to herself, watching the boy exit the school without looking back.

Percy stared out the bus window as he waited for the trip to actually start. Grover had insisted on sitting next to the boy, but he had convinced him to scoot up to sit near Mr. Brunner to make sure he wouldn't get bothered by Nancy Bobofit, one of his common tormentors.

He was deep in thought before he was shook to reality by a prominent voice that ring throughout the bus.

"I'm here!" Said Theseus, huffing slightly as he had had to run to reach the bus. Percy didn't even bat an eye in his direction.

Agreeing shuffling down the bus aisle and talking to a couple different students, Theseus found his way right to the side of his brother, a grin on his face.

"You almost got left behind."

Theo laughed before sitting down by his brother.

Percy continued. "I'm surprised Mrs ...what's he doing here?"

Percy's eyes shifted behind Theo to see Grover standing there, smiling wide, matching Theseus's energy.

"Well, I saw him sitting in the front with Mrs. Dodds, so I decided to save him and let him sit with us." He said happily.

Percy only sighed as Grover sat down on the other side of his brother, and the two started to start up a conversation.

At first, Grover was hesitant to respond, but due to Theo's openness, he eventually grew comfortable and was smiling just as much as Theseus.

Though he was discreet about it, Percy found it a little cool that Grover had come out of his bubble.

Listening to the two had completely distracted Percy from the bus ride himself, and before he realize it they were at the museum.

Percy waited for everyone to exit the bus before he too got off, the cool air hitting his face immediately. He glanced ahead and saw that Theseus and Grover were already near the front of the group, giving him free reign.

The group had gone throughout the central part of the museum for the past half hour, Percy sticking to his thoughts the entire time, he hadn't found anything even remotely interesting until they came across a large stone statue, standing tall to the side of a column with a similar design.

Percy heard Theseus get called out by Mr. Brunner, but to his surprise, his brother had actually been able to answer his question. However, the boy was more interested in the statue.

The man depicted had a familiar vibe to him, but what stood out the most was the large scythe in his hand. For some reason, Percy was tempted to touch it.

The boy shook his head quickly before he walked off with his group, led by Mrs. Dodds who was taking them towards the outside for lunch.

"Ahem, Percy, I would like you to stay here, along with your brother." He heard his teacher call from behind,

He turned around and noticed that Theseus was currently standing with his head down next to Mr. Brunner who had stuck behind. Confused, Percy walked towards them.

"Excuse me, Mr. Jackson, but I want to know if you yourself know why things like the downfall of Kronos will be important in real life. Do you care to give your insight?"

In all honesty, Percy hadn't been listening to a single word his teacher had said while giving his presentation.

"Uhhh?" Was all he could say before Mr. Brunner sighed.

"Very well, I see. I will tell you two boys here right now, my class is more important then you know. Please, take it seriously."

"Yes sir." Muttered Theseus, but Percy said nothing. After a pause, Mr. Brunner dismissed the two, sending them off outside for lunch.

"He expects so much from us, as if we're supposed to be star students or something." Theseus said, slightly annoyed. Percy knew he was frustrated, but couldn't blame him as he too was confused.

"He's pushing us got some reason, but I don't know why exactly, yet. No point in worrying about it though." He said as he dismissed the conversation already.

Theseus only "humphed" as they sat at a table together, Grover finding them within seconds.

The two friends immediately started talking, and Percy yet again separated himself mentally, though he still noticed the crazy weather going on.

Percy could've fallen asleep when he was taken out of his zone by a scuffle going on to his side.

He turned around just in time to see Nancy Bobofit on her butt, the fountain water forming a puddle around her.

Grover was staring wide eyed at Theseus, who looked confused for a second before mad, something that nearly never happened.

Theseus often saved people from bad situations, but he usually never needed force or got mad to do so, but that was not the case right now.

Before Percy could even comprehend, Mrs. Dodds was on the scene, a furious look on her face. She took a second to baby Nancy before turning on Theo.

