Chris stood at the dock that the twenty-two contestants had arrived on not to long ago. He wore his winning smile, one that everyone was eventually going to learn to hate one way or another. The campers were nowhere in sight, nor was Chef. It was just the host, the dock, and the rundown island.
"Last time on Total Drama: Island," Chris started with a joy in his voice, one that came along with being able to recap a previous episode. "We arrived here, at Camp Wawanakwa to find that it wasn't the resort that we were promised, but instead, a yucky summer camp that would make Denny's look like a five star restaurant. Here, I introduced the rules of our little game to the audience, and our twenty-two guests that arrived later! Our first one to show was Gene, the tech wizard with a neckbeard, who immediately knew that something was off about the island. We got to meet a bunch of other strange people, from Duke, the wrestler that was practically made of sweat and sunburns, to Hellen, the girl with a book the size of a dictionary full of...well, nothing important. We split them into two teams, the Killer Bass and the Screaming Gophers, each team finding their own way to argue with each other before anything else. After a brief resting period in the main lodge, where they got to meet the camp's resident chef, I let them in on a little secret: that the first elimination challenge of the season was gonna be on day one! That's right! Twenty-two campers, two teams, and a thousand foot high cliff that drops into shark infested waters! Which team will be the first to taste victory? Which camper will be the first to get the boot off the island? You can find out, right now, on Total Drama: Island!"
"Dear mom and dad, I'm doing fine," as the opening theme started to kick up, a camera whooshed its way through the island, passing by Chris and the Sasquatchanakwa until it reached the top of the thousand foot cliff, leaping off of it and diving into the water.
"You guys are on my mind," under the water, Duke found himself wrestling a shark, after just having made his dive into it.
"You asked me what I wanted to be and I think the answer's plain to see," on top of the water, in a small boat, Veronica was clinging onto Roxy's arm for dear life, until Duke popped up from underneath with the shark in his arms, causing the frightened girl to jump out of the boat with a scream, all while Roxy glared at Duke.
"I wanna be famous!" in the forest of the island, Lyle was playing the flute to calm a herd of bears around him, which Wendell and Annalise, who were off to the side in the bushes, threw rocks at, causing them to chase after Lyle.
"I wanna live close to the sun," on top of a waterfall, Leslie was bouncing up and down in a raft, while Hellen wrote something down in her book, neither of them noticing that they were about to go over the waterfall.
"So pack your bags, cause I've already won," the raft continued to fall down the fall, passing by Percival, who was practicing his swordplay while standing on a log that bridged a gap.
"Everything to prove, nothing in my way, I'll get there one day," suddenly, Lukas and Peggy came running from one side of the gap, knocking Percival into the water as they ran past, revealing the Sasquatchanakwa to be chasing them, until all three crashed into the confessional booth and knocked Bobby out of it and onto the ground.
"I wanna be famous!" Rolf was being held captive by Chef, who was making some disgusting looking soup in a pot, while Josef plugged his ears nearby, being annoyed by Desiree and her non-stop blabbing.
"Na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na," on the steps to the beach outside, Francis and Evander watched Elicia intently as she performed some scene from a famous play on the sands, though a fish hit her in the head and knocked her to the ground, followed by Evander conking Francis on the back of the head.
"I wanna be, I wanna be, I wanna be famous!" back on the dock, Claudia was playing her harp beautifully until and octopus tentacle grabbed her and launched her into the side of the lodge.
"I wanna be, I wanna be, I wanna be famous!" at the campfire ceremony, Gene and Harriett were both leaning in to kiss each other before Colleen popped up in between them, slapping her ruler against the palm of her hand while the rest of the group whistled in unison, all sitting around the same campfire.
The twenty-two contestants stood atop the cliff, a great deal of them absolutely terrified of what was going on. Chris stood before them, snickering to himself as he noticed the fear in everyone's eyes. He scanned the group, trying to pick out who were the most scared of the bunch. Though there was fear coming from every front, the most noticeable was Veronica, who was shaking so intensely that it seemed to cause a small tremor.
"Welcome, everyone!" Chris greeted the group, "We're standing at the location of your first challenge of the season: the thousand foot cliff!"
"T-t-thousand feet?" Veronica asked shakily, "B-b-but that's a little extreme, don't you think?"
Her bathing suit was plain, not bringing in much attention from anyone. It was a one piece, with the legs going down to her knees and the arms going all the way to her wrists. It was entirely blue, and she also had a pair of yellow floaties on her arms, giving her a look that she was a terrified child. Her hair was now fully exposed, showing that it was quite short, only about three inches long at the longest, with the sides shaven to a little more than a buzz.
"Extreme!?" Duke pounded his chest like a gorilla, "The champ lives for the extreme!"
The wrestler was wearing purple swim trunks, those which had white lightning bolts on them, just like his regular shirt that he had on. He still had his turnbuckle with him, leaving it sitting right at his side. Near him was Josef, who hadn't changed any of his clothes in the slightest. He still had on the very same heavy jacket that he arrived in, almost as if he was trying to hide something.
"Why you are always loud?" the massive boy asked the obnoxious wrestler, "Can you not just be silent? Shush, like mouse!"
"I will not 'shush like mouse!' I'll take you to a smackdown if you keep challenging me like that!"
"Gentlemen, please," Wendell interrupted, a smirk on his face, "Let's mellow out a little bit. You two could easily just beat each other up or whatever it is you want to do after the challenge, right?"
The Australian boy wore a simple pair of black swim trunks, with a green stripe on either side, going all the way down the side. It revealed that he was actually quite muscular, which wasn't a vibe that was given off from him when he first showed up. Annalise gushed at the sight, licking her lips in a perverted manner before Colleen smacked her on the back of the head. The model was wearing a USA bikini, with the stars covering her right breast, and the other breast and bottom having red and white stripes covering them. Her friend, however, was wearing maroon swim trunks, rather than a bikini bottom, and a maroon wet shirt to match.
"Ow, why'd you do that!?" Annalise yapped at Colleen.
"You're ogling someone who isn't on your team," the stern one replied, "If you continue to do so, your productivity will surely fall."
"Why do you care? You're on the other team, you would benefit from that!"
"Maybe, but I've taken a liking to you. I don't need you dropping out early and letting some of those slobs like Gene or Bobby go further into the competition."
