"In a blink of an eye my life changed forever."

Chapter 3

I don't remember much about my parents. I know that they were warm and kind. My father called me his little pile of sunshine and my mother would always read to me before tucking me in . We weren't a perfect family but we were happy. That is until HYDRA came along. I'm not sure I was old enough to understand what my family was really involved in. I should have seen the signs. People were always coming and going for our home. My mother was frantic and she often paced back and forth during the night. She was a night owl usually only getting two to three hours of sleep. I guess I inherited that from her. I could never really sleep for two long. Sleep was like a prison for me. It felt like a state of no control. I get this feeling sometimes that when I wake up everything will change. Which coming from someone who has nothing is kind of stupid to think. I guess you could say I'm haunted by the memories of the past. They coarse through my veins and everytime I close my eyes they reappear playing on a loop. I would like to think my parents were good people but then again they were involved in HYDRA.

Talia's parents house (2006)

Mother had just called me down for breakfast. I was only five but she said I had great potential. I was worried about my parents. They had been fighting more often than usual and their stress started radiating onto me. I didn't like when I was in the unknown. I walked into the kitchen sitting Down on the table.

"Hello sweet cheeks. How did you sleep," my mother asked?

She was the pure definition of beauty. I hoped to be just like her one day. She was wearing a yellow sun dress and a pearl necklace that sat just underneath her collar.

I smiled, "quite well. What's for breakfast," I replied?

"Anything you want."

"Really."

"Or course really."

The doorbell rang and my father went to answer it. The smile on my mother's face from before had slipped.

"Talia, remember your special little place?"

"Yes," I said confused.

"I want you to go there now."

"But mother I haven't had breakfast yet."

"Talia do not argue with me this is a serious matter. I will get you when it's safe. Now go," she sharply let out.

I got up from the kitchen table and started heading up the stairs. My special place had really just been the closet in my room. I opened the door and got in. If only I had known this would be the last time I would see my mother.

Downstairs I hear a lot of shouting. I could only make out what it said.

"We will… the money soon," came out of what I believe to be my father.

"Me and.. just.. more time." A faint sound from my mother.

"That's.. said.. last time," came for an unknown voice.

"Please no we have a daughter. Let us go for her," my mother shouted. It sounded like she was on the verge of tears.

"Oh don't worry we have plans for her."

A loud bang was heard downstairs followed by my mothers scream. It went on for about two seconds before another bang happened causing her to abruptly stop. I put my hands over my ears and started crying. I didn't know what was going on but it couldn't be good.

"Look for the girl. Where not leaving until we find her."

"Where exactly is she."

"I don't know. Where would you hide if you were a five year old child."

"Probably somewhere not too dark and spacious. The closet."

Suddenly the knob of the door started to turn. I backed up until my back was facing the wall and closed my eyes. Looking back, that was a terrible idea and it would have gotten me nowhere. The door opened and a dark figure in the shape of a man walked in.

"I found her. It's okay where it's not going to hurt you. What's your name?"

I perked up my head until I was face to face with his ocean blue eyes, contemplating whether to answer.

"Talia," I mumbleded shyly

"Talia well isn't that a pretty name. A pretty name for a pretty girl."

The man went deeper into the closet until he came close enough to pick me up. With one scoop I was in the air.

"Oh good you got her. Let's get out of this hell hole."

With that the man started walking out of my room and down the stairs. In the living liyed the dead bodies of my parents. They were motionless. A bullet hole ingrained in their heads with blood all over the floor. The man carrying me put a hand over my head pulling it into his shoulder probably to shield me from the sight.

"This is only the beginning. Have fun with your new life kiddo," the man let out in a tried voice.

Authors notes

That's it for chapter 3 hope you guys enjoyed it. In this chapter I focused on how Talia got to HYDRA. She likes to think her parent are good people but struggles with the idea of how they got mixed up in this mess. I like the line "This is only the beginning. Have fun with your new life kiddo." Because it shows that this is going to be Talia's new life and it only gets worse from then on. It gives a nice foreshadowing. I feel like a ELA teacher righting this note trying to find a hidden meaning in the text. I hope that's not too much for you guys. Anyway the next chapter will be about how Talia and Cassidy meeting and what happened after she arrived at HYDRA. I know guys the dead chick just bear with me. We will get back to more Marvel characters in chapter 5.