"You, Mr. Jackson. To display your ability in such a manner, that is too far. Come with me, at once!" She essentially snarled out.

Theo sighed before walking off, not without Grover trying to stick up for him.

To Percy's great surprise though, Mrs. Dodds turned on him as well. "You too, Mr. Perseus. Do not waste my time."

Percy eyes went wide before he became angry. "Why was he in trouble, or Theseus, for that matter. He didn't have time to think though as Mr. Dodds was already up the steps, and was creating distance surprisingly fast.

After following the teachers trail for some time, they two found themselves in the back of the museum, quite some ways away from the rest of the group.

Percy scanned the place and realized that this was probably where the staff kept the extra props from the exhibits. Why his teacher had brought them here was beyond him.

The boy scanned the statue to his left. It was a young man in light Greek looking armpit. He had a prominent scar going down his right arm, and a large sword in between both hands, planted in the ground.

Percy noticed the sword was a separate piece, and was seemingly real.

"Why exactly have you brought us all the way out here?" Asked Theseus impatiently.

"Really, I did nothing to the girl! Before I could even get up, I blinked, and boom! She was on the floor. To be honest, this is probably all a big misunderstanding."

Mrs. Dodds let out a sound eerily similar to a growl. Both brothers tensed up.

"How long did you two think you would last after doing what you did?" She asked in a scratchy voice.

Percy looked at his bro before turning back to his teacher who currently had her back to the two.

"What, Miss?" She scowled once more.

"Do not play dumb with me, Demi spawn." She spat out.

Now the two were really confused. "Ok Mrs, this is definitely a misunderstanding now." Said Theseus, trying to deescalate.

"You have one more chance to beg for forgiveness, and I'll consider giving you a painless death.

"What?!" Asked Theseus.

"3...2..." Percy's mind snapped as he decided he need to do something, but he didn't exactly know what.

"One!" Yelled Mrs. Dodds as she transformed into a bat like creature that stood 6 inches taller then before. Her already ugly face became hideous, he teeth turned into long fangs that protruded.

Her wings spread out far, both bigger then a Percy himself.

To make matters worse, two hellishly big dogs appeared behind the monster, both the size of rhinos. Percy's eyes went wind.

"What ho, Theseus!" Yelled a voice from behind. Theseus turned around just in time to see Mr. Brunner through a small pen through the air, and on instinct, he caught it.

However, instead of a pen in his hand, there was a 3 foot long bronze sword with a deadly sharp edge.

"Wha?!" Theseus stirred out as the deformed Mrs. Dodds launched at him.

Percy watched in fear as he thought his brother was about to get torn in half. Not wanting that, the boy kicked the bat in her back, throwing her off her path and saving his brother.

Quickly recovering from shock, Theseus raised his sword in defense, just in time to meet one of the devil dogs eye to eye.

Not knowing exactly what to do, Theo reared back his blade and swung it like a baseball bat, hitting the dog dead in its face with the flat of his weapon.

The massive dog moved surprisingly far, rolling back a couple of feet.

Theseus was about to celebrate the little victory, but couldn't as Mrs. Dodds rose from the ground, and turned on his brother.

"Ahh, the young one. It seems that only your brother has a sufficient weapon, making killing you much easier!"

Percy stared deeply at the monster before shifting towards the two dogs who were currently focused on only him.

Percy panicked for a second before his eyes locked onto the statue to his side. More specifically, the sword in its hand.

Desperate, Percy scrambled onto the pedestal and struggled to rip the blade from the carvings hand. Seeing his predicament, the closer dog pounced, rushing forward faster then Percy thought possible.

With one final push, Percy yanked and was able to rip the blade free, breaking the statues hands. With the momentum, Percy swung forward, and in one clean movement, he cleaved the dogs chest in half.

The sword cut through the monster like butter, and even a Percy found it a little disturbing.

After a moment, the dog squealed and started to turn to dust before it was gone altogether.