"Thanks, but I'll be able to manage on my own. Don't you worry."
Confessional
"Simply put," Annalise started, a devilish smirk on her face, "I'm here to win, and I know that I won't be leaving anytime soon. I'm here to grab this competition by the throat and get everybody in my way out early. What? You don't think a 'lil' cutie' like me can make it? You couldn't be more wrong."
"Duke is annoying, like bull," Josef noted, looking uninterested, "He's loud, he's aggressive, and he's breaking all the fences at family farm. Okay, maybe not last one, but still annoying."
"That Josef is one step away from crossing into rumble territory!" Duke shouted, his face red with anger, "If he keeps this up, we're gonna be the headline event soon!"
Confessional End
"See, campers," Chris continued, "Our producers knew that we were gonna have to do a strong start if we want to reel in the viewers, so that's why we're here! We could've easily done some lame arts and crafts challenge, but why bother doing that when we could have you jump off of this cliff instead?"
"Jump off of the cliff!?" Rolf piped up, his teeth chattering, "That's ridiculous, we could die from a jump like that!"
The food blogger wore a designer pair of swim trunks, they were silver with a gold band around his waist. It wouldn't have shocked anyone if he told them that the band was actually made of gold, that was just his style. Roxy sighed nearby, patting him on the head and causing him to glare at her. She had a bikini with her right breast covered by red cup, and her left breast covered by a black one. The bottom was black, but she also wore a translucent red frilly swim skirt over it.
"What's the matter, foodie?" she mocked him, "You scared of getting a little wet?"
"Not at all! But surely diving off of a thousand foot cliff strikes as some type of dangerous!"
"I dunno, I think it's gonna be fun, fun, fun!" Leslie cheered nearby.
She was as jittery as ever, now wearing a pink tube top and a matching pink bikini bottom. Evander, who wasn't far from her, found himself grinning as he watched her "bounce" through his sunglasses, only to have his eyes covered by Percival's hand. The cool guy wore a plain, black pair of swim trunks along with his dark glasses, those which he raised to shoot an annoyed glance at his friend. Percival had on a pair of swim trunks that were blue on one leg, with yellow on the other. Coincidentally, Hellen ogled at him from where she was standing, wearing a dark, green bikini.
"Hey, isn't it a little rude to stare at a girl like that?" Percival asked his friend.
"Eh?" Evander chuckled, "I dunno what you're talking 'bout, bud."
"You weren't looking at Leslie's...you know..."
"Nah, I may have been looking in her general direction, but not at her chest."
"I'm not sure I can trust you on that..."
"Eh, whatever. You want me to take my sunglasses off? I'll keep 'em off."
The boy grumbled to himself, putting his sunglasses in a special case and keeping his eyes exposed, much to his distaste.
"Note to self," Hellen started to mumble to herself, "Knights have amazing, chiseled muscles. How interesting."
"What are you talking about?" Claudia asked, scaring Hellen, as she popped out of nowhere.
"Gah! Where did you come from!?"
"I was just standing nearby...you know, not really sneaking up on you. Sorry if I startled you."
Hellen caught her breath, letting out a sigh as Claudia stood nearby awkwardly. The rich girl also had a one-piece bathing suit, like Veronica's, only ditching the sleeves and legs. It was green in color, with a white star on the chest. Desiree suddenly ran over to the two, patting Claudia on the back. She was wearing a black bikini top, though she had on a white swim skirt.
"Hey, pee pants!" she greeted the girl, causing her to sigh in annoyance.
"What ever could you possibly want?"
"You're not gonna pee your pants while we do this, are you? That would be so embarrassing! I promise, I would never tell anyone about it though! You can pee your pants if you need to!"
"Can you please stop? That was a long time ago, and I was nervous at the time."
"Oh, I'm sorry! I'll stop, pee pants!"
Hellen giggled a little as Claudia facepalmed at the nuisance that was Desiree.
Confessional
"Desiree is just so rude," Claudia complained, "I haven't peed my pants in a long time! I don't know why she keeps calling me that, I never even did anything mean to her. I tried to be nice all throughout the schooltime we had together..."
"Pee pants is so funny!" Desiree chirped, "She's all like 'oh, don't call me pee pants!' But that's such a good nickname for her! Good ol' pee pants, can't live without her!"
Confessional End
"Now, jumping off of a cliff this tall is intense enough already," Chris started, snickering to himself, "But we've decided to crank up he action a little more than that!"
"How exactly do you crank up the action from that point?" Peggy asked quietly.
She also wore a one piece bathing suit, hers being purple in color, and going up past her neck to cover her mouth, which was the most peculiar thing about it. Lukas stood near here, wearing a blue pair of swim trunks with a blue swim cap to match, keeping his messy hair mostly covered. He patted her on the back, trying to get her to calm down a little bit. She glanced over at him, blushing a little bit.
"Well, you see...the water below you is actually much more dangerous that the jump itself. If you'll take a look off the side of the cliff, you'll notice a ring floating in the water. That ring is our safe zone. If you dive into there, you won't have much of anything to worry about. It doesn't give you points or anything to land in there, it simply keeps you out of danger's way."
"What do you mean by 'danger's way?'" Francis questioned the host.
He wore a white tee shirt with a black pair of swim trunks, trying his best to hide his shrimpy exterior from everyone's glances. Elicia stood near him, wearing a purple bikini top and bottom, as well as a pair of swim goggles with purple rims.
"Oh, maybe there's sharks outside the ring," she joked, "It can't be anything too crazy. I wouldn't worry if I were you."
"Actually," Chris interrupted her, "There are a bunch of sharks outside of that ring. If you land outside the ring, you'll find yourself at their mercy. It's quite the mess to get into, so I'd suggest you try your best to hit the safe zone."
Elicia gulped in fear, knowing that it would've been better to just say nothing than to make her comment. Francis sighed, feeling that somehow the presence of the sharks was caused by his pathetic self being there.
Confessional
"How does this always happen?" Elicia asked herself, "Every time I try to say things aren't going to be that bad, poof! Suddenly, they're that bad! It first happened when a camp trip got rained out and I said it can't get any worse. I broke my arm ten seconds after."
"Bad things always happen when I'm around," Francis said with a sigh, "I'm like...the Ultimate Unlucky, or something like that. It's so strange..."
Confessional End
"So, here's how this works," Chris went on, "Everybody will get the opportunity to jump into the water. That's all you need to do. If you don't jump, we'll forcibly put a chicken hat on your head, letting everyone know that you're a weenie and that you're not willing to face your fears to help your team. The team that has the most total jumpers, and the least amount of chickens will get a little reward before we move onto the second part of our challenge!"
"Two parts?" Harriett's eyes glimmered in excitement, "You're really going all out for this one! I love it!"
She wore a red one piece swimsuit, one that didn't have any straps over her shoulders, and a blue beach skirt over it. She was missing her signature backpack, but knowing that it was safe in the cabin kept her happy. Gene stood nearby, still unable to talk to her, despite his attempts. He, like Francis, had a white tee shirt on, and a pair of yellow swim trunks. His glasses were still on, though he had a massive pair of goggles on over them. In fact, he was the only glasses wearing camper that still had them on. Next to him, stood Bobby, who wore white swim trunks that, like his typical shirt, had many stains on them. Lyle was also in the group, though the two boys were avoiding looking at him as he only wore a tan speedo.
"Dude, you really couldn't get a better bathing suit than that?" Genes asked, shielding his eyes, "I mean, come on, you're making us feel awkward!"
"What?" Lyle asked, confused at the awkwardness, "My mom got it for me!"
"I think your mom was trying to get you made fun of at school, bro," Bobby suggested.
"I dunno about that."
"How many other guys here are wearing a speedo?" Gene continued to question him.
"Uh...huh...no one, I guess. That's weird. Mom said these are popular with the nature lovers. Maybe no one else here appreciates the natural beauty of the island."
Bobby and Gene glanced at each other, each of them feeling some sort of pity for the boy that had no idea what was wrong with it.
Confessional
"Poor Lyle," Bobby said, shaking his head in disappointment, "Dude needs to have a serious talk with his mom about the whole speedo thing. That's embarrassing, even to someone like me. And I have no shame! I guess he's more shameless than I am."
"Aw, man!" Gene bumped his head against the side of the confessional, "How am i supposed to be able to talk to Harriett when a dude in a speedo is chilling near me!? Lyle's cool and all...but yeesh."
"I'm still not seeing the problem with it," Lyle shrugged, "It's not that bad."
Confessional End
The group was more uneasy than before, each now huddled with the rest of their own teams, waiting for further instruction from Chris.
"Well, let's get the ball rolling!" Chris clapped his hands together and pointed to the water, "Which team is gonna go first? If you don't volunteer someone, I'm just gonna pick myself."
"Agh!" Veronica squeaked, jumping into Roxy's arms. "T-t-too far...sharks are t-t-too scary..."
"That's alright, you don't have to go first," Roxy attempted to comfort her, "You can wait 'til later, yeah?"
"O-o-okay..."
"I suppose, if no one else wants to go, I can lead the charge," Percival suggested, walking away from his team to approach the end of the cliff. "All I need to do is jump down there?"
"Yes, indeedy!" Chris replied, kicking back in a beach chair, "Once you land, Chef will pull around in a boat to pick you up out of the water."
"Alright..."
Percival stretched his arms out, looking back at the ten of his teammates, most of which were giving him a thumbs up as he stood there.
"You got this, Percy!" Evander called out to him, "And you're gonna look real cool doing it!"
"Yeah," Hellen mumbled, "Cool and hot at the same time...he'll cause a tornado."
"What was that?"
"Oh, nothing!"
"Okay, here goes nothing!" Percival exhaled deeply, stepping back a bit to give himself some good distance from the edge of the cliff.
Focusing his sights on his goal and getting into a good sprinting position, he dashed to the edge of the cliff, leaping off of it with a bravado that even Evander himself couldn't match. He stared down at the water as he fell through the sky, keeping his eyes focused on the safety ring. He could see the sharks snapping their jaws as they swam around the ring, clearly wanting a meal. He got closer and closer to the water, curling up into a cannonball position just before he finally crashed into it. Water splashed everywhere, the impact of the cannonball even pushing the sharks back a little bit. He landed in the dead center of the ring, and his team looked down at him, most of them cheering loudly as Chef approached him in the boat.
"Look at that!" Chris spoke over the cheers, "The Gophers have got one point under their belt already. There's just ten of you left, who's gonna go next?"
"Eh, I can go next!" Evander said, cracking his knuckles in anticipation. "If my boy's gonna set the stage like that, we're gonna need a good follow up act!"
"Exactly," Colleen interrupted him, walking towards the cliff, "Which is why I'm going next."
"Hey! I already said I was gonna go!"
"And? Is this kindergarten? Do we take dibs on who does what when? You're disappointing."
"Oh, I am not disappointing! I'm...appointing! Or whatever the word is! Outta my way, bitch!"
"How crass! Your vulgar tone is not appreciated in the slightest!"
"Whatever!"
The boy started hurdling towards the cliff, ignoring the fact that Colleen was in the way, and tackling her into the water with him. Annalise gasped as it happened, with some of the others in the area laughing at it.
Confessional
"How dare he!?" Colleen grumbled, slapping her broken ruler against the palm of her hand aggressively, "I'll make him regret that!"
"Now that was hilarious," Roxy laughed to herself, "It's about time somebody stuck it to that crazy lady."
Confessional End
The two fell through the sky together, with Colleen, who was in his arms, slamming her fists against Evander's back all the way.
"Unhand me, you beast!" she hollered.
"Too much air pressure!" Evander replied, unable to move his arms, "Just deal with it!"
They continued to fall, the sharks waiting with their mouths open, but all suddenly swimming away in fear as Colleen glared at them. When they finally crashed into the water, it took a second for them to pop up. Upon doing so, she immediately punched the boy in the head, knocking him out before grabbing him and throwing him onto the boat with Percival, choosing to swim back to shore on her own rather than share the boat with the two.
"Evander!?" Percival shouted his name, catching his friend, "Are you alright!?"
Clearly unconscious, the boy didn't reply, leaving Percival to worry for him, not exactly sure what to do with him. Meanwhile, back up on the cliff, Chris was waiting for another jumper, tapping his foot as he did so. Wendell cracked his neck, approaching the cliff by himself.