The two boys locked eyes with Mrs. Dodds who looked even more furious.

Percy contemplated telling Theseus to run, but decided there backs would get ripped out before they could take a step.

Without saying a word, Theseus growled and rushed forward.

He swung his sword a little wild, but much more efficiently then before. He was a quick learner.

However, the dog was quicker then most, jumping back from the attack with time to spare.

But, Percy wouldn't let it go unscathed. Capitalizing of his brothers attack, he rushed forward and slashed the monsters front legs.

With it essentially disabled, Theo rushed forward, and with a little struggle, he slashed the beast in two.

Percy, who was currently still crouched near the floor was about to go to his brother when there was a growl behind him.

With fear in his heart, he realized what he had done wrong. He had forgot about Mrs. Dodds.

With his mind moving in slow motion, he rolled forward, but thankfully, he didn't have to worry about making it or not as his brother came from his side and stabbed his sword directly into the monster, making her poof into a cloud of yellow dust.

The two said nothing for minutes as they breathed hard.

Eventually, Theseus said something very in character. "What the hell was that?!"

Percy shook his head before getting up. He stared at his hands in disbelief. He wasn't one to be caught off guard, but this was different. He didn't even know how he was alive.

All he remembered was that his body moved in unstick, as if it knew what to do. Due to their ADHD, the brothers usually felt like they were living in slow motion, but just then, that was actually the case.

There mind went on autopilot, every move seemingly presenting itself in front of them. Well, for Perseus at least.

"I don't know, but I don't like it, at all." He said, and Theo nodded.

The two looked around and saw that Mr. Brunner was nowhere to be seen. Percy wondered what they would do with their weapons when the started to shimmer. The two blinked, and when they opened they're eyes, the swords were gone.

Somehow, Theo was holding a ball point pen while Percy somehow found himself with a new dark, chain necklace

The two looked at each other, confused, before going back outside.

It was pouring, hard. Theseus spotted Grover and made his way towards him. Usually, Percy would've left him, but right now he wanted answers.

"Grover." He started.

The boy turned to him with a odd expression.

"Yes?"

"Where is Mrs. Dodds?" He asked.

Grover hesitated for the fraction of a second before he donned a worried expression. "Who?" He asked.

"Our Pre-Algebra teacher, Mrs. Dodds. Where is she?" He repeated.

Grover looked utterly confused, and Theseus started to explain to him everything about Mrs. Dodds. Percy saw the conversation was going nowhere, and decided Mr. Brunner would be a better source of answers.

"Ahh Percy, you've returned. I hope you didn't receive too much trouble. Is that a new necklace?" He asked.

The boy glanced down at the dark chain link, but focused back on his teacher. Who exactly was Mrs Kerr, he wondered. He decided he would find that out later.

"Where is Mrs. Dodds, sir?" He asked.

"Who?" Replied the man, echoing Grover.

Percy, not wanting to seem crazy, decided to try something different. "Err, I meant to ask, how exactly do you spell the other chaperones name?" He asked,

It was a way to find out who had replaced Mrs. Dodds, while not sounding crazy.

Mr. Brunner raised a brow. "You mean Mrs. Kerr? Well it's quite simple really. K-e-r —" He was stopped by Percy interrupting.

"Never mind, I've remembered, thanks Sir." He said as he walked away. He walked past his brother who was still struggling to explain to a sweaty Grover, grabbing him by his collar.

He yanked his brother away and placed him in a seat across from him.

"What was that for?!" He asked.

"Somethings going on, Theo, and I don't know what. Until we figure out what exactly it is, I don't think having people think we're crazy is a good idea. Keep this on the low, I'll figure something out." Percy said, trying to stay calm.

Theo though for a moment before gathering himself. "We just fought three monsters, Percy. I don't know exactly what you think we're gonna find out. But, if you insist, I'll keep quiet for now." He said.

Percy nodded, grateful that his brother agreed with him. Theseus wasn't an idiot, he knew when to talk and when not to.