"You wanna see how we deal with danger in Australia?" he smirked back at the crowd, "We don't care about safety, we charge right on in!"
With those words, he leapt from the cliff, taking a diving position in doing so. The onlookers watched with interest, noting that his target landing point was nowhere near the safe zone, but rather in the shark infested waters. The sharks returned to their positions, seeming to grin at the boy as he came closer, only to find their threatening aura quickly outdone by Wendell's. Angling himself just right, he landed feet first on one of the sharks' noses, soon grabbing it by the fin and forcing it to swim to shore with him on board. Colleen found herself impressed by the demonstration the the boy had just done, clapping for him as he passed her by.
"Well, that certainly was exhilarating," she commented.
"That's nothing," Wendell replied in a snobby manner, "The sharks that swim near my home easily dwarf these things. Hell, I've seen dogs bigger than those pathetic fish. Bring on a real challenge, Chris!"
Chris rolled his eyes at Wendell's comment, glancing over at the seven Gophers that still had to jump. Excitedly, Leslie bounced her way on over to the edge of the cliff, turning to face everyone with an excited smile.
"This is gonna be a lotta fun!" she cheered, "Watch, watch, watch!"
As she talked, the other contestants could see the ground starting to crack from her bouncing like a jackhammer. Immediately, Veronica covered her eyes, fearful of what was to come.
"I'm gonna do an ultra, uber, mega dunk blast! Whatever that is! Yeah, yeah, yeah!"
"Uh...Leslie?" Claudia tried to get her attention.
"Hold on, I'm not done yet! Then, I'm gonna hug one of the sharks! Yeah, yeah!"
"Leslie, I don't think you know what you're-" Rolf was cut off by Leslie going on her tangent some more.
"But wait, I'm getting to the best part! Then, I'm gonna-"
"Leslie!" Roxy shouted over her, "You're breaking the ground!"
"I am?"
Looking down, Leslie noticed that the chunk of the cliff that she was standing on had crumbled below her, leaving her bouncing in the air, defying the very laws of physics. She looked at her team again, smiling even wider.
"Uh oh!" she cried out, before falling down.
She screamed in excitement as she fell through the sky, doing lots of spins through the air and causing her to turn into a cartoonish hurricane, swirling through the sky with ease. She spun herself at such a speed that she was able to move herself out of danger and into the safe zone, much to everyone's shock.
"Aw, I messed up my big plan!" she chirped, though clearly disappointed, "Can I go again, Chris? Can I, can I?"
"Only one jump per person!" Chris shouted down at her.
"Aw, fiddlesticks!"
Confessional
"Poo!" Leslie snapped her fingers in annoyance, "I wanna go again so badly!"
Confessional End
Hellen, Francis, Rolf, Veronica, Claudia, and Roxy glanced between each other, each not sure of who to send off the cliff next.
"I suppose I could go next," Claudia offered.
"Yeah, you got this, Claudia!" Hellen cheered. "Just remember that you're more likely to be killed by a cow than a shark!"
"That's not a very comforting thought..."
The girl sighed, slowly making her way to the edge of the cliff, which now had a chunk of it missing. She stared down at the sharks, shivering a little as she saw them snapping up in the water.
"W-well, here goes nothing..."
Taking a deep breath, she jumped off of the cliff, starting to quickly descend through the air. She tried to keep her eyes shut, but found it difficult to do so while she wondered what was below her. Letting them open, she saw the sharks beneath her, and immediately screamed a bloodcurdling scream before just barely landing in the safe zone. It took her a little while to pop up, but when she did, she looked as if she had seen a ghost. Chef brought the boat on over to her, picking her up in it and taking her to shore. When she got off of the boat, she was met with the other jumpers from her team, with Evander still knocked out in the sand.
"Are you alright?" Percival asked, noting the horrified expression she carried.
"Quite fine," she mumble, "Quite fine indeed."
Confessional
"Do not tell Desiree what just happened," Claudia hissed.
Confessional End
"Alright, I wanna get this over with," Hellen announced, running towards the edge of the cliff, "You can easily thwart a shark by punching it in the nose! Sharks don't attack humans at random, they attack at the scent of blood! And sharks are ahhhhhhhhhhhh!"
She leapt from the cliff, failing to finish her sentence as the jump sent her into a scream, which was a mix of fear and excitement. She landed in the safe zone, skillfully, popping up and spitting out a bunch of water before climbing onto the boat. Looking up at her four remaining teammates on top of the cliff, she tossed them a thumbs up, trying to let them know that it really wasn't that bad. All eyes up there suddenly turned to Rolf, whose own eyes widened from the sudden attention.
"Ha, no way!" the blogger protested, "I'm not endangering myself and possibly putting Getting Real with Rolf on hold for a silly challenge!"
"Come on, dude," Roxy growled, "If the other team has more jumpers than us, we're gonna be at a disadvantage."
"Yeah," Francis butted in, "You heard him say that."
"I don't care, I'm not making the jump," Rolf continued to be belligerent, closing his eyes and crossing his arms.
Upon opening his eyes, he found a chicken hat on top of his head, his jaw dropping from the forced headpiece while Chris snickered at him.
"Looks like the Gophers have got one chicken for their team already!" Chris announced, loud enough for the teammates at the bottom of the cliff to hear, "I wonder if the other three will be able to make this jump? Rolf, you can take the walk down to the beach. I'm sure your teammates are gonna love to see you down there."
"Yeah, Rolf," Roxy hissed, "Go on down and have fun dealing with Miss Mean Colleen."
Rolf sighed, turning away from his teammates and starting his way down the cliff.
Confessional
"If it weren't for the fact that I have a lot to live for," Rolf started, glaring at the camera, "I easily could've made that jump! Unfortunately, the world simply could not go on without their favorite food blogger posting on his usual schedule. I'm simply thinking of the fans, is all."
Confessional End
With only Francis, Roxy, and Veronica still on top of the cliff on the Gophers side of things, the boy took a deep breath, approaching the cliff while trying to ignore the terror of the drop.
"Okay, you can do this, Francis," he tried to pep himself up. "This is just like that one scene in First Destination, all you gotta do is dive at the right angle."
He let out the breath, just as deep as he had taken it in, and leapt from the cliff, trying to maintain a perfect diving form, only for it to quickly break up into him flailing his arms through the sky as he screamed. His team on the beach watched eagerly as he fell into the area with the sharks, immediately popping up from the water as one of the sharks attempted to bite him on the rear. He seemed to run on the water for the next few seconds, and upon getting on the beach, he crashed into Colleen, his face landing right in the center of her chest. The others on the beach felt their eyes widen as he looked up to see where he was, only remaining conscious for another second before her fist slammed against the back of his head, knocking him flat. Back up on the cliff, Veronica was shivering more intensely than before, wishing that she could simply avoid the challenge.
"You okay?" Roxy asked, putting her hand on her shoulder.
"N-n-no!" Veronica squeaked, "I'll die if I go in there!"
"You don't have to do it, you know."
"But if I don't do it the team's gonna get mad at me..."
"Nah, don't worry about that. I won't let them. It's okay, just take the chicken hat and go down, no one's gonna be rude to you about it. I promise."
"If you say so..."
Chris rushed over, snapping a chicken hat onto Veronica's head, causing her eyes to widen in fear as she started running back down the cliff.
"P-p-poultry is terrifying!" she cried out, causing the host to snicker.
"Well, Roxy," Chris started, "Are you gonna jump? You are the last chance the group has to get some good points."
"Yeah, yeah," she rolled her eyes at him, "I'll jump, just give me a second."
With that, she stretched her legs out, eventually rushing to the edge of the cliff and leaping off of it with a grin on her face. The sharks, upon seeing her, found themselves infatuated with her, each of them swimming out of the way as she landed outside of the safe zone. She made a safe swim back to land, where her team was waiting.
"And that's nine jumpers for the Gophers!" Chris exclaimed, "Bass! You need ten jumpers to beat their score! Do you think you can do it?"
Confessional
"R-R-Roxy is so nice to me," Veronica mumbled, "I'm not sure why, but she has been ever since we got on the boat together. If only there was someway I could show her my thanks. I-i-it probably doesn't matter, anyway. I'll probably be eliminated tonight..."
Confessional End
All eyes turned onto the Bass, which were mostly ready to take on the challenge of meeting the ten jumpers of the other team. Duke posed victoriously, ready to make his jump first, although Josef was quick to butt into the spotlight.
"Chris, I'm not doing this," the paranoid boy stated, causing his team to gasp, "It could lead to an unsightly death, as could most things on this island. I will take chicken hat now."
"Wow, wow!" Duke shouted, "You're making the stupid jump! If you don't, you're gonna feel the pain this Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!"
"Whatever."
"Alright," Chris sighed, tossing a chicken hat over to the giant of a boy, "Go ahead down to the bottom of the cliff. Kinda lame to have the first person on your team not jump, but whatever, I guess."
Josef started his way down the cliff, Duke booing at him all the way.
"Fine!" the wrestler grumbled at him, "If you wanna be a wimp, I'll just show everyone how it's done!"
The boy approached the edge of the cliff, placing his turnbuckle down and climbing to the top of it. After striking an intense pose, he leapt into the air, holding his elbow out as if ready to strike. The sharks looked up at him, not understanding what he was attempting to do, until he crashed his elbow down on one of them, causing all of its teeth to crack and fall out of its mouth. He popped up from the water, glaring at the now toothless shark and causing it to swim away in fear. With a smirk, he swam back to shore, where Colleen rolled her eyes at him.
"That was most impressive!" Percival applauded, "I can't say I've ever seen someone deal with a ravenous beast like that before, bravo!"
"Huh?" Duke stuck a pose again, "Well, I am the champ, after all!"
"Oh, brother," Colleen said with a sigh.
Back up on the cliff, the remaining nine Bass were thinking about who should go next, but before anyone could offer to take it, Harriett simply started to run to the cliff.
"Woohoo!" she cheered, "Taking on every adventure that comes my way, let's go!"
She leapt from the cliff, somersaulting through the air as she fell down, surprising all of her teammates. She skillfully landed in the safe zone, popping up from the water and giggling from the fun that she just had.
"Come on down, guys!" she shouted back up to everyone, "It's loads of fun!"
"Well, she says it's fun," Elicia started with a sudden smile crawling onto her face, "Us theater kids need to take every chance we can get, and rise to the top! Let's do this, woo!"
She ran towards the cliff, tripping right at the end of it and falling through the sky, somehow barely landing in the safe zone. Harriett helped her up as the boat approached them, giggling at the major fumble that the girl had just taken.
Confessional
"Well, that sure was thrilling!" Harriett cheered, "If every challenge is like this, that would be awesome!"
"I really goofed that one up, eh?" Elicia giggled, "Oh well, at least we've got some teammates that are caring and helpful, like that Harriett!"
Confessional End
"Oh boy!" Desiree piped up, barely able to contain her excitement, "I need to make this jump and find out if pee pants peed her pants again! Wish me luck, everyone!"
While most of her remaining team rolled their eyes at her, Desiree skipped to the edge of the cliff, doing a pencil dive right into the center of the safe zone. She immediately popped up from under the water, turning her attention to the group on the beach, specifically Claudia, who was trying to hide herself from the girl.
"Hey, pee pants!" she shouted at the girl, "Did ya do it again? Did ya? You can tell me! Your secret is safe with me!"
"Leave me alone!" Claudia shouted back to her.
"Aw, don't be like that! We can be good friends and tell each other all of our secrets, it'll be fun! I promise!"
As Desiree climbed onto the boat, eager to go pester Claudia some more, Lyle did some stretches at the edge of the cliff, all too ready to dive into the shark infested waters. He turned to face the remaining members of his team, flashing them a bright smile.
"You see, you don't have to worry about those critters down there," he started, causing the group to look at him with a hint of worry and confusion, "All you need to do is show them some love, everyone needs love!"
"I dunno if sharks care too much about love," Gene suggested. "You should maybe just try to land in the safe zone, bro."
"Nonsense! I'll show you guys, just watch and learn!"
"He's gonna get himself killed," Bobby mumbled to Lukas, who shook his head in disappointment.
Turning back to face the water, Lyle skillfully dived off the edge of the cliff, aiming towards the shark infested waters. His team watched him in fear, most of them hoping for his safety as he landed in the water and the sharks all approached him. He popped up form the water, facing the sharks, and started to whistle a calming tune. After a few seconds, the sharks seemed to lose the intensity from before, and carried him to shore before heading back into the water, astonishing those still up on the cliff, and those on the beach.