The two got up from their seat and expertly played it off, claiming they were simply joking. They got a couple weird looks, but overall, no one questioned them.

Percy spent the rest of the year trying to figure out exactly what had happened at the museum, but he found literally nothing. The only way he stopped himself from going insane was talks with his brother, and slip ups from Grover.

Percy had decided to forget about the museum all together and simply focus on school and finals. This was hard however, as Drew had recently taken an increased interest in him, something he found wasted a lot of time.

Percy had just got back from avoiding Drew, and had plopped down on his bed.

He opened his most recent studying book and started reading, hoping to retain at least some information. His ADHD and dyslexia did not make things easier.

Percy was half asleep when there was a massive boom in his room, the window blowing open due to the wind. The shock had woken up Theo immediately, making him jump up.

The two stared at each other before eventually relaxing, closing the window in the process. "Your still studying?" Asked Theseus sleepily.

"Yeah, but I'm not really learning much." Replied Percy, slightly frustrated.

"Late night trip?" Asked Theo with a smile. It was something they hadn't done since earlier in the year, but Theseus thoroughly enjoyed it.

Percy sighed. "I guess." He said, getting up.

The two slid into their slippers and trudged through the empty, dark hallways.

They planned on simply going to the kitchen, getting some cookies and milk maybe, and leaving, but they became sidetracked when they saw a class door wide open with lights on.

Mr. Brunner's class.

The two walked towards the light carefully before leaning in to eavesdrop.

"I'm worried for them, Chiron, I really am. A kindly one and two full grown hellhounds?! They must be getting desperate!" Said the voice of Grover, surprising the two brothers.

What was he doing talking to a teacher about supposedly them.

"Grover, I told you before, I will keep them safe. Besides, no monster would be foolish enough to return now." He said.

"I hope so Chiron, you know what happens if I fail this mission." Grover said in a voice that Percy recognized. He was close to crying.

"Do not fret, the mist will keep them distracted till summer, and then we can get them to safety." Said the man.

"Are you sure. There both on to me, especially Percy." He said, and the boy flinched when he heard his name. This caused him to bump into Theo who had lost his balance, making him tumble back. The two locked eyes for a second before bolting off behind the corner.

They were just in time, as a distinctive *clop* *clop* was heard behind them. Percy stared with slight fear as a silhouette was seen that stood far above the doorframe.

"My nerves are getting to me. Return to your room, Grover, do not be seen."

That was all the two brothers had to hear to run off back to their room, not a word being spoken as they did so.

They shut the door behind them, not even remember anything about the late night trip.

"They know about the museum." Said Theseus as soon as he sat down.

"Obviously. And for some reason, they're trying to keep it a secret from us." Replied his brother.

The two conversed for some time, until eventually Percy came to a conclusion.

"We sleep on it. There's no point in worrying about it and risking failing this close to the summer.

Theo didn't seem to like it, but he nodded, laying down with his face towards the wall. It didn't take long for his bro to be out cold, and once he was, Percy left the room.

Percy laid back on his doorway and waited. He waited for minutes, before eventually he heard someone come down the hallway.

The person walked into Percy's view, and stopped when they noticed the boy.

"Percy?!" Asked Grover.

"Why are you out so late?" Asked the boy, no emotion in his voice. He kept his eyes down low.

"We-well, I had just got back from the cafe. You know me, always hungry." He said with a nervous chuckle.

Percy scowled before turning back and heading to my room.

"Stay in your lane, Grover, for your own good." He said, sending chills down the other boys spine.

Percy didn't wait to hear the boys response as he slammed the door behind him, somehow making no noise in the process.

He glanced over to see his brother turning in his sheets, muttering under his breath.

Percy caught a sentence.

"Don't do it Percy!" He said sleepily, nearly waking up.

His brother only huffed before going to bed as well, despite the fact that he had lost multiple hours. Little did he know, his brother was just trying to save him from his horrible fate.