Confessional
"Sharks are just big ol' babies," Lyle commented, "All it takes is a lot of care, and you can keep 'em in a good mood for a while. It's those barracudas you gotta be worried about, they don't care who it is, they just attack outta nowhere!"
Confessional End
Only Gene, Bobby, Annalise, Peggy, and Lukas remained at the top of the cliff, and the Bass only had one chicken for the time being. Annalise sighed, not wanting to be stuck up top with that group of "losers" for much longer, and approached the cliff, leaving the four of them behind. She peered down at the water, shrugging her shoulders at the sight, clearly not bothered.
"Well, I'd love to stay up here and kick the day away with you clowns," she started, mocking all four of them and managing to get a glare shot at her from Gene and Lukas, "But you're all just...boring. So, tata!"
With her rude words, she jumped from the cliff, seeing the water approaching her faster and faster. She held her breath as deep as she could, diving into the safe zone. Under the water, she could see the sharks waiting for her, full of aggression. Even the one that was missing its teeth could be seen among the group, wanting her to stray from the zone. Her eyes widened, and she popped up from the water, gasping for air. She expected to be met with the bright sun, but instead, she found that there was an over looming shadow coming down on her. Looking up, she noticed Bobby one his way down, no regard for her still being there.
"Belly flop time!" he shouted, still unaware of the girl beneath him.
"Agh! No, you beast! I'm still down he-"
She was unable to finish her sentence, finding herself back under the water from the impact of the boy. They soon both popped back up, her with a bump on her head from the collision, and him with his chest and belly all red, from the belly flop. Each of them stung like nothing they've felt before, hissing in pain as Chef approached them in his boat, picking them up and carrying them to shore.
Confessional
"I'm so gonna kill him for that," Annalise grumbled, rubbing her sore head, "This little bump is gonna cost me a pageant! It's an imperfection! Oh, he'll pay dearly for this, I swear it!"
"Man, that was fun as hell!" Bobby cheered, "Too bad it gave me a wicked belly burn! Oh, and that girl totally showed up outta nowhere. What was that about? Doesn't she know it's dangerous to be below someone while they're doing a belly flop?"
Confessional
"I guess that means I'm up next," Gene mumbled, heading towards the cliff as the other two watched him, "If I die from this, make sure all of my stuff gets mailed to my dad! He'll no what to do with it!"
Peggy shifted her glance away from him as Lukas saluted him for his bravery. The boy then sighed, still a little nervous about what he was soon to do, but he jumped anyway. As the wind crashed against him, he curled up into a cannonball position, keeping his eyes closed all the way. The ones on the beach watched the large boy as he came crashing into the water, causing a massive explosion of water to shoot up into the sky, managing to get Peggy, Lukas, and even Chris wet. He soon swam up from underneath the water, shaking his head off before looking over at those on the beach, only to find Bobby and Lyle cheering him on for the display.
"Man, that was awesome!" Bobby cheered for his friend, "That was the coolest cannonball I've ever seen!"
"Gene, Gene, Gene!" Lyle chanted the boy's name, over and over again.
Gene found himself smiling from the reaction as he climbed onto the boat, only for an intense blush to be added to the smile when he noticed that Harriett was also applauding him for his performance. His heart skipped a beat as he did so, causing Chef to roll his eyes.
Confessional
"I remember my first crush," Chef started, looking up at the ceiling in thought, "It was a great thing to have, but I got made fun of by the whole school for trying to make a move. Gene seems like a nice kid, maybe I should give him a hand with Harriett. Beats taking advice from these other sissies."
Confessional End
Lukas looked at the water as Peggy stood off to the side, trying to make sure there was a way to make the jump and stay safe. After assessing it, he turned back to face her again, noticing that she was still having a hard time even looking at the water. He rushed over to her, taking hold of her hands in his, causing her to look at him with confusion. He nodded his head at her, trying to assure her that it would be safe, causing her to look down and sigh.
"I guess I could do it...I'm just nervous to jump alone," she mumbled.
In saying that, Lukas pulled her along with him to the edge of the cliff, making sure that he was holding her hand all the way. The twenty contestants on the beach looked up at them, the two chicken hat wearers from the Gophers fearful of what was to come of them. Lukas nodded to Peggy again, causing her to nod back, and the two leapt from the edge together. Finding herself falling through the sky, she clung to the boy for dear life. He held onto her tightly too, trying to keep her feeling safe as the both of them landed in the safe zone. Their team cheered for them, knowing that they had secured the advantage for them, while the Gophers sighed in disappointment.
"And the Bass have ten jumpers," Chris shouted to everyone, now suddenly on the beach, "Which means that they get the advantage for the second part of this challenge!"
Confessional
"That was really sweet of Lukas," Peggy mumbled awkwardly, "I mean, I definitely couldn't have made that jump without him...so it was nice of him to help me."
"Peggy seems pretty cool," Lukas scribbled on his board, "It would be a shame to let her doubt herself too much. I'm gonna try to boost her self-confidence while I'm here!"
Confessional End
"Alright everyone," Chris started, gathering everyone's attention as they shook the water off of themselves. "The second part of this challenge is a lot less intense, so don't worry about having to fight off bears or skydive or anything like that. Behind me, you'll notice a massive amount of crates, each of them containing supplies. These supplies will be used by you and your team to build...a hot tub!"
"A hot tub!?" Leslie brimmed with excitement, "Alright! I love, love, love hot tubs!"
"Oh, don't we all? Now, your job is to take your team's crates, and bring them all the way back to the cabins, where you'll be building said tubs. Bass, since you guys won the first half of the challenge, you'll get some dollies to carry the crates with. It should make your trip back there a lot easier. Gophers, you'll have to move all of the crates by hand. It's inevitably gonna take you more time to do so. You all have one hour to get your hot tubs built, and the best hot tub will determine which team will have to send somebody home tonight! Your hour starts...now!"
Without a second to spare, the Bass rushed over to the dollies that were nearby Chris, rolling them over to the crates and placing said crates on top of them. With ease, they started their journey back to the campsite, leaving the Gophers to try and push the crates all on their own. Evander and Francis had woken up, though they were still quite dazed from what had happened before. The cool guy shook off his confusion, immediately rushing over to Colleen angrily.
"What gives, lady!?" he shouted at her, "You go and knock me out for nothing, that's not cool!"
"Oh, boohoo," she pretended to sob, "We don't have time to argue about this nonsense. We need to start pushing these crates or the Bass will win this challenge. There are six of them, and eleven of us. Every crate will have a team of two pushing it except for one. Tallyho, let's get a move on people!"
Most of the other Gophers rolled their eyes at Colleen, but started to push the crates. Evander and Percival took one together, Francis and Leslie did one, Hellen and Claudia did another, Veronica and Roxy pushed one, Wendell took one by himself, and Rolf was left by himself with one as the rest of the group pushed on without him. They seemed to get quite far from him, very fast.
"Wait up!" he shouted after them, "I need some help here! Hey! Colleen isn't pushing a crate! Heyyyyyy!"
Confessional
"I don't need to engage in such a frivolous activity when I can simply lead my team to success," Colleen noted, "If we lose this challenge, let it be known that it was simply the fault of the ones who didn't jump, and left us with all of these crates to push."
"I can't believe this!" Rolf grumbled, "She dares to leave me with this crate alone, and now everyone is gonna think that I caused us to lose the challenge! This is absolutely unfair!"
Confessional End
The bulk of the Gophers eventually found themselves at the cabins, where the Bass were already hard at work, trying to get their hot tub together. Chris and Chef watched eagerly as the groups, both with very little experience on actually building a hot tub, struggled to do so.
"I don't get it," Duke grumbled, "Where is the dumb water filter supposed to go?"
"You gotta wait til' the end to put that on," Peggy muttered, "Right now, we just need to build the base to keep the water in."
"Man, I hate waiting for this stupid stuff! The walls of the tub are already done, can't we just toss the water in it and call it a day?"
"Sure," Josef scoffed at him, "If you want it to fall apart and us to lose challenge."
"I'm not taking no crap from the chicken on our team!"
"I may be chicken, but at least I know what I'm doing. You're brain is just full of testosterone."
"Oh! You really wanna go there!?"
"Gentlemen!" Elicia spoke over them, "We're already ahead of the other team, right? Why don't we just set aside our differences for now and push on with the challenge? We can win this thing, no doubt."
"Fine," Josef grumbled, "But when we're done, it's back to hating each other."
"Agreed," Duke replied, crossing his arms and turning away from the other boy.
Confessional
"What kind of teamwork is this?" Elicia said with a sigh, "Things we're never this competitive in school...well, sometimes they were. But only because we all knew we deserved certain roles, and no one could admit defeat! Now that I think about it, things might've always been like that."
Confessional End
The Gophers weren't having any more luck than the other team, as they continued to bicker about every little thing that came their way. Evander would snap at Colleen with every command she barked, and she would snap back, with none of the other's able to calm them down. Wendell found amusement in the whole situation, watching it happen from the sidelines.
"How 'bout you quit telling us what to do and toss us a little help, lady!?" Evander griped at Colleen, who then slapped him with her cracked ruler.
"I will not take orders from barking dogs," she replied, "I'll do what I see fit for myself, and right now, that means that I'll be telling all of you what works best for us to win this challenge."
"But that isn't helping anyone!"
"Oh, I do so love watching fools argue," Wendell snickered to himself, "Bravo, you two! You're both quite wasting our team's time."
"Butt out of this, Weasel."
"Weasel?" Wendell quickly frowned at the name he had been given, "Well, that just won't do for me, not one bit. If I hear you calling me that again, I'll chop your pompadour right off."
"I'd like to see you try."
"I hate to interrupt...whatever this is," Hellen butted into the argument, "But it seems that we're missing something crucial into building a hot tub."
"Huh?" the two glanced over at her.
"Well, me and the others looked through all of the crates...but not a single one of them has any siding. How are we supposed to build a hot tub with no siding?"
"What do you mean?" Colleen asked, her brow furrowing in anger, "Are you saying that Chris didn't give us all the supplies that we need?"
"Woah!" Chris overheard the conversation, stomping on over to the group in anger, "If I didn't give you all of your supplies, that would mean that I'm taking favor to one of the teams, and there's no way that I would do that, considering that you're all fun to mess with for me. If you really need to know where your siding is, then I can tell that it isn't here because you're missing one of the crates."
"What?" Claudia glanced around, counting out the open crates around them, "He's right, we only have five here...that means that..."
"Rolf," the group mumbled together.
Meanwhile, on the beach, Rolf was still attempting to push the crate behind him, struggling greatly in doing so. He pushed and pushed, but he felt himself growing weaker as time went on.
"Stupid Colleen, leaving me alone with this crate!" he grumbled to himself, kicking the crate that was before him, only to hold his foot in pain soon after. "Agh! I can't believe her, the audacity..."
Back at the cabins, the Bass were pouring the water into their tub together, while the Gophers were still waiting for Rolf to show up with the crate that they needed to start the whole project. Chris snickered as he looked down at his watch, noting that there was only a few minutes left for the teams to build, and finding it hilarious that the Gophers haven't even been able to start yet. Time ticked down, passing like seconds to him, and finally, it was up.
"Alright everyone!" he shouted, "Back away from your tubs! The challenge is over!"
The Bass sighed in relief, looking at their finished hot tub happily, while the Gophers sulked at the sight of what they had done. Chris walked over to the Bass' tub, dipping his finger into the warm water and giving them a thumbs up of approval.
"As expected, the team with the advantage did their job pretty well. Not much to complain about with this tub. Now, onto the Gopher's...'tub.'"
Walking on over to the mess of building supplies that hadn't even started to be assembled, he snickered at the sight.
"Well, I'd say that this was a close call if you guys had even attempted to get things done here, but without that siding, it looks like you all just gave up. You know, at least one of you could've attempted to go help the guy that you left on the beach."
"He shouldn't have had any problem with this to begin with," Roxy hissed, "He's one of those 'manly men,' right?"
Soon enough, Rolf finally pushed his crate onto the building sight, feeling all eyes turn on him immediately.
"I'm here!" he announced, barely able to speak as he gasped for air, "We can...we can build the...oh..."
"I think this is pretty clear," Chris started up again, "But the Bass win the first challenge! Not only are you folks safe from elimination tonight, but you'll also get to keep this sick hot tub for the rest of the summer!"
"Aw, yeah!" Bobby shouted, hopping into the tub without wasting any time, and splashing the warm water all over the group around him. "Oops."
"Bobby, you bumbling buffoon!" Annalise hissed at him, running off to the girls' room to dry off.
More of the Bass cheered for themselves, some of them hopping into the tub with Bobby as the Gophers looked down in shame while Chris continued to judge them.
"Gophers, you guys can head on down to the main lodge and grab some grub," the host continued, "But after that, it's gonna be curtains for one of you at the bonfire! See ya there!"
The group sighed as Chris cackled maniacally and walked away from them. Not long after, they each found themselves in the lodge, seated at one of the large tables together. Rolf stared at the food on his plate with disgust, while most of his team glared at him.
"So, I think it's pretty clear who we should vote off," Colleen pointed to Rolf with her ruler.
"Me!?" he asked, all offended, "What about you!? You left me down on the beach, and you didn't even attempt to help anyone carry a crate!"
"Woah, you didn't push any of the crates?" Evander asked, his eyebrow twitching at her, "How's that fair!?"
"I didn't need to," she replied, rolling her eyes in the process. "All I needed to do was make sure that we got to the end zone, which Rolf made impossible. He let us down in both halves of the challenge."
"I don't know about you guys," Wendell interrupted the argument, "But Rolf and Colleen seem like they can be pretty useful in some of the other challenges. Need I remind everyone about the bumbling mess of fear that didn't jump, either?"
"Hey, you leave her out of this," Roxy hissed at the boy, "She at least helped us in the second part of the challenge.
"But, that didn't matter anyway. If you're tiny brain can remember, we didn't get to do anything in the second half of the challenge."
"Oh, this part isn't very fun!" Leslie chirped, "I don't like all the arguing!"
Confessional
"Rolf is out of here," Colleen stated, sure of herself, "We don't need someone as useless as him floating around here."
"That Colleen doesn't deserve to stick around here!" Rolf scoffed, "She didn't even help! At least I tried to push one of the crates!"
"Colleen is a mega bitch," Evander commented, combing his hair, "She can crawl back to whatever tunnel she came from."
"Wendell is obnoxious," Roxy cracked her knuckles, all annoyed at him for being rude to Veronica, "He can be the first to lose."
"I'm obviously voting for Veronica," Wendell said, brimming with confidence, "She's quite useless."
"If I could vote of Desiree, I would," Claudia started, still annoyed, "But since I can't..."
Confessional End
The Gophers found themselves at the elimination ceremony after having voted to eliminate somebody. Rolf and Colleen sat next to each other, each glaring at the other, while Evander and Percival sat near them, both lounging in there chairs. Behind them, there was Hellen, who was looking at Percival with gawking eyes as she wrote stuff down in her journal. Claudia sat next to her, interested in what she was doing, and trying to peek into the book. Francis sat near Leslie, finding himself shaking in his seat as her bouncing caused the ground around her to shake. Veronica clung to Roxy's arm, per usual, as the more confident of the two glared at Wendell, who stuck his tongue out at her. Standing at a podium near the fire, Chris had a platter with ten marshmallows on it.
"Well, Gophers," he started, "We're here at the first elimination ceremony of the season. Some of you let your team down today, and that means that one of you is going to be kicked off of the island. That's right, your team came to an agreement that one of you just doesn't deserve to be on this island anymore. When I call your name, it means that you're safe from elimination. I'll toss you one of these marshmallows, which is a symbol of safety. The one of you who doesn't receive a marshmallow will find themselves out of the game, having to take the walk of shame to the boat of losers, leaving the island and never coming back. Ever. The first marshmallow goes to...Claudia."
Claudia caught the marshmallow, sighing in relief as it landed in her hands.
"Evander...Percival..."
"Aw, yeah!" Evander cheered, catching the treat in one hand and aiming a finger gun at Chris with the other.
Percival caught his skillfully, staring at it in confusion, as he had never seen one before. He took a bite out of it, his eyes widening from the unknown sweetness, and he soon finished the whole thing.
"Francis...Leslie..."
"Yay, yay, yay!" Leslie cheered, catching the marshmallow in her mouth and swallowing it in one gulp.
Francis caught his own, feeling as if a weight had been lifted off of his chest when he got it.
"Hellen...Roxy..."
Roxy caught hers, smirking at Wendell, who rolled his eyes at her in annoyance.
"Yes!" Hellen cheered as she caught hers, "Did you know that August thirtieth is national toasted marshmallow day? Pretty cool, right?"
"Wendell...and Veronica."
"As expected," Wendell commented in a cocky tone, catching the marshmallow, much to Roxy's dismay.
Veronica dodged hers as it flew her way, causing her to squeak a little. Rolf and Colleen both found themselves in the bottom two of the group, each looking at the other in pure astonishment.
"I have the final marshmallow of the night right here, and only one of you guys can get it. Rolf, you didn't jump off of the cliff earlier, and you delivered the supply crate way to late. Colleen, you're super bossy, and you left Rolf to fend for himself with those supplies. I mean, come on. The dude's totally a wuss. This last marshmallow goes to..."

As the treat flew towards the girl, she caught it and crushed it in her hand. She sent a smirk to Rolf, who was looking as if he just saw his family get murdered before his very eyes.
"Rolf, you're outta the competition, bud. Time to go get on the boat of losers!"
"I can't believe this!" he complained as he began to walk, "This is all her fault! I swear!"
"Yeah, yeah. Just get on the boat already."
Without anymore fight in him, the blogger got on the boat, leaving his team with one less member than they started with. It quickly took off, and the boy grumbled to himself, having a horrible taste in his mouth, knowing that he was the first loser of the game.
Author Notes:
*And there goes the first elimination! Yep, that one has stayed the same, as have most of them, but there are a couple that I've switched around for the rest of the story. Rolf is fun to use, but being Real with Rolf, he really didn't have much of a dog in this fight. Way too out of his own element.
*Votes: Rolf - Colleen, Veronica, Hellen, Leslie, Percival; Colleen - Rolf, Evander, Claudia, Francis; Veronica - Wendell; Wendell - Roxy
*Placements: 22nd - Rolf
